Capítulo 3

Don't get angry, don't get angry. He's a poor little guy with no parents. Don't argue with him.

As he rubbed his hands and thought, Song Lang's gaze swept over the trash can, where he saw an ice pop lying inside, its packaging still unopened.

So all his good intentions were wasted.

Song Lang could no longer contain his anger.

"What are you doing? I came here out of kindness to play with you, and you didn't want to, fine, but you even hit me! Do you think I wanted to play with you? Bah!"

He stood up, leaning against the wall, and walked away with a limp.

Shen Zhifei stood alone in the room, head down, biting her lip, motionless.

After a while, he went over and picked up the slippers that had been thrown off the ground, and quietly placed them at the door of the next room.

Chapter 002

Song Lang decided to ignore Shen Zhifei forever.

Even though Shen Zhifei still obediently called him "brother" with a smile at breakfast the next day, he just gave a cool hum.

After breakfast, Shen Lingyu took the two children to school together.

Song Lang sat in the back seat looking unhappy. "I've been going to school by myself for the past two years. It turns out I'm only able to ride in the car because of my younger brother."

Shen Zhifei lowered his eyes and remained silent.

Shen Lingyu glared at him in the rearview mirror. "Isn't this your younger brother who just transferred here? I have to come over and say a few words to the homeroom teacher. Starting tomorrow, the two of you will go to and from school together."

“We’re not in the same grade! I’m walking with Meng Fanxing.”

"You must bring Zhifei along. You promised me, have you forgotten so quickly?"

Song Lang remained silent; his ankle still ached, and he was unwilling to take the culprit to and from school.

Shen Zhifei clutched the hem of her clothes with both hands and said softly, "Mom, I can go to school by myself, it's okay."

Song Lang quickly said, "Mom, did you hear that? He's fine on his own."

“I said no and that’s final,” Shen Lingyu said firmly. “Song Lang, you’re the older brother now, so you have to act like one. Zhifei is a transfer student and he’s young. I’m worried that someone might bully him. You have to keep an eye on him for me, or I’ll hold you accountable.”

Why should I worry about others bullying him? He even pushed me so hard I fell down last night.

Song Lang inwardly grumbled, but reluctantly agreed aloud.

As soon as he arrived at school, he took off running, seemingly without any pain in his feet.

The head of the teaching department watched the figure rush past him like the wind, stroked his chin thoughtfully: This kid is so eager to go to school, there must be something wrong.

During physical education class, Meng Fanxing and Song Lang were once again punished by having to run laps for violating the rules.

Both of them were used to it, and running ten laps in one go was no big deal for them.

But today, Song Lang couldn't run more than two laps.

His ankle hurt so much that he could barely stand.

Meng Fanxing helped him to the infirmary, and when she saw his feet, she laughed: "Are you out of your mind? Your feet are swollen like this and you still want to run? Do you want to win glory for the country in the Paralympics when you grow up?"

"Will you die if you don't keep talking nonsense?" Song Lang said, grinning. "It's all because of that little brat."

"Is that your new little brother?" Meng Fanxing thought carefully about the child she saw at the school gate that morning. "That shouldn't be the case, he's not even as tall as you."

"I wasn't paying attention, and he pushed me, causing me to twist my ankle. If it were a real fight, I would definitely beat him to a pulp."

Meng Fanxing pulled up a chair and sat down next to him, asking with great interest, "Tell me quickly, how does it feel to suddenly have a younger brother? Have you fallen out of favor at home?"

“It’s great to have someone call me ‘brother’.” Song Lang was happy for less than a second before his face fell again. “But that kid is quite good at pretending. He calls me all affectionately in front of my parents, but he ignores me as soon as he turns his back. When I gave him an ice pop, he just threw it away.”

"Wow, that's impressive! Go tell your parents, let's see how he can keep up the act now." Meng Fanxing offered advice.

Song Lang shook his head: "It's not that bad. We're not familiar with each other yet. When we first met, you tore up my homework. Did I report you to the teacher?"

Meng Fanxing smiled sarcastically: "You'd be happy if I tore up your homework, you academic failure."

"You, who came in second to last, have the nerve to laugh at me?"

"Anyway, I'm a better student than you. Be careful you don't have to repeat a grade, or Aunt Shen will tear you apart."

"Shut your damn mouth."

"Don't disbelieve me, I'm very reliable," Meng Fanxing chuckled. "When you and your new brother become classmates, let's see how you still act like a big shot."

"Get out of here, you're just making trouble." Song Lang felt a little guilty after being told that; he had been sitting firmly on the bottom spot in the entire school for a whole semester.

"By the way, which class is your little brother in in the second grade?"

Meng Fanxing stumped Song Lang, who didn't know the answer.

So, the two of them took advantage of the break between classes to go downstairs to look for someone in the second grade. There were six classes in total, and they found Shen Zhifei in class 3.

Song Lang recognized him almost immediately, even though they had only known each other for less than a day.

The children in the class were all playing and laughing, but Shen Zhifei was sitting quietly in the corner reading a book. She was thin and small, and looked particularly lonely.

Song Lang felt sorry for him again.
