Red satin - Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Suddenly, the two black sedans overtook him, forcing Ke Liang to the side of the road. His face turned pale, and when he saw the license plates, he suddenly pulled open the car door and jumped out without thinking. However, the person in the black sedan was faster; a hidden weapon flew out and hit Ke Liang directly in the face.

Ke Liang covered his face and squatted down. He saw the man pounce on him, wielding a weapon and hacking at Ke Liang, who was crouching on the ground, clutching his head.

Qin Jin rushed forward like a madwoman, shoving the man aside and protecting Ke Liang. But when she saw what was happening, she was stunned. The woman who hit Ke Liang was a beautiful woman, around forty years old, very pretty, with a pair of big, blinking eyes looking at Qin Jin.

The hidden weapon and murder weapon used to attack Ke Liang were nothing more than a pair of red high heels.

The pitiful Ke Liang stood up and, through Qin Jin, called out to the still-angry beautiful woman, "Mom."

The word "Mom" startled Qin Jin.

This fierce woman is actually Ke Liang's mother!

"Mom, how dare you call me Mom? How many days have you been absent from the company? Have you been playing around while your dad is abroad? How could our Ke family have such a spendthrift son like you? All you do is act like a ghost every day. I told you to work at the company, but you wouldn't listen. Now you've been gone for three days and even hit the security guard I sent!" The beautiful woman cursed without uttering a single stutter.

Ke Liang, the company, the spendthrift son—Qin Jin's mind was buzzing.

At this moment, an assistant behind Ke Liang's mother handed over a cell phone. The beautiful woman said, "Hello, I am the wife of the chairman of Feihong Group. The meeting this afternoon will proceed as scheduled, no problem."

Feihong Group? The largest conglomerate in the city. Ke Liang is a spendthrift from there?

That idiot hoodlum, that charlatan who pretends to be a ghost every day, is actually the richest young master in the city!

When Ke Liang saw his mother, he looked like he had seen a ghost, and his whole body went limp.

"Listen carefully, you're going home tonight, or you'll see what's really going to happen!" the beautiful woman warned Ke Liang.

The beautiful woman walked up to Qin Jin, looked him up and down for a while, then nodded and said, "Not bad, the person who dared to push me, Nalan Jing, is definitely not simple. Alright, you will be our daughter-in-law!" After saying that, Nalan Jing strode away, leaving two dumbfounded people standing in the center of the crowd.

The atmosphere in the car remained tense, with only Ke Liang and Qin Jin remaining silent.

Qin Jin suddenly said, "You're lying to me!"

"No, I already said that ghost hunting is just a side job for me."

"But you've never even seen a ghost, and you're still lying! Is that funny?"

Ke Liang looked at Qin Jin's ashen face, gritted his teeth, turned the steering wheel, and drove onto another road. The car veered further and further off course, eventually ending up in a deep mountain, a cemetery filled with graves.

Qin Jin began to tremble, holding Hei Bao, and followed the silent Ke Liang as they walked unsteadily through the graveyard.

Finally, Ke Liang stopped in front of a grave. The photo above showed an old man with a white beard, smiling mischievously; his name was Ke Dao.

Qin Jin suddenly remembered that Ke Dao was Ke Liang's grandfather.

"Your grandfather?" Qin Jin stammered.

"Yes, this is my grandfather. When I was a child, my parents were busy making money, so I lived with my grandfather. We had a very good relationship. My grandfather was a famous Taoist priest. When I was a child, I thought being a Taoist priest was the most amazing profession. I always wanted to be a Taoist priest."

Ke Liang looked very sad.

“But my father was a businessman and refused to let me learn to be a Taoist priest from my grandfather. Moreover, my grandfather said that I should have a more respectable job and refused to teach me. Later, my grandfather died, but I insisted on inheriting my father’s business and becoming a businessman, which I never liked.”

Ke Liang's vulnerability has a kind of infantile helplessness.

"But I've always wanted to be like my grandfather, an outstanding exorcist: catching ghosts and saving people. I was really happy to meet you, thinking I could help you, but now I realize I have no skills at all."

Feeling bad, Qin Jin gently patted Ke Liang's back.

Ke Liang covered his face and ran away.

Qin Jin stood there blankly, wondering if she had hurt someone with dreams. Just as she was feeling guilty, Ke Liang returned with two shovels.

"What are you doing? Why do you need a shovel?"

"Nothing much, just digging up graves."

Whose grave are we digging?

"Of course it belongs to my grandfather."

Qin Jin looked at Ke Liang to make sure he wasn't crazy.

"Why would you dig up your grandfather's grave? I'm not a grave robber!"

"Because when Grandpa died, Dad took all of Grandpa's books with him as funerary offerings. Those were books about how to catch and fight ghosts. If we had these books, we could learn them ourselves."

"Ghost hunting? You can learn that on your own?"

"Give it a try! There's no other way now! Dig. My grandpa knows I'm bothering him to save people, he won't blame me."

Watching Ke Liang take the first shovelful, seeing his childlike smile, Qin Jin smiled too. She silently recited a prayer and then began digging.

The project was enormous, and as dusk approached, the two men, drenched in sweat, lost track of time. Just before nightfall, they reached the coffin. With great effort, they opened it and saw a pair of wide-open eyes. They stumbled back a few steps; Ke Liang's grandfather, Ke Dao, was smiling down at them.

Ke Liang mustered his courage and went forward to touch his grandfather. He was cold and had been dead for a long time, but his eyes were not closed.

He beckoned Qin Jin to light the torch and come forward. Although Ke Dao did not look fierce, Qin Jin was still a little scared, while Ke Liang was heartbroken. His grandfather, who had been buried for many years, had not rotted at all and looked like he was asleep.

Qin Jin felt a chill run down her spine and quickly reminded Ke Liang to take the book and leave.

After taking the book, Ke Liang noticed a unique earring on his grandfather's ear. The earring was very beautiful and exquisite; Ke Liang had often touched it when he was little, and he decided to take it off as a keepsake. Just as he removed the earring, a strong wind suddenly arose, and Hei Bao screamed and jumped into Qin Jin's arms.

Qin Jin was sweating profusely, and Ke Liang was trembling. He pulled her towards the car. As they ran, the torch fell, and the two could only hold each other's hands tightly, running wildly along the path in the moonlight. Fortunately, they finally saw the car. They ran to the car, said nothing, opened the front door, and jumped in.

However, Hei Bao continued to scream and jumped up, lunging backward.

The back door seemed to be pulled open by something, then slammed shut. The two men turned around simultaneously. There was nothing there. Ke Liang gritted his teeth, stepped on the gas, and sped away.

Both of them knew there was something behind them, but neither dared to make a sound. Qin Jin could only hug the cat, sweating as he laughed and said to himself, "The scenery here is really beautiful. We'll come again next time."

Ke Liang turned on the car radio, hoping to listen to music to ease his tense emotions. However, as soon as he turned on the radio, he heard a child crying.

The clear sound of crying echoed in the car. Qin Jin turned off the radio, but the child's crying continued to linger. Upon closer listening, they realized it was coming from the back seat.

The road ahead seemed endless, and they should have been on the main road long ago, but they were still winding their way through the mountains. It was too late to read Grandpa's book, and Ke Liang was at his wit's end.

Just as they stepped on the gas and sped forward, Hei Bao had already jumped to the back seat. The child's cries and Hei Bao's shouts mingled in the car, while Ke Liang seemed to see the main road and rushed forward.

A figure appeared ahead. Ke Liang yelled and slammed on the brakes. The car slid to the side, the child's crying stopped, and the view ahead turned into a cliff. If it weren't for that slam on the brakes, the two of them would probably be smashed to pieces.

The figure saved them, but there was a cliff in front of them, so there couldn't be any other figure there. It must have been a ghost!

Still shaken, the two looked out the window to see if they could find their "savior ghost." Ke Liang then forced a smile and said, "Don't I look handsome now? Did you scare me with your hairstyle?"

Qin Jin had no choice but to look at Ke Liang, but her face showed an expression of extreme terror, the kind of expression only someone who has been terrified to the extreme would have.

Her gaze wasn't on Ke Liang, but rather on the car window behind him.

Ke Liang also realized something and slowly turned around. He finally understood why Qin Jin was so scared. He saw a person standing outside the car window who looked exactly like him.

Nothing is more terrifying than seeing yourself through a car window!

The two were huddled together when they saw the face outside the window gradually getting closer to the glass. Sure enough, it was Ke Liang's face, just like Ke Liang looking in a mirror.

The car door slowly opened, and Ke Liang squeezed in. Hei Bao, however, quickly jumped to the front and pounced into Ke Liang's arms, curling up gently in a ball.

Qin Jin and Ke Liang were almost scared to death. They desperately pushed the car door, but the car was already closed and they couldn't get out.

Ke Liang said, "Those two reckless fools dared to break into Baoshan at night and almost lost their lives, you know that?"

Seeing that he meant no harm, Ke Liang perked up and asked, "Who are you?"

“I am your grandfather.”

"I'm still your ancestor!" Ke Liang retorted angrily.

The man was also unhappy. He hit Ke Liang and said, "You stole my earrings and woke me up. By the time I chased after you, you had already been led here by evil spirits. If I hadn't chased them away in time, you two would have been dead long ago. And you still call yourself my ancestor."

It turned out that he had saved two people.

Qin Jin was a little polite: "Are you really Ke Liang's grandfather? But why are you so young!"

"I'm a ghost now! Am I supposed to have a full white beard like a ghost? That wouldn't be cool, would it?"

"Grandpa, are you really Grandpa?" Ke Liang exclaimed excitedly.

"Of course, I looked exactly like you when I was young. Wasn't I handsome?" Ke Liang's grandfather turned around and asked Qin Jin.

Qin Jin was no longer afraid. Under the light, he carefully examined the young grandfather and found that he looked very much like Ke Liang, except that he was not as handsome as Ke Liang.

Grandpa finally saw Qin Jin's face clearly and screamed, "Junior Sister!"

While everyone was still in shock, Grandpa suddenly disappeared.

Qin Jin and Ke Liang were both stunned. What had happened today was too surprising, but they still drove the car back to the main road.

The road home may seem long, but it's actually not difficult.

Chapter Twelve: Tomb Raiding (1)

It was already past midnight when the car arrived in the city. After dropping Qin Jin off at home, Ke Liang went to see his mother with an expression of impending doom.

Ke Liang's mouth, which never seemed to close, finally fell silent.

Today he met his grandfather, who was just as handsome as him, and he was about to meet his mother, who was a million times fiercer than his grandfather. Even Qin Jin felt sorry for him.

After returning home, Qin Jin fed Hei Bao, sat down at her computer desk, and turned on her computer. So much had happened these past few days; she wanted to sort it all out. The computer screen lit up, and out of fear, she turned on all the lights in the house. She opened a document and began typing, recording everything that had happened.

Words can clear a person's mind, and the events slowly surfaced in her head: Why was the female ghost haunting them? Was it merely because they both used red satin? Why would red satin bring out a female ghost? What exactly was the origin of that red satin? Why was Old Lady Hu suddenly frightened away by that female ghost? Was that female ghost really that terrifying?

Shishi's whereabouts are unknown, and the souls of Lanqi and Yingqi have already fallen into the hands of the female ghost. What's most inexplicable is that now there's another Ke Liang's grandfather, and that old man calls himself junior sister!

There are just too many wonderful things in life, Qin Jin frowned.

Time ticked by, and it was already 12:15 AM. Qin Jin wasn't sleepy at all and was still busy at her computer. She suddenly remembered that when the old woman Hu was scared away by the female ghost, she cried out "Crack!" Was that "Crack" a cry of surprise or did it have some other meaning?

So she frantically typed various combinations of "卡卣" into Google, unsure which two characters it was. Finally, she found it on a Hong Kong website using Traditional Chinese characters. The Google search result stated: "卡卣 is an ancient curse, a demon's curse, an omnipotent curse, the most terrible curse."

Qin Jin had a strange feeling, as if she shouldn't have clicked on this webpage, but she couldn't resist her curiosity and finally clicked on it anyway.

As soon as the webpage opened, the screen started flickering randomly. After a few flickers, everything went black.

I've never heard of a virus shutting down the power.

The computer slowly restarted, and the lights seemed to have been turned off. Qin Jin panicked, picked up her phone from the table, and checked the time; it was already 1:29.

I just read a lot of ghost stories online, saying that 1:30 AM is the most gloomy time of day, and that if you look in a mirror at this time, you'll see the reflection of any evil spirits around you. Qin Jin quickly placed the mirror face down on the table; even if there were ghosts, she wouldn't have to scare herself by seeing them. The computer restarted and was loading. Just as it was loading, the time on her phone went to 1:30 AM. The computer screen didn't load; instead, it became blurry. Qin Jin thought it was a virus and started staring at the keyboard, trying to find a solution.

There was a figure inside, and that figure gradually became clearer—it was himself. Yes, it was himself.

Qin Jin's computer screen transformed into a bright mirror, clearly reflecting her surroundings. Panic began to grip her; she didn't know what to do. Everything around her was dark, save for the faint glow of the computer screen illuminating her reflection.

She desperately tried to shut down the computer and cut off the power, but it was no use. The screen still turned into a mirror, and the mirror still clearly reflected her terrified face.
