Kapitel 23

The sudden light forced his eyes to well up with tears, which swirled around them as he lowered them, as if he were about to shed a tear at any moment.

Fu Mingxu squinted, still not used to the light. His eyelashes trembled slightly, and water droplets condensed and slid down from the corner of his eye.

The "tears" just happened to fall onto the back of the hand at the waist.

Like the hottest magma in the world, it burned the back of my hand; like a thunderclap from the sky, it startled Han Tao from his bewitching state.

Previously torn between a hazy state of mind and a clear head, Han Tao, driven by instinctive desires, finally realized what he had done.

"You cried?" The person behind me asked, their voice trembling with regret and self-reproach.

Fu Mingxu was taken aback, then realized that he had misunderstood.

But instead of explaining, he blinked repeatedly, and the remaining few "tears" fell down.

My hand was burned instantly, and I instinctively let go.

Feeling the tightening of the restraints around his waist, Fu Mingxu seized the opportunity and hurriedly pulled away.

As he turned around, before the mist had even dissipated, his gaze fell on the teeth marks on the other person's chin.

To be honest, the teeth marks on his chiseled, rugged face were quite funny.

But Fu Mingxu couldn't laugh at this moment, and even his questioning words were stuck in his throat. His expression became extremely solemn, and the mist in his eyes almost froze.

"You've fallen to demonic possession?" he asked slowly, his voice dry and strained, as if squeezed from his throat.

The demonic flames were faintly visible between his brows, and the outer rings of his golden eyes were stained black. What else could this be but a symptom of demonic possession?

In an instant, he seemed to return to the scene when the world was about to collapse. Han Tao stood coldly in the sky, looking down at everyone as if they were ants who did not know their own mortality. His expression was extremely indifferent.

A feeling of panic crept into Fu Mingxu's heart. After a moment of realization, he subconsciously rubbed the corner of his eye, even hoping that he had misread it.

"Don't cry." Han Tao's voice was a little strange, hoarse from being dry for a long time. He reached out to Fu Mingxu, wanting to wipe away the remaining tears from the corners of his eyes.

Fu Mingxu turned his head slightly, dodging his movement.

“I didn’t cry,” he said, his eyes lowered, seemingly filled with resistance.

The cold, damp place before him felt mysterious and dangerous to Fu Mingxu, who was afraid that allowing it to touch him would once again trigger that hot and sensitive sensation.

But the other person acted as if they hadn't heard him, stubbornly insisting, "You cried."

His chin was forcibly pinched up, and Han Tao forced him to look up at him. His other hand pressed the rough fingertips against the corner of his eye, wiping away the remaining moisture.

Fu Mingxu's gaze fell on the black and red demonic flame pattern on his forehead. When he saw the black in his eyes, he felt a sudden pang in his heart, as if all his efforts over the past few days had been completely in vain.

"You've really fallen to demonic possession?" He paid no heed to Han Tao's actions, his eyes swirling with intense emotions. "Why?"

That one glance made Han Tao pause in wiping away his remaining tears, and a thought arose in her mind that he was about to abandon her.

The thought had barely crossed his mind when it caused him excruciating pain in his dragon soul, as if two forces were tearing at each other within it.

The look of pain on his face appeared and disappeared in an instant, but Fu Mingxu saw it clearly.

Han Tao suddenly released his grip, staggered back two steps, and began to vomit blood under Fu Mingxu's astonished gaze. The demonic flames on his forehead began to flicker, seemingly struggling to emerge from under his skin.

"You don't want me anymore." He stared intently at Fu Mingxu, his eyes flashing violently, the blackness in his pupils trying to seep further in. "You're gone. You don't want me anymore."

Fu Mingxu carefully observed his expression, which grew increasingly serious.

Is Han Tao insane because he's possessed by a demon? Did he become possessed by a demon just because he wanted to leave?

Rather than that, he prefers to believe that his act of leaving triggered some unspeakable pain within him.

Perhaps it was the dragons' abandonment of him when he was seriously injured that hurt him, causing him to be exceptionally perceptive now.

It really is a sickly and sensitive dragon.

Fu Mingxu squatted down, pressed two fingers together against Han Tao's Adam's apple, and as the other man's eyes widened and he made a strange "gurgling" sound, he stuffed a pill into his mouth. Then he pinched it between his fingers, and Han Tao swallowed it without warning.

"Heh." Fu Mingxu chuckled lightly, then said viciously, "It's poison. You'll bleed from all seven orifices and die soon."

Han Tao was stunned for a moment, but when he realized what had happened, he wasn't angry. Instead, he said, "I made you cry. I deserve to die."

He felt a burning pain on his dragon soul, and his gaze toward Fu Mingxu was filled with undisguised longing, as if he wanted to etch him deeply into his heart.

She even dared to say, "Before I die, I want to..."

He whispered his desire, then closed his eyes and waited for the gift to arrive.

Fu Mingxu was stunned by his shamelessness. He responded with a loud slap and a roar that was almost a roar: "You won't die! You stand still!"

"Heh." Seeing him suddenly open his eyes, he sneered and stepped back, saying sarcastically, "I think you're not going to become a demon, you're going to go into heat, aren't you?"

He was so angry he almost fainted. He should never have come back!

Han Tao was stunned by the slap to his face. His tall body trembled, and after he came to his senses, he stood still with the five-finger mark on his face.

“That’s an exorcism pill.” Fu Mingxu was glad he had prepared in advance and said irritably, “If you’re sick, you should get treatment. What kind of man hides in this forbidden area?”

As he finished speaking, the demonic flames on Han Tao's forehead began to fade slowly, and the blackness outside his pupils instantly disappeared, leaving only a pair of golden eyes that shone with a natural, cold light.

Fu Mingxu crossed his arms and began to ask, "Alright, now tell me what happened?"

He had made up his mind. Han Tao hadn't completely fallen into demonic possession yet, so there was still a chance to save him, though it would take a bit more effort.

But he wasn't afraid of putting in the effort.

Han Tao took two steps forward, closing the distance between them once again. Looking at that familiar face, he asked, "Why did you come back?"

Why did you come back? Why did you come to save me?

Fu Mingxu hadn't expected him to be such a stubborn dragon. After going back and forth, he was driven to his wits' end by him. He glanced at him disdainfully and said arrogantly, "I came back to slap you."

Is that okay?

The lamplight was warm and yellow, and the two rows of lit animal-shaped candles extended all the way behind Fu Mingxu. His chest heaved more violently than usual, as if he had been so angry that he collapsed.

They are exceptionally vivid and adorable.

Han Tao felt his body inexplicably starting to ache, and the burning sensation on his face from the slap mark had not yet disappeared, so he dared not think too much about it.

“Of course.” The space between the two of them made him feel good. “It was my fault. You can hit me again.”

This is like slapping the left cheek and then offering the right cheek to slap you back.

Fu Mingxu didn't understand, but he was shocked. He was once again convinced that becoming a demon would make Han Tao's skin thicker.

He swallowed back the sarcastic remark he wanted to make, feeling frustrated that their minds were never on the same issue.

Forget it, it looks like we won't be able to have a normal conversation today.

It would be better to practice more demon-repelling pills after we get out, or find some higher-level demon-repelling pills; that would be much easier than it is now.

Having made up his mind, Fu Mingxu forced a smile: "Go out first, I'll go out and refine pills for you."

To everyone's surprise, Han Tao shook his head upon hearing this.

Fu Mingxu was shocked: "What do you mean by this?"

Did he intend to lock himself in here? He suddenly remembered what the man had done to him in the dark and flew into a rage: "Don't even think about it!"

Now, it was Han Tao's turn to be completely confused.

After another unsuccessful attempt to communicate, Fu Mingxu was in a terrible predicament. However, something even more troublesome happened next.

Before the two could break the awkward silence, a sudden earthquake shook the ground, and the beast-shaped candles on either side fell to the ground in disarray.

"Hold me tight," Han Tao suddenly said.

What kind of outrageous and inappropriate words are these?

Before he could speak, her waist was wrapped around again.

Fu Mingxu subconsciously struggled and pushed, but the strength that restrained him did not loosen in the slightest.

Han Tao felt as if he were on fire from being rubbed against him, and his deep voice fell: "Don't move, the Dragon Clan's forbidden area is about to collapse!"

Is it going to collapse? Fu Mingxu froze, seeing huge rocks crashing down from above. Instinctively, he grabbed Han Tao's waist and shouted, "Run!"

Although he felt really unlucky, he couldn't afford to be sentimental at this critical moment; saving his life was the most important thing.

The grip on him tightened once more. Han Tao was incredibly fast; whenever he thought the boulder was about to smash into his head, he would swiftly and accurately dodge it in the next instant.

Behind them, huge rocks crashed down with a thunderous roar.

Han Tao held him tightly, and when she lowered her eyes, she could see his dark hair flying in the wind.

The two quickly passed through the tunnel where the boulder had fallen. Fu Mingxu slowly breathed a sigh of relief, and only when he relaxed did he realize that something was wrong behind him.

Having just weathered the crisis, he didn't think too much about it, only asking in confusion, "Did a small stone fall on you? It's really prickly."

Han Tao had just emerged from the tunnel when he heard this, and his breath hitched. The two of them plummeted straight down.

With a splash, the two fell into the water.

The scream was stuck in his throat. Fu Mingxu choked and swallowed two mouthfuls of water before his swimming function automatically activated. He kicked his legs and swam smoothly in the water.

After kicking twice, he belatedly realized that Han Tao was gone.

Such a big person?

Fine, bubbling bubbles rose from Fu Mingxu's mouth and nose, clearly visible in the clear water.

He swam for two more breaths, and a string of bubbles rose from his mouth.

Suddenly, his waist tightened, the water above his head was forcibly broken by an external force, and a force lifted him up.

With a "splash," the suffocating feeling of being surrounded by water instantly dissipated, and a bright light shone before his eyes. Amidst the splashing water droplets, Fu Mingxu's feet landed firmly on the ground again.

Once he regained his footing, his waist felt relaxed.

With a "rip," the ordinary waistband finally gave way under the strong pull, breaking in two and falling onto the grass.

Fu Mingxu glared at the culprit, just in time to see water droplets dripping down his hard jawline, which he casually flicked away, adding a touch of wild handsomeness to his movements.

A gust of wind blew by, and the two of them sneezed simultaneously.

Half an hour later, the two warmed themselves by a fire in a dry cave.

As the warmth returned to his body, Fu Mingxu straightened his clothes, and after they were completely dry, he tore off a strip of cloth from the hem and tied it loosely around his waist.

"Are we still in the forbidden area?" he asked after a moment of thought.

Han Tao shook his head: "Not here."

Fu Mingxu gasped, his brows furrowing: "I can't open the storage bag, and I can't summon the dragon flame from my dantian."
