Kapitel 62

"Mo Yu, get up and eat." Xia Wei's gentle voice rang out in the room.

Shen Moyu is a light sleeper, and he frowned slightly when he heard the sound.

"Get up, get up! It's already past eight o'clock, and the food is ready!" Xia Wei urged, gently patting Shen Moyu, who still didn't want to get up.

"Eight o'clock..." Shen Moyu repeated the time in a daze. Then he suddenly sat up.

"It's eight o'clock?!" Shen Moyu glanced at the clock on the wall and slapped his forehead in frustration.

He had to go to work in the afternoon, so he had a huge pile of homework he hadn't even started writing in the morning. He quickly got dressed and got out of bed, too lazy to fix his hair which was flattened by the pressure, and didn't even notice that someone was missing from next to him.

Once he stepped out of the room, he caught a glimpse of the figure busy in the kitchen.

He paused as he was about to take a step, perhaps still half asleep, because he felt like he was seeing things.

"Su Jinning?" he called out in surprise.

It wasn't until the person turned around that he realized that this was the person who had slept next to him last night.

"What's wrong with you?" Shen Moyu looked Su Jinning up and down in her pink apron, his eyes filled with disbelief.

At this moment, Xia Wei tidied the quilt and slowly walked out, smiling, "Xiao Ning got up early this morning. Seeing me busy in the kitchen, she came over to help. Look!" Xia Wei pointed to the appetizing scallion fish on the table and said, "This was made by Xiao Ning. Come and try it."

Su Jinning raised an eyebrow at him triumphantly, as if showing off.

Shen Moyu scratched her hair and ignored him, looking in the direction Xia Wei was pointing.

A scallion fish with a rich, savory sauce was placed on a plate. He walked over curiously and carefully observed the scallion fish, which was cooked to perfection in both heat and seasoning.

"You did this?" Shen Moyu's tone was full of distrust as he looked at Su Jinning with a face full of doubt.

Su Jinning was still holding a rice spoon in her hand, and her hair, which she hadn't had time to comb, was messy, making her look just like a male nanny.

“I don’t like hearing that. What, would I lie to you? Auntie saw it all!” He said the last sentence with a slight rise in his voice, sounding particularly proud of himself.

Shen Moyu chuckled through his nose.

He really didn't expect that this pampered young master, who always had everything handed to him, would stand proudly at the door of his own kitchen and say, "I made these dishes."

Shen Moyu looked at Su Jinning with a smile, and nodded in praise, "It looks really good. I didn't know you had this skill."

Su Jinning crossed her arms and said, "That's right!" Then she turned her gaze to Xia Wei and said, "Auntie, please sit down and have a taste."

Xia Wei was getting impatient; she hadn't had scallion fish in a long time.

She sat down, picked up a piece of fish with her chopsticks, and put it in her mouth.

Su Jinning stared intently at Xia Wei, watching her chew carefully, feeling a little nervous.

"Mmm!" Xia Wei's eyes lit up, and with her mouth full of fish, she said indistinctly, "It's delicious! This tastes so good, Auntie hasn't had it in so long!"

Upon receiving the praise, Su Jinning's face instantly lit up with a happy smile, and he breathed a sigh of relief, as he had been worried that Xia Wei wouldn't like to eat it.

Shen Moyu washed her face and came out. Seeing the two chatting happily, she pulled up a stool and sat down: "What are you talking about? Let me hear it?"

Su Jinning and Xia Wei exchanged a knowing glance, then said in unison, "We're not telling you!"

"Huh?" Shen Moyu felt like his mother had been taken away from him in an instant, and suddenly she was no longer on his side.

"Hahahaha!" Xia Wei laughed.

"Quick, try some." Perhaps overwhelmed by the joyful atmosphere, Su Jinning picked up a piece of fish and was about to feed it to Shen Moyu.

"..." Shen Moyu stared at Su Jinning, seeing his expectant look, and suddenly didn't know whether he should take a bite or not.

"Try it!" Xia Wei urged from the side.

He glanced at the two people looking at him, then opened his lips and swallowed the piece of fish from Su Jinning's chopsticks.

They even forgot to chew.

"Mmm, delicious." Shen Moyu didn't dare to look up at Su Jinning, feeling somewhat embarrassed by her earlier actions.

But Su Jinning, oblivious to everything, didn't notice anything amiss and happily continued chatting with Xia Wei.

He told her many interesting stories that even Shen Moyu didn't know, big and small, good and bad. Xia Wei loved listening to him, and the two would laugh out loud from time to time, like old friends.

Shen Moyu didn't interrupt, only saying a few words when his own name was mentioned. He just quietly watched the excited Su Jinning and his mother's curious and joyful expression.

He chuckled softly twice.

This house hasn't been filled with laughter and joy for a long time.

This is Su Jinning's first time here. I wonder... if there will be a second time.

Thinking about it carefully, he was still a little excited.

After dinner, Xia Wei and Aunt Liu went out for a walk, leaving only the two of them in the house.

The rain had stopped and the weather was perfect. The window was open, and I could occasionally hear the sound of water dripping from the sycamore tree outside. Every now and then, I could hear the sound of cars honking downstairs. It was lively yet tranquil.

Sunlight fell on Shen Moyu's desk as he quietly worked on the exercises in his textbook, while Su Jinning sat on the bed playing video games.

Su Jinning was afraid of disturbing his studies, so she wore headphones. Even when her teammates were playing terribly, she didn't dare to yell at them. She could only waste time typing on the keyboard.

This is the fourth loss already, a four-game losing streak!

Su Jinning looked at her "perfect" record on the homepage, where she was the MVP of the losing team all the time, and was so angry that she could barely hold her phone.

He rolled his eyes and slammed backward onto the bed with a thud, staring at the ceiling in a state of existential crisis.

"What? You broke my bed, so I'm sleeping at your place tonight?" Shen Moyu retorted when she heard the voice, but didn't turn around to look at him.

Su Jinning, as if she had found someone to confide in, pulled up a stool and sat down next to Shen Moyu: "Hey, I'm so confused, I'm not bad, am I? Why do I always get matched with this stupid teammate?"

“You’re not a cheat.” Shen Moyu pulled out a test paper, still not looking at him: “But you’re a cheat in the head.”

"Damn it..." Su Jinning's face instantly darkened: "Can't you at least comfort me a little?"

Shen Moyu chuckled but didn't say anything. Su Jinning looked at him studying so diligently and said with a hint of helplessness, "I really don't understand why you study so hard. You don't even play games. How boring is that?"

"Yeah, it's so boring." Shen Moyu paused, his eyes scanning back and forth across the densely packed words in the boring textbook.

Su Jinning didn't notice and continued, "Then relax a bit!"
