Chapter 10

Chapter 9 Food Chain Rules

"Huh? Didn't find it?" Wen Yunyi frowned.

Wen Cheng told his family at home that he didn't want them to know about the job he had chosen, and asked them not to inquire.

Ha, that's ridiculous. Is Wen Yunyi the kind of person who would just sit and wait to die?

He realized that Wen Cheng had learned from his mistakes and become smarter. He no longer bothered with the low-level tricks he used to use. Now, only by knowing yourself and your enemy can you win every battle.

Wen Yunyi's secretary, Xiao Zhang, was in a terrible predicament. He wasn't allowed to ask about personnel matters, so finding someone was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Boss, do you really not know how many departments and employees your company has?

"Yes, I searched the whole building today and couldn't find him. If I go to HR, I'll definitely get caught. Several colleagues from other departments who I'm close to also said they've never seen him."

Wen Yunyi frowned and ordered in a very unpleasant tone: "Wen Cheng's major is computer science. Can't you narrow down the search and look again? Running around the whole company, what else can he do? Do you really think Wen Cheng would want to be a security guard?"

"Snap!"

Under the blazing sun, Wen Cheng sat leisurely in the security room. The highly opaque glass blocked out the direct sunlight, and the room was equipped with air conditioning and snacks. Even the chair was a swivel office chair with a soft cushion, making it very comfortable.

Wen Cheng munched on the half cucumber the security guard had given him, then comfortably sprawled in his chair playing on his phone.

"So, Chengcheng, isn't this job great? Full-time office work, nice environment, all you have to do is open the gates for the vehicles coming in and out." The security guard chatted with Wen Cheng for an hour, and they seemed to be good buddies already.

Wen Cheng nodded. What could be wrong with this kind of job? It's wonderful!

But the job was easier than he had expected.

"Uncle, I thought we were going on patrol or something." Wen Cheng chewed on a cucumber and took a sip of iced cola.

The security guard looked like he had something to say. "Chengcheng, you don't know this. We're just unofficial security guards. How could a big company like Wenshi hire an old man like me to maintain order? Their security guards are professionals. They need to be selected through strict processes. They have to patrol three times a day without fail, and there are all sorts of assessments. In short, I can tell you, no one in the whole company has such an easy job as us."

Wen Cheng strongly agreed.

This was the life he had always envied: the salary wasn't high, but he wasn't short of money like before.

He never wanted to experience the days of losing hair from pulling all-nighters as a programmer again. Sometimes, if the institute needed money for something, he had to go out on weekends to do manual labor or deliver food, and then come back at night to take on freelance work.

In short, those were days Wen Cheng never wanted to go back to.

This kind of life is wonderful, but you have to be careful that your family doesn't find out. If they do, Wen Cheng shuddered.

After chewing the cucumber, Wen Cheng precisely tossed the cucumber stem into the trash can.

"But Chengcheng, this security guard job is so boring. Why would a young person like you think of doing this? Although you don't have a high level of education and there will be fewer job opportunities, your uncle thinks you are more attractive than some of the young male celebrities on TV. Why don't you consider becoming a star?"

Low education level?

Wen Cheng remained silent, ultimately not telling the older man that he was actually a soon-to-be computer science graduate from a top-tier university (like a 985 university). If he wasn't mistaken, he'd be looked down upon as a lazy bum.

As for being a star, well, would you be performing for everyone while they eat?

Wen Cheng thought for a moment,

Everyone has their own ambitions.

......

Wen Cheng's shift ends promptly at 5:30 PM, and the night shift is handled by the company's professional security team.

Wen Cheng immediately suspected that this job was a charity position for the whole society, and that he had shamelessly taken it!

To avoid running into her family, Wen Cheng sneaked back to the break room, changed out of her security guard uniform, and pretended to come out of the building lobby. At that moment, her WeChat message, which she had been keeping quiet all along, came through.

When Wen Cheng opened the link, he saw that it was Wen Yunyi's henchman whom he had added yesterday.

Although the two people were quite enthusiastic towards her, Wen Cheng remained wary of them and avoided seeing them whenever possible.

Yao Xingwei: Wen Cheng, are you off work yet? Come out and have some fun!

He Haobo: My brother just opened a bar, and the bartender was poached from abroad. Why don't you come and give it a try?

Both of them sent me messages at the same time.

Wen Cheng looked at the invitations with a cold expression; in short, he had absolutely no interest in them.

Wen Cheng: I'm sorry, my mother is strict and doesn't allow me to drink alcohol.

Yao Xingwei & He Haobo: ...... (Bullshit! You were the one who caused trouble at the party last time!)

Wen Cheng took it as a rejection, but then he saw a message posted in the "Loving Family" group chat.

Wenyin: Honey, are you off work yet? Come back and tell Mom how work went today!

Wen Yongwang: Chengcheng hasn't left yet, right? Daddy's coming to pick you up.

This is outrageous! Wen Cheng's brain raced. "Mom and Dad, I'm going out with my friends today. I won't be home for dinner!"

Upon seeing the message, the couple suddenly felt a pang of sadness. Why was it so difficult to go home and see their son, who had become better?

"Which friend did Chengcheng go out with?"

Wen Cheng: He Haobo and Yao Xingwei, the two who came to our house last time, they were so incredibly hospitable, I felt bad not going!

Wen Yin remained silent. If it were an untrustworthy friend, she would definitely send the children home. But these two children weren't bad at all. She and the other mother usually got along well and were both nice people. At least there was no sense of scheming or backstabbing between them. She felt relieved, but also very sad.

After getting off work, Wen Qi glanced at the messages in the group chat, paused for a moment, and then turned off his phone. As long as he wasn't scammed, that was fine.

Wen Cheng: Actually, drinking fruit juice is quite good too.

A phenomenal face-changing master?

In the end, Wen Cheng drove his electric four-wheeler to the agreed location.

Yao Xingwei and He Haobo, who were waiting for him at the door, looked at the emerald green car with complicated expressions.

Wen Cheng's taste seems to have reached a new level of rusticity.

Wen Cheng got out of the car and glanced at the rows of luxury cars parked in front of the bar, then lowered her head shyly.

Yao Xingwei walked over casually and put his arm around Wen Cheng's shoulder, asking with mixed feelings, "Does your family abuse you?"

Wen Cheng blinked, quickly becoming alert. This person was trying to sow discord within his family!

"Our whole family is very harmonious, don't talk nonsense!" Wen Cheng was just like a rabbit with its fur standing on end.

"Hey, don't speculate. Maybe Wen Cheng just likes this car model? Don't be fooled by the color, uh, it's a bit bright, but the features are definitely top-notch!"

Seeing He Haobo trying so hard to defend himself, Wen Cheng couldn't help but tell the truth: "It's not as good as you think. It's just over 20,000 yuan. It's my aunt's car. I drove it to work today because it's convenient."

......

"You, one of the heirs of the Wen family, open a business like this? Aren't you afraid your employees will laugh at you?" Yao Xingwei has always been outspoken.

Wen Cheng looked at them with suspicion. "I never said at the company that I'm my dad's child. My dad said I should learn from my older brother and start from the bottom. Driving a luxury car doesn't look like something a grassroots worker should do."

Yao Xingwei and He Haobo exchanged a glance and sighed. This kid is too foolish.

"Drink whatever you like today, it's on me!"

Wen Cheng was unhappy; he wasn't poor! "No need, I have money,"

This time, Yao Xingwei and He Haobo turned around at the same time and advised in a serious tone: "No, you don't have money. You should use your salary of a few thousand yuan to reimburse the electricity bill for your car."

Wen Cheng's dog eyes drooped slightly.

I was discriminated against...

"Sigh, children grow up and leave home," Wen Yin said listlessly, looking at the table full of food, but there were only three people eating.

“Children need to have their own social interactions,” Wen Yongwang advised, but Wen Qi caught the fleeting look of loneliness in his eyes.

Wen Qi didn't say anything, but in his heart he started to complain, "You guys didn't think this way a couple of days ago."

“Even Yi Yi went out with her friends today. Who’s the oldest in our family?” Wen Yin’s melancholy gaze fell on Wen Qi.

Wen Qi paused, a sense of foreboding washing over him.

"I'm full," Wen Qi said, trying to get up.

"Stop! Ah Qi, don't you want to listen to your aunt anymore?" Wen Yin was about to make a scene.

Wen Yongwang cast a sympathetic glance at Wen Qi and said that he was unable to help.

Wen Qi pursed his lips and sat down.

"There are so many men and women in the company, Qiqi, and you didn't fancy a single one? What about the dance party last time...?"

On this one matter, however, Wen Qi was unable to persuade Ms. Wen.

Next time, bring both younger brothers back. He's having a hard time, so we can't let those two boys benefit from it.

The Wen family's food chain is so clearly visible!

Chapter 10 Provocation

Wen Cheng followed He Haobo, while Yao Xingwei went straight to the bar.

The bar had just opened and the pre-opening publicity was excellent, attracting a large number of customers. In addition, since it was a bar opened by the eldest son of the He family, many people from the circle came to support it. However, as soon as Wen Cheng walked in, everyone's eyes seemed to be glancing at her, their eyes filled with untold stories.

It was only then that He Haobo remembered that almost half of the people in this bar knew Wen Cheng, this "celebrity".

To make Wen Cheng feel comfortable, He Haobo suggested, "Wen Cheng, how about we book a booth, or go to a private room on the second floor?"

"Why? I want to go there." Wen Cheng pointed to the bar not far away.

He had been busy with work and had never been to a place like this before. Wen Cheng was lazy, but since he was already here, he didn't want to stay in a secluded private room.

Seeing that Wen Cheng didn't seem uncomfortable at all, the two gave up and sat down at the bar with her.

Perhaps because they saw the two of them, the acquaintances in the bar didn't come over to cause trouble so quickly.

Wen Cheng first very subtly ordered a juice, then watched intently as the bartender skillfully mixed cocktails. The various colored drinks were expertly blended together; the sheer speed and precision of the movements were dazzling.

Wen Cheng took a sip of juice, sighed for a long time, and felt that what she had in her hand was rather ordinary.

Yao Xingwei had already prepared his drink, which was a beautiful orange color. As soon as he picked up his glass, he felt a burning gaze from the side.

"...Isn't it said that every family has a strict mother?"
