Chapitre 3

? ? ?

Zhu Yao's heart was filled with...?

What a strange and chaotic family dynamic.

Even the novel's author, Zhu Yao, couldn't imagine such a melodramatic family relationship.

As expected, wealthy people are open-minded; they establish open family relationships starting with the parents.

Li Yue could see that Zhu Yao was full of doubts, but she simply didn't explain.

Yu Nan had a seizure in the middle of the night, causing her and her wife to be tossed around from the east side of the city to the west side. She was going to dig a pit for Yu Nan and teach him a lesson!

She always stirs things up first, and Xiao Li always wants to vent her anger!

Li Yue drove Zhu Yao back to the city. After returning home, Zhu Yao quickly packed her things and told the landlord that she would not be renewing her lease.

She couldn't wait to move into the big villa.

Xiao Fang recommended several real estate agencies to her, and Zhu Yao sent a message to express her gratitude and shared the good news that she had found a new place to live with Xiao Fang.

"Good thing we found it!" Xiao Fang replied and then disappeared, probably busy with work again.

Zhu Yao didn't have much stuff, and the villa was fully equipped, so she didn't need to bring much with her. She decided to move in today.

After some twists and turns, Zhu Yao finally moved all her belongings there.

She took a nice bath, opened a can of beer she took from the refrigerator downstairs, and clinked glasses with her laptop.

"Cheers! Happy housewarming, Teacher YaoYaoLing!"

Then, I happily downed the whole can of beer, ready to start my nightlife.

Wait a minute! Nightlife!

Zhu Yao looked at the 22:58 in the lower right corner of her laptop, and her smile suddenly froze.

She was busy moving all day and completely forgot.

She! Did! Not! Update!

Chapter 4 Why is this big villa so quiet?

Aaaaaaah! Her perfect attendance bonus! Her perfect attendance bonus, which she used to maintain her quality of life!!

Zhu Yao quickly transformed into a typewriter and scoured her saved drafts once more.

Okay, she doesn't usually stockpile drafts...

It's impossible to store it properly!

At 23:40, she finally managed to spell out more than a thousand words.

After hesitating for a moment, she decided to defend her laziness today in the author's note.

"Dear readers, your beloved author suddenly decided to move to a different site today, and didn't start updating until 11 o'clock. How about we discuss it? I'll only post 1,000 words today, and 10,000 tomorrow!"

Even if she survives today, she can't escape tomorrow. Zhu Yao began to worry about tomorrow's daily target of 10,000.

Although I write during the night, moving during the day is physically demanding and has been quite a hassle, so I'm a bit tired now.

Never mind! Keep going! She'll keep going until the end of time! Until the seas dry up and the rocks crumble!

She would channel the excitement she felt upon seeing the grand villa today into motivation! She would furiously pound the keyboard! She would forcefully shove tomorrow's 10,000-word essay into the readers' minds!!

There's a world of difference between writing in a big villa and writing in an old, run-down apartment in the city.

The previous residence had very poor sound insulation. Even in the middle of the night, there were sounds of large trucks passing by downstairs, occasional barking of dogs, and fights among thugs.

Now, the room is unusually quiet.

Zhu Yao's hearing has always been excellent.

When she was a child, she lived alone at home. Even though she lived on the eighth floor, she could still hear her mother opening the security door on the first floor and hear her distinctive footsteps.

She could even tell if her parents had come home just by the sound of a car outside.

But now she can no longer hear the wind chimes outside, nor the cicadas chirping in the summer.

The villa was so well soundproofed that even a slight thud from her chair was a loud bang with an echo, which gave her the creeps.

Zhu Yao could clearly hear her heart pounding, her bones cracking when she moved, and each keystroke made a clear "click-click" sound.

On ordinary days, I don't notice anything while writing, accompanied by the white noise of the city's sleepless nights.

But asking her to write in an extremely quiet place, especially a supernatural yuri story, with the bedroom lights off and only the computer on, wouldn't that be—

Even better!

Zhu Yao firmly believes that there are no ghosts in this world.

I've had such an irregular sleep schedule for so many years and I've never encountered any ghosts. If there were ghosts, I probably would have seen them long ago. Even if I did see one someday, I wouldn't be afraid. After all, who knows who's afraid of whom?

Because she firmly believed that nothing was beyond the realm of common sense, Zhu Yao's self-inflicted scares and wild imaginations actually provided her with a constant stream of inspiration, making her typing even faster!

Around 4 a.m., Zhu Yao stood up, stretched, and twisted her sore neck.

I've finally finished writing it. After I wake up, I'll polish it a bit, fix some bugs, and add a few more words. It'll be about ten thousand words by then.

Thanks to the quiet villa and the atmosphere of a horror movie set, she had a burst of inspiration while writing, typing at lightning speed, and accomplishing in just four hours what she usually takes seven or eight hours.

I drank a can of beer before midnight; you always get thirsty when you drink alcohol.

After typing for five consecutive hours without moving, eating, or drinking, Zhu Yao felt unbearably thirsty. She needed water, lots of water to fill herself up.

Even if you have edema all over your body after waking up, it's not a problem.

There was no water in the bedroom, so she decided to go downstairs and check the refrigerator.

Zhu Yao's bedroom was dark, with only the computer screen casting a dim light. Because the computer was facing away from the door, when the bedroom door was opened, all that could be seen outside was darkness, and no one would notice that she had quietly opened the door.

Next to Zhu Yao's bedroom is the staircase, through which you can see the entrance to the basement.

Moonlight streamed through the window, illuminating the entrance to the basement and casting an eerily pale glow over the area.

Zhu Yao watched in disbelief as something dressed in dark red with white hair floated into the basement.

Zhu Yao didn't make a sound. She silently turned around, tiptoed to close the door, and then leaned against the doorway.

This is a female ghost! This is definitely a female ghost! A female ghost in red with white hair! She's probably a powerful, vengeful spirit!

Countless horror movies played automatically in her mind: a vast, eerie villa... a single, pale, unopened flower in the yard... a guest living alone on the second floor... a red-clad ghost drifting towards the basement in the dead of night...

Her firm materialistic values, which she had cultivated since childhood, were severely impacted and shattered in the middle of the night on her first night after moving into the villa.

I must have misread it! I must have opened the door wrong!

Because she was so thirsty, Zhu Yao opened the door again. In the basement, there were only the pale white floor tiles illuminated by the moonlight and the dark entrance.

I must have misread it because I was reading too much.

Zhu Yao held her breath and went downstairs by the moonlight. She tiptoed to the refrigerator in the living room, as if afraid that making a sound would disturb the female ghost.

However, nothing happened; the suddenly appearing female ghost did not discover her, a living person.

Zhu Yao breathed a sigh of relief, opened the refrigerator, and took out a bottle of water.

Wait a minute! Something's not right! Zhu Yao's heart skipped a beat.

The refrigerator has been disturbed!

This afternoon, Zhu Yao watched helplessly as someone came and filled the refrigerator, but now a can of strawberry beer, a can of orange juice, and a box of chilled rice cakes are missing.

A strange thought crept into her mind—the female ghost had come to the living room to get drinks and food from the refrigerator.

Even if she's usually oblivious, she was starting to feel uneasy.

Is that "child" back? Li Yue did say this afternoon that the child would be discharged from the hospital and go home soon.

Zhu Yao took a bottle of water and walked to the basement entrance to examine it carefully. The basement entrance door was tightly closed, and Zhu Yao could not enter casually without permission.

She wanted to knock on the "child's" bedroom door to see if she had actually come home.

But it's too late to disturb them now.

Moreover, the "child's" bedroom is directly opposite hers, so if someone were to walk up the stairs, she would be able to hear it—unless the child didn't even use the stairs.

Zhu Yao returned to her bedroom with doubts. She planned to visit Li Yue's daughter again the next day and ask her about the female ghost.

The most urgent thing is to satisfy the physiological need of thirst and then go to sleep, since I've been tired all day.

Sleep well, little demon! All you monsters and ghosts! All you red-clad, white-haired female ghosts! Get out of my way!

I had a dreamless night. There were no ghostly deaths, no being attacked and killed by editors and readers for missing work, and no being kicked out by the landlord and forced to sleep under a bridge in fear.

Zhu Yao finally woke up around 4 p.m. the next day.

After sleeping for more than ten hours, she felt refreshed.

After quickly tidying herself up, Zhu Yao went to the kitchen and made sushi for two. She then tentatively knocked on the door of the "child's" bedroom.

There was no response.

Chapter 5 Zhu Dadan storms the female ghost's lair

Zhu Yao thought to herself, "Nobody should be sleeping at 4 pm, right? I'm a night owl who only goes to bed at 4 or 5 am, and I'm already awake at this time."

However, Zhu Yao then thought of her roommate from college, who had a habit of taking a nap and could sleep from one o'clock to six o'clock on afternoons when she didn't have classes.

Zhu Yao simply put on her headphones, took her iPad, and waited in the living room. She leaned back on the comfortable sofa, watching a show while keeping an eye on the "child's" bedroom door upstairs.

Four hours passed, and the bedroom door remained closed, with no one returning from outside.

Zhu Yao knocked on the door again, but still no one answered.

Zhu Yao was glad she made sushi, which was fine to eat cold. She simply wrapped the food in plastic wrap and placed it in front of the "child's" bedroom door, writing "Hello, I am your new roommate" on a sticky note and sticking it on the outside of the plastic wrap.

We waited until 8 p.m. and there was still no movement. I guess the child hasn't gone home yet. When she gets home and sees that plate of sushi, she'll know that Zhu Yao exists.

Zhu Yao returned to her bedroom, intending to use the last four hours of the day to polish the rough draft she had written yesterday, which was supposed to be a daily 10,000-word update, before sending it out.
