Chapter 1: The Gates of Hell

Lin Qiu turned on his computer, intending to search for information online.

My girlfriend, Bai Yue, was half-lying on the bed reading a book.

He habitually opened his browser, and suddenly, a website called "Gates of Hell" caught his eye. He was taken aback. He remembered that he always set S as his homepage. How did the default homepage suddenly become this eerie and mysterious website?

"Bai Yue, have you logged into this website?" Lin Qiu asked his girlfriend, pointing to the computer screen.

"No, I never visit those weird websites. You know I'm afraid of ghosts." Bai Yue got up, glanced at the computer, gave a lazy reply, and lay back down.

Actually, there are many websites about ghosts and spirits online, so there's nothing to be alarmed about. Lin Qiu was about to close the website when a line of text suddenly appeared on the screen and caught his attention: "Tonight at midnight, I will come to see you..."

Like most ghost and supernatural websites, the background of this site was a chilling black, with the words "Gates of Hell" flickering like will-o'-the-wisps, flashing on and off like ghosts. In the center of the page was a grotesque, terrifying blue skull. Its two eyeless eyes appeared as dark, unfathomable depths, strangely mysterious. When Lin Qiu moved the mouse over the skull's left eye, a button suddenly appeared, labeled "Road to Hell." Moving the mouse to the right eye, another eye appeared, also a button, labeled "Ghost Friends Club." The text he had just seen was coming from the skull's mouth—a line of white text that gradually grew larger, thicker, and more bizarre as it approached. As Lin Qiu watched, he couldn't help but feel a sense of dread.

"Woo-woo-woo-woo-"

Suddenly, a mournful woman's cry came from a corner of the room! The cry was intermittent, sometimes loud and sometimes soft, full of sorrow and resentment, and in this dark night, it was chilling and terrifying!

Bai Yue screamed in fright, trembling as she pulled the blanket over her head, the book in her hand slipping off the bed with a "thud." Lin Qiu was also startled by the sudden, terrifying cry, his whole body shaking. He opened his eyes wide in fear, looking around to find the source of the crying.

Suddenly his eyes were fixed on the black speaker under the computer desk.

The terrifying crying was coming from that speaker! His hands trembled as he prepared to turn it off, when suddenly he saw the line of text on the computer screen turn red—a chilling red! Finally, the text gradually transformed into drops of blood, quickly staining the entire screen! Just then, the woman suddenly stopped crying. A very deep and terrifying voice came from the speaker: "Tonight at midnight, I will come to see you…"

The moment the words left his mouth, the entire screen went black—the computer shut down automatically!

Lin Qiu's face was deathly pale, and cold sweat beaded on his forehead. He sat there blankly, clearly still unable to recover from the fear he had just experienced.

"I will come to see you at midnight tonight..." This terrifying voice kept echoing in his mind.

"Lin Qiu, what's wrong with you?" Bai Yue, still in shock, sat up tremblingly, her eyes filled with extreme fear.

"No, it's nothing." Lin Qiu finally came to his senses, staring at the pitch-black computer screen in front of him, still feeling a faint sense of fear. "What kind of website is this? It's terrifying!"

"I'm never going to look at this website again, I'm so scared!" Bai Yue sobbed softly. She was truly terrified.

"I'm not going to look at it anymore, I'll never look at this awful website again, I'll delete it completely tomorrow." Lin Qiu sat on the bed, put his arm around her trembling shoulders, and comforted her, "Don't be afraid, it's just a prank by some bored internet addict!"

To ease the tension, Lin Qiu turned on the stereo and played some beautiful light music, instantly restoring the room's usual cozy atmosphere. Lin Qiu sat on the edge of the bed, Bai Yue nestled in his arms, lying quietly, her body still trembling slightly.

Lin Qiu lovingly stroked Bai Yue's fragrant hair. She was so pure and beautiful, so serene and charming, with a petite and endearing air about her. In Lin Qiu's eyes, Bai Yue was the most beautiful girl in the world, and he loved her dearly.

Lin Qiu frowned, staring blankly out the window. It was pitch black outside, and a light drizzle had begun to fall. The shadows of the trees outside the window flickered and swayed in the night wind, looking like ghosts.

A sudden, inexplicable unease gripped him; he had a feeling something was going to happen tonight. His gaze unconsciously drifted back to the computer that had inexplicably shut down earlier, utterly baffled. He couldn't understand why it had turned off automatically; this had never happened before.

Suddenly, he remembered that terrifying website, that grotesque blue skull, the mournful cry of a woman, the blood-soaked computer screen, and that terrifying phrase: "Tonight at midnight, I will come to see you..."

He subconsciously looked up at the clock on the wall; the hour hand was pointing to eleven o'clock.

Bai Yue was curled up in his arms, already fast asleep.

Lin Qiu turned off the music and the lights. With a hint of unease, he lay down next to Bai Yue, gently held her, and drifted off to sleep.

The second quarter features a surprise appearance by Blue Skull.

Outside the window, the rain seemed to be getting heavier, pattering against the glass with a soft "shush" sound. The night was as black as if it had been splashed with thick ink, dark and gloomy, like a demon lurking in the shadows, ready to devour the world at any moment.

The clock on the wall ticked away, and with each tick, it seemed to bring terror one step closer.

In a daze, Lin Qiu seemed to sense someone entering their room. If he wasn't mistaken, it was a woman. He seemed to feel a chilling aura emanating from her, which slowly seeped into his entire body, causing him to tremble.

He struggled desperately to open his eyes, but they were as if taped shut, impossible to open. The woman approached their bed step by step. Her face was deathly pale, devoid of color, her hair disheveled, and she wore a blue dress. Her eyes seemed to be filled with a burning hatred. She pressed closer, step by step. Clearly, her target was Bai Yue; she wanted to kill Bai Yue!

"No!" Lin Qiu shouted, sitting up abruptly. He hurriedly turned on the desk lamp and found himself covered in cold sweat.

"Lin Qiu, what's wrong?" Bai Yue was startled awake by him, sat up, and looked at him with a puzzled expression.

"No, it's nothing. I just had a nightmare." Lin Qiu's face was a little pale. Suddenly, he asked Bai Yue curiously, "Are you alright?"

"I'm perfectly fine. Why do you ask that?"

Lin Qiu remained silent, subconsciously scanning the room but finding nothing unusual. Suddenly, his eyes fell on a window—it had been blown open by the wind! No, it couldn't have been the wind! He remembered that all the windows had been tightly closed before he went to bed because it was raining outside; even a strong wind couldn't have blown them open.

Lin Qiu stared at the window that was swaying in the wind, and his heart was suddenly filled with fear!

"Ring ring ring— Ring ring ring—"

The phone outside the living room suddenly rang. Its sharp ringing sounded unusually jarring in the quiet midnight, even sending chills down one's spine.

"A midnight phone call?" A thought inexplicably flashed through Lin Qiu's mind, and his heart trembled slightly. Bai Yue was also stunned by the midnight phone call; who would call at this hour?

"Don't be afraid, I'll go take a look." Lin Qiu got up, put on his coat, opened the door, and went to the living room.

The phone kept ringing, its ringing sending chills down my spine.

Lin Qiuqiang suppressed his fear and grabbed the microphone: "Hello, who are you?"

There was no sound on the other end of the phone. After a while, a dial tone sounded.

Lin Qiu hung up the phone, his mind a complete blank, his palms sweating. He paced aimlessly around the living room, but the phone didn't ring again. So, he turned off the living room light and prepared to go back to his room.

Just then, the phone blared again. Without even turning on the light, Lin Qiu strode over, grabbed the receiver, and roared angrily, "Who are you?!"

There was still silence on the other end of the phone. Lin Qiu was almost going crazy; he just couldn't take it anymore!

"I will come to see you at midnight tonight..."

Suddenly, an extremely deep and terrifying voice came from the other end of the phone! This voice was exactly the same as the one that had just come from the computer speakers! This familiar yet terrifying voice almost drove Lin Qiu to the brink of collapse.

"Who...who are you?"

"Beep—beep—"

The other person did not speak again.

Lin Qiu slumped onto the sofa in the living room, his eyes fixed on the telephone, both hoping and fearing it would ring again.

Suddenly, a pair of hands landed on his shoulders, and he trembled! He turned around abruptly and saw Bai Yue.

"Whose call was it?" Bai Yue pressed her face against his head and asked gently.

"A strange phone call."

"What did she say?" Bai Yue turned the living room lights back on.

"I will come to see you at midnight tonight..."

Bai Yue's heart skipped a beat, and fear flashed in her eyes: "This, isn't this the sentence that just came from the computer?"

"Don't be afraid, maybe, just maybe someone is playing a prank," Lin Qiu comforted Bai Yue. Suddenly, he seemed to remember something. "Bai Yue, what time is it?"

Two points.

"Oh, it's nothing, let's go back to our room and sleep."

"I need to use the restroom. Lin Qiu, wait for me."

"Okay, I'll wait for you."

It was past midnight, and Lin Qiu felt a little more at ease. He sat on the sofa and closed his eyes.

Outside the window, the rain pattered softly, and the branches of the trees swayed in the wind, their shadows flickering like ghosts.

"Help!"

Suddenly, Bai Yue's terrified scream came from the bathroom!

Lin Qiu jumped up and headed straight for the bathroom.

"Bai Yue, Bai Yue, what happened?"

"Lin Qiu, come quick, come quick!"

Lin Qiu rushed into the bathroom and found Bai Yue leaning against the wall, her face pale and her eyes filled with fear. She was pointing tremblingly at the bathroom mirror.

Lin Qiu's hair stood on end when he saw it!

A hideous, terrifying blue skull appeared in the mirror...

Section 3 The Woman in Blue

H City City "Metropolitan Express" News Center Office.

Lin Qiu sat at his desk, lost in thought. He was a reporter for the newspaper's front page. He had been staring blankly for about 30 minutes, his spirits completely dampened, his head constantly spinning, feeling like it was about to fall off his neck.

Last night's series of terrifying ghostly events kept him awake all night. The horrifying blue skull that suddenly appeared on the bathroom mirror was impossible to wash off, no matter how much he and Bai Yue scrubbed. However, unexpectedly, it disappeared on its own after dawn. Ever since that terrifying blue skull appeared, he and Bai Yue were too afraid to sleep, sitting in the living room in fear and trepidation all night.

Just as he was dozing off, the head of the news department called him over. Someone had tipped off a bizarre murder in a remote rural area of H City. The newspaper's management immediately handed the lead over to the news department, demanding an exclusive story for the front page the next morning. The task of covering this story fell to Lin Qiu.

Lin Qiuqiang roused himself, grabbed his interview bag (containing a digital camera, interview recorder, and other equipment), and rushed out of the newspaper office.
