Bo Qinghuan - Chapter 7

Chapter 7

Bi Feixian surprisingly nodded and said, "Alright."

"Is that really okay? The student has gone back to their room!"

Dai Ke was overjoyed and was about to leave when she said, "Finish this game of chess, and you can sleep as long as you want."

Dai Kejian turned around, stared at the chessboard for a while, and then looked up and said, "Can we leave after we finish?"

"Um."

"Regardless of victory or defeat?"

"Um."

"Alright!" He perked up immediately and quickly sat back down. Bi Feixian, usually so clever, had made a foolish mistake. Finishing the game and then moving on—wasn't that far too...simple? He could just make a few random moves and lose to her, right?

Dai Kejian happily picked up a black piece to play against her, but as expected, he was utterly defeated, losing half his pieces in just a few moves. He glanced at her, but saw that Bi Feixian remained expressionless with her eyes lowered. Could it be that she was deliberately letting him win?

Overjoyed at this thought, he placed his last piece and jumped up, exclaiming, "Ah, I lost!"

Bi Feixian gazed at him quietly and said, "Yes, you lost."

"Teacher, you have to keep your word. You said I could go back to sleep if I lost. So, I'll take my leave now." Afraid she would change her mind, Dai Kejian leaped away quickly, running faster than a rabbit.

Bi Feixian turned her gaze from the doorway to the chessboard—one, two, three, four, five. In just five moves, she had turned what was originally an evenly matched game into a one-sided affair; that guy was clearly quite skilled at chess.

Dai Kejian, your true colors are showing, aren't they?

She stared at the crystal chessboard, slowly curving her lips into a cold smile. As she placed a white piece, the black pieces were completely devoured, leaving nothing behind.

Chapter Five

The BMW sedan paraded through the streets, attracting the attention of the entire city.

"I heard that Princess Luo Yi of Anluo City is sitting in this carriage?"

"Is it Luo Yi, who is known as the most beautiful woman in the twelve cities of Yinwei?"

"Oh my god, I want to see! I want to see..."

The roadside was packed with people, all craning their necks and standing on tiptoe to get a good look at the stunning beauty, but the carriage doors and windows were tightly shut, and not a single shadow could be seen. However, a young woman in a martial outfit rode beside the carriage on a white horse; her arched eyebrows and spirited demeanor were unlike the usual delicate grace of a young lady.

After the carriage left Tonglin Avenue, it turned left directly, and a hundred paces away was the Dai residence. Two exquisitely carved white jade lions stood in front of the gate, displaying power and wealth to the fullest extent.

The accompanying elite riders reined in their horses, and the coachman yanked open the carriage door. Inside, a white fox fur curtain hung, and the young woman in a tight-fitting outfit dismounted and bowed, saying, "Miss, we've arrived."

The gates of the Dai residence were already open, and two groups of people quickly came out to greet them. Old Master Lu walked at the front, strictly following etiquette to welcome the distinguished guests.

A hand peeked out from behind the carriage curtain and lazily draped over the shoulder of the girl in the fitted outfit. That single gesture made everyone present hold their breath. So delicate and weak, so pitifully helpless, it made one want to rush forward and lean on her.

Three heads popped out from the far side of the wall; they were the three young servants, enjoying themselves.

Xiao He stared, eyes wide. "Ah, the most beautiful woman in the Twelve Cities of Yinwei! Truly extraordinary!"

"It's not necessarily that beautiful," Xiao Le said to Luo Yi, who was gracefully stepping out of the car. "If our cousin wore that outfit, she might not lose to her."

Luo Yi was dressed in a brocade robe woven from the feathers of a hundred birds, and wore an eight-treasure pearl crown, which made her as radiant as the morning glow and as beautiful as spring flowers. Regardless of her facial features, her attire alone was enough to captivate people.

Old Master Lu cupped his hands and said, "Miss, you must be tired from your long journey. We have built a separate residence for you in our mansion. Please come and take a look."

Luo Yi smiled, "Thank you for leading the way, Elder Lu."

"You flatter me, please." The group moved forward slowly. When the three servants saw that there was nothing left to see, they looked at each other, sighed in unison, then climbed over the wall and hurried back to the study.

In the study, Dai Kejian was miserably practicing calligraphy under Bi Feixian's supervision. Upon seeing them, he stopped writing and exclaimed happily, "How is it? How is it? Did you see it?"

Just as the servants were about to answer, Bi Feixian glared at them and said in a deep voice, "Continue."

"But teacher..."

"Continue." Bi Feixian turned a page of the book in her hand and said calmly, "Old Master Lu will be entertaining you outside. It's not your turn to make an appearance yet."

Helpless, Dai Kejian had no choice but to continue writing.

The four servants stood with their heads bowed to one side, and for a moment the study was quiet. The silence only made the noise and music outside seem even more loud.

As Dai Ke's mind wandered, his already crooked handwriting became even more distorted.

Suddenly, a willow twig appeared and draped over the Xuan paper. Looking up, Dai Kejian saw Bi Fei's slender, unadorned face, and his heart skipped a beat again—

Although he had always known that his teacher was a beauty, perhaps because of her special status, he had never harbored any romantic feelings for her, unlike other beautiful women who would make him drool. However, just now, when he looked up and saw her face, his chest felt as if it had been struck by something, and he suddenly felt an indescribable, subtle sensation.

He had been spoiled and willful since childhood, and even his father was helpless against him. But as soon as Bi Feixian came, he was repeatedly controlled by her. Upon closer examination, the reason was not so much that he was afraid of her, but rather that he couldn't bear to refuse her.

What does it mean if a man is soft-hearted towards a woman? As Dai Kejian pondered this, his eyes became unfocused.

Seeing their young master start to daydream again, the four servants inwardly cursed their bad luck. Sure enough, Bi Feixian tapped the table with a willow branch and said sternly, "Practicing calligraphy requires a calm mind. Concentrate!"

Dai Kejian's reaction was to look at her and let out a long sigh.

Bi Feixian frowned. "What are you looking at?"

Dai Kejian didn't answer, but sighed again, looking very distressed and unwilling.

"Dai Kejian!" Bi Feixian was about to reprimand him when Dai Kejian suddenly threw down his pen, stood up, and said, "I'm not writing anymore!" Then he walked out.

The four servants, who were eating, drinking, and having fun, were all stunned at the same time—although the young master was mischievous, this was the first time he had openly disobeyed his teacher like this, and judging from his appearance, it seemed that he had suffered some great blow, and he also seemed to be in a bit of a sullen mood. What exactly happened?

Bi Feixian stared at the wide-open door, looking astonished. When she looked back at the four servants, they quickly lowered their heads, pretending that they hadn't seen anything.

In the end, Xiaochi was worried about the young master's safety and said, "I'll go and check on him."

He chased after him and finally found Dai Kejian behind the bushes by the lake.

Dai Kejian lay there gazing at the sky, a blade of grass dangling from his mouth. Before he could speak, Dai Kejian said, "You can stay here, but you're not allowed to ask any questions."

The snack vendor had no choice but to shut up and sit down cross-legged.

After a while, he nudged Dai Kejian's shoulder and handed him a letter. Dai Kejian didn't take it. So he kept pushing until Dai Kejian finally got impatient, took the letter, crumpled it up without even looking at it, and threw it into the lake with a "plop".

The snack vendor was dumbfounded.

"How boring!" Dai Kejian said with dissatisfaction. "Sometimes I think, since I don't care about these things at all, if they want them, I'll just give them to them!"

Xiaochi wisely remained silent. Sure enough, Dai Kejian changed his mind the next moment, chuckling, "But... come to think of it, it's not good to be too idle. We should always find something to do. That would be quite interesting."

"Young Master—" the snack vendor called out.

What?

"What do you mean by what you said and what you just did by throwing your pen and leaving?" He really couldn't understand why the young master would suddenly get angry for no reason. But what surprised him even more was that the young master, who usually had a thick skin, actually blushed after hearing the question and replied gruffly, "That's none of your business!"

Goodness, the young master's behavior today is quite unusual.

“Then let me ask you something that concerns me—how long are you going to lie here?” Xiaochi said slowly. “If I want to meet Luo Yi at the banquet, I need to bathe and change half an hour beforehand, and now, it seems like it’s almost dusk…”

Before he could finish speaking, Dai Kejian jumped up, shouting as he ran, "Then what are you dawdling for? Hurry up! Go and get ready..."

Who's dawdling here? The snack vendor is speechless.

On one side, red candles burned brightly, and singing and dancing filled the air.

On one side is a bright crescent moon, and a gentle breeze is blowing.

Bi Feixian leaned against the railing atop the small building. In the garden not far below, Dai Kejian was hosting a banquet for Luo Yi. From her angle, she could see half of Luo Yi's body wrapped in a gauze dress, like a flower in the mist or the moon's reflection in the water—beautifully ethereal.

She could almost picture Dai Kejian's expression at that moment—drooling with lust. This guy really didn't care about his reputation. Bi Feixian scoffed disdainfully. Just then, someone quietly walked upstairs.

Without turning around, she already knew who it was, "The Grand Steward?"

The man walked up to her, and it was indeed Huai Su.

Why is Miss Bi not attending tonight's celebration banquet?

“If I said that I refused to attend because I was dissatisfied with the differential treatment I received—why should I be imprisoned and interrogated in Hantian City, while Luo Yi is lavishly welcoming me with wine and song…would you believe me?”

Huai Su chuckled and said, "Miss Bi is quite the joker."

Bi Feixian smiled, looked at the distant lights, and said leisurely, "Tonight, the military camp in the west of the city should also be filled with joy and peace, right?"

"Perhaps not just tonight."

“I heard that three more copper mines have been discovered in Boshan recently…” Bi Feixian turned her eyes and said, “Boshan is truly a treasure land.”

Huai Su was silent for a moment, then nodded and said, "There is always something to lose when you gain something. I have always understood this principle." As he spoke, he coughed lightly again.

Bi Feixian reached out to take his pulse and pondered, "Although rosemary can relieve pain, excessive use is not beneficial. It's best to stop taking it as soon as possible. I have already written to your teacher's wife about your condition. She is an expert in medicine and should have a solution."

Huai Su smiled and said, "Thank you for your trouble, Miss Bi."

"You don't need to thank me. We are allies now, so naturally I hope you can live as long as possible."

After saying this, without looking at him again, Bi Feiqian turned and went downstairs. She walked through the green forest path and into the Dai Mansion under the moon and stars. Like a woman who had experienced prosperity, she was still beautiful, but her brows showed signs of fatigue.

She frowned slightly and pushed open the study door. The study was quiet and empty; all the other lights were off, except for one on the table, casting a dim yellow glow. A copy of *The Strategies of the Warring States* lay open on the table. Bi Feixian placed it back on the shelf, but as she turned around, her elbow bumped the shelf, and several books that hadn't been properly placed fell down with a thud. She sighed and bent down to pick them up when the study door was suddenly flung open from the outside.

A woman's voice asked with a sweet laugh, "Is this your study?"

Another person laughed and said, "To be precise, I call this place the Warm Jade Fragrance Pavilion..."

Bi Feixian, who was about to straighten up, froze and instinctively hid behind the bookshelf. Was this for real? Dai Kejian had actually brought Luo Yi here alone?

The lamplight illuminated the woman's face; her eyebrows were long and her lips full and luscious—it was none other than Princess Luo Yi of Anluo City. And beside her, the man with a slightly tipsy, smiling face and narrowed eyes—who else could it be but Dai Kejian?

Luo Yi said angrily, "Do you do those shady things in the study?"

Dai Kejian opened his eyes wide and said, "Warm jade and fragrant scents are the most elegant things in the world. How can you say they are shameful?"

Luo Yi lowered her head and bit her lip, saying, "So...you brought me here, is it also...is there some other purpose behind it?"

Bi Feixian pressed herself against the wall, holding her breath, her face flushed, unable to tell whether it was anger or embarrassment. How could it be such a coincidence that she had to witness this? This was truly awful!

Dai Kejian lowered his voice and whispered in Luo Yi's ear, "Since you're willing to be alone with me, you should know what's going to happen."

“People say Dai Kejian is a womanizer, and I didn’t believe it, but it’s true!” Luo Yigege laughed. “No, I have to go back. Xiaoxiu and the others will be worried if they can’t find me.”

As she was about to leave, Dai Kejian stretched out his arm and hugged her around the waist, saying, "It's too late to regret it now..." The last syllable faded away as he murmured.

Bi Feixian couldn't help but close her eyes, and cold sweat instantly beaded on her forehead. She wished she could find a hole to crawl into.

Luo Yi suddenly let out a scream. Bi Feixian quickly opened her eyes and saw Dai Kejian carrying her to the table. He took a bottle of wine from the drawer and said, "On such a beautiful day, how can we not have a drink?"

Luo Yi chuckled and said, "So you were hiding wine in your study?"

"I'm only letting you know this secret, don't tell anyone else, okay?" Dai Kejian blinked. "If my teacher finds out, it'll be a disaster."

"I heard your teacher is a beauty too?" Luo Yi reached out and hooked her arm around his neck. "Did you make a move on her?"
