Kapitel 7

Faced with this scene, I suddenly felt a sense of emptiness and bewilderment. I asked myself, wouldn't it be wonderful to achieve immortality through this? But another voice was vehemently denying it, saying that while immortality is good, life would be so mundane. Just think about how many known and unknown fairies in legends have married mortals.

A perfect life is one filled with emotions, desires, pain, and joy.

Reply [13]: Chapter Six Reunion

My parents just called to say they are packing their things at their house in Wuxi, Jiangsu, and are preparing to go home. They will arrive tomorrow afternoon to attend the annual Luo family autumn ancestral rites.

They also told me that they bought some gifts for my girlfriend Xiaoyue in Wuxi and hoped that I could take her with me for a while, because it was rare for my father to come back to his hometown and he wanted to see his future daughter-in-law. If possible, they would like to take Xiaoyue with them to the ancestral hall in my hometown town to pay respects to their ancestors.

In reality, they were indirectly acknowledging Xiaoyue's position within the family and clan. Several years ago, they were already urging me to find a girlfriend, get married, and give them a healthy grandson.

My father has been based in Wuxi for many years, dealing in dried bamboo shoots and other agricultural products. His business has grown bigger and bigger, and now he has opened several branches in various counties and cities in Jiangsu Province, and has also established a bamboo shoot industry association in Ruli County. In recent years, my mother has often been by my father's side, partly to help him manage the business, and partly to keep an eye on him to see if he is "doing anything wrong." It is a well-known truth that men become bad when they have money, because my father did indeed make such a mistake during a social gathering one year. My father is an adventurous and very casual person, but he always has a sense of propriety.

My mother was the typical gentlewoman from a modest family. To me, she was the embodiment of beauty, elegance, and virtue. Throughout my childhood, she taught me to be a good man, to keep my promises to the person I love, and to be responsible for my family.

Perhaps it is these two extremes that have shaped my personality today: somewhat eccentric yet pursuing inner perfection.

Upon hearing this news, I was filled with mixed feelings of joy and worry. I was happy to see my parents; it would be a lie to say I didn't miss them. But I was worried about Xiaoyue, fearing she wouldn't come. After all, she was the leader of a sect, and she was shy and sometimes incredibly stubborn.

When I called, the person who answered was none other than Xiao Fugui, the cult leader.

It turns out that Xiaoyue's home is in the most beautiful villa in Xiaojia Lane; the top floor of the three-story building belongs to them.

Xiaoyue is the Holy Maiden of the Xiao Clan, transcending worldly affairs. She is rarely at home and usually either hides in the Linshui Palace on the outskirts of town to cultivate or goes out to help the weak and righteous. She will only appear if it is a matter within the sect or if the charlatans of the Xiao Clan really encounter some evil spirit that they cannot solve and ask her for help.

Chief Xiao said that Xiaoyue went out this morning and will not return until tomorrow. He will personally tell Xiaoyue when she returns.

Then, I turned around and saw the state of my home, and I couldn't help but get a headache. For months, no one had taken care of the house, and now I had turned it into a complete mess.

Fortunately, it was Sunday, and Xiaoling and her team were having a gathering in my study, so I got them to do a thorough cleaning.

“Teacher, you know, we live in a market economy now—well, although we’re all happy to help you clean, it takes half a day just to mop the floor and wipe the windows of such a big house. You have to give us something in return to reward our young hearts!” Xiao Hui said with a sly grin, rubbing his little hands together.

"How could you say such a thing? You know how good the teacher is to us! We run and jump around here all the time, eat and drink, and at least half of the mess in the building is caused by us. It's only natural for us to help the teacher clean up! And you still have the nerve to make demands," Xiaoling said angrily.

Jing'er stood firmly on Xiao Ling's side.

"Hey, old squad leader, our requests aren't unreasonable, so don't get too worked up! Besides, teacher, you wouldn't be so petty, would you? Oh?" Pearl took advantage of the situation.

Upon hearing this, I was furious. Who was it that rescued them from the clutches of the Ear Bird in the first place?

However, looking back on the scene, it was quite amusing: When Zhu'er, Xiao Hui, and Director Chen and his wife woke up in the cave and peeked out through a narrow opening to see the paradise on earth, they found me standing on a high rock. The moonlight, like water, reflected on my face, radiating a sacred and compassionate glow. My white robe flowed gracefully, making me seem like a celestial being descended to earth. Later, they told me that when they first saw me, they felt an urge to kneel and worship.

It's only been a week, and you've already forgotten your savior! But looking around, I sighed, snorted, and said, "Fine, I give up. Tell me your demands, but don't go too far!"

When Xiao Hui saw that I wasn't arguing with them like before, he immediately scratched the back of his head and said embarrassedly, "Actually, I was just joking. But there's something I've wanted to ask you to agree to for a while now. Our basketball team is going to have a friendly match with Class 3(5) next Thursday, so we'd like to use the self-study period tomorrow and the day after to practice."

I see. I immediately agreed.

Zhu'er then quickly said, "I want to ask the teacher to tell me the truth about 'Peach Blossom Spring'! I don't believe that what Xiaohui and I saw in the cave on the day of the autumn outing was a hallucination, and why we were unconscious for two days and two nights, and why even Miss Ghost was trapped in the ghost bag and couldn't get out. This is definitely not what you said that day about being poisoned by some cave miasma. I have checked the information, and there is no way that miasma exists here!"

Miss Ghost immediately appeared, looking at me with curiosity and nodding repeatedly. After being a ghost immortal for so many years, this was the first time she had ever stumbled.

I was at my wit's end, but since there were no outsiders present, and they were the parties involved, they had the right to know the truth. There was no need to hide anything from them. So, I told them the whole story of the Ear Bird, the Nine Heavens, and the Peach Blossom Paradise.

Sure enough, they were so shocked that they couldn't speak for a while.

"So Tao Yuanming himself visited the Peach Blossom Spring, but why didn't he live there?" Xiaoling asked.

“Tao Qian was a poet. Only with feelings and love can one write good poems. If you throw everything away, can you still be considered a poet?” Zhu’er said thoughtfully, which greatly surprised me. I never expected that Zhu’er, who was always so carefree, would have such insightful thoughts.

Reply [14]: After a day of cleaning, the room is clean and bright.

As I sat enjoying tea in the bright and clean room, Xiaoyue called.

"Sword Heart!"

"Xiaoyue!" I gasped for breath with joy, swallowing hard before I could continue, my voice trembling. "I... I long to see you, Xiaoyue, where are you?"

For some reason, when I heard her voice, my face turned red and my heart pounded wildly, yet I felt like crying.

“I know. I sensed your call and came home early. Fugui told me about your situation.”

When I stammered as I was about to explain the significance of this meeting with my parents, she said very calmly and decisively as soon as I opened my mouth, "Kenshin, I'll come to see you tomorrow morning so we can pick up your parents at the station together."

This unexpected joy made me overjoyed; I never imagined things would go so smoothly.

Next, in a relaxed and happy mood, I talked to her about my time in Peach Blossom Paradise, about the strange appearance of the Ear Bird, about everything that happened at school, and about the funny things that happened when I was tormented by that group of naughty kids, including how I was coerced by Pearl and the others today.

Xiaoyue listened quietly, and when she mentioned something interesting, she would just smile gently, which made me feel like I was falling into the clouds and into a honey pot, filled with infinite tenderness and sweetness.

I kept talking on and on, listening to Xiaoyue tell me about Xiaofeng's embarrassing deeds, about how she caught a strange spirit. It was concise, but enough to pique my interest. I followed her words to the very end, as if I wanted to repeat every detail of what she did in front of me, to make myself feel as if I were right next to her.

Time flies by, and when I hung up the phone, it was already dark. I suddenly realized that I didn't know how much I had said, what I had said, or how it ended. I realized that when you are with someone you love, conversation is just a formality; what really matters is the fusion and tenderness of your hearts.

That night, I was so excited that I almost couldn't sleep. I had to use the "Five Elements Escape Technique" that Xiaofeng had secretly taught me to invent to bless myself before I could drift off into a sweet dream.

The next morning, I was in math class.

My courses have always been a headache for students, but they have to study hard because they are an important indicator of whether they are happy – I am their homeroom teacher, and I have a lot of power over their lives.

Among my students, Xiaohui has the best math score. Although I haven't seen how he studies, he is very quick-witted. Xiaoling is the most hardworking and diligent. Every time I ask a question, she is always among those who raise their hands.

Today was the most difficult class I've ever had. Xiaoyue's beautiful image and every word she said kept flashing through my mind.
