Kapitel 55

Did he ask the wrong question? Qin Zhi had told him that she had run into Shen Moyu once at a coffee shop, which didn't seem like a lie.

Or... did he feel annoyed by his excessive talking?

He stared at the chat box for a long time, still feeling uncomfortable, and irritably deleted the message: What time do you get off work?

Then I made up a reason: I sent it to the wrong person.

When Shen Moyu saw the message from Su Jinning, she didn't care whether it was true or not, and replied "Mm" to avoid embarrassing him.

Chen Hang had told himself that Su Jinning didn't have many friends on WeChat, so would it be easy for her to send the wrong message?

Even if that's the case, who was it originally intended for?

"Tsk, what a nutcase." He muttered to himself, feeling like he'd been meddling in other people's business.

Maybe it's his father. Besides, what does it have to do with me?

He stood up, and "crash!" The sound of the plate shattering on the floor was sharp and unpleasant, breaking the silence of the coffee shop.

Damn it... Shen Moyu thought, it seems that his record of never being scolded is about to be broken today.

"Oh dear! What have you done?!" The middle-aged woman rushed over, shouting.

The coffee shop owner never arrives; something always arrives first—either the clatter of her high heels or her shrill shouts.

Shen Moyu was about to resign herself to picking up the broken pieces of the plate from the ground when, before she could even bend down, someone pinched the back of her neck.

"Ouch!" He was pinched and immediately straightened up. He saw the female boss standing with her hands on her hips, angrily yelling at him.

"Oh dear! How could you be so careless! Do you know how much this plate costs?"

Shen Moyu rubbed the back of his neck, his expression as if he had eaten shit.

He never imagined that the gossip he was enjoying in the morning would end up affecting him.

"I'm sorry, boss... I didn't mean to..." Although Shen Moyu couldn't stand her noisy manner, he couldn't help but apologize since he had made a mistake.

The woman ignored his apology and shouted angrily, "Hurry up and sweep! We're wasting money supporting a bunch of useless people!"

Upon hearing the last sentence, Shen Moyu couldn't help but clench his fist.

Suddenly, a pair of hands holding a broom appeared in front of me and then swept up the broken pieces on the ground for me.

He looked up and saw it was the little girl he had been scolded that morning.

Shen Moyu's gaze lingered on her for two seconds. Before he could even feel moved, he hurriedly bent down and dumped the shards he had swept up into the trash can.

"Why are you helping him? Huh?" the woman's shrill voice rang out again, this time targeting someone else. Her eyes were wide, looking like she wanted to devour someone, and she continued her incessant chatter: "What's it to you?"

Not wanting her to be implicated, Shen Moyu quickly grabbed the broom and said softly, "I can do it myself."

Xiao Jie pursed her lips, nodded, and leaned to one side.

"Boss, I broke this plate, it has nothing to do with her, I apologize to you." He spoke sincerely, but his gaze remained calm and composed.

Many customers turned to look at her, and the female boss didn't know how to respond, so she simply avoided their gaze.

But his attitude remained as rude and unreasonable as ever: "Fine, you're just a student, I'll be magnanimous and not make you pay for it, anyway you can't afford it! I brought this plate back from Italy!"

"Three for nine yuan and ninety cents on Pinduoduo... These colors have faded after washing, and they're supposed to be Italian?" Shen Moyu only dared to mutter to herself. Did they think she was stupid?

He watched the woman's exaggerated behavior, and if he hadn't witnessed it himself, he would have believed her. He really didn't know how she could lie without even blushing.

"Yes, I'm sorry, boss." Shen Moyu bowed slightly.

The female boss rolled her eyes, raised her chin, and bargained, "Well, I can't just break this plate for nothing, can I? Perfect timing, one of my employees can't come for the night shift, so you can work an extra hour. We'll be off at seven."

Shen Moyu didn't say anything, even though he was extremely annoyed. He sighed, then glanced back at Xiao Jie, and, thinking about what had just happened, forced a smile: "You don't need to help me next time."

Xiao Jie was indeed very introverted. She glanced at him, lowered her head, and whispered, "It's nothing... She's always been rude. I think she's just upset because you look wronged."

Shen Moyu opened his mouth slightly as if to say something, then smiled stiffly: "It's okay, it was my fault to begin with."

Xiao Jie simply nodded and then turned to leave.

Shen Moyu looked at her back with some gratitude, then took out his phone and opened Su Jinning's chat window.

Not Fish: I have something to do today and can't go. You guys eat.

He was about to put his phone away when he saw Su Jinning reply instantly.

Ning: What's wrong? Are you in a hurry?

Shen Moyu was startled by the speed of his reply. Was this guy's phone glued to his hand?

Not a Fish: Um, please tell everyone for me that I'm sorry.

Su Jinning was completely baffled.

Ning: Can't you finish dealing with this before 7 o'clock?

Shen Moyu typed, "Even if I go, it will be very late, so don't wait for me." Before he could send it, he was speechless.

Su Jinning replied: I'm waiting for you.

"Damn." This left Shen Moyu a little bewildered. Did he really have to go by himself? Why have a get-together when there's nothing else to do? It would be more interesting to stay home, eat some fried rice, and do a few math problems.

Not a Fish: Okay, then I might be a little late.

As always, Su Jinning returned.

Ning: I'm waiting for you.

That was the end of it. Shen Moyu stared blankly at his reply, "Waiting for you."

Well, going isn't out of the question.

The weather was still a bit chilly in the evening, but fortunately it got dark quite late, and at seven o'clock you could still see the lingering sunset glow on the horizon.

He cleaned up the last plate and put it in the cupboard.

Looking around the deserted coffee shop, he couldn't help but feel a sense of desolation. He changed out of his work clothes and prepared to leave.

Shen Moyu locked the coffee shop door, and in the instant he turned around, he saw a familiar figure under the willow tree in the distance.

In the darkness, the person's silhouette was faintly visible, but Shen Moyu recognized him at a glance.

Su Jinning held the helmet in his hands, a few strands of his dark hair blowing wildly in the evening breeze, fluttering across his forehead. The motorcycle in front of him was a stylish black Yamaha. His long legs were straight, supporting him on the ground.

He stood there, like a finely sculpted work of art.
