Chapter 20

Zhu Yao gave a wry smile; Rolf was now practically maxed out with debuffs.

She jumped into the newly opened passage, and just as she was about to enter the next scene, a huge steel object came towards her and almost hit her.

Zhu Yao gasped and dodged with lightning speed.

The reactor is still spinning...

After carefully observing the terrain and mastering the rhythm of the rotating steel pipe, Zhu Yao began to cautiously move forward, taking a few breaths of oxygen along the way.

Yu Nan nodded approvingly, sensing that Zhu Yao had picked it up very quickly.

I can't believe this is the first time she's seriously playing a game.

At twenty-seven years old, you can achieve this level of skill even though you've only been playing games for a short time.

If I had met Zhu Yao a few years earlier, I could have made her shine in the gaming world much earlier.

However... I haven't been focusing on games in the past few years.

Zhu Yao climbed to the top of the steel pipe and discovered that the pipe was connected to a high-voltage line and was rotating.

"Jump!" Yu Nan suddenly shouted.

Zhu Yao subconsciously pressed the jump button, and Rolf instantly jumped about three or four meters into the air, dodging the attack.

That's right, it's the moon now, so it's naturally quite light...

“You were too far from the save point just now,” Yu Nan suddenly explained. “I subconsciously gave you a heads-up.”

"I don't care," Zhu Yao tried to reassure Yu Nan that she wouldn't mind spoilers, "I can figure out the patterns myself anyway."

Yu Nan: "..."

“MPT overload, system integrity…60%”

Zhu Yao entered a room filled with steam.

Using the steps that emitted deadly steam, she ran up them in perfect rhythm.

Sometimes, things that seem deadly can be used as a road...

Having successfully escaped the deadly steam room, Zhu Yao arrived at a control panel and activated something. A system electronic voice sounded – “Release reserves.”

"MPT overload".

In the scene, Rolf looked around blankly.

"MPT overload".

Rolf slammed his fist on the console.

"MPT overload".

"MPT overload".

"MPT overload".

The system's electronic voice repeated faster and faster, and sparks began to fly from the console. Rolf took a few steps back in a daze.

"MPT overload".

"Oh no, it's going to explode!" Zhu Yao shouted.

Instantly, white light filled the screen, followed by a piercing whistling sound, and then it went dark again.

Rolf crashed heavily to the ground, and the little robot paced anxiously around him, its big eyes fixed on Rolf as he struggled to his feet.

Zhu Yao could even see its worry.

Rolf clutched his stomach, slowly got up, and limped forward.

The little robot floated beside his shoulder, its eyes blinking as it stared intently at him.

“MPT overload, system integrity…50%”

The screen began to distort, seemingly simulating what a person sees when they are dizzy.

As Rolf limped, the scene began to shake, and a countdown appeared in the upper center of the screen.

2:15…2:14…

"Align the MPT to resume the transmission process and relieve stress."

Everything has returned to the most desperate starting point.

Suffering from radiation and serious injuries, the machine just broke down again.

Rolf's heartbeat began to appear and grew louder, even drowning out the system's announcement.

At that moment, all they could hear was the heavy thumping of their hearts.

Like a hero, Rolf walked into the radiation-filled passageway leading to the control room in the final moments of his life.

Countdown 1:56…

He was going to manually align the machine.

“MPT overload, system integrity…40%”

Rolf climbed up the platform.

With 1:30 left, he sat down in the control room, his left hand covering his abdomen, and his right hand gripping the handle used to align the MPT.

Chapter 20 Yu Nan's Bet

“MPT overload, system integrity... 30%”

The computer turned on, the screen was shaking, and I could see a white, rocky lunar landscape and a very blue space.

There was a crosshair in the middle of the screen, but it was so bright that Zhu Yao couldn't see it clearly.

Zhu Yao began moving the handle to focus on the dish antenna beside her.

The screen went dark.

Rolf seemed to be about to collapse. He had almost fainted when he looked down, but he managed to stay awake and look back at the screen.

Continue focusing…

It seemed that he managed to hold on for 5 seconds this time. Rolf's heart was beating faster and faster, and he almost fainted again.

The little robot flew to the computer screen, nestled on the table, and looked at Rolf. Its eyes flickered with white light, perhaps because it was moving, or perhaps because Rolf was about to lose his sight.

Continue focusing…

“MPT overload, system integrity... 20%”

Zhu Yao successfully met the target, but then the screen went dark again, as Rolf seemed to be reaching his limit.

25 seconds countdown

“MPT overload, system integrity…10%”

Finally, it matched.

The screen tilted backward, and all the scattered radiation and sparks seemed to be guided—they began to fly in the same direction.

They gathered together, making a "buzzing" engine-like sound, and then coalesced into a blue-white sphere of light, which began to emit a sharp electrical crackling.

The screen went dark again, and Rolf's heart pounded even faster.

"WPA alignment successful".

"Waiting for transmission to resume."

Rolf sat in his seat, his heart pounding louder and louder, the screen dimming faster and faster, as if he would never open his eyes again in the next second.

He pulled the handbrake.

Instantly, a beam of white and blue light shot out, filling the screen with white.

"Transmission restored. Link established with Earth."

The scene transitions to outside the lunar base.

The long-silent lunar base lit up, and a white-blue laser beam shot onto the link tower in the lunar outpost.

The link tower then emitted blue-white lasers, transmitting energy to other facilities, and the base gradually regained power.

Zhu Yao saw that the devices that were originally scattered alone on the bare lunar rocks were connected one by one by blue and white lasers, forming a blue and white net.

Finally, they reunited at the space station.

Although the Libra area of the space station continues to be damaged and more and more facilities are floating in mid-air, the entire space station has lit up.

Who would have thought that Rolf was just spun around there, almost ending the fate of humanity?

Finally, all the blue and white light converged at the top of the tower, pointing towards the distant, yellowish-brown Earth, and all despair transformed into hope.

A blue-white beam of light, thicker than a space elevator, shot straight out and hurtled toward Earth at a visible speed.

Scene transition to Earth

Five years later, the signal tower, which had been encroached upon by sand and isolated in the heart of the desert, finally received power.

It's clear that the cell tower has been abandoned for a long time, perhaps because humanity had given up hope.

But they still chose to send Rolf to the moon…

The scene returns to the control room, where Rolf is slumped on the console, and a round little robot is bumping his hand with its body, seemingly trying to wake him up.

"Fortuna One, this is...!? Unbelievable, we've received it!" The NPC girl finally logged on, and she was so excited that she couldn't speak coherently.

Rolf slowly stood up, clutching his stomach, and looked through the window of the control room at the blue-white pillar of light that foreshadowed the future of humanity.

The NPC girl was still talking when the little robot suddenly nudged him. It turned out there was a holographic projection next to the control room, showing one person carrying another as they walked deeper into the room.
