Beggar Travels the World - Chapter 46
"Where is Miss Yin?"
"Second Young Master, you have such a bad memory. Didn't I tell you, she just left the manor?"
"...I'd better go see my older brother first."
As Baili Hanyi stepped into Baili Qingyi's bedroom, he saw Baili Qingyi slowly open her tired eyelids and smile with relief.

Since he awoke from his months-long coma, Baili Qingyi had keenly noticed that the Baili Manor was different from before.
He couldn't quite put his finger on what was different, only that everyone in the manor seemed to be deliberately avoiding him. Even his three brothers would avoid his gaze when they met and spoke to him. Xuan He, the renowned physician, refused to leave the manor, insisting on staying until he was fully recovered. Every day, he was forced to drink large amounts of dark, thick soup, and whenever he asked, "What kind of medicine is this?" Xuan He would glare and bristle.
"I'll eat you to death!"
He knew all too well the devastating impact the explosion had had on his body. Although he had escaped the epicenter, he had been struck by blasted rocks, fallen to the bottom of a cliff, and buried in a pile of rubble. All his meridians were destroyed, and all his bones were broken. It was a miracle that he had survived. So when Baili Hanyi told him that as long as he patiently recuperated and persisted in rehabilitation, even his martial arts skills could be restored to normal, he began to believe that there was something everyone was hiding from him.
Sitting in a wheelchair specially made by Physician Xuan, Baili Qingyi walked along the flower path in the mansion.
"Young Master! Young Master!" Uncle Jiao, carrying a thick blanket, caught up from behind, panting.
Baili Qingyi sighed helplessly and stopped to wait for the old man to catch up.
"Uncle Jiao, what are you up to now?" Baili Hanyi knew he couldn't resist Uncle Jiao's nagging, so he assigned the old man to keep an eye on him. Poor Baili Qingyi, who used to be able to leave many martial arts masters behind with a flick of his robes, now even Uncle Jiao was sticking to him like a piece of chewing gum.
"Where is the young master going? You should at least cover yourself with a blanket, or you'll catch a cold. How am I supposed to explain this to Doctor Xuan?" Uncle Jiao grumbled as he spread the blanket over Baili Qingyi's legs.
"Don't worry, Physician Xuan will never ask you for an explanation." Physician Xuan's gaze seemed to say that saving him was a waste of medicinal herbs.
"Uncle Jiao, I want to go for a walk in the street. I've been staying at home for so long and I'm getting bored."
"Oh? The eldest young master wants to leave the manor? Let me go and inform the second young master..."
Baili Qingyi frowned at Uncle Jiao, a rare occurrence for her: "When do I need Hanyi's approval to do anything?"
"This... Hey, that's not what I meant. I meant... the young master's injury healed with great difficulty, it took so much manpower and resources, and cartloads of precious medicinal herbs were brought into the manor. How could you... how could you not appreciate it?" It was truly pitiful for old Uncle Jiao, having to run around so much at his age. But what could he do? He was the only one in the entire Baili manor who could rely on his age to keep an eye on the young master.
As he spoke, Uncle Jiao plopped down and began to tearfully recount the events: "You know how important you are to the Baili Manor and the martial arts world. This time you were injured, how many people spent so much effort to pull you back from the brink of death? The Second Young Master shouldered the burden of the Baili Manor alone, the Third Young Master searched everywhere for medicine for you, almost running his legs off, even the Fourth Young Master stayed at home but was busy taking care of you and lost a lot of weight. Can't you just listen to me and focus on recovering?"
"It's...it was my fault, Uncle Jiao, please don't cry anymore." Baili Qingyi rubbed her forehead, her head aching. "Then, Uncle Jiao, could you push me back to my room?"
Upon hearing this, Uncle Jiao jumped up with astonishing leaping power and said with a happy smile, "Okay, okay."
"Uncle Jiao, you said you used up a lot of expensive medicinal herbs for my illness?"
"That's right, putting everything else aside, just those three medicinal ingredients alone..." Uncle Jiao suddenly stopped talking.
"Three medicinal ingredients?"
"Well... a ginseng, deer antler, and mink fur coat. Sigh, let's hurry back, it's windy outside." Uncle Jiao casually changed the subject.
"Uncle Jiao, ginseng, deer antler, and sable fur coats are the three treasures of Northeast China," Baili Qingyi said with a smile.
"Huh? Really?"

When Baili Hanyi learned that Baili Qingyi had summoned him, Baili Tieyi, Baili Ziyi, and Xuan Hegu to his room to discuss matters, he knew he couldn't hide it anymore. In any case, he hadn't really intended to keep it from Baili Qingyi. To be honest, how could Baili Qingyi not know the financial situation of the Baili family? It was all a facade; in reality, the Baili family was dirt poor. Yet, for the past few months, Baili Qingyi had been consuming an old ginseng root almost daily, and all the medicinal herbs and ingredients she took were incredibly valuable. The Baili family hadn't gone bankrupt yet; how could Baili Qingyi not be suspicious?
Upon entering the room, Baili Hanyi saw the other three standing to the side with somber expressions.
"Hanyi, what exactly are you hiding from me?" Baili Qingyi didn't mince words and went straight to the point.
Baili Hanyi knew that when Baili Qingyi asked such a question, it meant that he had neither the mood nor the tolerance to wait for an answer that was evasive.
So he sighed and obediently confessed everything he knew.
Before Baili Qingyi regained consciousness, everyone in the Baili household was clearly threatened and forbidden from revealing a single word of this to Baili Qingyi. If it weren't for Baili Qingyi's lingering influence, he would almost have thought that the person in charge of the Baili household had been replaced by a woman.
"Actually, after the explosion that day, everyone thought you had perished at the bottom of the cliff. Even we almost gave up hope. It was Miss Yin who, despite her serious injuries, forced everyone to search the bottom of the cliff for three days and three nights, and that's how we managed to pull you out alive from the pile of rubble."
"The Divine Physician Xuan said that you need to obtain three medicinal ingredients to give you a glimmer of hope: the Ruyi Grass of the Old Man of Tianshan, the Ten-Thousand-Year Purple Ginseng of the Mongolian King, and a martial arts master whose skill is comparable to yours to inject half of his internal energy into your body at the right time. Not to mention that the first two are priceless treasures, the third is an impossible task. There are no more than five people in this world whose martial arts skills can match yours. Who would be willing to hand over the martial arts they have painstakingly practiced for many years?"
"But Miss Yin never gave up hope. First, she used precious snow lotus seeds to prolong your life, and then, despite being newly recovered, she knelt in the snow and ice at the foot of Tianshan Mountain for three days and three nights, finally moving the eccentric old man of Tianshan Mountain, who gave her a Ruyi Grass."
"It is said that the Mongolian king's ancient purple ginseng has been presented to the imperial palace. Miss Yin spent a lot of money to hunt down the master thief Zhi Xiaoyao all over the world, and lured him into the palace to steal the ginseng. Finally, she obtained the second medicinal ingredient."
"The origin of the third medicinal ingredient is even more miraculous. Miss Yin somehow managed to dig out the legendary Yu Zong Dao Mo, who had supposedly renounced the world, and through some unknown means, she managed to get him to agree to use half of his internal energy to heal your injuries. Now she has all three medicinal ingredients. She then rushed to Jiangnan to personally witness Physician Xuan use these three medicinal ingredients to regulate your vital energy and reconnect your meridians."
"Furthermore, the medicinal herbs and ingredients you used after you regained consciousness were also transported from the Yin family in the capital, cartload after cartload. Otherwise, with the meager resources of our Baili family, we would have been completely depleted long ago."
"Xiao Wu'er's skills and decisiveness are truly remarkable. No wonder she threatened everyone in our manor not to tell you what she did for you, and we all obediently kept quiet. Even now, I still feel a chill when I think of her stern gaze." Baili Tieyi interjected, chuckling and shrinking his neck.
He had been wondering how his older brother would react to all this—whether he would be moved to tears, furious at the deception, or depressed because his male pride had been hurt. But no matter what, he shouldn't be like this now, so nonchalant, as if he already knew everything and was just confirming it.
"Brother, are you alright?" Baili Tieyi asked cautiously.
Baili Qingyi raised her eyebrows and laughed out loud, her chest heaving.
"Good, that's perfect. You can leave now."
"Huh?" That's it?
Even Baili Ziyi couldn't help but ask, "Brother, after hearing all this, is there really nothing you particularly want to do?" He had never had a good impression of that woman, but since she was the woman his brother had secretly loved for six years and had done so much for him...
Well, he had to admit, he admired that woman and was very grateful to her...
“Big brother, you’re not like me. I’ll probably be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life, but you’ll be able to move around normally soon. You…you’ve had a crush on her for six years. If this continues, the three of us brothers will start laughing at you.”
Baili Qingyi gave him a deep look. "I understand."
"You understand? You understand and yet..." Baili Tieyi exclaimed. He had long disliked his elder brother, and now even an idiot could see that Xiao Wu'er was devoted to him.
"Enough, you two." Baili Hanyi interrupted him, looking at Baili Qingyi with a smile. "I trust that my elder brother knows what he's doing."
Baili Qingyi nodded and returned his smile with brotherly affection.
"Second brother, thank you for your hard work," Baili Qingyi said.
Second brother?
Baili Hanyi's heart began to pound.
Three days later, Baili Qingyi, who still needed a wheelchair to get in and out, disappeared from the heavily guarded Baili Mansion.

Yin Wuxiao couldn't help but get up, his fingertips touching the door panel, but he quickly withdrew them as if he had been burned.
"What...what are you doing here?"
"Xiao'er, I want to see you." The person outside the door spoke softly and directly.
"Go away, I don't want to see you." She suppressed her racing heartbeat.
"Why don't you want to see me?" The person outside the door patiently played a question-and-answer game with her.
"It's too late."
Baili Qingyi stood outside the door, startled. She was truly panicked, even resorting to such a pretext.
"Xiao'er, I just wanted to see you, to see if you were doing well."
"I'm fine, you don't need to look anymore. I... I'm going to sleep. Young Master in blue, you should leave quickly." Her tone became hurried.
Baili Qingyi remained silent for a moment.
"Xiao'er, are you angry with me?"
"Why would I be angry with you?" Yin Wuxiao forced a smile. His hand was clenched tightly in front of his chest. Didn't this person realize how much their conversation through the door resembled a young couple arguing?
"But you don't want to see me." There was a hint of resentment in her voice.
"..." After going around in circles for so long, we've come full circle. Yin Wuxiao was exasperated, and roared with a sharp, forceful aura:
"Do I have to give a reason if I don't want to see someone?"
It was quiet outside the door, and there was no response for a long time.
He's gone?
Yin Wuxiao's heart skipped a beat. On one hand, she felt much more at ease because of his departure, but on the other hand, she repeatedly blamed herself for being too heartless.
Just when she was certain that he had given up on leaving, a soft sigh came from outside the door.
"Xiao'er, don't you really want to see me? Don't you want to know if I'm alright, if I've fully recovered?"
“You…” Yin Wuxiao’s heart tightened at the weakness revealed in his words. After hesitating for a moment, she finally couldn’t help but ask.
"Are you fully recovered?"
She should be better now, Doctor Xuan assured her, patting his chest.
But... how long has it been since he woke up? How could he have appeared in the capital so quickly? And why wasn't Physician Xuan by his side?
"Why don't you open the door and see for yourself?" Baili Qingyi coaxed, as if treating a vulnerable child.
Yin Wuxiao closed her eyes. Yes, how could she be at ease, how could she... truly erase him from her heart, if she didn't see him with her own eyes? Just one look, just one look...
She flung the door open with a whoosh. She couldn't resist after all…
However, after just one glance, she froze, and tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.
"You...your legs..." she said, her voice trembling as she pointed to his wheelchair. How could this be? Doctor Xuan had promised, Doctor Xuan had clearly said there would be no problem, that he could recover completely, so why is this happening now?
Baili Qingyi, however, was smiling. Her tears proved something, and that pleased him. He turned his wheelchair with both hands and entered the room with an air of grandeur.
Yin Wuxiao had long forgotten to stop him; she followed him helplessly, only to see him turn around and stare at her seriously:
"Xiao'er, I am already blessed to have the life to watch over you here." He said this from the bottom of his heart, but that great blessing did not come from heaven, but from her.
“But…” Yin Wuxiao slowly knelt down beside him, her trembling hands wanting to touch his legs, but not knowing where to begin. She couldn’t accept him in a wheelchair! He was such a person with broad arms, such a towering figure, such a person whom everyone in the martial arts world wanted to rely on, yet now he had to rely on a wheelchair to support his own world.
"Xiao'er, I've come all this way and I'm exhausted. Can I stay here for the night?" Baili Qingyi remained as gentle and composed as ever, but her gaze carefully drifted to the side.
Yin Wuxiao hesitated for a moment. She wanted to tell him that she originally planned to have no further involvement with him, and that she planned to pretend that she had never known him. But looking at him like this, she couldn't bring herself to say it, and instead, a new wave of tears welled up in her eyes.
