Margaret's Secret - Chapter 5
end
Tong Zhengdong works for an e-commerce company. His company is located on the ninth floor of an office building called "Huaneng Building" on the most bustling street in the city.
He mainly engages in spot trading of corn and metals, which should be considered a relatively popular industry.
There was nothing much to do after the market closed at 3 p.m., so he decided to go home.
The sky outside remained overcast. For some reason, the weather had been like this lately; it looked like it would rain again tonight. He arrived home, took out his keys, and opened the door. After entering,
Suddenly, he noticed a card on the floor, apparently slipped under the door. He picked it up and saw only one line of letters: MAGELITE. What did that mean? And who slipped it in? He was completely baffled. He tried to break the word down: MA—GE—LI—TE. It meant MAGELITE.
Margaret. What does that even mean? Ugh, I wonder which bastard came up with this ridiculous thing.
He then threw the card into the cardboard box. He sat down on the sofa and suddenly thought of calling Lin Hai, as he hadn't received a call from Lin Hai for several days.
This guy hasn't called me for so many days, which isn't like him at all. Oh well, I'll just call him and ask him what's going on.
So he took out his phone and called Lin Hai, but all he heard was that the phone was switched off.
"Damn it, what is this kid doing? Why is he even turned off his phone?" Tong Zhengdong muttered to himself.
He had no choice but to give up. Suddenly, he wanted to call someone else—someone he had been longing for these past few days.
Thinking of this, a smile appeared on his face again. What a beautiful girl she was! Her figure was absolutely perfect, her skin as white as snow, and especially her captivating eyes, as deep and blue as the sea—truly unforgettable!
The girl Tong Zhengdong was thinking about was someone he had met by chance a few days ago. He was immediately captivated by her; her beauty was breathtaking. Later, through conversation, he learned that she was actually of mixed race and held French citizenship.
He met the girl a few more times after that. Surprisingly, the girl seemed to have a good impression of him, which made Tong Zhengdong extremely happy. They chatted happily and eventually exchanged phone numbers.
At that moment, Tong Zhengdong wanted to call the girl because they hadn't been in contact for two days. Now, he felt lost if he didn't see her for a day, and he knew that he had fallen deeply in love with her.
By then, it had gotten dark outside, and raindrops were hitting the window without our noticing; it seemed another heavy rain was about to begin.
Tong Zhengdong picked up his phone and dialed the number she had given him. His heart suddenly raced as he eagerly awaited the voice he had been longing to hear on the other end of the line.
The rain was now pouring down, accompanied by booming thunder and lightning. Tong Zhengdong, however, didn't see a black cat perched on his window! The cat's eyes gleamed with an eerie green light, and it stared intently at Tong Zhengdong inside the house with those terrifying eyes!
—Beep—Beep. The call connected, but he hadn't answered yet. He waited anxiously and excitedly.
Suddenly, someone answered the phone. Tong Zhengdong could no longer hide his excitement. Before the other person could speak, he had already spoken first.
He uttered a sentence in a trembling voice: "Hello, are you Ms. Ni Siqi?"
...
Suddenly, a bolt of lightning streaked across the night sky, followed by a deafening clap of thunder—a thunderous boom—and darkness completely enveloped everything.
Outside the window, a torrential downpour was underway.
