Глава 71

"Fuhua's stock will definitely rise tomorrow."

"Thanks."

They then didn't know what else to say.

The decorated car drove into the Yi residence. Aunt Zhou had prepared a variety of festive foods beforehand, including a sweet soup made with red dates, peanuts, and lotus seeds, following the Yi family tradition. Yi Mantian summoned Song Qing to his study alone and gave her a shareholding agreement.

"This is five percent of the shares in the bank, plus the entire Shih Ping Building. It's my gift to you as your first gift."

Song Qing hurriedly declined, "Uncle Yi, no, this is too precious." She was really surprised. This was originally just a business marriage, and Yi Mantian didn't deserve to do this for her.

"Aren't you going to change how you address me?" he said, feigning anger.

Song Qing blushed and said, "Dad."

"That's right, Xiaoqing. You must not refuse this small token of my appreciation. You must always understand that the Yi family is very happy and solemn to welcome you into the family. Don't have any other thoughts, not to mention that I am 100% satisfied with you as my new daughter-in-law."

Song Qing was extremely grateful. After hearing what he said, Song Qing had no choice but to pick up the share certificate again and bow ninety degrees to Yi Mantian.

"Thank you, Dad." Her voice choked with emotion.

Yi Mantian smiled kindly and helped her up, gesturing with his lips to indicate that she should hurry back to the bridal chamber. Her face immediately turned red.

But she still said, "I want to go to the hospital to see my dad first, otherwise I won't feel at ease."

"Let Zhengwei go with you." His words left no room for argument.

She had no choice but to nod. As she stepped outside, Aunt Zhou was still tidying up the house. Seeing her come out, she hurriedly said, "Young Master is upstairs. You can go up now, but you've had a bit too much to drink. The ginger soup is ready; I'll bring it up in a bit."

"Sister Zhou, let me do it."

Aunt Zhou thought the bride wanted to serve her husband personally, so she happily brought out some ginger soup from the kitchen and handed it to her.

She felt each step she took up the stairs grow heavier than the last. When she first came to the Yi residence, she never imagined she would return as a daughter-in-law of the Yi family; it all felt like a dream. Life is so unpredictable. She had only been back for less than six months, yet so much had happened in that short time.

Some old dreams, some that could be broken, and some that couldn't, have all been shattered.

She had always felt depressed about the danger Fuhua was facing, but now it had suddenly been resolved, just like that. She felt incredibly empty. She didn't know what it should be like to be a wife, or how she should live with this kind of marriage.

She gently pushed open the door, and found Yi Zhengwei not lying unconscious on the bed as she had imagined. The room was dark; he stood by the window with his back to her, and a red dot was flashing. She smelled smoke and couldn't help but cough twice.

Yi Zhengwei quickly turned around and stubbed out his cigarette. Song Qing turned on the light, handed him the soup, and said with a smile, "I think Aunt Zhou is overthinking it. You don't need to sober up."

Yi Zhengwei said, "I won't blush or suffer any loss even if I'm drunk."

Yi Zhengwei took the soup and drank it down in one gulp.

Seeing that Song Qing was standing there awkwardly, he said, "Go to the next room and change your clothes. You look uncomfortable in what you're wearing today."

"Yes, it's very heavy." She nodded, opened the suitcase she had brought, and looked for clothes.

"I want to go to the hospital. Dad said you can come with me. If you're tired, I'll go alone. You can rest at home."

"No, wait for me." He also took his clothes and went to the restroom.

On the way to the hospital, Song Qing told him that Yi Mantian had given her shares.

"I think it's too expensive."

Yi Zhengwei pondered for a moment and said, "Keep it. Your father prepared it a long time ago. You are a daughter-in-law of the Yi family, so you don't need to be so formal in the future."

They walked in silence. Song Qing actually wanted to ask him how his girlfriend had been settled and whether she was doing well. But then she thought that it wouldn't be appropriate to ask such a question in this situation. Whether she said it or not, he would eventually make arrangements.

Song Jingmo was very tired today. When they arrived, he was fast asleep, his breathing steady. But Xu Heng told them that this didn't mean he was optimistic; his illness was slowly seeping into his bones. However, he would do his best.

"The hospital was very busy today, so I couldn't attend your wedding. This is just a small token of my appreciation, please accept it." Xu Heng took out a red envelope and gave it to Song Qing.

Song Qing knew that he and his father were like brothers, so he accepted the gift without any hesitation.

"You should go home early. Let him get some rest tonight and come back tomorrow. I'll stay here with him tonight."

Song Qing almost burst into tears. "Uncle Xu, is my father...?" The fact that he needed to keep watch all night proved that the situation had reached a very serious stage.

Xu Heng nodded heavily.

She turned to Yi Zhengwei and said, "I want to stay in the hospital."

Yi Zhengwei didn't reply, but Xu Heng rejected him.

"What are you saying? How can you stay in the hospital on your wedding night? Go back right now! Don't you trust me or what?!"

"Xiaoqing, let's come earlier tomorrow. Dr. Xu will notify us immediately if there are any issues."

Song Qing looked at Song Jingmo through the glass window of the ward with reluctance, afraid that the world would collapse when dawn broke.

When they got home, Aunt Zhou breathed a sigh of relief and checked her watch, saying, "Thank goodness, it's not midnight yet. Hurry up and go upstairs, I'm closing the door."

While Yi Zhengwei was taking a shower, she received a text message from Yan Xunan, which arrived at exactly twelve o'clock.

"Qing'er, I finally know what it feels like to be heartbroken."

She tossed her phone aside as if it were a hot potato. A thought crossed her mind—to turn it off—but then she remembered she still needed to receive calls from Xu Heng, so she reluctantly gave up.

When Yi Zhengwei came out, he saw Song Qing wandering around with her phone, as if she had stolen some treasure and was looking for a place to hide it.

"Xiao Qing, it's your turn."

She didn't forget to bring her phone when she took a shower, and Yi Zhengwei assumed that she was worried about Song Jingmo and afraid of missing Xu Heng's call.
