The Charm of a Powerful Woman Spreads Across the World - Chapter 93

Chapter 93

After bidding a reluctant farewell to Hanshan, Rufeng took one last look at Fengxian Academy before finally spurring his horse on.

Along the way, everyone kept their heads down and hurried on their way. Ru Feng would occasionally talk to Zui Yue, and the thing they talked about most was...

"Zuiyue, are you alright?" Since Zuiyue didn't practice martial arts, Rufeng always subconsciously cared whether she could handle it.

Zuiyue nodded: "Don't worry, senior brother, I'm fine. I just don't know martial arts. Actually, I'm quite strong."

So, they sped up the process again.

From Xiangzhou City to the frontier, it would take five days at full speed, but if they needed to rest halfway, it would take six days or more.

After a long and arduous journey, the four of them finally arrived at Heizhou City, the closest city to the frontier, five days later. It would take another day and a half to get from there to the military camp.

Ru Feng and Zui Yue were both very excited because they could see Nanshan and Zuizhu, which they hadn't seen for a long time, here.

They had originally agreed to meet in Xiangzhou City, but something happened to them halfway there, so they had to meet in Heizhou City instead.

Chapter Eighty-Six: Reunion

The four of them quickly found an inn to stay in. Rong Yiying insisted on having a lower-class room, while Ru Feng and the other two each asked for an upper-class room.

After putting down her luggage, Ru Feng went next door and knocked on the door: "Zui Yue, it's me."

After receiving permission, Ru Feng pushed open the door and went in. He saw Zui Yue tidying up her things, so he asked, "Zui Yue, is your thigh alright?"

Zuiyue blushed. Although she knew her senior brother was a woman, for the past ten years she had always thought of him as a man. And now he was asking her such a question...

"What are you daydreaming about? Is this question so hard to answer?" Ru Feng asked, puzzled.

Zuiyue quickly replied, "It's nothing. I had already bandaged my thighs beforehand, so there was no chafing." As she spoke, she poured Rufeng a cup of cool tea.

Ru Feng took the drink with both hands, took a sip, walked to the window, looked at the street below, and said, "There are so many young people here."

Zuiyue smiled gently: "Senior brother, the waiter said that there have been so many people here these past few days. Many young people from all over the country have come to join the army. If we hadn't been lucky, we wouldn't have been able to find a place to stay."

Ru Feng nodded. Indeed, everyone was quite lucky; someone had just checked out, and then Ru Feng and the others arrived.

"Senior brother, when do you think Nanshan and Zuizhu will arrive?" Zuiyue asked after seeing Rufeng deep in thought.

Ru Feng withdrew her gaze and sighed, "Don't worry, it'll be quick. I'm going back to my room to rest for a while, then I'll take a shower and have dinner."

Zuiyue nodded and saw Rufeng out of the room.

After asking the waiter to bring the hot water, Ru Feng circled the bucket of hot water a few times. The waiter, attracted by Ru Feng's actions, did not immediately leave but instead asked, "Sir, what can I do for you?"

Ru Feng took a closer look and saw that it was a wooden barrel made of several planks, and the inside of the barrel was very smooth. Ru Feng stretched out a slender finger and touched the top edge, then looked again. Fortunately, there were no stains.

The waiter stared wide-eyed at Ru Feng angrily. "Hmph," he thought, "at first I thought this young master looked like a figure from a painting, so I took a liking to him and even rushed to serve him. I never expected him to be so calculating. You should know that Tongfu Inn, where I am, is the cleanest inn in the whole of Heizhou City. No guest has ever complained about it."

Ru Feng smiled slightly and looked at the waiter: "Waiter, who did you think was the last person to bathe in this tub? Was it a man or a woman? Was it a healthy person or someone with a disease? Could they have something like athlete's foot or psoriasis? Do you think I might catch some kind of disease if I just step in like this?"

Ru Feng spoke in a very serious tone, but the waiter stared at Ru Feng with his mouth agape: "Sir...sir, our bath tubs are always cleaned very thoroughly."

"But what if something happens to me?" Ru Feng blinked innocently.

The waiter stammered, "Sir...sir, how about...I...I'll get you a cleaner bucket?" His usually quick-witted mind was now blank, and a blush rose on his slightly dark face.

Ru Feng smiled and said, "Alright, I know you've worked hard. Just be more careful next time. Okay, you can go now. Thank you." As she spoke, she took out some loose silver and handed it to the waiter.

The waiter hurriedly waved his hand and said, "No need, no need." Then he dashed out as if something was chasing him.

Ru Feng paused for a moment, then chuckled, feeling much better. Just as she was about to close the door to take a shower, she noticed Yang Wei from the next stall to her left walking over. He said curiously, "Ru Feng, why is he in such a hurry? He almost bumped into me!"

Ru Feng smiled slightly: "It's nothing, I was just joking with him. Okay, I'm going to take a shower. You go down and find Xiao Ying first, and I'll go down with my junior sister later."

Yang Wei laughed and said, "You guys are so slow. I've already finished washing. Sigh, these past few days of traveling have really worn me out."

Ru Feng smiled and said, "When we join the army, we'll have plenty of time to work hard."

Yang Wei nodded and said excitedly, "That's true, but the thought of being a soldier makes me so excited. I can go into battle and rout those enemies."

Ru Feng gave him a push and said, "Alright, alright, you'd better hurry up and go downstairs, or the water will get cold."

After Yang Wei left, Ru Feng muttered, "Why isn't this kid a descendant of the Yuchi family? Otherwise, I wouldn't be here."

Ru Feng shook his head, closed the doors and windows, turned on the lights, and then, after taking off his clothes, was still pondering why Yang Wei liked fighting so much. Was fighting really that fun? Look at how excited he was.

Ru Feng recalled the history of the Zi Luo Kingdom over several hundred years. It seemed to be during the late Sui and Tang Dynasties, when the world was in chaos. Many people died, and the world was plunged into darkness. Etiquette and other social norms almost completely collapsed, and cannibalism was common. However, four powerful armies emerged and, after years of warfare, established the four countries we know today.

However, Ru Feng discovered that much of the historical material from before the founding of the People's Republic of China was lost, and if any existed, it was only a few lines, offering a glimpse into the past. Therefore, the history that people here learn now begins six hundred years ago.

Furthermore, since the founding of the nation, the four countries have rarely been involved in wars together; usually, it's just two countries fighting. The most frequent skirmishes are along the border, with only a few small battles taking place each year.

However, the four countries were roughly equal in strength, so none of them gained much advantage.

Therefore, Ru Feng didn't understand Yang Wei's thoughts at all. What was so exciting about fighting a war? However, Ru Feng had a feeling that if a war really broke out this time, it would probably be very complicated.

Because this time there is a nationwide conscription, anyone who is not the only male in the family and is over fifteen years old must go to war, unless your family is very rich or powerful, then you can be spared.

Ru Feng pouted resentfully. Her family was actually quite well-off, but they were a military family. Sigh. Thinking about it this way, she understood Yang Wei even less.

"It seems his patriotism is too intense," Ru Feng sighed.

After thinking for a while, Ru Feng realized that he was still sitting in the bathtub and hadn't moved at all, so he quickly started pouring water on himself.

Looking at her naked body, Ru Feng touched her chest and then other parts of her body. The smooth skin felt wonderful, but she sighed inwardly: If this continues, will I still be able to be a woman?

For some reason, Ru Feng had never considered this question before, and sometimes she even saw herself as a man. But now, she would occasionally remember that she was a girl, and that would remind her of Mu Wenchen.
