Chapter 18

Qi Xiaoyan took a long stride, walked to her in two steps, and picked her up in his arms.

The moment her feet left the ground, Yang Wei's heart seemed to leap into the air. She instinctively wrapped her arms around Qi Xiaoyan's neck, a hint of anger flashing in her beautiful eyes: "What are you doing? Put me down!"

"Don't make a sound, Mrs. Qi." Qi Xiaoyan's melodious voice, as pleasant as a piano, rang in her ears, and his warm breath made Yang Wei's cheeks slightly flushed. She turned her head away, refusing to look at Qi Xiaoyan's features and profile that could easily stir her emotions: "Mr. Qi, I am no longer Mrs. Qi."

Qi Xiaoyan pursed her lips, remaining silent. The elevator was so quiet that only their heartbeats could be heard. It felt like an eternity before the elevator doors finally opened, and Qi Xiaoyan stepped out and placed Yang Wei on the floor.

Yang Wei straightened her clothes, watching Qi Xiaoyan's retreating figure as he opened the door. Many times before, they had walked home together like this; Yang Wei loved the feeling of walking into the house with him. Her nose tingled again; she sniffed and turned her head to the side.

"What are you still standing there for?" Qi Xiaoyan called out to her from the doorway. Yang Wei bit her lip and walked in fiercely.

Qi Xiaoyan chuckled softly and closed the door behind her.

After entering, Yang Wei stood motionless in the living room, her eyes constantly scanning Qi Xiaoyan's "new home." The university's single dormitory for professors was much better than the student dormitory, but it was still a simple two-bedroom apartment, not very large, and without any high-end decoration. There wasn't much furniture in the room; the living room only had a table and a sofa, and a few white shirts were hanging outside the window.

Yang Wei blinked. It was truly a sin to make Professor Qi confine himself to such a place.

As soon as Qi Xiaoyan returned, she started rummaging through the bedroom. Yang Wei walked to the bedroom door, glanced at her, and asked impatiently, "What are you looking for?"

Qi Xiaoyan pulled a photo album out of a cardboard box and dusted it off: "This is it."

He stood up, placed the photo album on the computer desk, and turned to Yang Wei, saying, "Come here."

Yang Wei stood still for two seconds before stepping inside. Qi Xiaoyan's slender fingers flew across the photo album, like a butterfly fluttering among flowers. Yang Wei felt a little dizzy, but thankfully Qi Xiaoyan stopped in time and pushed the album in front of her: "This is it, take a look."

Yang Wei glanced at him before looking down at the photo album. It contained a group photo with an indoor basketball court in the background. Yang Wei immediately spotted Qi Xiaoyan standing in the middle of the group. He was wearing a red and white striped jersey, his hair was tied in a small bun at the back of his head, and he was staring at the camera expressionlessly.

"This is Song Jin, who was the team manager at the time."

Qi Xiaoyan tapped a girl's face with her fingertip, then quickly withdrew it. Yang Wei glanced over instinctively. The girl in the photo had short, neat hair, wore a loose-fitting European-style T-shirt and harem pants, was holding a basketball, and was smiling coolly at the camera.

Do you still think you resemble her?

Qi Xiaoyan's voice was neither hot nor cold, but it was like a butterfly gently flapping its wings; a tiny movement could trigger a tsunami.

Yang Wei's eyes flickered, and she looked away from the photo.

They really don't look alike at all. If Qi Xiaoyan hadn't told her, she definitely wouldn't have recognized this as Song Jin.

“When I first met Song Jin, she was called Song Xiaofang. The Song Jin you see now is just an idol created by the company.” Qi Xiaoyan closed the photo album and put it back in the cardboard box.

Yang Wei stood to one side with her head down, neither speaking nor moving, only occasionally tugging at the small charm on her handbag.

"But your hairstyle looks pretty good too." Qi Xiaoyan's voice suddenly came from across the room. Yang Wei looked up at him, and the latter looked away uncomfortably.

A smile unconsciously crept onto Yang Wei's lips as she looked at Qi Xiaoyan and said approvingly, "Mr. Qi's aesthetic sense seems to have improved recently. I've seen the photos; can I go home now?"

Qi Xiaoyan thought for a moment and asked, "Have you had lunch?"

Yang Wei said, "I was planning to eat it, but you dragged me away halfway through."

Qi Xiaoyan said, "Then I'll treat you to lunch." He then went into the kitchen. Yang Wei followed and saw him take some vegetables and meat from the refrigerator, raising an eyebrow slightly. She knew Qi Xiaoyan could cook, and he was exceptionally good at it. However, she usually did the cooking; she didn't always have the chance to enjoy Professor Qi's personally prepared meals.

So Yang Wei wasn't in a hurry to leave. She stood at the door and looked at Qi Xiaoyan, asking, "Why are you still cooking for yourself? The cafeteria isn't far from here."

Qi Xiaoyan waited until the sink was full of water, then threw the vegetables from the cutting board into it: "I sometimes cook for myself."

Yang Wei stood by and watched, showing no intention of helping. After standing there for a while, she went to the living room to watch TV.

Qi Xiaoyan cooked the meal very efficiently, finishing in just over half an hour. Yang Wei looked at the three dishes and soup on the table, tasted each one, and then deliberately complained: "The stir-fried phoenix tail is too salty, the shredded pork with green peppers isn't spicy enough, the green beans are still a bit raw, and the tofu soup has no flavor at all."

Qi Xiaoyan picked up her chopsticks without changing her expression and tasted each dish: "Personally, I think they taste much better than what you make."

Yang Wei: "..."

I'm not eating anymore!

In the end, the two of them ate all the food on their plates. Yang Wei let out a happy little burp, thinking that she could probably skip dinner tonight.

While Qi Xiaoyan was washing dishes in the kitchen, Yang Wei grabbed her bag and called out, "I'm leaving now!" Before Qi Xiaoyan could reply, she dashed out.

Hearing the soft sound of the door closing, Qi Xiaoyan glanced back before continuing to wash the dishes.

After returning home, Yang Wei slept until six o'clock in the evening. Remembering she had class later, she finally got out of bed and turned on her computer.

After aimlessly browsing Weibo for a while, Yang Wei clicked on the "Wait Three More Minutes" homepage. She had already changed her profile picture to the one Yang Wei had chosen for herself. Yang Wei scrolled through her feed and saw a Weibo post she had made that afternoon: "I'm not in a good mood today, no new posts, I just want some peace and quiet. [Bye]"

A group of readers in the comments were asking her who Jingjing was. Yang Wei chuckled and sent her a private message: "Hey, what's wrong with you (⊙o⊙)?"

Wait three more minutes V: I'm pursuing my goddess, but things aren't going well (ノへ ̄、)

Yang Wei didn't pay much attention to the word "goddess," but kindly encouraged him, "Go for it, Da Da! Ren Yingying was able to win over Linghu Chong, and Mu Guiying was able to win over Yang Zongbao, so you'll definitely be able to win over your goddess!"

Wait three more minutes V: Thank you, I feel much better ^_^

A minute later, Yang Wei received a text message from Fang Chengran: "Are you free tomorrow? I'd like to invite you to a movie ^_^"

Author's Note: I strongly condemn the female protagonist's behavior of taking advantage of me and then leaving!

twenty four

Yang Wei held her phone for three seconds, considered it, and replied, "Sure."

"Then I'll pick you up at 2 PM tomorrow."

"OK—"

Fang Chengran's lips unconsciously curled into a smile as he read Yang Wei's reply, and he updated his Weibo in a good mood: "I've decided to post a new article tonight. Don't you guys feel like your lives are full of surprises now? [doge]"

Readers: "..."

Women are just so fickle!

The new novel, titled "The Princess Who Belongs Only to Me in the Whole World," is a Western fantasy novel told from the male protagonist's perspective. After eagerly awaiting its release, readers unanimously typed in their astonishment in the comments section after finishing the first chapter: "The author must be in love! This is so normal, it's not scientific!"

However, Yang Wei didn't see this post until later; she was currently busy teaching. Tonight's main task was to correct everyone's assignments. Yang Wei copied the drawings from the assignment post to her drawing software and began revising them one by one.

The class had students with no prior experience as well as those with a strong foundation, such as the future rich and handsome student, who clearly had studied sketching. Yang Wei made a few minor corrections, telling him to pay attention to depicting the character's expression, and then turned to Li Gou Dan's homework.

"Uh..." Yang Wei didn't know how to comment on his homework for a moment. The style of this simple drawing was outstanding even among elementary school students. Although each person's head was only sketched with a few strokes, the proportions were surprisingly good, and the positions of the facial features were drawn with exceptional precision.

"Li Gou Dan's drawing has no problem with proportions, but it's a portrait, not a map. Next time, you can pay more attention to the details." Yang Wei said as she modified the original drawing, adding just a few simple strokes, which brought the whole face to life.

998: The teacher is indeed a master! (orz)

Coco: Huajuan Plastic Surgery Studio √

Li Gou Dan :)

"Finally, only one student's drawing is left." Yang Wei breathed a sigh of relief. "Hmm, Coco's assignment... did you draw an alien?"

cocoa:……

Coco: Teacher, please don't torture me QAQ

"It's okay, it's normal to not draw well at first. Your eyes are too far apart, you need to draw the ears a little lower."

Coco: Teacher, why didn't you correct my homework on April Fool's Day? At least then I could have lied and said it was very well drawn QAQ

Yang Wei paused for a moment before saying heavily, "Some lies are just too painful to tell, even on April Fool's Day."

cocoa:……

Future rich and handsome guy: Hahahahahaha

998: Best of the day.

Li Gou Dan :)

"Alright, we'll start learning about the human body next class. That concludes today's lesson. Goodnight, everyone." Yang Wei finished speaking and left the classroom. It was already 10:30, but she had slept for too long in the afternoon and wasn't sleepy at all.

She was just about to find a TV series to watch when her phone vibrated. Yang Wei picked it up and saw it was a text message from her younger brother, Yang Ming. She twitched her lips; was he going to ask her to pretend to be his girlfriend again so soon?

She held her phone for a moment, then clicked to check.

"Sis, the girl who followed me last time was actually my elementary school deskmate, Wen Xue! Her mother remarried, and her name is now Shen Qing! I don't know why she changed her name! And she used to have long hair! I didn't recognize her at all! (Mao Jidan)!"

Yang Wei: "..."

Through the balut and the series of exclamation marks, she fully understood Yang Ming's emotional breakdown at this moment.

"Didn't you tell me that first love is a dream a man never wants to wake up from? Are you being sarcastic? :)"

Yang Wei knew she shouldn't kick someone when they're down, but for some reason... it just felt so good.

After Yang Wei finished watching an episode of the TV series, she still hadn't received a reply from Yang Ming, and she began to worry that her younger brother might be contemplating suicide.

"Hey, are you thinking of doing something rash? You've broken so many girls' hearts, it's only right that you're getting your comeuppance now."

Oh no, I meant to comfort him, but somehow I got all excited again.

However, Yang Ming quickly replied this time: "I now think that what men miss is not their first love, but their former selves."

Yang Wei was taken aback. She was quite unaccustomed to her brother suddenly saying something so philosophical: "Go talk to her. Maybe you can still salvage the relationship."

Yang Ming: "It's no use. I went to see her today, and she was very firm. She said that I only like the image of her in my memory, not the real her. Since that's the case, she hopes that this memory will remain in my heart forever. Isn't that ridiculous? The most ridiculous thing is that I actually think she's right."

Yang Wei: "I don't know how to comfort you at a time like this. I just want to smile quietly for a while."

Yang Ming: "Holy crap, you're really my sister???"

Yang Wei: "Alright, sweetie, I'll treat you to barbecue tomorrow at noon to soothe your wounded heart."

Yang Ming: "Lilith BBQ at Starlight Plaza, 11:00 AM. Don't be late."

Yang Wei: "...Hmm."

She put down her phone, yawned, and went to the bathroom to wash up.

The morning sunlight streamed through the sunflower-patterned curtains in the bedroom, seemingly carrying the unique fragrance of flowers. Yang Wei was fast asleep, clutching her blanket, when her phone on the bedside table rang unexpectedly. Startled, she fumbled for the phone and answered, "Hello..."

"I knew you were still sleeping, it's already 10:10!" Yang Ming's voice came through the receiver, mixed with the faint sounds of laughter. Yang Wei rolled over and reluctantly sat up: "Okay, okay, you're a starving ghost reincarnated."

"I'm heartbroken right now, really heartbroken! I could have a mental breakdown if I'm not careful!"

Yang Wei's lips twitched slightly: "Your mother won't let you act out of character; she'll introduce you to a dozen in no time."

Yang Ming seemed to recall Yang Wei's spectacular feat of going on four blind dates in one afternoon last time. She twitched her eyebrows and slipped on her shoes from the ground: "I can chase after the sunrise myself, so she doesn't need to worry about it. I'm leaving now, so hurry up."

"Okay, okay." Yang Wei hung up the phone and got up to wash up. Yang Ming put on a coat and tidied her hair in front of the mirror. One of her roommates teased, "Dressed up so flamboyantly, got another date with a hot girl?"

"Yes." Yang Ming picked up the phone from the table, tapped a few times to show him, "This is it, what do you think?"

The rest of the dorm roommates gathered around, and upon seeing the photo, they were filled with envy, jealousy, and resentment: "Holy crap, you're so beautiful! How come all the pretty girls ask you out but not me!"
