Kapitel 12

"I'm sorry, I don't know his phone number."

"Hmph... So you don't know his name, his profession, or where he lives either?" Captain Wang sneered repeatedly.

"I don't know what he does for a living." Xiao Wenbing glanced at Captain Wang, who looked as if he had known all along.

“But…” Xiao Wenbing smiled slightly and said, “I still remember where his residence is.”

"Hmm?" Xiao Wenbing's answer was clearly a huge surprise to Captain Wang, but after a moment's hesitation, he immediately asked, "Where does he live?"

“He lives in… I don’t know where that is, but I can take you there.”

"Hmph." With a sneer, Captain Wang, thinking he had seen through his intentions, curled his lips in disdain and said, "I know you are very skilled. You were able to take down Captain Zhang's entire group. Such skill is rare, not only in Qiu'ai, but even in the whole country. However, if you think you can escape with your skills, you are just being delusional."

Captain Wang took a sip of water to moisten his dry, itchy throat, and said, "I assure you, as soon as you leave the police station, five guns will be locked on your location at the same time. Your chances of escaping are less than 10%."

"Yes, the more you confess, the more lenient you'll be; the more you resist, the more severe you'll be. You'd better just tell me honestly," a young man next to him urged.

Xiao Wenbing hesitated for a while, but Captain Wang did not urge him; he simply watched him quietly.

After a long pause, Xiao Wenbing sighed deeply and said, "I can only say that if you are willing, I can take you there. As for the rest, I really can't do anything."

A subtle sharpness flashed in Captain Wang's eyes, and his voice grew even lower: "You... insist?"

"Yes, I insist."

The tall birch forest shelters the white stone fountain and statues, while white benches gleam among the flowerbeds, creating a peaceful and beautiful atmosphere.

However, Xiao Wenbing had no appreciation for any of this.

At this moment, he was leaning back in the back seat of a van, his hands behind his head. His hands were covered by clothing, making the shackles on his wrists invisible.

Two plainclothes officers, armed to the teeth, stood beside him and behind him, intently watching Xiao Wenbing's every move. Their watchful attitude made him dare not make any rash moves.

Even when he arrived here by car, he dared not sway too much with the bumpy ride over a pothole. It would be such a shame if he inadvertently caused a misunderstanding and got shot.

"Where?"

“Just go straight down this road, and turn left at the end.”

Xiao Wenbing recounted the story from behind. He didn't know the name of the place, so he could only rely on his memory to find Zhao Feng's private residence.

"Drive slower," Captain Wang instructed, turning back to look at Xiao Wenbing with a noticeable decrease in his previous hostility.

"At first, I thought you were up to something, but now I'm starting to believe you."

"Why?" Xiao Wenbing was puzzled. Even he himself did not believe in himself, so why did Captain Wang have confidence?

Captain Wang pointed to the houses and said, "These are all wealthy people living here, but a few of them are registered with me." He paused, took out a cigarette, lit it, took a deep drag, and said:

"There have been several car thefts in Qiu'ai. I'm sure it's the work of a theft ring. They must have considerable influence in Qiu'ai, but I'm not sure which one it is yet. Take a good look, so you don't go looking for the wrong one."

Xiao Wenbing suddenly realized that the people living around here weren't exactly benevolent. But since even Zhao Feng lived here, didn't that mean he himself wasn't a good person either?

Could it be that the Secret Symbol Sect has also become involved with the underworld?

"We're here. It's right here, the one furthest inside."

Just as he was lost in thought, the van stopped. Xiao Wenbing looked up and recognized the Zhao family's location at a glance.

"The one furthest inside?" Captain Wang poked his head out of the car, looked carefully for a while, then suddenly his expression changed and he quickly shrank back.

"You little rascal, so you still managed to outmaneuver me." Captain Wang's eyes blazed with fury, his fists clenched as he clearly suppressed his anger. "Perhaps you've heard of the owner's reputation here and wanted to use his name to protect yourself. Too bad, you don't know that the owner here would never do such petty theft."

"Why?"

Xiao Wenbing turned around in surprise. It wasn't him who asked the question, but a young police officer next to him.

"Because... never mind, I'll explain later." Captain Wang clearly had some reservations and stopped the conversation there.

"Captain, someone's here."

Xiao Wenbing looked up and saw that a side door of the Zhao family's private residence had been opened, and two burly men in black suits came out.

"Oh no, our actions have attracted their attention. Quick, put the guns away, don't take them out!" Captain Wang ordered sternly.

Xiao Wenbing was secretly delighted. It seemed that Zhao Feng indeed had some status. He had really found the right person today.

As soon as the two men arrived in front of the van, Captain Wang rolled down the window and greeted them with a smile, "Hello, brothers."

They clearly knew each other, and one of them laughed and said, "So it's Captain Wang. I thought it was some ignorant little thief coming to scout things out."

Captain Wang smiled awkwardly and said, "What are you talking about? We're just out on a covert patrol. We've taken taxpayers' money, so of course we have to provide them with the best protection."

"Thank you very much, Captain Wang." The two men said politely, but their eyes were glancing into the car.

Their gazes changed slightly the moment they met Xiao Wenbing's face.

Xiao Wenbing knew, of course, that although he didn't know them, he had just walked out of there, and that he had been personally and respectfully escorted by Zhao Feng.

If these two gatekeepers still don't recognize them, then they can pack their bags and go home to take care of their children.

"And who is this...?" one person asked, looking at Captain Wang with a questioning gaze.

Captain Wang was taken aback and was about to explain when he heard a lazy voice behind him: "Tell Zhao Feng that I'm here and have him come out to meet me."

Captain Wang's body stiffened, and he turned around abruptly, looking at Xiao Wenbing in disbelief.

The two men exchanged a glance, but unusually, they showed no anger whatsoever.

Although they didn't know who Xiao Wenbing was or his relationship with Zhao Feng, they had all witnessed Zhao Feng's extremely respectful and humble attitude towards this young man.

Such a person is not someone I can boss around.

One of them responded and immediately turned and ran inside. The other, however, cautiously smiled and said, "Mr. Zhao will be here shortly, please..."

A look of panic appeared on Captain Wang's face, and a bead of sweat rolled down his forehead.

He had a keen eye and knew at a glance that something was wrong, but at this moment he was completely helpless.

A moment later, Zhao Feng rushed over, followed closely by three burly men, who were the three disciples who had accompanied them shopping. Clearly, these disciples were his confidants.

"Mr. Xiao..."

Upon seeing Xiao Wenbing with the police, Zhao Feng remained outwardly calm, but his eyes were filled with questions.

Xiao Wenbing shifted slightly. He hadn't dared to move when those dark creatures pointed at him. But now…

He chuckled and said, "Mr. Zhao, look."

He lowered his head and bent over. Zhao Feng stared intently, a blush rising to his face, and a glint of light flashing in his eyes.

Although her wrists were wrapped in a thin layer of clothing, the protrusions of the three shackles were still quite obvious. Any seasoned veteran with a keen eye would recognize them at a glance.

Zhao Feng didn't say anything, but simply opened the car door and stepped in.

Captain Wang gave a wry smile, not daring to stop them.

However, a young policeman, seeing his hostile expression, was startled and abruptly drew his folded pistol, pointed it at him, and shouted, "Stop! Don't..."

However, before he could even utter the word "move," he felt a sharp pain in his wrist, and the gun involuntarily fell to the ground. A surge of force sent him flying through the air inside the carriage, crashing heavily into the roof before mercilessly slamming into the aisle.

A trickle of bright red liquid flowed from the corner of his mouth, and he fell into a coma.

The others were shocked and were about to draw their guns when they heard Captain Wang shout, "Don't draw your guns! Stay where you are and don't move!"

Captain Wang clearly held a very high position in their hearts, and his words had an immediate effect; the others indeed made no further unnecessary moves.

Xiao Wenbing was secretly shocked. He knew that Zhao Feng was not simple when he was inside the mountain gate, but he still did not expect him to be so ruthless.

His gaze swept over the young policeman lying on the ground. This man would need at least a year and a half to recover, and he would likely suffer from lingering health problems.

Zhao Feng's attack was much heavier than his.

A sudden realization dawned on him. After all, Zhao Feng had been following the old Taoist Xianyun for decades. Although he had never been able to comprehend spiritual power, he was still considered half a Taoist immortal.

He certainly felt some resentment towards the old Taoist priest Xianyun for not taking them, the outer disciples, seriously. But wasn't he himself feeling the same way?

The police, figures that are difficult for ordinary people to deal with, were not taken seriously by Zhao.

The old Taoist priest regarded him as dust, and he, in turn, regarded ordinary people as pigs and dogs.

These lives were absolutely nothing to him.

A sudden chill ran through him, and Xiao Wenbing's gaze turned colder as he looked at him.

Zhao Feng stopped in his tracks. He was nearly twice the age of Xiao Wenbing, and their experience was far inferior. Upon seeing Xiao Wenbing's eyes and expression, he immediately understood his thoughts.

His face immediately changed to one of trepidation, and he quickly stepped forward, tearing the clothes off Xiao Wenbing's hands, revealing the three pairs of cold handcuffs.

Captain Wang was about to take the key out of his pocket when he saw Zhao Feng grab both ends of the handcuffs and, to everyone's astonishment, forcefully rip them open.

In Zhao Feng's hands, these handcuffs made of fine steel became nothing more than a child's toy.

He tore off three pairs of handcuffs for Xiao Wenbing, kneaded the scraps of iron in his hand like dough, and casually tossed them at Captain Wang's feet.

At this moment, the way the police officers, including Captain Wang, looked at him was completely different. It was filled with disbelief and fear, as if he were no longer a person, but a monster in human skin.

"Mr. Xiao, are you alright?" Zhao Feng asked cautiously.

"fine."
