Kapitel 60

What exactly happened between him and her? They seem to be hiding things from each other, yet they both seem to know the truth!

Jealousy, yes, he gave a bitter smile, he was jealous! If he were the one who found her, then…

Yi Chunjun stared coldly at him. What was he thinking? The arm around her tightened unconsciously. Luckily, it was him who had searched towards the flower field! If it had been Pei Junwu… He frowned slightly.

If it were Pei Junwu, he wouldn't give her up to him! Even if he became her first man, it wouldn't matter! She was his anyway!

Xiao Yuan was also looking at him. The fleeting loneliness on his calm face made her heart ache, and she felt a little sorry for him.

She shifted, trying to get Yi Chunjun to put her down, but he glared at her fiercely. She glared back at him; he had never experienced this feeling, he didn't understand! The pain of losing a loved one only grows stronger... At times like these, all you need is someone by your side! Just not to feel so alone!

She was luckier than him because she had a master, a senior sister, and a meritorious official. They were noisy and careless, but they still helped her! But Pei Junwu... he had nothing left. Even Xiao Juyuan would leave him because of fate!

She struggled to get down, but Yi Chunjun finally slammed her to the ground in displeasure, rolled his eyes, and gave her a cold, "whatever" look. He then sat down heavily in the seat furthest away from Pei Junwu, making the chair creak as he did so with his superb lightness skill.

She ignored him and sat down next to Pei Junwu.

Perhaps it was because she had changed; looking at him, she felt a sense of calm and acceptance. Her words to him were comforting, but weren't they also sincere? He truly was family! If not a husband, then a brother! His father was her uncle! What she couldn't repay Uncle Pei, she would give back to him. She could give him everything except love and her body.

"you……"

Watching her walk over and sit down next to him, his heart softened. Whatever her purpose or thoughts, as long as she was by his side, that was enough! He took her hand and carefully checked her pulse. Had she coughed up blood again? Why was Yi Chunjun covered in so much blood?

Yi Chunjun smashed the bowls and plates that the maid had just brought him, making a loud noise. He was a bit childish. Xiao Yuan didn't look at him, but her heart was filled with sweetness.

Her injuries seemed to have worsened. He glanced at her; Yi Chunjun must have channeled his inner energy into her. Although her condition was deteriorating, the internal energy she relied on to survive was now abundant.

"How are you?" she asked, looking at him with some concern. "Will I die?" A hint of sadness flashed in her eyes.

“No…no!” he said softly, but with unusual firmness.

Even if she could, he would do everything in his power to save her, even if it meant exhausting his last bit of energy. He wouldn't let her die; even if he did, he would die before her! She didn't have to love him, but if he had to let her die to save himself, and then live to face irredeemable guilt and regret, it would be better for him to die for her.

He gave a bitter smile.

She stared blankly at his smile, that bitter, helpless smile piercing her heart. She used to smile like that too. Watching him with Xiao Juyuan, watching what was rightfully hers being taken away, unable to speak out, unable to take it back.

She silently lowered her head. Fate is indeed cruel; it can bring you great happiness or great pain. Happiness and pain are separated by a mere hair's breadth.

"Are you hungry?" he asked softly. "Now you need to eat more."

She didn't look up, but saw him asking the maid to serve her rice. She glanced at his bowl; only a little rice had been touched.

"All you do is criticize me." She looked at him with a mixture of pity and reproach. "Tomorrow is the seventh day after my death. How can you endure it if you don't eat more?"

Her eyes and words sent a shiver down his spine.

"Smash!" Yi Chunjun slammed down the bowl and walked out without looking back.

Xiao Yuan picked up her chopsticks and filled his bowl with food, saying, "Let's eat together."

Pei Junwu smiled and nodded; the food, which had tasted like dirt, suddenly smelled delicious. "Is he alright?" He turned to look at her.

Whenever Yi Chunjun is mentioned, a look of heartache appears on her face. Although she frowns, her eyes are smiling, a mixture of resentment and love.

After finishing our meal, the golden rays of the setting sun bathed everything in a soft, bright light, making the surrounding scenery appear both bright and gentle, and warming and lightening our hearts.

Xiao Yuan searched all the way and saw Yi Chunjun and Hang Yisu standing by the flowerbed in the back garden, talking about something. Hang Yisu had a cold and stern expression and nodded occasionally. When they saw her, neither of them spoke.

Xiao Yuan secretly curled his lip; another conspiracy!

"Go ahead," Yi Chunjun said casually to Hang Yisu.

"Wait a minute." Xiao Yuan stopped him. "Where are my senior sister and Yuan Xun?" In the few days since she returned, Hang Yi Su had been appearing and disappearing mysteriously. This was the first time she had seen him!

"They're fine." Hang Yisu always seemed a little embarrassed when he saw her.

"Take them to the bamboo forest." She wasn't comfortable leaving them in his hands any longer.

Hang Yisu turned to look at Yi Chunjun, seemingly asking for his opinion.

Xiao Yuan frowned in confusion. How did he control Hang Yisu? Was it because of the gold medal he gave him?

"Go on, we'll talk about these things later," Yi Chunjun said coldly, clearly not taking her opinion seriously. Hang Yisu, as expected, only listened to him, nodded slightly, and flew away.

She glared at him angrily, but he coldly looked into the distance, ignoring her.

"Why didn't you let him bring his senior sister and Yuanxun back?" she shouted angrily.

"He has more important things to do," he said indifferently, still not looking at her.

She had been worried he was hungry because he hadn't eaten, but now she was just angry. She snorted and turned to leave. He didn't stop her, only gave a cold smile.

"Walk slowly, there's no rush to see your Pei Junwu." He said with a sarcastic smile.

Is he jealous? Although she was a little angry, she couldn't help but slightly raise the corners of her mouth and quicken her pace.

Sure enough, he couldn't help but catch up and put his arm around her waist, which hurt a little.

"What did I just tell you?! You've forgotten so quickly?!" he questioned coldly, clearly displeased.

"Right, I forgot—" she said irritably, "At worst, I'll just give you back my inner strength and let me die!" She was being unreasonable.

He abruptly turned her around, his hand gripping her waist so tightly it made her wince in pain. "I should just kill you!" he cursed. This damned little woman, whom he couldn't hit or scold! She could kill him without lifting a finger, and she could infuriate him to death!

Sure enough, when he got angry, she pouted, tears welling up in her eyes. When she looked at him with such a pitiful expression, he felt like vomiting blood. He couldn't be angry, nor could he love her!

He smiled bitterly. If falling in love with someone is so helpless, why do people still pursue it so desperately?
