Kapitel 21

"Come over here." Cui Wuyue waved to me, then turned and led the way inside. I followed her through two doors, and my eyes lit up as I realized that the suite also had a large terrace overlooking a busy street.

"I'm here. What's the matter?" I said cautiously.

Cui Wuyue stood on the edge of the terrace with her back to me, her expression unreadable, and asked, "Are you and Ying Shuo really together?"

Although I was mentally prepared, I still felt insecure when I was actually facing the other woman face-to-face: "Ms. Cui..."

Call me May.

“Miss May, I don’t know what you heard, but I hope you can understand the relationship between WLLSON and me…” I didn’t know what to say. I didn’t know how to confess to someone who was related to me but completely unrelated to me.

"Please leave him, okay? Please leave us, okay? You can have anything you want, as long as you leave Brother Ying Shuo, I'll give you anything in return!"

"I'm sorry, I can't agree to that. I can't leave. I'll only leave if Willson tells me he doesn't want me anymore."

Cui Wuyue's shoulders twitched involuntarily. Suddenly, she stepped over the balcony railing and stood there. The wind was so strong that her white dress fluttered in the wind like a flag.

"May, come back soon!"

She gave a bitter smile, pointed at me, and said, "Don't you know that from the moment Ying Shuo told me that the person he loves is you, I could never come back?"

"No, Miss May, I can leave, I really can leave, I'll leave right now, okay? The one who should leave isn't you, it's me, right?" I shouted anxiously, afraid that I would ruin even May's chances of survival.

Cui Wuyue closed her beautiful eyes and shook her head: "It's no use. You can leave this city or even this country, but you can't leave Ying Shuo's heart."

I was speechless.

Standing by the building, May swayed precariously, like a lily being torn apart by a gale. She slightly opened her eyes and whispered, "Goodbye, Brother Ying Shuo, I won't wish you well."

I sensed something was wrong, and without thinking of the consequences, I rushed forward. May, in front of me, stretched out her arms and leaned back, about to jump off the building. I reached the edge and leaned out, just enough to grab one of her hands. For me, weighing only 40 kilograms, May, at 170 centimeters, was quite heavy despite her thinness, especially since she was determined to die. Even with my hand on hers, she tried to pull away. I held on with all my might, refusing to let go, and shouted at her, "I don't love Lin Yingshuo! You hear me clearly, I don't love Lin Yingshuo!"

This last sentence was more effective; May stopped struggling, looked up at me from below, and questioned me angrily:

"Why? How can you not love someone as outstanding as my Ying Shuo?!"

I was left speechless, both amused and exasperated. This woman was even more difficult to deal with than me: "Actually, I have someone else I like, you know? I've kept this secret because I was afraid of hurting Willson's pride. You know how proud he is."

"You're not lying to me, are you?"

Why would I lie to you? His photo is in my wallet. Come up here and I'll show it to you.

"Is it true? What should we do? How heartbroken Ying Shuo will be!"

"So," I said through gritted teeth, "you absolutely can't just die like this, otherwise who will take care of him and comfort him? You know, he's always only listened to you."

"But what do we do now? Can you pull me up a bit harder?" Hearing this, I knew she wasn't going to die anytime soon, and I breathed a sigh of relief. I tried to pull her up, but then I realized the gravity of the situation: I had used all my strength to hold onto her hand, and to make matters worse, most of my body was outside the building. Not only was I exhausted, but even if I exerted any strength, we would both fall! I broke out in a cold sweat: if I had to give in like this, my carefully hidden savings would be donated to the China Construction Bank. I finally understood the meaning of "regret." I told myself not to panic, and steadied my hand, trying to concentrate my dwindling strength in my right hand. This building was in a busy area of the city center; if we could attract the attention of the people below, we would be saved. "May, do you have anything on that hand? A watch, a ring, anything will do."

"No. I never like wearing these things..." She answered confidently, like a spoiled princess, but it infuriated me—why are you even jumping off a building if you're not wearing anything? My eyes darted around, and I noticed her delicately crafted flat cloth shoes. "May, listen up. Now, gently kick off your left shoe with your right foot. Yes, be very gentle, or we'll both be dead." I tried to concentrate my dwindling strength on my right hand. This building was in a busy area of the city center; if we could attract the attention of the people below, we'd be saved. "May, do you have anything on your hand? A watch, a ring, anything would be fine." "No. Yes, be very gentle, or we'll both be dead." "If you really can't hold on, just let go of me," May said, her hand trembling slightly. "No," I replied decisively. "Whoever lets go will never see Willson again. Listen carefully, I won't let go until you leave that place. If you're going to jump again, I'll have to jump with you. Anyway, your family is rich, so you can take care of all the expenses for the journey to the underworld."

May successfully threw down one shoe, but after what seemed like an eternity, no one came up. I felt like my right hand was about to break. I figured the shoe hadn't hit anyone. So I told May to take off her other shoe. This time, a few moments after the shoe fell, we heard voices below, "Someone's looking up at us!" May's words relieved me. I knew that if we held on a little longer, we'd both be saved. But I was completely exhausted. At first, I was sweating profusely, but now I just felt ice-cold all over, and my consciousness was starting to fade. I knew this was the beginning of my collapse. Meanwhile, May, completely oblivious to the approaching danger, innocently said, "After they rescue us, I'll take you to eat Japanese food, okay? Do you like purple sea urchin sashimi?"

I dared not speak, afraid of wasting even the last bit of strength. I could only command myself with unwavering willpower: hold on tight to that hand, hold on tight to that hand. I don't know if a thousand or ten thousand years passed, but finally, voices came from behind me. I no longer knew who or how we were pulled back, but I kept hearing someone say in my ear, "Let go, let go." Then someone forcefully pried my fingers apart. I was just confused: I had clearly let go, why were they making me let go? Then my world plunged into a silent darkness.

When I woke up, I didn't know what time it was. When I opened my eyes, all I saw was an unfamiliar gray-white ceiling.

"You're awake?" Yin Tianyu's face suddenly appeared in my field of vision—huge and distorted, which startled me.

"What are you doing? Where is this?"

"Hospital."

"How is Miss Cui?"

"Aside from some redness and swelling where you grabbed her, she's fine. I wanted to take her home, but she refused and insisted on waiting outside, saying she wanted to see some photos and then go eat sashimi with you. Hey, what are you two up to?"

I lay on the bed groaning in pain: "God! What kind of woman is this?! I'm her savior, after all! How come she acts like my nemesis?"

What kind of photos do you need?

“At an altitude of thirty stories, half-suspended, I told her, who was completely suspended in mid-air, that she had another lover, and that the photo was in her wallet.”

"How could you lie to her? No one has ever had the heart to lie to her!!!" Yin Tianyu said in surprise.

"How is that possible? No one has ever lied to her before? No wonder she was so easily fooled." I suddenly realized. At first, I thought I actually had some talent for deception, but it turns out my opponent lacked combat experience.

"So what are you going to do now? Lie to her the first time and then lie to her a second and a third time?"

"Then what else? Are you willing to go down to the underworld and pick up my and her hands and feet?"

"No, this is not a solution at all."

I was so annoyed that I wanted to pull the sheet up to cover my face, but when I tried to move my right hand, the pain was so intense that I couldn't use any strength at all. Yin Tianyu held down my right hand: "Don't move it. The doctor said that your hand was overstretched and you can't use it for a while."

I covered my face with my left hand: "Oh my god, isn't this already common knowledge? The company must be buzzing with excitement! Big news! The general manager had an affair with his assistant, and his fiancée, unable to bear the humiliation, jumped off a building to avenge herself. No wonder so many senior colleagues advised us not to date at work."

"It's a real waste of your talent that you're not an editor of a pornographic tabloid."

"You're still making fun of me at a time like this?!" I glared at him angrily.

"Alright, thankfully May called me right away, so no one except the three of us knew the truth and thought it was an accident."

"That's alright," I said, relieved.

"So what are you going to do now? Do you want to tell May the truth?" Yin Tianyu asked.

"How can that be? The hospital floors aren't low, and I can't use my hands at all right now. Are you going to hold her back this time? Whatever, let's just get her under control to avoid any further accidents. But where are we going to find a man?" I said, my head throbbing. Yin Tianyu, seeing my eyes darting around him, screamed in terror, his face contorted, "Don't even think about it!"

When Cui Wuyue walked in, I felt cold sweat pouring out of Yin Tianyu's right hand, which I was holding tightly. I didn't bother to answer him and said to Wuyue with a very convincing shyness, "Look, you don't need to look at the photos in my pocket anymore, the real people are right here."
