'Bang!' Three sounds of falling to the ground came from outside. Xiao Qing's mouth twitched, her shoulder was slightly crooked, and Xiao Wu's hand was pricked by a needle. Her sharp eyes shot towards me.
The chill in the air vanished instantly, more miraculously than magic. Leng Qing and the others breathed a sigh of relief, thinking to themselves, 'Good heavens, why would she have to play a joke like this?'
“Master, we’ve arrived,” Leng Feng said, composing himself.
"get off"
"Wow, that's great!" I immediately jumped out of the car, and my little boy, who was trying to help me, was quite startled.
"Xue'er's" authoritative voice rang out behind me. I stopped, stuck out my tongue, and turned around, saying, "Okay, okay, I won't make a fuss anymore."
"Please come in, sir," the waiter said nimbly, standing in front of us to guide us.
Jue grabbed my waist and led me inside.
"Wow, this inn is amazing!" I opened the window of the private room and saw the small bridges, flowing water, and houses outside. My heart was filled with excitement.
"Master," an old voice rang out behind me. I turned around and saw an old man kneeling in front of Jue.
"Who is he?" I asked, sitting next to Jue, puzzled.
Subordinates always speak like this, without a single wasted word.
Well, if that's the case, this inn is absolutely amazing! Wow, it's so fantastic!
The innkeeper looked at the woman beside his master in surprise. Why would his master be so kind to a woman? But when he saw his master glance at him, he immediately looked away. His heart was in his throat, so tight he could hardly breathe, and his whole body felt weak. He dared not let his master see anything amiss, because his master did not keep useless people around. As her subordinate, he could not presume to know what was going on with that woman.
"Why is he still kneeling?" I squatted down, smiling at the old man in front of me. "Hello, Grandpa, my name is Zixue."
The old man looked at me in astonishment, then said in a flustered manner, "Miss, you are too kind. This old servant dares not accept such a thing. Please just call this old servant Uncle Chen."
"Get down!" Jue's voice rang out again. After a while, Uncle Chen disappeared. It seems that Jue is surrounded by experts. Jue is not just a simple businessman.
Chapter 57
The bustling street was filled with shouts and calls; there were vendors selling jewelry here and snacks there, and people were coming and going.
"Hurry up, Xiao Wu!"
People couldn't help but stop their hurried steps and look curiously towards the source of the sound. There, a light yellow pleated skirt fluttered in the wind, long eyelashes cast shadows in the sunlight, bright eyes, thin lips with a cherry red tinge, and cheeks with a light blush. She looked like a forest sprite that had accidentally wandered out of the forest, radiating joy and warmth.
"Miss, slow down!" When asked why Xiao Wu, who had martial arts skills, couldn't catch up with Zi Xue, it was because she was holding the spoils that Zi Xue had collected.
"Hurry up!" I haven't felt this good in a long time. I haven't gone shopping since I arrived here, so of course I have to enjoy myself and make sure this trip to ancient times wasn't in vain.
"Miss, be careful!" Xiao Wu gasped for breath and grabbed me, scolding me.
"Okay, Xiao Wu," she replied somewhat casually.
"Ah, where are my things?" I screamed, staring blankly at Xiaowu's hands, which had been full of things, now completely empty.
"I had my master's guards take it back," Xiao Wu said, looking at the somewhat neurotic woman in front of her with a slightly exasperated expression.
A noisy crowd formed a circle, whispering amongst themselves.
"Xiao Wu, look, it's so lively over there!" Without Xiao Wu's permission, I excitedly pulled her into the crowd, and taking advantage of my small size, we finally squeezed to the front.
"These past few days, martial arts practitioners have been flocking to Lingyang, all for the treasures of Luozhuang. Luozhuang, one of the five most famous martial arts villages, is holding a treasure appreciation event..." The storyteller spoke with great enthusiasm, occasionally gesturing with his hands.
I couldn't hear what they said after that, but I do know that when I heard the word "treasure," my eyes lit up, and all I could think about was taking the treasure to sell. I was already planning to do it.
"Miss, Miss," Xiao Wu said, seeing her mistress's expression. She knew that her mistress was thinking about something else again, so she reminded her.
"Ah, Xiao Wu, let's go back." Ignoring Xiao Wu's surprise, I pulled her back to the inn. I need time to process the information I've received. But why does this Luo Village seem familiar?
"Wow, wow!" After entering the inn, I wandered around aimlessly like a headless fly.
As I entered the room, Leng Mei appeared in front of me.
"What?" I patted my chest, afraid that my little heart might be scared out of its wits.
"The master has something to attend to and wants Miss to stay obediently at the inn tonight. The master will be back soon."
I was about to refuse, but then a good idea popped into my head, so I said, "Okay, I'll wait for Jue to come back."
Leng Mei looked at Zi Xue, who had agreed so readily, with suspicion. She was unsure if Zi Xue would insist on going back and if she wanted to knock her unconscious. If Zi Xue heard this, she might subject Leng Mei to further torment.
However, I was clearly so engrossed in my baby's happiness that I didn't notice Leng Mei's expression.
At night, the moon hung high in the sky, shining brightly on the bustling streets, which were then decorated with lanterns and colorful decorations, creating a joyful scene.
After I finished eating early, I told them that I felt a little dizzy and needed to go to my room to sleep, and I also sent Xiao Wu out.
I walked carefully, afraid of being heard by those outside the door. I quietly opened another window, and below was a bustling street.
I crept down the stairs. Luckily, my room was on the second floor, and luckily I had learned a little martial arts before, so getting down there wasn't a problem for me.
After landing, I looked up at the window of the inn, feeling secretly pleased, and then ran out onto the street to ask people for directions.
That's right, I have a grand ambition tonight: to sneak into Luozhuang to see the so-called treasure and catch a glimpse of it.
With my lovely and kind face, and my humble attitude of asking questions, I finally found the location of Luozhuang.
But I was troubled and puzzled. Looking at the wall in front of me, which seemed so tall compared to me, I felt a little desolate.
How am I supposed to get in here? I went through so much trouble to escape Xiao Wu and the others' eyes, and I used up so much breath to find this place. And that treasure is just a wall away from me. I'm not having it!
Helpless, I paced back and forth by the wall. Then, out of the corner of my eye, guess what I saw? Hahaha, heavens smiled upon me! I saw a dog hole. It was barely noticeable unless you looked closely, because it was covered by some straw. (Author speechless: Are you sure this is Luo Village? How could they be so poor that they can't even patch up a dog hole? Zi Xue says: It's Luo Village, that's for sure. If it weren't for that dog hole, how would you continue writing?)
I quickly scrambled through the dog hole and found myself in a beautiful courtyard.
A quaint little bridge spans a river, which shimmers with light at night, teeming with fish, and flowers are planted along its banks.
I didn't have time to admire the scene; I quickly ran to a corner to hide and stared at the passing patrolling guards.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a maid walk by. I ran behind her, took the small knife that Jue had given me, and held it to the maid's neck, saying, "Don't move, or I'll kill you."
"Have mercy!" He felt a gust of wind behind him, and a cool knife was pressed against his neck.
"Shut up!" I snapped at the little girl who was crying from fright.
Sure enough, when I called out to her, the girl bit her lower lip to stop herself from making a sound. She looked ahead with a pitiful expression, not daring to look back at me.
"Where are the treasures at the treasure appreciation event?" he whispered in her ear.
"This servant doesn't know!" she cried, her voice trembling with tears.
"Speak, or I'll kill you." The knife pressed even closer to the maid's neck.
This time, the girl was truly frightened. I could feel her whole body trembling. She stammered, "Just...keep...always, then...turn...left...there are people guarding there."
I struck her hard, and she fainted. I immediately stripped her clothes off and put them on myself, then headed in the direction she had indicated.
Seeing two guards warily watching the surroundings, I was overjoyed. I'd finally found you, my darling! Your sister has come to see you. (The author felt a chill, perhaps because of the cold weather.)
Just as I was about to lift my foot, someone shouted, "Help! Catch the assassin! Help!"
The sound coming from afar made the two guards see my outstretched foot.
"Who's there? Stop right there!"
"Bullshit! Anyone who stops will be caught!" Seeing the situation was bad, I turned and ran, followed by the two guards.
But the more I ran, the more confused I became. I couldn't find the right path, and the number of guards behind me gradually increased.
What followed was a chase; I ran for my life, and they chased after me relentlessly, constantly shouting, "Stop! Stop!"
After wiping away the sweat, I stared speechlessly at the group of people in front of me. It seemed I was doomed!
Chapter Fifty-Eight
I stopped abruptly, looking at the roadblock in front of me with annoyance. What kind of mess is this?!
"You little thief, where do you think you're going?" a burly boy with a pig-like face and big ears yelled at me.
Wow, I'm stunned. The world is truly full of wonders. How can such a 'impressive'-looking guy speak like a woman?
"Little thief!" the effeminate voice called out again.
It was a real visual shock, I couldn't stand it. If I could only hear the sound, it wouldn't be so bad, but seeing a big fat guy pointing at me with his pinky finger and screaming made me want to throw up.
"I'm not a petty thief," I glared at him disdainfully, then patted my back; it was a little sore from not running in a while.
"Arrest her!" The effeminate man, seeing my disdainful look, blushed with anger and said.
Startled by what was in front of him, he forgot about the crowd chasing him. By the time he realized what was happening, his hands were pinned behind his back.
I know, this time they're all really dead!
'Bang!' They dragged me into a large hall, threw me to the ground, and gave me a close encounter with the earth.
"Can't you guys be a little more gentle with me?" I yelled at them, rubbing my arm that they had scratched red.
"Sir, the thief has been caught," the effeminate man said obsequiously, glaring at me.
At first glance, he was a man nearing 40, with narrow, almond-shaped eyes. Time had etched a few wrinkles at the corners of his eyes. He had a straight nose and thin lips, and overall he looked dignified and serious. Although you could tell his age, you could still tell that he must have been a handsome man in his youth.
"Young lady, what brings you to Luo's manor?" He spoke softly, his tone questioning and wary.
Although I was arrested, there's a saying, "You can lose your head, but you can't ruin your image." I was once a notorious woman, and my demeanor is still quite good. (Author's note: I'm about to throw up. Zi Xue's words: Go away, stay somewhere else. I'm a civilized person, I won't argue with you.)
I lightly brushed the dirt off the hem of my skirt from where I had fallen, and then stood up in what I considered an elegant posture.
"I'm just here to browse around your place," I said dismissively.
"How dare you!" the little eunuch suddenly yelled in a shrill voice, startling me.
"Hey, you damn transvestite, what are you yelling about?" I shouted at the little eunuch with my hands on my hips.
"You...you." Although I don't know what 'ladyboy' means, it's definitely not a nice thing to say.
"What, you dead eunuch? Don't you even know what you look like? How dare you yell at your great-aunt?" I snorted and took a step forward in his direction.
"I'm not a eunuch!" The fat man's face turned from red to green, then from green to purple, a truly fascinating sight.
"I know, but you have a really nice face," I said sarcastically, picking at my ear.
"That's..." That fatso actually answered me, and somehow pulled out a mirror and started looking at himself.
