Capítulo 15

When Qi Xiaoyan came out of the classroom, she received a message from the Calabash Brothers Painting Classroom: "Dear student, this is the academic affairs office. Because Teacher Huajuan is not feeling well today, tonight's class has been rescheduled to tomorrow night. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. Please be aware."

Qi Xiaoyan frowned and thought for a while, as if she understood something.

Fang Chengran had brought Yang Wei back a few times before, but this was the first time he had entered her home.

The living room was simply decorated, but the warm-toned sofa and curtains gave it a cozy feel. He helped Yang Wei to the sofa and placed a cushion behind her: "Do you have a hot water bottle or a heat pack? The shop assistant just told me that applying heat can relieve pain."

Yang Wei pointed to the TV cabinet: "The hot water bottle seems to be placed there."

"Okay, wait a minute." Fang Chengran first turned on the water dispenser in the living room, then found the hot water bottle and plugged it in. There were two picture frames on the TV cabinet. Fang Chengran opened them, glanced at them, and then sneered as he put them back down.

Yang Wei leaned against the sofa with her eyes closed, her brows slightly furrowed, as if in pain. Fang Chengran gently patted her face and picked her up. Yang Wei woke up instantly: "What are you doing?"

Fang Chengran chuckled lightly: "What can I do? Go to bed."

Yang Wei still stared at him with wide eyes. Fang Chengran sighed helplessly, "What I mean is, you go sleep in the bed by yourself."

Yang Wei pursed her dry lips and said somewhat awkwardly, "I need to change my clothes first."

Fang Chengran smiled and left her in the bedroom, saying, "I'll bring you your medicine and hot water bottle later."

He closed the door after speaking. Yang Wei touched her slightly flushed cheeks, grabbed her pajamas and sanitary napkins, and went into the bathroom. As if timed perfectly, she had just come out of the bathroom when Fang Chengran knocked on the bedroom door: "Are you changed?"

"alright."

Yang Wei opened the door for him. Fang Chengran's gaze swept over her striped pajamas with three-quarter sleeves, and he smiled as he handed her the water glass and pills in his hand: "Take your medicine first."

Yang Wei took the medicine and swallowed it in one gulp. Fang Chengran then handed her a hot water bottle: "Go to sleep now."

Yang Wei, holding a hot water bottle, glanced at him and asked, "And what about you?"

Fang Chengran's lips slowly parted, and he leaned down slightly to whisper in her ear, "If you need, I can provide companionship services."

"...Thank you, but no need." Yang Wei snuggled into the blanket, glancing at the person at the door. "If you have something to do, you can go ahead. I'm fine now."

Fang Chengran leaned against the doorway, a hint of mockery in his eyes: "Don't worry, I won't have any ill intentions towards you."

Yang Wei's eyelashes fluttered twice, but she slowly closed her eyes. Fang Chengran had a slight smile on his lips. He had originally intended to go to the living room, but he inadvertently caught sight of the large wedding photo on the wall.

Everyone says that women look their most beautiful in a wedding dress, and Yang Wei, in her white gown, made Fang Chengran's heart skip a beat. The only flaw was that the smile on her face wasn't for herself.

Fang Chengran frowned slightly as he looked at the man beside him whose face was completely disfigured. He admitted that he was jealous of this man. His only goodwill towards him was that he had chosen to divorce Yang Wei, giving him a chance.

Next to the wedding photo was a poster of Mo Zhen. Mo Zhen was quite well-known overseas, so even Fang Chengran, who had only recently returned to China, recognized him. He raised an eyebrow, seemingly understanding Yang Wei's ex-husband's feelings; at least he wasn't magnanimous enough to tolerate his wife putting up posters of other men in the bedroom.

Yang Wei stirred slightly, causing the blanket to rustle. Fang Chengran glanced at her subconsciously; her eyebrows were slightly furrowed, and her eyelashes trembled restlessly, suggesting she wasn't sleeping soundly. After watching her for a while, Fang Chengran suddenly moved the corner of his mouth.

He wanted to kiss her.

This idea was like a seed that instantly took root and sprouted in Fang Chengran's heart, blossoming into a beautiful little flower.

It was just a kiss; it shouldn't be considered anything ulterior motive. Thinking this, Fang Chengran slowly bent down, instinctively holding his breath as if it were his first kiss. His lips drew closer, and he was about to finally touch Yang Wei's lips.

"What are you doing?"

The icy voice, laced with suppressed anger, was like a bucket of ice water falling from the sky, extinguishing all of Fang Chengran's beautiful fantasies.

Fang Chengran turned around and saw a tall, slender man standing in the doorway, his eyes cold and devoid of any warmth. Fang Chengran paused for a moment, then stood up with a smile: "That's the question I should be asking you. Don't you know that trespassing is illegal?"

Qi Xiaoyan opened her palm, and a bunch of keys fell from her hand, making a slight metallic clinking sound: "This is my home, I don't think there's a problem."

Fang Chengran recognized Qi Xiaoyan at first glance, but at this moment he only gave a slightly mocking smile: "You're Yang Wei's ex-husband? Since you're divorced, shouldn't you return the house key to her?"

"This is none of your business." Qi Xiaoyan took two steps forward, thinking this must be the owner of the Maserati downstairs. "You still haven't answered me what you were doing just now? Don't you know that molesting women is also a crime?"

Seemingly hearing Qi Xiaoyan's voice, Yang Wei groggily opened her eyes and mumbled, "Juanjuan..."

Qi Xiaoyan's brow twitched, and she quickly walked over: "Baby, what's wrong?"

Perhaps due to the medication, Yang Wei felt dizzy and disoriented. Qi Xiaoyan's features weren't very clear, and Yang Wei, with her eyes half-open, looked at him, suddenly becoming extremely aggrieved: "Juanjuan, my stomach hurts..."

Qi Xiaoyan's hand slid naturally under the covers and gently placed on Yang Wei's lower abdomen: "Is it here?"

"Um……"

Qi Xiaoyan gently massaged her lower abdomen a few times, and the just-right warmth of his palm made Yang Wei squint her eyes comfortably.

"Did you take your medicine?"

Yang Wei nodded: "I ate."

"Sweetie, the pain will go away after a nap." Qi Xiaoyan gently kissed her forehead, her voice as gentle as if she were coaxing a kindergarten child. "Now close your eyes and go to sleep, okay?"

"Okay," Yang Wei replied, then closed her eyes and fell asleep again. Qi Xiaoyan waited until her breathing became steady before getting up and leaving the bedroom. Fang Chengran followed behind him, his initial smile gone: "Mr. Qi, you should know that you and Yang Wei have nothing to do with each other anymore."

Qi Xiaoyan looked at him and asked in return, "And what about you? What is your relationship with Yang Wei?"

Fang Chengran said, "I used to be Yang Wei's elementary school classmate, now I'm her suitor, and in the future, I'm very likely to be her husband."

Qi Xiaoyan gave a cold smile and curled the corner of her lips: "A very bold hypothesis, but you can't prove it."

In that instant, Fang Chengran seemed to understand why Yang Wei wanted to divorce him. However, as a novelist, he couldn't possibly lose to a math professor in terms of eloquence. He looked directly at Qi Xiaoyan, a hint of a smile creeping into his eyes: "Time will tell."

Qi Xiaoyan's eyes remained icy cold, but her tone was exceptionally serious: "That's right, time will tell. But I must tell you, I agreed to divorce Yang Wei not because I no longer love her, but because I love her very much."

Fang Chengran's eyes also began to flash with coldness: "So what?"

“I think you’ve heard the word ‘remarriage’.”

Fang Chengran chuckled but remained silent. The two stood in the living room for a long time, neither showing any intention of leaving first.

Finally, Fang Chengran couldn't help but speak first: "Aren't you leaving? University professors must be very busy, right?"

Qi Xiaoyan glanced at him and said expressionlessly, "I can't leave you alone with Yang Wei."

Fang Chengran turned his head, his gaze somewhat sarcastic: "Mr. Qi, I saw you having dinner with a female celebrity earlier."

Qi Xiaoyan paused for a moment, then said unmoved, "Did you take any photos? Without photos, the magazine might not pay you."

Fang Chengran chuckled: "You know what I mean. But don't worry, I didn't tell Yang Wei, because your affairs aren't worth her worrying about."

"It's just a normal meal, there's nothing that can't be said."

After Qi Xiaoyan finished speaking, the living room returned to silence. A moment later, Qi Xiaoyan's phone rang. He walked to the window and answered, "Mom? I know, I'm on my way to the airport."

Fang Chengran, who had been eavesdropping, was secretly delighted. "He's off to the airport, huh? Goodbye, sir." Qi Xiaoyan turned to look at him, and Fang Chengran gave him a slight smile.

Qi laughed and said, "If you don't leave, I'll call the police."

Fang Chengran: "..."

I haven't seen such a shameless person in a long time.

Shameless

Both cars drove out of the residential area at the same time. Qi Xiaoyan's Audi headed straight for the airport, while Fang Chengran's Maserati circled the road once before driving back.

When Fang Chengran stood at Yang Wei's door again, a sinister smile appeared on his face—luckily, he was clever enough to secretly put Yang Wei's keys into his pocket while Qi Xiaoyan was on the phone.

He took the key out of his pocket, opened the door with the swiftness of a thief, and put Yang Wei's key back in its place.

Qi Xiaoyan waited at the airport for twenty minutes before finally seeing the person he was waiting for: "Aunt Zhao," he called out to a middle-aged woman in a light-colored suit at the exit, his voice neither too loud nor too soft, just loud enough for her to hear. The woman, with her black curls, looked up at the sound of his voice and immediately beamed when she saw Qi Xiaoyan: "Xiaoyan, have you been waiting long?"

"No." Qi Xiaoyan stepped forward to help her with her luggage, his movements very gentlemanly: "My car is parked outside, let's go out first."

“Okay.” Aunt Zhao got into the car with him, looking out the window with some curiosity. “I haven’t been to City A for only two years, but I almost don’t recognize this place anymore. This city is really changing rapidly.”

Qi Xiaoyan didn't respond, but Aunt Zhao's interest remained high: "Xiaoyan, are you busy teaching at the university?"

"fine."

"I saw your paper that you published a while ago in a magazine, it was excellent."

"Thanks."

Aunt Zhao chuckled, "You're still the same as when you were a child." She paused, then asked, "How is your wife?"

Qi Xiaoyan pondered for a moment: "She's very good."

Aunt Zhao smiled and said, "I was really shocked when I heard from your mother that you got married. You have no idea, your mother was always worried that you would grow old alone. Sigh, it's a good thing that our Wenwen waited for you for so long."

Aunt Zhao and Qi Xiaoyan's parents were colleagues, and their families used to live in the same compound and had a good relationship. Qi Xiaoyan was outstanding from a young age, and Aunt Zhao had long admired him as her son-in-law. Unfortunately, Qi Xiaoyan moved too fast; before her daughter Wenwen even graduated from high school, he had already gone abroad to pursue his doctorate.

"Aunt Zhao, you're joking." Qi Xiaoyan turned a corner at the next intersection, his voice devoid of emotion. Aunt Zhao knew this was just like him, and showed no displeasure: "Where are we going?"

Qi smiled and said, "I've already called and booked a room for you at the Dingou Hotel."

When Yang Wei woke up, it was already seven o'clock in the evening. Her stomachache was gone, but she was a little hungry. She lingered in bed for two minutes, then slowly got up and walked to the kitchen.

A faint aroma of food filled the living room. Yang Wei's brow twitched, and she cautiously peeked into the kitchen.

Fang Chengran held a spoon in his right hand, tasting the porridge in it. His head was slightly lowered, his bangs brushing against his eyelashes, carrying a hint of hazy allure. It was truly a pleasing sight, and Yang Wei, reluctant to spoil it, coughed after a few seconds and said, "Fang Chengran, you haven't left yet?"

Hearing Yang Wei's voice, Fang Chengran raised his eyes slightly, a faint smile appearing on his lips: "I thought you would be very hungry when you woke up, so I stayed here to cook for you. Aren't you touched?"

Yang Wei chuckled, walked over and glanced into the pot. It was millet, egg, and brown sugar porridge: "You can make this too?"

Fang Chengran picked up his phone, which was lying to the side, and waved it: "There are many results online."

Yang Wei nodded in agreement, and Fang Chengran waved to her, saying, "Go sit in the living room, it'll be ready soon."

“Okay.” Yang Wei took two steps outside, then suddenly stopped, turned around and asked, “Fang Chengran, have you been here the whole time?”

"yes."

"Has anyone been here?"

Fang Chengran paused slightly in his spoon, then looked up at her: "No, why do you ask?"

Yang Wei smiled and said, "It's nothing, just don't burn the porridge."

"I'm not you." Fang Chengran shooed her out of the kitchen. Yang Wei walked to the sofa, sat down, and hugged a cushion, lost in thought.

So it really was all a dream? That's why Qi Xiaoyan came.

A moment later, Fang Chengran came out of the kitchen carrying two bowls, and Yang Wei quickly took one of them. The two sat down at the table, and Fang Chengran watched her take a bite of the porridge before asking expectantly, "How does it taste?"

Yang Wei gave him a thumbs up: "Chef Fang! No wonder your family owns a hotel!"
