A chilling wind blows, a ghostly aura pervades, spider lilies bloom in the underworld, and I sit alone - Chapter 5
This happened that night when we were playing badminton at the Normal University.
AH suddenly needed to use the restroom while playing, so he went to the teaching building by himself.
The teaching building was deserted in the quiet of the night. As soon as AH entered the restroom, he heard someone shouting, "I can't open it..."
"I can't open it..." The voice came from the innermost compartment. AH walked over and asked, "Who is it? Who's in there?"
"Is the door locked?" The voice continued, "It won't open..." AH reached out and pulled on the door, which creaked open. As AH pulled the door open, he said, "What? This isn't..." There was no one inside! Startled, AH screamed and scrambled back to the court.
The crowd began to murmur amongst themselves, and TYF exclaimed, "It must be that legendary toilet ghost—RCZ!"
"I heard he had a heart attack in the school toilet, the lock was broken, he couldn't open the door, and he died inside!" "That's all nonsense!" FZY retorted. "There are no ghosts in this world! I don't believe it!" The group decided to go check it out together, so they went to the toilet. Inside, they found nothing. FZY said smugly, "I told you there wasn't! It must be AH's tinnitus!"
Seeing nothing, everyone started blaming AH for giving false information and went back to the court to play. TYF grabbed FZY and said, "Wait here for me for a bit, I need to go to the bathroom. Don't leave!" FZY had no choice but to stand at the door and wait.
After TYF went inside, FZY suddenly wanted to play a trick on him, so he called out in a hoarse voice, "I can't open it... I can't open it..." TYF immediately stumbled out, pulling up his pants and yelling. FZY pointed at TYF and laughed loudly, "Hahahaha..."
"He ran out without even putting his pants on properly! Hahaha... Did he wet his pants?!" TYF said angrily, "You brat, I'll get my revenge!" Then he went to another toilet in a huff. After laughing his fill, FZY suddenly needed to go to the toilet too.
He went inside. As soon as he entered, he heard a pitiful cry coming from the innermost cubicle: "Can't open it..." "Can't open it..." FZY mocked, "TYF! You trying to scare me back?! Did you climb in through the window?!"
"You're quite the addict, aren't you!" he said, yanking open the door. Inside, RCZ, his face contorted in agony, glared at him with bloodshot eyes bigger than teacups, yelling, "I can't open it!" FZY screamed in terror, "Waaaaaaahhhhhh!!!" and collapsed to the ground. RCZ glared at him, gave a few cold laughs, and then vanished in a puff of smoke.
When everyone rushed over after hearing the noise, they only saw FZY sitting blankly on the ground, his pants soaked... P.S.: Encyclopedia of Monsters - Toilet Ghosts Here are a few strange legends about toilets!
1. The White Hand: After relieving myself in the toilet, I felt something touching my buttocks. Feeling strange, I turned around and saw a pale, bluish hand emerging from the toilet bowl. I was so frightened that I tried to run away, but the door wouldn't open. So I was pulled into the toilet bowl.
II. The Red Outer Vest: In a certain school restroom, a voice often echoed: "Put on the red outer vest," followed by constant trembling, and finally a loud shout: "Put it on, then put it on!" before beheading the person. The clothes were stained bright red with blood, just like wearing a red outer vest.
Third, "Give me toilet paper": Late at night at school, a voice calls "Give me toilet paper!" from the toilet. When someone rushes to give it to the person with toilet paper, they open the door to find a person covered in blood saying, "I don't want toilet paper! I want your life!" Then, they grab your hair and drag you into the toilet bowl... How about that? You've probably heard this somewhere before, right? There are many other famous legends about toilets. Because of the water used, ghosts easily appear there. And in the past, toilets were cesspools, and many children died after falling into them. Here's one last piece of advice: When you get up to use the toilet at night, never let your face be reflected in the water in the toilet bowl. Why? Because that's how you'll look when you die. If you're old, it might not matter, but if you look like that now, then your lifespan...

There's an elevator in the white building (also called the testing building) at China University of Geosciences that nobody dares to use. Teachers and students would rather walk than step into the elevator, and the reason is as follows:
The Jewelry Department's classes were mainly held in the White Building. That day, Chen Fu, a student in the Jewelry Department, was late again. After waiting for ages for the elevator, he had to climb the stairs to the fourth floor. The jewelry appraisal professor, surnamed Hao, was usually strict and stern, and the students were all afraid of him. When Chen Fu stood breathlessly in front of Professor Hao, he was filled with anxiety: "Oh no, I'm definitely going to get a good scolding this time, and I might even fail the exam." Unexpectedly, the professor looked him up and down, a strange look of surprise on his face. After a slight pause, he told Chen Fu to go back to his seat. Chen Fu, like a fish that had escaped the net, was both surprised and delighted, and rushed back to his seat. The students, who were expecting the professor's wrath, whispered among themselves: "What's wrong with the professor?"
When class ended, Chen Fu was kept behind by the teacher. His heart, which had been pounding in his chest, jumped into his throat again: it turned out the teacher was worried about him being late for class and was only coming to settle scores with him after class. Chen Fu had no choice but to follow the teacher into the office with his head down. Unexpectedly, the teacher immediately asked, "Have you experienced anything strange lately?" Chen Fu was completely bewildered: "No." The teacher's expression turned serious, and he frowned, saying, "Just now I saw a hint of evil between your brows, and your forehead was dark. If you haven't experienced anything unusual, I'm afraid you're in for some trouble." Chen Fu chuckled: "What's gotten into you today, teacher?" The teacher sighed and said, "I've been secretly studying physiognomy for almost twenty years. I know you don't believe it, but you must carry this with you." As he spoke, he handed Chen Fu a triangular yellow talisman. Although Chen Fu didn't believe it, he didn't dare to disobey the teacher's kindness, so he accepted it and took his leave.
A few days passed, and Chen Fu gradually forgot about the incident. One evening, he went to the White Building for evening self-study. Entering the elevator, he felt a chill in the cold air and sensed something was wrong. The red floor numbers on the elevator changed: 1…2…3…4. "We've arrived," Chen Fu heard the familiar "ding," but the elevator doors didn't open and continued to ascend rapidly. 56789… Chen Fu was shocked: "The test building only has six floors!" He didn't know how much time had passed when suddenly the elevator stopped, but only paused briefly before starting to plummet again. Chen Fu fell with the elevator like a free fall, his face turning deathly pale. "It's over, I'm going to die." Just as he was in despair, the elevator stopped again, the red number illuminated at "4," but the doors still didn't open. Cold sweat broke out on Chen Fu's forehead. He composed himself. "The elevator's broken." "Is anyone there? The elevator's broken." He pounded on the elevator doors. The elevator lights suddenly went out, the machine stopped, and a deathly silence descended. In the darkness, Chen Fu could only hear his own pounding heart and heavy breathing. Then, heavy, slow footsteps approached the elevator from outside, thumping closer and closer…
"Someone's coming!" Chen Fu's heart leaped with joy. He was about to knock on the door and shout when a sudden thought flashed through his mind: Whose footsteps would be so heavy? And so slow? And there was even a hint of ghostly energy about them? Could there really be—a ghost?! Chen Fu was terrified by his own thought. He heard the footsteps stop at the door. In the cramped space, in the pitch-black darkness, it was even more chilling. A cold wind blew in through the crack in the elevator door, and Chen Fu felt a chill run through his body, but he dared not make a sound, not even move. He held his breath, not daring to even exhale, but his heart pounded like a drum, his whole body trembled, and unavoidably, cold sweat slid down his forehead and fell to the ground, appearing even more clearly in the silent environment.
With a loud crash, the elevator doors were slammed shut by something enormous, making a terrifying sound. Chen Fu knew he couldn't hide it any longer, so he mustered his courage and asked, "Who is it?" The crashing outside suddenly stopped, and his mind went blank; he didn't know what to do. At that moment, a sliver of green light shone through the dark crack in the door. The green light grew brighter and brighter, slowly seeping into the elevator through the crack, gradually forming a green human head. The face was clear, but shrouded in a ghastly green, it looked eerie and terrifying. It seemed to be struggling to squeeze in, its neck squeezed flat by the crack, still stretching forward.
Suddenly, the green head spoke: "Help me, help me..." Its voice was mournful and desolate. As it spoke, it stretched its head towards Chen Fu, reaching all the way to his chest, its neck becoming a thin line behind it. It continued its mournful cry, "Help me, help me..." Chen Fu was terrified and couldn't even scream. Trembling, he tried to back away, but his legs gave way, and he collapsed against the wall, his hands instinctively waving to shield his face. The green head laughed eerily, revealing a set of white teeth as it approached Chen Fu, its cries growing increasingly shrill: "Help me, help me..." Just as the green head was about to pounce on him, in that critical moment, a flash of inspiration struck Chen Fu. He instinctively pulled out the life-saving talisman that Teacher Hao had given him and threw it with all his might at the head. With a scream and a loud bang, Chen Fu knew nothing more.
After a dazed and confused state, Chen Fu slowly regained consciousness and found the elevator doors open. He tried to get out, but perhaps due to extreme shock, his legs wouldn't obey him. He could only manage to crawl out of the elevator with all his might. Relieved, he then fainted again. The next day, Chen Fu told his teacher, Ms. Hao, about the incident, and Ms. Hao took him to the school to report it. The school, of course, didn't believe him and dismissed it as nonsense, so they had to drop the matter. From then on, Chen Fu never dared to take an elevator, no matter where he went.
However, not long after, Guan Wen, the nephew of a high-ranking school official, was found dead inexplicably in the elevator of the White Building. Students spread rumors that Guan Wen's death was extremely gruesome, likely caused by fright. His eyes were wide open and bulging, his face was greenish-white, and his mouth was agape, clearly indicating he had seen something terrifying. His hands were raised in front of his head, his arms stiff and held in a position as if trying to shield himself from something. When they tried to lift him, they discovered his head was limp and hanging limply on his chest; his neck had been broken, with only a thin layer of skin connecting his head to prevent it from falling off.
The school then took Chen Fu's words seriously and sent maintenance staff to repair the elevator. However, the story had spread throughout the school, and no one dared to go. Eventually, the school simply sealed off the elevator.
After that, some people claimed to have seen the elevator open automatically late at night, rising and falling like a ghost, its doors wide open and filled with a ghastly green hue, but without a single person in sight...

I'm going to tell you a story about the third canteen at our school. Although it's been many years since we graduated, whenever my classmates and I get together and think about it, we still feel a lingering fear.
This happened in the summer. Beijing wasn't as hot then as it is now, and most female students who cared about their appearance were already wearing skirts. There was a very pretty girl in my class named Liu Jing. She was also from Beijing and came from a wealthy family, so she dressed very fashionably. She always wore a pair of sparkly earrings that her father had brought her from France. They were very pretty.
Liu Jing is a very hardworking student, usually ranking among the top three in her class. She's also the English class representative, and the day we discovered she was missing happened to be during English class. She didn't come.
We ate lunch at the third canteen, which served Kung Pao Chicken. It tasted pretty good; I don't know why, but I felt the chicken was better than usual today. Maybe it's because the canteen just changed chefs.
How do I know the cafeteria just changed chefs? Because I work in student affairs at the school's logistics department. The old chef got old and went back to his hometown. So the school found a new head chef. I heard this chef used to be from Peking University Medical School.
We ate dinner at the third canteen again that night. I ordered twice-cooked pork. The pork had both lean and fatty parts. It was cooked just right, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It was very chewy. I ate six ounces of rice that day. Haha, I can't eat that much now no matter what.
Liu Jing still didn't come to class the next day. We boys asked her about it. We thought she was sick, but when we asked, we found out that Liu Jing hadn't gone back to the dorm to sleep for two nights. We called her family, but they didn't know either; they thought she was still at school.
For lunch, I had Kung Pao Chicken again. The chicken pieces were small and finely chopped. The meat quality was good. The chef's skills were truly excellent; I plan to recommend this dish to my classmates when I get back.
In the afternoon, I went with the logistics staff to conduct a surprise hygiene inspection of the third canteen. We saw the new cook. He was a very honest-looking person, standing there quietly, holding a meat cleaver and constantly chopping a piece of meat on the cutting board. The meat was a vibrant red, and it looked rather long, like a leg of lamb. I knew that the school didn't allow the sale of lamb legs because they were more expensive.
In the instant I turned around, I saw the cook seem to pull a long leg out of a bucket on the floor. I didn't see it clearly, but I had a feeling that he was holding a human leg.
Because what I saw were five toes and a pair of torn socks on the feet.
