Kapitel 66

"Damn it!" Su Jinning cursed, staring at his retreating figure without turning around. She then turned back and asked Gu Junxiao, both angry and innocent, "What did I do to him?"

Gu Junxiao bit his lip and shook his head. In fact, he wasn't completely unaware that when he looked at Shen Moyu just now, besides his rejection of him, there was also a disappointment in someone else's eyes.

Perhaps it was still because of himself, Gu Junxiao thought to himself as he looked down at the tips of his shoes.

"boom--"

The thunder roared, and the heavy rain that had been accumulating in the dark clouds all day finally poured down, accompanied by the sound of thunder and lightning.

The torrential rain whipped up by the gale was like countless thin whips, pounding fiercely against the windows.

Shen Moyu looked outside. The rain was coming down very hard, without any warning, and it seemed like it wouldn't stop anytime soon.

He glanced at his phone, which was off, and couldn't help but think of Su Jinning, who was still watching the basketball game at the court.

He frowned, suddenly realizing he hadn't brought an umbrella. He looked up at the clock; it had been an hour since school ended. With the rain pouring down outside, how was he going to get home?

"Tsk..." Shen Moyu suddenly realized, what was there to worry about? Didn't he have Gu Junxiao by his side?

It's just an umbrella, isn't it? It doesn't matter whose umbrella he uses.

Maybe he's already gone home with someone else.

Shen Moyu took out a test paper and absentmindedly drew stick figures on it. His mood seemed to be affected by the weather outside the window, gloomy and overcast.

I just can't stand them for no reason.

"bite--"

Shen Moyu was drawn in by the WeChat notification sound and glanced at the lit phone screen.

Reluctantly, I picked up my phone and opened WeChat.

Not Ning: [Are you home? Would it be convenient for you to come pick me up?]

Shen Moyu didn't know what she felt when she saw the message; her heart skipped a beat, and she suddenly stood up.

He didn't have time to reply; he hurriedly pulled off his coat draped over the chair and rushed to the entrance to put on his shoes.

"bite--"

Not Ning: [Never mind, the rain is too heavy, don't come over.]

Shen Moyu ignored his message and muttered curses as she picked up the umbrella at her feet.

I really don't understand what this person is thinking all day long, so carefree. Doesn't he know to bring an umbrella when the sky is overcast?

"Mo Yu, are you really going out in this heavy rain?" Xia Wei opened the door and looked at Shen Mo Yu with a worried expression.

Shen Moyu quickly replied after putting on her coat and hat: "My friend didn't bring an umbrella to school, so I'm going to pick him up."

"Oh dear, this is such an important friend. It's raining so hard, you shouldn't go." Xia Wei said this with some anxiety, but she opened the closet and quickly found a raincoat for Shen Moyu.

Shen Moyu stared blankly at Xia Wei, momentarily speechless.

Her words were like the finest and sharpest thorns, piercing my most vulnerable spot.

He stiffly took the raincoat, didn't answer Xia Wei's question, opened the door and ran out.

The rain was still pouring down, pelting the ground in torrents. The deserted streets were shrouded in a gray mist created by the downpour, making it impossible to see anything.

Even with an umbrella and a raincoat, my trousers and shoes still got soaked.

He gasped for breath, the damp, cool air smelling unpleasant, but Shen Moyu inhaled it all anyway.

He suddenly remembered Xia Wei's words.

How important a friend is he? He doesn't know yet, but he does know that he doesn't want that friend to get wet in the rain.

The once bustling streets were now almost deserted, with hardly any cars in sight, let alone taxis. Shen Moyu checked the time; ten minutes had passed. He wondered if Su Jinning was getting impatient, so ignoring the pain in his side stitch, he picked up his umbrella and sped up his run.

"Su Jinning!"

The shouts rang out, and Su Jinning turned around in surprise. Through the heavy rain, he couldn't wait to see who was running towards him.

"Su Jinning! Come here quickly!"

It's Gu Junxiao.

It wasn't him.

Su Jinning's smile froze on her face as she looked at Gu Junxiao's somewhat blurry figure in the rain, and the joy of being saved vanished instantly.

"Luckily I saw you when I passed by our school, otherwise I don't know how you would have gotten back." Gu Junxiao shook his rain-stained hair.

Su Jinning lowered her eyes and mechanically followed Gu Junxiao down the steps of the guardhouse.

A cool breeze carrying a few raindrops slipped into Su Jinning's collar, causing him to shiver and pull his coat tighter around himself.

"Luckily, I finished everything in advance and made it in time." Gu Junxiao smiled with relief, then pointed to the car not far away: "My driver is up ahead, let's hurry."

Su Jinning was pulled by Gu Junxiao and ran in the rain, but large raindrops still inevitably hit her.

A chilling sensation washed over my entire body, yet my heart burned with restlessness and anxiety.

Despite hoping that it would be him coming to pick her up, Su Jinning knew that with the rain so heavy, no one would come to pick her up, not even Gu Junxiao, who was just passing by.

Once in the car, Su Jinning opened her phone and looked at the lock screen, which had no messages at all, her brows furrowed deeply.

The sorrow in his eyes deepened.

Are you too lazy to even reply to your own messages? Do you really not care?

The car swayed precariously through the rain, and Su Jinning grew increasingly irritated by the sound of raindrops hitting the roof. His wet clothes clung to his body, feeling sticky and uncomfortable, which only exacerbated his already bad mood.

He rubbed his still-dripping hair, his thoughts drifting to the endless rain outside the window.

"Ha..." Shen Moyu could no longer distinguish whether the water on his forehead was sweat or rain; he only knew that they were mixed together and flowed down his face to his chest.

Finally, the school gate appeared before her eyes, and Shen Moyu ran straight into the school where there wasn't a soul in sight.

He frantically searched for Su Jinning, but she wasn't at the entrance of the teaching building. He then hurriedly ran towards the guardhouse.

His flustered state in the heavy rain was somewhat comical.

He was running too fast, and a sudden, throbbing pain shot through his ankle, causing him to fall to the ground without warning.

"hiss!"

If it weren't for the burning pain from his knee hitting the ground that brought him back to his senses, he wasn't sure he would be lying face down there.

Although the path was flat, it was still flooded. The heavy rain continued relentlessly, and the water flowed continuously downhill.

He looked at the rainwater stained with blood below his knees, somewhat surprised.

"Hey young man!" The gatekeeper hurried over with an umbrella and helped Shen Moyu, who was too weak to stand up.
