Military Advisor and Princess - Chapter 38

Chapter 38

Ao Jun released his grip on Yue Ying's arm and stared blankly at his other hand. What had he just done? He had actually hit Ying'er.

Ao Jun quickly looked up and saw Yue Ying covering her slapped face, looking at him in disbelief. Ao Jun hurriedly said, "Ying'er, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." As he spoke, he reached out and touched Yue Ying's face.

"Don't touch me." Coming to her senses, Yueying slapped away Aojun's outstretched hand and stubbornly said, tears streaming down her face.

"Ying'er..." Ao Jun wanted to say something, but was interrupted by Yue Ying's murmur.

"You hit me! You actually hit me for that woman! I hate you..." Yueying suddenly shouted and rushed out of the tent, covering her face.

"Ying'er..." Ao Jun shouted her name, but Yue Ying rushed out without turning her head. Ao Jun worriedly wanted to run out after her.

But as soon as he moved, he heard Yu'er's groans behind him, forcing him to turn around and walk toward Yu'er, who was struggling to get up from the ground.

As soon as Ao Jun turned around, Yu'er cried out "Ouch!" and fell to the ground.

"Yu'er." Ao Jun quickly hugged her. She's such a good actress, and she even put on such a melodramatic scene.

"Brother Mo Jun, I'm fine." She said this, but leaned weakly against Ao Jun. Seeing Ao Jun's worried look, she said very considerately, "Is Miss Mo alright? It was my fault just now. You shouldn't have hit her. She must be very sad now. You should go and find her!"

"Nonsense, if it weren't for you, I would have run out with you long ago. Do you need to tell me?" On the surface, she frowned and said, "Yu'er, you're so good. Ying'er is too naughty. She needs to be taught a lesson. However, I shouldn't have hit her either. I wonder if that silly girl is in any danger. I'd better go find her!" With that, she made a move to go out.

Yu'er hadn't expected her words to have the opposite effect. She hurriedly cried out and fell back into Ao Jun's arms, her face pale and weak as if she were about to die.

"Yu'er, how are you? Oh well, Ying'er is all grown up, she'll be fine. Come on, let me help you lie down first," Ao Jun said helplessly.

Having achieved the desired effect, Yu'er stopped talking and leaned obediently against Ao Jun, letting him help her to the bed.

"Yu'er, are you really alright? No, I'll go get the army doctor." Ao Jun said, starting to walk out, but her movements slowed down a little. She was certain she would be able to pull Xin out of the way.

Sure enough, Yu'er said considerately, "Brother Mo Jun, you don't need to. I'm fine. I just need to rest for a bit."

"No, you should rest. Go and fetch the army doctor." Ao Jun's tone was firm this time. Since they were acting, they had to act convincingly.

Watching Ao Jun leave, Yu'er, abandoning her gentle and considerate demeanor, abruptly sat up, her beautiful face contorted with rage, a cold smile spreading across her lips: "The world's number one strategist is nothing but a stinking man! Pretending to be righteous, a hypocrite! Hmph, no matter how brilliant he is, he's still completely manipulated by me. Mo Jun, I'll make you the target of everyone's scorn! All men are the same, or perhaps only he in the world truly deserves to be called a genuine, upright gentleman."

"Medical doctor, be gentle." Ao Jun frowned and said coldly to the poor old medical doctor, as if she was extremely distressed.

The old army doctor, unfortunately dragged in again, could only nod and agree, inwardly groaning: This is already the lightest treatment; the wound needs to be bandaged tightly! Besides, under your immense pressure, I'm already lucky I didn't faint; what more do you expect from an old man like me? So what if she's a little pretty? Humph, does she need to be this tense? It would be better if she died. Since this woman arrived, the camp has been in chaos. The strategist has stopped managing affairs, and even the adorable little Yueying always has a long face. He heard about what happened earlier; it must be this woman causing trouble. Little Yueying wouldn't be so wicked! And the strategist, how could he lay a hand on such a cute little sister? She's a femme fatale, humph…

Dissatisfied, he naturally hit harder. Yu'er knew that this old man didn't like her, so she thought, "Hmph, then don't blame me."

"Ouch... Brother Mo Jun, it hurts..." Yu'er pretended to cry out in pain with tears streaming down her face, and even secretly gave the old military doctor a provocative look, which made the old military doctor so angry that he glared at her.

"Old man, if you hurt her again, I'll pluck all your beard off," Ao Jun threatened coldly. She had clearly seen that look in his eyes just now, but now she still had to do what she had to do.

"Yes, yes..." The old military doctor repeatedly agreed, cold sweat pouring down his face. This woman was too hateful; she didn't even spare his old man.

Finally, the bandaging was finished, and the old military doctor breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Strategist, it's all done. Is there anything else you need?" This time, the old military doctor had learned his lesson and it was better to ask first. If he were to do what you did last time, he wouldn't be scared enough even if he had ten lives.

"That's all, you can leave now!" Ao Jun said coldly. The old military doctor must be scared half to death. After all, Chinese tradition still requires respect for the elderly.

"Then I'll head out first." As if granted a pardon, the old army doctor said as he rushed out.

Only Ao Jun and Yu'er remained in the tent. Ao Jun sat down on the edge of the bed, gently stroking Yu'er's bandaged head, and softly asked, "Does it still hurt?"

Just as Ao Jun was about to say something, a furious shout came from outside, seemingly from Zhao Zhiyang.

Just as he was about to go out to see what was happening, Zhao Zhiyang had already entered the tent and arrived in front of Ao Jun. Before Ao Jun could speak, he shouted at Yu'er, who was lying on the bed, "You damned woman, how long are you going to pretend to be dead? If you like dying so much, then I, Old Zhao, will grant your wish." With that, he walked past Ao Jun and punched her.

Yu'er looked frightened, watching in terror as Zhao Zhiyang's fist was about to hit her face. But just as the fist was about to touch Yu'er, it was forcefully stopped.

Zhao Zhiyang turned his head and glared at the person who dared to stop him, only to find that the woman was originally a weak strategist. Unexpectedly, she was able to catch his punch so easily.

Ao Jun's magnetic black eyes shot out a sharp, cold light as he said in a cold voice, "Zhao Zhiyang, what do you want to do? Trying to play the hero in front of me?" His tone was light, but it sent chills down one's spine.

Zhao Zhiyang felt a chill run down his spine, but he still glared at Ao Jun and said, "Strategist, I, Zhao, have always respected you. I never imagined that you would become like this because of this vixen, and treat Miss Mo like that."

The thought of Miss Mo sitting silently in his tent, face buried in her hands, filled him with an intense, heart-wrenching pain, as if his heart had been ripped apart. No matter how he questioned her, she remained silent. Later, after hearing from the soldiers, he learned that she had been beaten by the strategist, Murong Yu, a seductive and alluring woman who had been causing chaos in the camp these past few days. Enraged, he rushed over, determined to teach this woman a lesson and show her that this was not a place for her to run wild. He also wanted to sober up the strategist and prevent him from being swayed by beauty. But before he could even discipline her, the strategist treated him with such cold indifference.

"What do you mean 'become like this'? I've always been like this. And what do you mean by 'vixen'? Don't let me hear that kind of talk a second time, or don't blame me for being impolite." Ao Jun warned in a protective stance, casually shaking off Zhao Zhiyang's fist. The strong Zhao Zhiyang was momentarily unsteady on his feet, stumbling a few steps to the side. He stared at Ao Jun in disbelief, unsure whether he couldn't believe she would say such things to him for a woman he had only known for a few days, or whether he couldn't believe she could shake him off so easily.

"Mo Jun, fine, I, Old Zhao, will remember what you said today." Zhao Zhiyang said through gritted teeth, as if in despair, and turned to walk out.

"General Zhao, wait..." A weak voice came from the bed.

Zhao Zhiyang stopped in his tracks, puzzled, and turned to glare at Murong Yu, who was pretending to sit up. If looks could kill, Yu'er would have been dead countless times over.

"Brother Mo Jun, please don't be angry with General Zhao anymore. It's all Yu'er's fault for hurting your relationship." Yu'er called out to Zhao Zhiyang, but spoke softly to Ao Jun.

Ao Jun helped Yu'er up and said gently, "How is this any of Yu'er's business?" But in his heart he thought: What trick are you playing now? No matter what tricks you have up your sleeve, I, Ao Jun, will play along. Let's see who plays whom in the end.

"Yu'er thinks that General Zhao dislikes Yu'er so much because of what happened last time." Yu'er said while observing Ao Jun's reaction.

Ao Jun readily obliged, asking, "Last time? What happened last time? How is it related to General Zhao?"

Zhao Zhiyang was also puzzled: Last time? What last time? I've been busy with things in the camp these past few days and haven't seen her at all. I've only heard about her. When did this last time happen?

Yu'er, her head slightly lowered in fear, spoke softly but loudly enough for both of them to hear: "Last time, General Zhao came looking for Brother Mo Jun, but you weren't there. I told him to wait, but he said he wanted to stay and wait, and asked me to pour him tea. But when I handed him the tea, he suddenly grabbed my hand and said some strange things. I was startled, and the teacup fell to the ground, spilling tea on General Zhao. I was terrified, but he said it was alright, which put my mind at ease. But then he continued..." He told General Zhao that he would let Yu'er drink with him and then not hold it against him, but Yu'er refused, saying that Brother Mo Jun wouldn't agree. General Zhao said, "As long as I don't tell, you won't know." But Yu'er still felt this wouldn't work and refused to agree, so General Zhao angrily turned and left. Yu'er... Yu'er thought everything was over, but unexpectedly, General Zhao came again today and argued with Brother Mo Jun. Like telling a story, Yu'er recounted the "last time" incident clearly in one breath, making it obvious that it was because Zhao Zhiyang's advances towards her had backfired, leaving her humiliated and angry.

"Is that so, General Zhao?" As Yu'er spoke, Ao Jun's face grew increasingly ashen, and now it was completely black. His tone was like that of a soul-reaping messenger from hell.

Zhao Zhiyang was already stunned when Yu'er began recounting her "great achievements" from "last time." This woman's ability to fabricate stories was simply too amazing! She could make them up effortlessly and without any flaws. It seemed that this woman was not so simple. What was her purpose in coming to the military camp? Zhao Zhiyang couldn't help but fall into deep thought, and that's when he heard Ao Jun's question.

“If General Zhao doesn’t say anything, then that means he’s admitting it.” Ao Jun said, her eyes blazing with anger, as she walked towards Zhao Zhiyang. Yu’er, however, watched with amusement as Ao Jun continued to approach Zhao Zhiyang.

As Ao Jun approached, Zhao Zhiyang finally came to his senses and had just opened his mouth to say, "Military Advisor Mo, don't listen to..." Before he could finish speaking, a powerful fist came flying at his face. He couldn't react in time and was hit squarely, falling to the ground with blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.

Ao Jun walked over, grabbed Zhao Zhiyang by the collar, and looked down at him, saying, "Zhao Zhiyang, I'm warning you, this is my tent. You are not allowed to enter here again without my permission. Get out, I don't want to see you again." With that, she shoved him forward, and Zhao Zhiyang crashed to the ground with a muffled groan.
