Capítulo 12

Mao Xianzhi called this special treatment an honor for the experimental class.

Ye Ruhui called this unnecessary step a training exercise in killing without leaving a trace.

As soon as Jian Mingyuan finished speaking, Mao Xianzhi slapped the brown paper bag directly at Ye Ruhui's head. He sincerely admired Ye Ruhui's persistent attitude in contradicting the homeroom teacher. He never gave up and was even more courageous after each setback.

This week's exam is in math, and it lasts for two hours, from 2:30 to 4:30.

Ji Li lost his schoolbag, so he borrowed Jian Mingyuan's pen to pass the exam.

September temperatures were high, and the rain in the early morning did nothing to alleviate the lingering heat of late summer. The ceiling fan creaked and groaned as everyone's palms sweated as they wrote, and the more they wrote, the more agitated they became.

Then, with a "whoosh," someone walked onto the stage with an answer sheet.

Jian Mingyuan looked shocked.

The students below looked shocked.

Even the proctoring homeroom teacher checked the time before asking, "Hand it in now?"

Ji Li hummed in agreement: "Can I leave after I hand in my paper?"

Mao Xianzhi casually remarked, "You really don't want to stay in the classroom?"

"It's too hot in the classroom."

Mao Xianzhi was taken aback at first, then nodded: "That's right, you must be having a hard time with this weather." Then he made a decision, "The electricity card should be inserted in the blue bookshelf on the left side of my desk, you can see it at a glance. Can you go and pay the bill for me now?"

When Ji Li was faced with a table full of paper, pens and documents in the past, she felt that the other party might have misunderstood the description of "can be seen at a glance".

Ten minutes later.

Ji Li returned to the classroom, inserted the electricity card into the slot, and pressed the air conditioner switch.

The students sitting on both sides didn't need to be told; they all closed the windows in unison. The people in the first row were the first to benefit, feeling the cool air blowing in their faces, and they looked at him as if he were an angel: "Long live the class monitor!"

Ji Li didn't linger in the classroom; he put down the remote and went upstairs.

.

The dean of students' office is on the fourth floor.

Ji Li knocked on the door and, after being allowed to enter, found the dean's desk and immediately spotted the familiar, chubby figure behind the computer.

"Director Qiu."

Qiu Gu peeked out from behind the computer, saw it was him, and raised an eyebrow: "Ji Li? What can I do for you, teacher?"

"I lost my schoolbag at noon."

Qiu Gu stopped typing and leaned back in his chair, his tone stern: "Weren't you the one who climbed over the wall and ran away at noon today?"

Ying Yunsheng had just stepped into the office when he heard this sentence, and he subconsciously paused in his steps.

Ji Li: "It's me."

Qiu Gu was caught off guard by his frank admission. The words he had prepared were nowhere to be uttered. After a long pause, he finally managed to stammer out, "Why did you go out?"

Ji Li: "Let's go home for dinner."

Qiu Gu: "Why didn't you go home after school yesterday, which was the weekend?"

"I had a fight with my family yesterday."

Why did you leave before get out of class ended?

"If we don't hurry, we won't be able to catch the bus."

Why do you need to use a VPN?

"The school gates are not open."

Ying Yunsheng: "..."

If he hadn't been one of the witnesses, he would have believed this account with its complete cause and effect.

"Bang--"

Qiu Gu suddenly slammed his hand on the table, causing the pen holder, pen barrel, textbooks, and small ornaments to jump up. His suddenly raised voice startled the other teachers in the office who were eavesdropping: "Do you think I'm so nearsighted that I can't even tell how many heads a person has? Did you take a girl with you when you ran away? Do you have to bring your whole family along when you go out to eat?!"

"Uh..." So that's what made me angry.

Just as Ji Li was about to speak, a voice suddenly rang out from behind him: "That person is me."

Qiu Gu turned his head stiffly.

Ying Yunsheng came over because of what happened at noon. Before anyone could ask, he gave the explanation they wanted: "But we just happened to bump into each other. We weren't dating."

Qiu Gu almost couldn't catch his breath.

The final outcome of this matter was that both of them were punished by writing a thousand-word self-criticism.

Considering it was a first offense, the punishment was actually quite lenient. Qiu Gu was probably also choked by the anger, and in the end, he didn't remember to warn the homeroom teacher.

Ji Li took the paper and pen kindly provided by the teacher who had listened to the whole thing at the next table, spread the letter on the marble railing, and wrote the three words "apology letter" neatly on the first line.

Then it stopped.

His Chinese language skills were actually quite good; he had written argumentative essays, narrative essays, and explanatory and practical essays in the past. However, he had never practiced writing a self-criticism, a skill that was considered advanced.

While we were still figuring out how to begin, the person on the other end had already scribbled down four or five lines.

Ji Li watched with curiosity, and even considered asking the other party for advice.

Ying Yunsheng probably noticed the gaze on him too: "What's wrong?"

Ji Li then asked, "Can you teach me how to write a self-criticism?"

“Uh…” Ying Yunsheng glanced at the blank space on his side and looked away: “Wait until I finish writing.”

The other person was so engrossed in writing that Ji Li didn't ask any more questions. He twirled his pen as he waited, gradually letting his mind drift away.

There was one more self-study period after the exam, and the entire teaching building was extremely quiet at this moment. However, the wind in the high-rise building was very strong, churning and buzzing through the air, whipping up the letter paper under his elbow and making it flutter until the bell suddenly rang to signal the end of get out of class.

Suddenly, a corner of the paper was pressed down, and the whooshing sound stopped.

Ji Li snapped out of her daze and subconsciously looked over.

With a slight push of the fingertips, the paper was gently pulled away, and then a letter of self-criticism was pushed over.

Ying Yunsheng said, "You should use this one."

Ji Li was taken aback.

Before he could speak, the other person reached out his right hand again, took the pen, and signed his name in the blank space at the top of the letter.

In just a few seconds, the other person withdrew their hand and lowered their head to write the second piece.

A note from the author:

Thank you so much for your support! I will continue to work hard!

Zhaozhou Bridge

Qiu Gu put on his glasses and began to read the self-criticism.

Ji Li stood to the side without saying a word.

He had read it before submitting it, and the experience described in the self-criticism was clearly written based on his account in the office, entirely from his perspective, leaving no room for revision.

Qiu Gu looked at it from beginning to end but found nothing wrong. He returned the found backpack along with the apology to him and sighed, "I'll let it go this time, but don't let it happen again."

Then he turned to look at another person: "Yunsheng."

Ying Yunsheng lowered his head and waited quietly for his fate.

Qiu Gu watched him struggle for a long time before finally managing to utter only, "Don't do it again." He then emphasized, "You know your current situation; you can't just accept a punishment without careful consideration."

Ying Yunsheng nodded.

He looked so adorable when he admitted his mistake that Qiu Gu couldn't say a harsh word to him and could only wave him away.

It takes a lot of time for one person to write two self-criticisms, and by the time the two of them came out, the first evening self-study session had already begun.

Ji Li handed over the letter in his hand: "Your self-criticism."

Ying Yunsheng paused for a moment, then shook his head: "Fat Ball has already been checked, you can just throw it away."

Having just reached the third floor, Ying Yunsheng went back to the classroom first.

Ji Li stared at the self-criticism for a few seconds, but didn't throw it away. He folded the paper twice, went back to the classroom, randomly picked out a book, and tucked the self-criticism into it.

After the first evening self-study session ended, he took his phone and left the classroom.

The school's main gate is always guarded by security guards, while the back gate has become a secret meeting place for students to occasionally order takeout.

When Ji Li arrived, the deliveryman had already left.

He took the takeout bag down from the top of the iron railing, tore off the receipt and threw it into the trash can, then picked up the bag and walked back.

The playground is always bustling with people during breaks. Even though it's not as hot as during the day, the number of people is always even greater. Some are running laps, some are taking a walk, and there are even young couples who take the opportunity to sneak out and whisper sweet nothings to each other under the cover of night.

Students whose faces he couldn't see ran past him in a flurry, but then one of them suddenly stopped, turned slightly to the side, and walked towards him.

For a moment, Ji Li thought he was seeing things: "Ying Yunsheng?"

He clearly had no idea the other person existed at the school for the past year, but since the night the placement exam ended, they seemed to have met far too frequently.

Ying Yunsheng stopped a few feet away from him, hummed in response, and then explained, "I came down for a run."

High school students face heavy academic pressure, and seasonal changes often coincide with peak periods for illnesses, leading many to make it a habit to exercise during breaks between evening self-study sessions.

Streetlights illuminated the area around the playground, and the shadows of the runners overlapped and then moved away with each step. Only the two of them stood face to face, their shadows stretched into two long parallel lines.

Ji Li held the takeout bag up to him: "That's perfect, this is for you."

"What?"

Ji Li casually opened the bag and took out the square box inside. Under the transparent plastic shell was an extremely tempting cake.

"Thank you for helping me write the self-criticism."

Ji Li thought for a moment and then added, "Chocolate flavor."
