Chapter 40

"I'm going to kiss you." Huo Duan gripped his waist, his voice hoarse, giving him no chance to think or answer.

Warm, soft, and it went straight in.

They entangled, intertwined, and bumped into each other, almost devouring one another.

Huo Duan's movements were chaotic, clumsy, and fiery, his entire body burning. Gu Fengyan's mind went blank, his mouth filled with the taste of blood.

Huo Duan said he wanted to kiss him?

He couldn't think anymore what Huo Duan had just called him; he had gone limp like spring water, closing his eyes and immersing himself in it.

I have no idea what day it is.

A note from the author:

It's a little late, but it's thick and long enough!

Thank you so much for your support! I will continue to work hard!

Chapter Thirty-Eight

The moon rises above the treetops, insects chirp outside the pavilion, and the night breeze dissipates most of the wine's warmth.

Gu Fengyan nestled softly in Huo Duan's arms, completely drunk despite not having drunk a drop of alcohol.

Her cheeks were flushed, and her eyes were soft and tender.

"Mr. Huo, shall I help you?" He whispered in Huo Duan's ear, panting, his rosy lips glistening with moisture.

In his hazy, drunken state, Huo Duan's nose was filled with that intoxicating fragrance... and his lips and teeth tasted sweet.

"No." He grabbed Gu Fengyan's hand and pressed it against his heart. "Just stay here for a little while..."

My heart is pounding.

Gu Fengyan lowered his eyes, kissed his cheek and neck, mischievously leaving a tooth mark, "This makes me uncomfortable."

He shifted slightly, but quickly became too afraid to move...

“I’m in pain too,” Huo Duan said, rubbing the bloody cut on his lips with his fingertips and kissing it. “Don’t move. Just stay here with me for a while.”

Thinking that all these reactions were because of him, Gu Fengyan's heart softened drastically. He hooked his arm around Huo Duan and responded fiercely, panting, "This is a reward for you."

Huo Duan was quite pleased; his heart was pounding so hard his chest felt like it was going to explode.

"Aren't you going to reward me with something else?" He smirked and nuzzled, having found the right spot.

Gu Fengyan's waist went limp, and she let out a small "hmm," looking at Huo Duan's face, which was flushed red.

"Want anything else? Get lost!" he said, biting Huo Duan in a muffled voice.

This was the first time Gu Fengyan had experienced this. After calming down, she felt quite embarrassed and buried her face in Huo Duan's neck without moving. "You're not drunk at all."

Huo Duan helped the person up, gazed at them for a long time, and kissed them again and again, as if it wasn't enough.

"Trying to be an ostrich?" He chuckled softly, his eyes lowered.

Gu Fengyan raised his eyes, looking relaxed. "How come you can act as convincingly as I have?"

"To get a kiss from Young Master Gu, I had no choice but to pretend." Huo Duan smiled, his eyes filled with tenderness, "Ayan, Ayan..."

"Why are you calling me that?" The two words that came out of Huo Duan's mouth sounded like some kind of spell, making his heart itch unbearably.

Huo Duan didn't answer, but just nuzzled his neck, calling out in a low voice, "Ayan, Ayan."

It's so persistent it's scary.

Gu Fengyan had never seen anyone call his name so gently... Huo Duan was the first.

“Ayan is here.” He kissed him.

I wish I could remain intoxicated and never wake up.

On the second day after moving, neither Gu Fengyan nor Huo Duan got up early. It was almost noon before there was any movement from the two rooms facing each other across the courtyard.

Gu Fengyan was carried back to his room by Huo Duan in the middle of the night; he was so sleepy that he could barely keep his eyes open.

I don't know why she had to feed the mosquitoes in the waterside pavilion in the middle of the night... People in love are definitely a little bit crazy. Gu Fengyan smiled and pushed open the door to look into Huo Duan's room.

Huo Duan didn't stay last night; he just sent him back and left... Gu Fengyan was very puzzled.

Now that they've already talked things out, kissed, and touched each other, why are they pretending to be such virtuous gentlemen?

"Let's see how long you can keep up this act!" he said to Huo Duan's tightly closed door.

Today happens to be market day in the county, and you can hear the vendors' cries from the next courtyard... Breakfast has already been served, and it's just lunchtime. The shouts are all for roasted pork, mutton, lard pastries and fruits, and some stir-fried side dishes.

Gu Fengyan turned out of the door, feeling quite hungry after listening all the way.

Yesterday's housewarming party was a bit greasy and meaty, so I'd like to switch to something lighter.

He and Huo Duangang bought a house. They needed money to treat Huo's father's illness and to do business later... No amount of money was ever enough, so they had to save as much as possible.

We don't need to buy any more food; there are some leftover vegetables from yesterday, so we can just cook something with them.

Gu Fengyan headed towards the kitchen, passing by a small garden where Huo Adie was weeding, wearing a straw hat. He didn't know where he got it from, but there were hoes, rakes, and other tools next to him.

The old man has farmed all his life; asking him to do nothing but enjoy life all day would be torture.

"Father." Gu Fengyan walked over and greeted him.

Father Huo wiped his sweat, looked up and smiled, "You're up?"

The sun in the sky was getting bigger and bigger, and Gu Fengyan's skin was burning hot from the heat.

"Why didn't you wake us up, Father? The sun is already high. Let's clean up this afternoon." He helped pull some weeds and put the hoe and other things under the eaves.

“You must be tired from entertaining so many people yesterday. You need to get some sleep.” Uncle Huo smiled. “I thought this land was just sitting there empty, so I thought I’d grow some vegetables like we did at the old house, so we can eat fresh vegetables.”

Gu Fengyan then remembered that the vegetables planted behind the old house had not yet been harvested.

"Huo Duan and I are often busy with business, so Father can keep things tidy up the house." As they reached the porch, he smiled and said, "By the way, Father, has there been any news from the village?"

Ye Shan was put in charge of the village's medicinal herb purchasing and processing. He and Huo Duan were happy to be hands-off managers, but they still had to keep an eye on things.

Uncle Huo said, "This morning your aunt sent a message through Xue Dalang, saying that Dashan and Jingge'er's wedding has been moved up to the seventh day of next month, and asked you and Erdan to come back to the village to help with the preparations when you have time."

"Why the rush?" Gu Fengyan remembered that it was originally scheduled for the 25th.

Father Huo sighed, his brows furrowed. "Alas, they say that Jing-ge went back yesterday, but he fell ill again last night. Da-shan was so worried that he didn't sleep a wink all night. He begged the Liu family to arrange the wedding as soon as possible so that he could take care of him."

Yesterday, Liu Jingyu clearly looked more energetic than usual, and he was always smiling with Ye Shan. He also seemed to have a good appetite. How did he suddenly become like this again?

Gu Fengyan was stunned for a moment. The image of Ye Shan and Liu Jingyu laughing and talking happily, their love unwavering, flashed through his mind, and he felt a deep sense of melancholy.

“I see,” Gu Fengyan nodded. “Alright, then when Huo Duan gets up, he’ll be free today, and I’ll go back with him. I’ll leave the house to Father.”

Liu Jingyu's illness wasn't anything urgent; with some high-quality medicinal herbs and gentle care, he would recover over time. However, these herbs were quite expensive.

Although it's expensive, problems that can be solved with money aren't really problems, and illnesses that can be cured with money aren't serious illnesses. Paying a little more for a full recovery is worthwhile.

...

After Huo's father had eaten breakfast, Gu Fengyan only cooked for him and Huo Duan.

The leftover vegetables from yesterday were still fresh in the water. Gu Fengyan stir-fried some water spinach, mixed cucumber shreds with vinegar, and simmered some pork rib soup.

The vegetables were arranged in the pavilion under the trees in the small garden, where a cool breeze rustled the leaves.

Huo Duan came by the smell, but he wasn't attracted by the food; he was attracted by Gu Fengyan.

Drunk and having received a kiss he had longed for, he still had to remain steadfast and unmoved in the latter half of the night. This night was truly unbearable for him.

The next day was a rare treat. When I opened the window, I saw Gu Fengyan setting out a meal under the tree.

As if deliberately reminding him, she was still wearing that crimson dress.

Huo Duan's mind was filled with the image of Gu Fengyan panting softly, her moist lips, her slender, snow-white neck, and her supple, long legs straddling his sides.

He couldn't possibly sleep anymore; seeing Gu Fengyan made him lose half his soul. He threw on his clothes and left the house.

Hearing the footsteps, Gu Fengyan didn't even turn his head. "Where did this wild fox come from? Get lost."

Huo Duan was still quite uneasy about everything he did last night, driven by alcohol.

Upon seeing him, he had no other thoughts; his mind and eyes were filled only with Gu Fengyan.

"My wife really loves me, getting up so early to make breakfast." He pretended to look at the dishes on the table, then wrapped his tall body around her, his breath whispering in Gu Fengyan's ear.

The tall figure exuded a strong sense of oppression, firmly enveloping Gu Fengyan in shadow.

I really don't know why he's so tall.

Gu Fengyan turned around, looked up and smiled, "Not pretending to be drunk today?"

Her eyes were as soft as spring water.

Huo Duan took advantage of the situation, since she was his own wife anyway.

"I'm not pretending anymore. From now on, we can kiss if we don't want to." He hugged Xu Gufengyan tightly and gently bit her moist lips.

Gu Fengyan had to stand on tiptoe... he was practically hidden in Huo Duan's arms.

From behind, you can only see the toes.

Gu Fengyan panted lightly, "Daytime debauchery."

"If we can't talk about it during the day, then what about tonight?" Huo Duan asked mischievously. "My beauty, is your husband home today?"

Gu Fengyan felt a tingling sensation in her waist and eyes, and her body went limp. "My husband will be home soon, and then you won't be able to escape."

“Your husband is more powerful than me… my waist is weak.” Huo Duan scooped up Gu Fengyan and pinched his waist.

A fire ignited within Gu Fengyan, alarm bells blaring in his mind. He quickly pushed Huo Duan away, his face flushed, "He's much more capable than you. Give up on that idea as soon as possible."

Huo Duan's smile deepened as he stroked Huo Duan's cheek, his fingertips sliding down to his collarbone. "Ayan, tell me how amazing I am. How come I didn't know?"

This meal is going to be a disaster... Gu Fengyan trembled all over, but Huo Duan, who was full of lewd talk, didn't even dare to get on his bed when it came to actually doing it.

“No.” He glanced at Huo Duan.

Huo Duan was calm and collected, waiting for him to speak, but all he said were those two words.

"No?!" He wondered if he had misheard.
