Capítulo 93

Because of her greed, she did too much; she stuffed all the textbooks into the container and it still wasn't big enough.

Xu Chacha stared at her profile, which seemed to glow in the moonlight, and suddenly felt an overwhelming liking for this place.

This is the land where Wen Mubai grew up.

—She likes her very much too.

"How about we come every summer vacation from now on?"

Wen Mubai turned around with a faint smile on his face. "Okay."

...

The next morning, Xu Chacha was dragged out of bed by the old man to listen to his flower-growing tips. However, Wen Mubai seemed to be busy with something, and after lunch, he went to work on his computer.

Xu Chacha coaxed the old man to take a nap, then went to the kitchen, cut half a watermelon, and brought it to the room.

Wen Mubai wore silver-rimmed glasses and a white vest that was being used as pajamas. His hair was casually clipped back, making him look more down-to-earth than usual.

A director she knew had asked her to write a script before, but she declined, citing her busy work schedule. However, a few months later, the director wrote a script for her and asked her to take a look and give some suggestions. Out of courtesy, Wen Mubai did not refuse again.

She spent half an hour reading through the general plot beforehand, and is now making revisions.

Xu Chacha leaned over and offered her a slice of watermelon, but Wen Mubai shook her head. "I don't want any. You should eat less too. Watermelon is cooling."

"Oh." Xu Chacha responded perfunctorily, then lowered her head, took a big bite, held it in her mouth, and chewed it by her ear.

The watermelons this season are incredibly juicy and sweet. She made a satisfying "crunch, crunch, crunch" sound with every bite, and you could imagine how delicious they were without even tasting them yourself.

But Xu Chacha whispered seductively in her ear, "It's so sweet, don't you really want some?"

Wen Mubai turned his head and opened his mouth.

Xu Chacha smiled and handed over the melon she had taken a bite of, but quickly took it away just as Wen Mubai lowered his head to eat it.

Wen Mubai missed his target, glanced at her briefly, and then turned back to continue typing without paying much attention.

I'm used to her occasional mischief.

"Eat up, eat up." This time, Xu Chacha proactively offered the melon to her lips.

Wen Mubai lowered his eyes, stretched out his chin to touch it, but found nothing.

Turning her head, Xu Chacha already had a bright smile on her face, clearly pleased with her successful prank.

Wen Mubai pinched her cheek. "Stop fooling around, it'll be ready soon."

But a few seconds later, the watermelon that had been used as bait was handed over again. This time, Wen Mubai grabbed Xu Chacha's wrist directly, but his mouth went for her lips instead of the watermelon.

A deep kiss that almost reached her throat left the naughty little devil powerless to resist. Wen Mubai lightly bit her lower lip as punishment, but Xu Chacha smiled with her eyes crinkling, turned her head, and a series of kisses followed her chin to her collarbone, then left a rose-red mark on it using the techniques she had personally taught her.

Her teary eyes were full of implications, and how could Wen Mubai not understand?

"It ended with just a few words."

Xu Chacha blinked twice, thinking she was going to spoil the fun, but the next second she was picked up and turned to face the notebook.

Wen Mubai stood behind her, took off his ring, and said, "I'll read it, you write it down."

Xu Chacha felt weak all over, with no strength left. Her beautiful almond-shaped eyes narrowed, and tears welled up in her eyes, but then she heard these words.

She looked back and saw that Wen Mubai was dressed neatly, his hair was not messy at all, and his face with glasses looked particularly serious and solemn.

She wasn't joking.

"That's too much..."

She did scold him, but in the end, she still finished writing the rest with trembling fingers.

Fortunately, Wen Mubai wasn't so harsh as to demand that she correct every single typo, otherwise Xu Chacha would have really burst into tears.

Chapter 70 Ending Part 2

The next day was a bright and beautiful day.

After lunch, Xu Chacha picked up a small bucket and pulled Wen Mubai out.

Unlike Xu Chacha, who was only wearing a cropped sleeveless top, Wen Mubai was completely covered in a sun-protective outfit, with a thick layer of sunscreen applied, even covering his ears.

She was holding a Polaroid camera, a gift from Xu Chacha. The one she had taken more than ten years ago had broken, so this was a new one she had bought, and it still worked pretty much the same way.

The leaves and flowers rustled in the wind, accompanied by birdsong, creating a pleasant sound. Xu Chacha opened her arms, tilted her head back, and took a deep breath. Suddenly, she felt that even the excessively bright sunlight had become tolerable.

A swing was built at some point next to the flower field. The swing chair was made of tightly intertwined wooden vines, and it also had a canopy on top, decorated with a light-colored lace floral fabric. It was very sturdy to sit on, and you wouldn't feel stuffy or exposed to the sun.

"You sit here." She settled Wen Mubai, who was afraid of the sun, here. "I'll go pick some flowers."

Then she held it up and took selfies and pictures of the flowers in the flower field. After playing for a while, Wen Mubai felt like a bored parent letting his child run wild. As the swing swayed, she became sleepy again. If Xu Chacha didn't come and make a noise in her ear, she would fall asleep.

While she was lost in thought, Xu Chacha raised her camera and snapped a picture of her. The photo was slowly ejected, and she shook it off before carefully tucking it into her small pouch at her waist like a treasure.

Wen Mubai beckoned to her, signaling her to come over.

Xu Chacha came running over, panting, and when she sat down, the swing wobbled from the impact.

"Take a break." Wen Mubai took out a tissue and wiped the sweat from her forehead.

Xu Chacha is without makeup today. Her cheeks, baked by the sun, are rosy and cute, like a fragrant apple.

"I picked up so many!" Xu Chacha poured out the branches, leaves, and petals from her arms like a treasure. "I can make a huge wreath."

Wen Mubai picked up a few. He originally thought he had long forgotten the skill of weaving flower wreaths, but when he got the items, they started moving on their own.

Xu Chacha joined in weaving, and the two seemed to have returned to their childhood, doing nothing and thinking nothing, with only the branches and leaves in the wood to worry about.

Wen Mubai finished first, and with a smile, placed the flower wreath on Xu Chacha's head.

In return, Xu Chacha couldn't resist taking another picture of her with the camera.

Every smiling Wen Mubai deserves to be photographed and kept.

"Guess what else I picked up just now."

Wen Mubai raised an eyebrow, asking with his eyes.

Xu Chacha asked her mysteriously, "Close your eyes and stick them out."

Wen Mubai smiled, but did as instructed.

She felt Xu Chacha take off her right ring, and just as she was wondering why Xu Chacha was so hostile towards this ring, a new, cold ring was put on her left ring finger.

She looked down, opened her eyes, and saw a diamond ring. It was a wide-cut ring, with a large diamond in the center and a neat circle of smaller diamonds around it, making it excessively dazzling in the sunlight.

Looking up again, Xu Chacha noticed that she had put on a ring in the same spot on her left side at some point.

"I wanted to do it myself, but it's too difficult. I can't even draw a circle. But this is my own design, and I put the diamonds on one by one by clamping them. You have no idea how hard it was for me..."

Before Xu Chacha could finish speaking, Wen Mubai swallowed all of her words.

When she let go, she was already panting, but the person who started it all had a faint smile on their face. "Was this a marriage proposal?"

Xu Chacha's eyelashes trembled twice. "Well... it's not impossible."

"So reluctant?" Wen Mubai nodded, feigning disappointment. "Then let's wait a little longer. It's normal for a young man to want to play around for a few more years."

"Who wants to play! What nonsense are you talking about?"

Wen Mubai looked at him with a smile, "What does that mean? How am I supposed to know if you don't tell me?"

Xu Chacha felt like strangling her.

"If I said I wanted to marry you, would you say yes?"

The person who was in a bad mood was immediately calmed down.

"OK."

The proposal took place on an ordinary afternoon in a casual country flower field, and even their words didn't contain much excitement or joy.

But what Xu Chacha wanted was never some sensational, passionate romance. She longed for a long-lasting, gentle companionship. As long as she could hold hands with this person and live such an "ordinary" life every day, she would be satisfied.

Wen Mubai's voice was soft, but it carried a heavy weight. Xu Chacha knew that she never joked and would keep her promises even after five or ten years.

Just like twelve years ago, there was that sentence, "Your sister will always be with you."

They had played too wildly earlier, and Xu Chacha couldn't walk anymore on the way back. Wen Mubai quietly squatted down in front of her, and she chuckled and jumped on him without feeling embarrassed at all.

After getting on someone's back, he asked in a teasing tone, "I'm not too heavy, am I? What if I tire my wife out?"

"Then will you come down?"

"No." Xu Chacha hugged her, stacking two pieces together to shield her head. "I'm fine here, I can shield my wife from the sun."

However... it doesn't seem to have much effect.

No matter how much you dislike sweating, you can't escape it when carrying someone for such a long distance.

Sweat washed away the sunscreen, and the summer sun was scorching. When Wen Mubai took a shower at night, he saw small red rashes on his chest and back in the mirror.

Fortunately, it's not serious; it's just a little itchy, and there's no broken skin.

She grabbed a bathrobe and wrapped it around herself. When she returned to her room and was about to look for the ointment, she saw that it was already laid out on the table, a dazzling array of items: cotton swabs, medicine, ointment, and wet wipes. Xu Chacha was sitting behind the table, like a street vendor.

The proprietress greeted her warmly, saying, "I noticed the rash on the back of your neck earlier. Come here, let me apply it for you."

She never expected that even with sunscreen and sun-protective clothing, it wouldn't be enough. She should have known better than to take Wen Mubai out.

Wen Mubai did not refuse. He sat down in front of her, untied the bow on his waist, and his bathrobe slid lightly off his shoulders.

Her hair was already pulled back, revealing her slender neck and her back, which was covered in red spots.

But in Xu Chacha's eyes, it still looks good.

She dipped a cotton swab in the ointment and patted it on little by little, leaving traces of the ointment that ran up Wen Mubai's beautiful shoulder blades from his snowy neck.

"There are some up ahead too."

Xu Chacha stopped what she was doing. "You can see it from the front. Do it yourself."

She heard Wen Mubai chuckle softly and turn his head. "I'm not shy, so what are you afraid of?"

Xu Chacha turned her head away, pretending to look at the stars outside the window, and said, "That's right, it's more convenient for you to come from the front than for me."

"Convenient?" Wen Mubai grabbed her and put her on top of him. "I think it would be more convenient for me if my wife did it for me."
