Jiangshan Dream - Chapter 38
That day, Jin Yi and the other two women came to report on the situation again. The situation was similar. Lin Feng had stopped saying a word and came in to find them all lying in bed.
"Your Highness, it seems that Master Lin is angry with you."
Bei Chentian thought for a moment: "This spy matter has been going on for many days, causing widespread panic. If there is no more evidence in a few days, let's release her."
Jin Zi asked curiously, "Isn't that Mr. An the number one extraordinary person? If he were here, he might know something." This little girl seemed unusually excited when talking about An, whether she was interested in his appearance or something else.
“Unfortunately, he is not someone I can summon at will.” Bei Chentian paused. “What I find even stranger is that if Lin Feng really did collude with the enemy, how did she manage to notify Lei Ran? The carrier pigeons she kept showed no abnormalities; could they have flown away?”
Jin Yi smiled and said, "Your Highness, please don't overlook anything in your investigation." After thinking for a moment, she added, "I'm afraid Master Lin won't buy it. Your Highness's suspicion is indeed a bit excessive."
Bei Chentian recalled Lin Feng's angry expression and smiled wryly: "It seems that I have no choice but to apologize."
The three women were surprised that Bei Chentian would apologize! They never expected Lin Feng to hold such a high position in his heart, and Bei Chentian had never suspected her. Jin Yi's eyes flashed with a dim light as she stepped back.
Two days later, as dusk settled after sunset, the warship was unusually quiet. Bei Chentian had said that if no evidence could be found, he would apologize to Lin Feng in person the next day and release her. This was the last night, and there weren't as many people investigating. After searching for dozens of days without finding any evidence, what was there left to look for?
Bei Chentian was on his way to the banquet following Shen Mufeng's ascension to the throne when the guards were at a moment of relaxation.
On the merchant ship they brought, the large ship that Bei Chentian and his group were on, several soldiers were quietly dozing off. Two soldiers at the bow were already sleepy. As the night deepened, they put down their weapons, got off the ship, and drank some wine to ward off the cold.
Suddenly, a petite black figure darted over and slashed at the necks of the two men, knocking them both unconscious.
The masked man in black was skilled in martial arts; his move was clean, swift, and decisive, causing no disturbance whatsoever.
She carried a bulging bundle on her back, the contents of which were unknown. Tall and slender, she was clearly a woman. She helped the two of them into a sleeping position to avoid arousing suspicion, and then quietly peered into the boat.
The guards were neither too strict nor too lax. The masked man in black seemed to know the structure of the ship and the distribution of guards. He cleverly slipped inside, his beautiful eyes scanning the surroundings, searching for his target.
She leaped over the deck and onto the observation deck. It was much easier to see things from a high place. After looking around for a while, she spotted her destination—a place where a flock of white doves were roosting.
The carrier pigeons were not quiet; even though it was night, they were still flapping their wings and flying around. The masked man in black tore off the cloth bag behind him and took out a snow-white carrier pigeon.
These carrier pigeons are the same breed as the ones on the ship, so even if they were mixed in, no one would notice. However, ever since the spy incident, Bei Chentian has been very strict in investigating the clues around him, and he has been keeping a close eye on the number of carrier pigeons. Only the masked man in black had to take matters into his own hands and come to switch them.
She lifted herself slightly, leaped lightly to the pigeon's nest, placed the white pigeon inside, threw two flaming guns into the air, shot down another pigeon, wrapped it in a cloth, and carried it on her back.
There was still no movement. Mission accomplished, the masked man in black seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, lightly leaped down, and was about to leave.
But then, suddenly, a cold voice rang out behind her like a ghost.
Where are you going?
The masked woman in black was immediately shocked, her eyes filled with disbelief. She slowly turned around and saw another woman in black with a cold expression and a sneer standing not far behind her.
Her beauty was breathtaking! Under the moonlight, she looked like a fairy from a dream, but at this moment, she gave the masked man in black a completely different feeling. He felt dizzy and almost fell over.
"Impossible...you...how could you be here! You were just in the room a moment ago."
She scoffed and smiled faintly, "Really? I don't remember being in the room."
“You have clearly lost trust in His Highness over the past ten days or so, how could you…” Suddenly, she seemed to realize something, her eyes widening in astonishment, fear, and resentment, as if she had never felt such surprise before!
Another male voice, which wasn't exactly pleasant to listen to, casually wandered in.
"How do you know whether Feng has lost trust in me? And how do you know that it wasn't all an act?" A stunningly handsome man slowly emerged from the dark corner. The bright moonlight made his handsome face even more striking. Who else could it be but Bei Chentian? He smiled and lazily yawned, "I've been waiting for you for days. You've finally come out. It wasn't for nothing that Feng and I set this trap for you."
The cold-blooded woman in black glared at him and said, "You need to give me a raise. You've ruined my reputation for so long, and you also need to pay me for emotional distress."
Upon hearing this, Bei Chentian's face fell, and he feigned pain: "Miss, with such a big appetite, how can I possibly feed you?"
Both men were in high spirits. Bei Chentian was naturally pleased to have caught the spy who had been by his side for many years, and Lin Feng was also in a good mood because of his trust in him. They started joking around, but the masked man in black opposite them didn't think so.
She felt frustrated, anxious, jealous, and angry!
"It's all your fault, you vixen!" she roared, drawing her short sword and thrusting it at Lin Feng!
Lin Feng sneered. The Heavenly Desolate Blade had appeared out of nowhere. He caught her sword and then kicked her in the stomach, sending her flying back.
"Princess Chechi, you don't need to be in such a hurry to die. You should think about your country first."
The cold voice in the night air sent a chill down the spine of the masked woman in black. She stared at them in disbelief. When had Lin Feng's martial arts become so advanced? She had seen her skills before but hadn't taken them seriously. It turned out this woman had been hiding her true abilities all along! Hiding her strength, becoming a hidden sword, specializing in striking unexpectedly!
Suddenly, she shivered, as if she had just remembered something, and cried out in surprise.
"You...you are Darkness?"
"That's right, that's me." Lin Feng smiled coldly, as if everything was within her expectations.
The masked woman in black was completely bewildered; she couldn't fathom what was going on. Lin Feng was clearly under house arrest by Bei Chentian. Even if it was a trap, she still didn't understand the methods used, let alone how the other party had discovered her identity. If they really did, who did it? She had clearly been paying attention to the movements of everyone around Bei Chentian; those couldn't be fake! And why didn't Bei Chentian arrest her before he knew her identity?
There were just too many questions for her to even begin asking!
The main force had arrived, and torches illuminated the surroundings. She knew she had been defeated, utterly defeated!
The people around were all confused. They had come on His Highness's orders. When they saw Lin Feng standing coldly next to Bei Chentian, they were all puzzled. Wasn't this woman a spy? Why did she seem so close to His Highness? Had His Highness been taken hostage?
But upon seeing the masked man in black on the ground, they immediately understood the situation; the so-called spy was probably the person on the ground.
Jinlan and Jinzi followed behind Ouyang Xiao. When they saw Lin Feng rip off the black-clad, masked woman's face, incredulous voices immediately rang out:
"Sister Jinyi, it's you!"
Princess Forty
Who would have thought that this woman who had followed Bei Chentian for over ten years was actually the "spy" everyone was talking about? Jinlan and Jinzi were even more agitated. The three sisters had rarely been apart for the past ten years, and they were like sisters. They simply couldn't believe it.
