Kapitel 8

Yu Nan seemed to dislike her way of addressing her.

During her college years, as a closeted gay woman, she was deeply misled by the nonsense told by straight women.

Those straight women call everyone "baby," "darling" when they need something, and "wife" when they get to know someone better. The first thing they ask others every day is "When are you going to take care of me?" or "When are you going to be with me, beautiful lady?"

At first, Zhu Yao believed the nonsense of those straight women, thinking that they were transparent, and even told her lesbian friends that there were many lesbians in her school.

It's all fake! They're all straight as soon as they claim to be relatives! And they'll look at her with a subtle look and ask, "Could you be a lesbian?"

Zhu Yao could only deny it with tears in her eyes, emphasizing that she was just curious and that her small county town was not as open as big cities.

Later, she started to imitate the way straight women talk to disguise herself. Zhu Yao could spout these nonsense better than straight women; it's just being insincere, just pretending to be straight—anyone can do that! She even brought up a few male idols to pass the inspection.

The most unbelievable thing is that when she was being cautious, straight women would kick her closet door, but later when she let loose and learned from these straight women who were full of lesbian feelings, everyone firmly believed that she was straight.

There was even a lesbian who threatened to turn her gay.

Unfortunately, she didn't want to come out, and she preferred other women like herself, so she rejected the offer, claiming to be straight. This only strengthened everyone's belief that she was straight.

How strange! How strange!

However, calling someone "sister" or "little sister" was already a compromise. Honestly, she didn't call everyone "baby" or "darling."

It seems the young people in front of me aren't buying it? They seem to dislike being called "sister" or "younger sister"?

That's true. After all, there's a generation gap every three years. I'm four years older than Yu Nan, so that's a huge gap. I heard that people born in the 2000s say that calling someone "little sister" makes people uncomfortable, while they call people "comrade."

Yu Nan told her to call her by her full name, without any fancy nicknames, which was great!

“Okay, Yu Nan,” Zhu Yao smiled sweetly, “What are your plans for the future?”

Huh, why did Yu Nan suddenly turn her head away from her? Was her smile too scary?

"Let's go back first." Yu Nan got off the hospital bed, turned away from her, and asked, "Can you drive?"

"I do know how," Zhu Yao suddenly said, feeling guilty.

I just got my driver's license, but because I'm a homebody and don't go out much, I haven't been able to afford a car and I'm not very good at driving.

"Then drive it back," Yu Nan tossed a car key to Zhu Yao.

The two walked to the hospital's underground parking garage. Yu Nan walked towards a car that had obviously been parked for a long time, and Zhu Yao even doubted whether the car actually had any gas.

She pressed the car key, and the headlights actually turned on. Zhu Yao took a deep breath, opened the door, and sat in the driver's seat.

Left to right, clutch, brake, accelerator... Don't be nervous, you can do it.

Wait, why are there only two pedals?

Automatic transmission... that should be the accelerator and brake.

It's simpler than a manual transmission. Good luck, Yao! You can do it! You're a driving genius who passed both the driving tests on your first try.

Following her memory, Zhu Yao got to drive.

With no cars or pedestrians around in the dead of night, Zhu Yao gradually became bolder, slightly increasing her speed and driving towards the villa area as directed by Yu Nan.

The hospital is very close to home, only a ten-minute drive away.

However, Zhu Yao drove the car erratically, but managed to drive for twenty minutes.

"Have you not driven in a long time?" Yu Nan couldn't help but ask, looking at the speed of 20 miles per hour.

"Yes, it's been several years."

Zhu Yao roughly calculated that she got her license at around 19 years old, and it has been eight years since then, but she has never had the chance to practice driving.

"No wonder," Yu Nan couldn't help but mutter.

"Then why don't you drive?" Zhu Yao asked curiously. Why didn't you drive the car you had?

Yu Nan did not answer Zhu Yao, but instead directed her to drive to the garage in the backyard of the villa.

Following Yu Nan's instructions, Zhu Yao entered through the back door of the villa.

There was actually a small courtyard behind it. To the left of the courtyard was a pond with a rockery in it. The pond was surrounded by fine white sand and several pebbles.

There is a small pavilion next to the artificial hill in the center of the pond, which can probably accommodate five or six people to cool off.

To the right of the courtyard was a grassy area with some strange sculptures and a swing nearby.

Zhu Yao parked the car in the garage in the backyard of the villa, following the middle road. The garage was large enough that even someone like her, who had a driver's license but no driving skills, could park it.

"I can't drive."

Yu Nan lowered her head and suddenly answered Zhu Yao's question.

"People with organic heart disease can't get a driver's license," Yu Nan shrugged expressionlessly. "After all, you never know when you might die while driving."

"Don't be so pessimistic, you'll be fine." Why are kids these days so pessimistic, always talking about death?

Zhu Yao opened the car door for Yu Nan, then glanced at her watch; it was four in the morning, almost dawn.

"Are you going back to sleep now?" Zhu Yao couldn't sleep anyway; she had just gotten up not long ago.

Yu Nan shook her head. "It's not my sleep time now."

"What a coincidence, it's not mine either." Zhu Yao smiled. "Should we discuss an agreement on peaceful coexistence among roommates?"

"Let's go to the front yard then." Yu Nan had the same idea in mind; it was time to decide on their future lifestyle.

Yu Nan and Zhu Yao went to the refrigerator to get water and then walked to the front yard.

Under the moonlight, the flowers in the front yard were in bloom, filling the air with a sweet fragrance.

The pure white flowers, rising and falling with the summer night breeze, seemed to be bathed in a layer of bright moonlight, appearing very holy.

"These are white evening primroses, whose flower language is silent love and an untamed heart."

Yu Nan led Zhu Yao to sit on a bench next to the fountain, with their backs to the fountain, looking at a white garden.

A cool evening breeze, crickets chirping, wind chimes tinkling—everything was just right.

"Miss Yu has taken very good care of these flowers. You seem to be a very thoughtful person."

Yu Nan was speechless. She wanted to explain that she didn't usually take care of the flowers herself, but that a gardener would come to repair them, but she didn't say it out loud.

"Miss Yu, is there some unspoken love in your life?" Zhu Yao tried to get the conversation flowing.

Yu Nan scoffed. She used to like straight men, and wasn't that just silent love?

"Not really. I don't fall in love with others easily anymore. Maybe I still have a free spirit."

"Furthermore, I don't like evening primroses because of their flower language, but for other reasons."

Yu Nan lowered her head, her face turned to the side towards Zhu Yao. The moonlight shone on her face, and her peach blossom eyes revealed a hint of disappointment.

Zhu Yao seemed lost in thought, never imagining that someone as beautiful as Miss Yu would have an unrequited love.

It must be admitted that Yu Nan is very beautiful, with a charming yet slightly rebellious air.

Zhu Yao always kept her distance from people with this kind of temperament.

She looked too dangerous, like a rose with deadly poison on its thorns.

"Yu Nan, what time do you usually go to bed and get up?" Since the small talk could go on endlessly, Zhu Yao simply cut to the chase.

"I'll probably sleep from 2 pm until the early hours of the morning. You don't need to disrupt your own life for me; I'll set my own alarm."

Yu Nan already knew that Zhu Yao had signed a rental agreement, not some strange contract.

She was simply renting out her spare room at a low price, expecting the other person to take care of her like a nanny and accommodate her schedule, and she felt guilty about it.

Zhu Yao was stunned. As a person from the underworld, she and most of the other underworld people she knew slept all morning, got up in the afternoon, and then partied until the middle of the night.

Yu Nan's sleep schedule of sleeping in the afternoon and waking up at dawn is so extreme that even people from the underworld would call it the underworld.

No wonder no one answered when I knocked on the door before—it turns out there's a time difference even among people in the underworld.

She secretly sent a message in the readers' group: "I met someone with a really weird schedule today!"

Soon, a reader who was also from the underworld replied to her message: "How can someone from the underworld call others from the underworld?"

111: "Slept from 2 PM to 10 PM!"

"Wow, that's amazing!" Even the underworld figures in the reader group were stunned.

As a struggling novelist named Yin Jianren, Zhu Yao decided to adjust her schedule to match that of Boss Yu—otherwise, she would feel too guilty living in this cheap villa.

Moreover, someone as free-spirited as her doesn't care about schedules.

"So, when do you usually eat?"

"Um... eat when you're hungry? Or eat whenever there's food? There's no fixed place, so don't bother me, I can take care of it myself."

Zhu Yao thought to herself: "With all this tossing and turning, it's no wonder my health isn't good!"

"How about this, I'll call you after I finish cooking." Zhu Yao thought to herself, "I need to eat too, it's just a matter of how much I cook."

What's more, cooking in such a well-equipped kitchen with such abundant ingredients is simply a pleasure!

"I think I scared you today, which caused you to lose a bet, right? So I'll take responsibility for your health for the next two years!"

She wished Yao to be bold and responsible, and even hoped that she could take responsibility for a few more years so that the lease could be renewed naturally.

You know, rich people don't want anyone else in their homes; I've gotten a bargain.

"Hmm...wouldn't that be too much trouble for you? After all, my schedule is really irregular, and you have to go to work, right?" Yu Nan scratched her head. She originally wanted to refuse Zhu Yao in a harsh and sarcastic tone, but when she saw that face, she couldn't help but soften her words.

"No!" Zhu Yao smiled. "I'm a freelancer, so it doesn't matter how hellish it is."

“But…” Yu Nan was still a little embarrassed.

"I'll leave the next two years to you!" Zhu Yao said, cutting off Yu Nan's "but" with a single sentence.

Yu Nan turned her head, and she could clearly feel her heart beating faster.

Tsk, don't get tempted! This straight woman who fits your XP is only taking care of you because of the rent!

Yu Nan, the awkward girl, seems unwilling to accept other people's kindness towards her. Could she have a people-pleasing personality?

The idea flashed through Zhu Yao's mind, but she immediately dismissed it.

He was just doing what he agreed with Li Yue, so there was no need to overthink it.

The summer night was slightly cool, and sitting by the fountain, smelling the fragrance of flowers, should have been very pleasant.
