Gottes Code - Kapitel 8
The five stars shone dimly, and a huge area of the ground cracked open.
The cracks in the ground grew wider and wider, and the cold air was intense.
The phoenix's voice softened, saying, "Big brother, come out! I've broken the seal, come out!"
A creaking sound came from underground, and the cracks in the ground widened again.
A human head slowly rose from the crack, gradually revealing its neck, shoulders, arms, legs, and just before its feet, it suddenly stopped.
Phoenix flicked her sleeve, sending out another burst of energy. The man swayed slightly but remained motionless.
The phoenix was startled and floated to the man's side. He had his eyes closed and his face was ashen. The phoenix felt a pang of sorrow. "Brother, over two thousand years! You've been tortured terribly by them! Brother! I will kill everyone in this world to avenge you! I will open the gates of the Demon Realm and let those high and mighty gods taste what true suffering is! Brother, open your eyes and look at me, brother!"
The person still didn't react.
The phoenix looked down at his feet and realized that he had no feet at all!
Phoenix channeled a bit of its spiritual energy into him, and the man slowly opened his eyes. Upon seeing that it was Phoenix, two clear tears streamed down his face.
Second sister, you've suffered so much these past years! But why did you have to do this to yourself?
Phoenix cried out, "Brother, brother, this is the retribution they deserve! Brother, you have suffered so much."
The man said, "Second Sister, I still can't get out. Your spiritual blood is in the fire's magic, so it can keep fighting against you. Unless it willingly gives up, your plan cannot be completed! Because you are inside it, you cannot kill yourself."
Phoenix roared, "I'll go and kill her right now!"
Bai Ma smiled bitterly, "If you kill her, your soul will also be scattered. Because you two are already united!"
Jin Hui, who was in a daze, suddenly woke up when he heard that they wanted to kill Bai Fang, and shouted, "You can't kill her!"
Phoenix turned around unexpectedly, giving Jin Hui a cold stare. She sneered, "I'm going to kill her. Can you stop me?" Jin Hui's eyes were surprisingly resolute. "You can't kill her!" Phoenix asked. "Why?" Jin Hui didn't speak, only his eyes stubbornly fixed on Phoenix. Phoenix was stunned by his resolute gaze and fell silent for a moment. She turned and walked towards Bai Fang. The white horse called out, "Second Sister, you..."
Phoenix laughed, "Brother, I won't make things difficult for her." With a flick of his sleeve, the coffin opened automatically. Bai Fang's eyes remained closed, her face deathly pale. Jin Hui saw her in the firelight and felt a pang of sorrow. He wanted to rush forward, but after taking only two steps, he felt himself being pinned down by a powerful force and unable to move.
Bai Fang heard the noise and slowly woke up. Seeing Jin Hui like this, she was filled with both sorrow and joy, and two streams of tears rolled down her cheeks. To be able to see the light of day again was already an extremely unexpected surprise.
Phoenix was also extremely hesitant at this moment, not knowing what to do.
The five stars in the sky twinkled, and one of them seemed to shine brighter.
Bai Fang sensed something, looked up at the sky, her eyes blurry with tears, and glanced at the people around her. The drummers had also stopped beating and stood there, stunned.
No one spoke; there was a deathly silence, with only the flickering flames.
The white horse called out softly, "Second Sister!"
Phoenix moved swiftly and arrived in front of the white horse, calling out, "Brother, do you have something to say?"
The white horse said, "These are our fates. Don't make things difficult for them. Let them go!"
The phoenix cried out in a fierce voice, "No! I do not believe in fate!" Its face was ferocious and terrifying, resembling a vengeful ghost.
Bai Ma smiled bitterly, "You have no choice but to believe me. What can we do now? God, I can't do anything about it!"
The phoenix's voice grew increasingly mournful. "No, elder brother, it's been over two thousand years! Elder brother, we've been separated for over two thousand years! Elder brother, ever since I learned the truth, I've been filled with remorse, constantly thinking of rescuing you. Now, finally, such an opportunity has arrived—five stars shining brightly in the sky simultaneously, a once-in-a-millennium chance! If we refine these five, we can simultaneously open the gates of the Demon Realm and the God Realm, plunging the world into chaos! I want the entire world destroyed! Only in this way can I quell the hatred in my heart!"
The white horse's voice gradually faded. "Second sister, what we long for is to stay together forever. What does it have to do with these people? Only one person harmed us. Why seek revenge against everyone? Besides, if the whole world is destroyed, we will have nowhere to live. When will this cycle of revenge end? Second sister, after more than two thousand years of imprisonment, I have long lost my competitive spirit and my desire for revenge. I only wish that if one day I can regain my freedom, I will find a quiet place and live a free and unrestrained life with you, far away from all strife."
Phoenix also heard this and tears streamed down her face. "Big brother, big brother," she cried, gradually breaking down in sobs.
The people nearby, freed from the phoenix's magical restraints, gradually awoke.
The five people walked together, with Bai Fang standing in the lead, staring intently at the white horse and the phoenix.
The starlight twinkled, as if it had briefly lit up.
The black fog in the sky has also thinned somewhat.
Everyone remained silent, watching the white horse and the phoenix.
Phoenix wiped away her tears, sat down with her knees drawn up to her chest, and stared blankly at the sky.
The sky was cloudless, windless, and moonless, with only five inconspicuous little stars emitting a faint light.
Still, silence.
A silence more terrifying than death.
Bai Fang and the others could hear each other's hearts pounding rapidly. Although Phoenix didn't make any move, the five of them were still so nervous that they were sweating profusely.
Phoenix kept staring blankly at the sky. Bai Fang couldn't help but move slightly. Phoenix immediately turned its head and glanced at them. Fearing that it would cause unnecessary trouble, Bai Fang had no choice but to stop moving.
After a moment of stalemate, the white horse called out softly, "Second Sister?"
Phoenix's shoulders trembled, and two more streams of hot tears rolled down her cheeks.
She gently stroked the white horse's pale, thin face, and then burst into tears.
Seeing this, Bai Fang felt pity but dared not be presumptuous. She whispered, "Sister, is there anything I can help you with?"
Phoenix glanced at Bai Fang, somewhat surprised, and said, "You... don't hate me?"
With tears in her eyes, Bai Fang said, "Sister, I can tell you must have suffered greatly to end up like this. It's understandable that you resent the world after being treated unfairly. Although I don't know what happened to you, from what my elder brother said, I can tell it must have been extremely tragic."
She wiped away her tears and said, "Sister, if there's anything we can do to help you, just tell us, and we'll definitely do it."
Seeing this tragic scene, the other four exchanged glances and said, "Yes, if God has truly wronged you, we will risk our lives to help you get justice!"
Phoenix sneered, "Is it really true?" She closed in on Bai Fang, her sleeves billowing as she prepared to strike!
Seeing that Fenghuang was about to attack Bai Fang, Jin Hui cried out in alarm and stepped forward to shield Bai Fang. Bai Fang, however, did not move. Seeing Jin Hui's actions, she stretched out her arm to block him, not wanting him to take the blow for her.
Upon seeing this, Phoenix lowered his sleeves, his eyes filled with surprise and uncertainty, a complex mix of emotions swirling within him, as if recalling many long-forgotten events.
He raised his sleeves high and then gently lowered them, saying, "Alas, I didn't mean to make things difficult for you! But, in order to rescue my elder brother, I had no choice. Now, my elder brother, my elder brother..." A tear welled up in his eye.
The crowd felt a pang of pity, and those who were sensitive were moved to tears.
Bai Fang mustered her courage, stepped forward, grabbed Phoenix's sleeve, and asked, "Sister, what's the secret behind this? Can you tell us?"
Phoenix turned to look at White Horse, who smiled bitterly and said, "These things, if we talk about them, will only make them angry. It's better not to talk about them!"
Phoenix said, "My brother told me not to talk about it, and I don't want to talk about it anymore! It's just that this matter is stuck in my heart, and it has made me feel bad for years!"
It turns out that the white horse and the phoenix had been cultivating together in the mountains, absorbing the spiritual energy of heaven and earth and the essence of the sun and moon. Over time, they developed profound magical powers, and feelings blossomed between them. They didn't desire to become immortals; they only wished to spend their days together. One day, the peacock arrived in the mountains. After some twists and turns, the three became sworn siblings, with the white horse as the eldest, the phoenix as the second, and the peacock as the third. However, the peacock, secretly in love with the white horse, harbored malicious intentions. Taking advantage of the two's unpreparedness, she used a treacherous scheme, forcing the white horse to wander among the mortals. Just then, a plague swept through the land. The white horse, unable to bear the suffering, wanted to help. The peacock, however, deceived the phoenix, using her silver tongue to persuade her to descend and rid the people of the plague. The phoenix, having completely forgotten her past, took the white horse's words as mere sophistry, mistakenly believing him to be the culprit of the plague, and banished him to the earth.
Phoenix, at this point, burst into tears again, saying, "I'm the one who killed my elder brother..."
Bai Fang then asked, "So how did you recall this past event?"
Phoenix wiped away her tears and said, "More than a thousand years ago, I was reincarnated. Now that my soul has been purified, the peacock's restriction has naturally disappeared. Only now do I remember this past. When I think of my beloved elder brother suffering in the underworld for more than two thousand years because of my mistakes, I am filled with regret!"
Then, didn't you have a chance to save your elder brother before? When we descended to the mortal realm, why didn't you tell the Heavenly Court the truth?
Phoenix laughed bitterly, "Do you know who the Peacock is? She can control everything, and I was originally helpless against her! It was just a coincidence that five stars shone brightly today. If we could gather the five elements, we could destroy everything and rescue my elder brother! So, I lied to the Heavenly Court, requesting that they send the five of you down to help me subdue the demon. To prevent you from noticing anything amiss, I deliberately sealed your magical powers for today's mission. But man proposes, God disposes. That little bit of spiritual blood from that day has prevented me from completing this plan! Watching my elder brother suffer helplessly, unable to save him—do you know how deep that pain is?"
Phoenix spoke while tears streamed down her face, and by the end, blood was flowing from the corner of her eye!
Those who saw it couldn't bear it and lowered their heads.
Bai Fang suppressed her grief and indignation and said, "Sister, tell me, how can we rescue Brother Bai?"
Phoenix asked, "Are you really willing to help me?"
Everyone answered, "Our purpose in coming down here is to subdue demons and eliminate evil. Since the real evil is the peacock, we have no reason not to help you rescue Brother Bai!"
Phoenix laughed sadly, "This is just my opinion. Do you really trust me?"
Everyone fell silent. Yes, is that really the truth?
Bai Fang hesitated for a moment and said, "Sister, although we can't see how things happened that day, we can all see the affection between you and Brother Bai. However, sister, I also want to ask you for a favor. If we rescue Brother Bai, could you please not make things difficult for the people here?"
Phoenix said, "It was not my intention to make things difficult for you, the students, and the people. In fact, I am the one who has wronged you. These things have nothing to do with my elder brother. I did it all. If you can help me rescue my elder brother, I will do whatever you want with me!"
The group exchanged glances. From beginning to end, the white horse hadn't done anything wrong, and although the phoenix had done some things, it hadn't taken any lives. If it could just stop making things difficult for the people, then so be it! But the peacock's behavior was truly infuriating, and they might have to confront her sometime soon!
After thinking it over, the five of them said in unison, "Sister, tell me, how can we rescue Brother Bai?"
Phoenix's worried face broke into a smile again, and she said, "Thank you!" White Horse also showed a relieved expression.
Seeing that dawn was approaching, Phoenix cried out, "Hurry! If we miss tonight, who knows how long it will be before we can rescue my elder brother!"
The five people set up the formation as shown on the Five Elements Formation Diagram, and the formation was exactly the same as the arrangement of the five stars in the sky!
The five of them silently chanted in their hearts, and a faint light gradually emanated from their bodies.
As the five stars shone brightly, five thin silver lines descended.
The starlight grew brighter and brighter, and the five silver lines connected with the light emanating from the five people!
Phoenix chanted a spell, and the five people spun around simultaneously!
A creaking sound was heard from the ground, and the white horse's entire body was revealed on the ground.
Phoenix rejoiced, "That's fine!"
Then she rushed over and hugged the white horse. The white horse lay weakly in Phoenix's arms and cried out, "Second sister, we are finally together!"
The five people quietly surrounded Phoenix and White Horse, silently watching this couple who had suffered so many calamities.
Phoenix suddenly remembered something and said to Bai Fang, "The souls I captured can now all go back. Also, your grandfather's soul was scattered by me, but I will save him now. As for his brothers, I will have them reincarnated! Thank you!"
So they got busy again, restoring everything that had been disrupted to its original state.
The ghosts who had wandered in foreign lands for decades all came to say goodbye. Hu Chengtian was extremely excited and wanted to go back to his hometown to see his brother and sister-in-law before being reincarnated.
Bai Fang asked hesitantly, "Sister, what about the hundreds of people who died that day?"
Phoenix said, "That was the work of that demon. I can't do anything about it now, but once my brother recovers, he will definitely settle the score with Peacock. At the same time, he will also find that demon and avenge the hundreds of innocent people who died!"
It was already broad daylight.
The waking people looked at the cobwebs covering the room with suspicion, completely baffled.
The campus, and the entire city, have returned to their former vitality.
Everyone returned to their original positions. Jin Hui came to say goodbye to Bai Fang; he was also going back. The vacation was over, and it was time to go back to work.
Bai Fang smiled and waved, watching Jin Hui drive away. It started to rain, and Bai Fang felt that it was going to rain in the sky as well. She quickly lowered her head, turned around and left.
