Ten Years of Warm Words - Chapter 28

Chapter 28

You Ran curiously took it and saw that the word "Master" was clearly written before Qu Yun's number.

"What a terrible name!" You Ran said, dissatisfied.

“It matches your name in my phone,” Qu Yunyou explained.

You Ran snatched Qu Yun's phone, opened it, and found that her number was preceded by "Kitty".

“You’re not the same as usual.” You Ran hugged her arms and jumped away, keeping three meters away from Qu Yun.

Qu Yun smiled, a smile that was downright beastly.

Of course, he's an extremely handsome beast.

Back at Qu Yun's house, since neither of them knew how to cook, they could only order takeout.

After eating and drinking her fill, You Ran obediently went to clean up the dishes. When she came out of the kitchen, she found Qu Yun sitting on the sofa, holding a remote control and changing channels.

His fingertips, softly white, possessed a masculine elegance that made one envious of the buttons on the remote control he touched.

He was wearing a white shirt with a grey trench coat over it, covering his long legs, and exuding a low-key British style.

Seeing this, You Ran shot into Qu Yun's arms like a bullet, curled up her legs, closed her eyes, and curled up her lips like a satisfied cat.

Qu Yun gently stroked the area where You Ran's chin and neck met, the movement soft and comfortable, allowing her to enjoy it leisurely.

"Have you missed me these past few days since you haven't heard from me?" You Ran asked.

"It's alright." Qu Yun gave his usual ambiguous answer.

"If one day you can't contact me anymore, will you worry?" You Ran asked.

"You'll know when that day comes," Qu Yun replied as always.

A very long TV series was playing on the television, and everyone in it was either shouting at the top of their lungs or slapping each other.

After listening for a while, You Ran suddenly said, "Qu Yun, it seems that we have never explained our past to each other."

Qu Yun changed the frequency with which he tickled her: "Is this important?"

“I don’t know either, but… Qu Yun, have you ever liked anyone in the past?” You Ran asked.

“I love my family,” Qu Yun said.

"Besides family?" You Ran asked.

Qu Yun remained silent.

You Ran didn't force her: "If you don't want to answer, then forget it."

"Why are you suddenly asking this?" Qu Yun asked.

"Because I want to tell you... I once liked someone, really, really liked someone," You Ran said.

"What happened next?" Qu Yun asked.

"Later, I found that things were different from what I had imagined. Very different," You Ran said. "So, we broke up."

"But are you very sad?" Qu Yun asked.

“Yes, so heartbroken… to the point of risking one’s life,” You Ran said.

“I thought…you were someone who had never experienced setbacks,” Qu Yun said. “Because you were always smiling.”

"Because what happened afterward were all happy things. I got into university, I ate and slept all day long, and I met you. These were all happy things, so I smile," You Ran said.

“You are easily satisfied.” Qu Yun’s nails were neat and smooth, gliding across the delicate skin of You Ran’s neck. “Just like the cat I keep.”

"Tell me about your cat," You Ran said. "Go ahead and tell me."

“I found it. One rainy day, it was squatting in front of my front door, seemingly abandoned by its owner. It was cold and hungry, its fur soaked and clinging to its skin; it looked very thin,” Qu Yun recalled slowly. “When I passed by, it let out a soft whimper, very timidly, as if it had mustered all its courage. I looked at it; it was huddled up, its light blue eyes looking like it was about to cry. But it still looked at me, looking down at me. I took it home, and it seemed to know it was dirty, refusing to go onto the carpet.” It just crouched in the corner, shivering. I wiped the dirt off it with a towel, fed it milk, and after everything was done, it carefully came to the sofa, slowly crouched against my chest, its tail curled up around its body, and fell asleep like that. After that, it stayed at my house, very well-behaved and obedient. Sometimes when I forgot to feed it, it wouldn't make a fuss, just wait quietly until I remembered. Its favorite thing to do was lie in my arms... just like you are now. I originally thought it would stay with me forever..."

"Unfortunately, it ate too much and died later." You Ran recalled, "That's what you told me last time."

"Yes, let's just leave it like that." Qu Yun's voice was slightly muffled.

You Ran felt there was something in those words that she didn't understand, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

"Did you meet that person you liked again?" Qu Yun changed the subject.

“…No.” You Ran lied; it was an unconscious act.

"So, you've forgiven him?" Qu Yun asked.

"I don't know, maybe it's still hatred," You Ran said.

“I think you’ve forgiven him, because you don’t look like you’ve been hurt. There’s no hatred in your eyes,” Qu Yun said.

"Maybe it's because I'm more easygoing; I don't dwell on the past," You Ran said.

"...But many people can't accept this." Qu Yun's voice became indistinct for a moment.

You Ran suddenly leaned close to Qu Yun's cheek, rubbing her nose against his, her eyes smiling: "Hey, why aren't you jealous this time? It's making me feel strange."

"Do you enjoy seeing me jealous?" Qu Yun asked.

"Although you're troublesome like that, at least it shows that you care about me." You Ran continued to stroke Qu Yun's nose, cool and firm.

Qu Yun reached out, supported You Ran's head, and gently placed it against her chest.

"What do you want?" You Ran asked leisurely. "Do you want me to hear if your heartbeat is normal?"

“For a while I was very busy with my studies and neglected the cat, but it never showed any anger or sadness. Instead, it would quietly jump up to me when I was resting, rest its head on my chest, and look very content... I think maybe my chest has a calming effect.”

"Why...why did you make me do this?" You Ran asked, her face touching Qu Yun's cotton shirt. It felt comfortable, without any irritation.

“I can’t help you with the past… but at least I can offer you a chest to lean on now.” Qu Yun’s hand stroked You Ran’s hair, his palm filled with a soft, smooth touch.

As she listened to his voice, her eyes, touching the cotton fabric, unexpectedly became moist.

An uncontrollable, sudden, sour, yellowish, and moist feeling welled up in You Ran's eyes.

Qu Yun's fingers seemed to possess a magical power, flowing silently along You Ran's hair, gently comforting her.

She didn't explain to him what had happened, and he didn't pursue the matter, but she felt wronged and comforted.

And so, under Qu Yun's caresses and accompanied by Qu Yun's heartbeat, You Ran gradually fell asleep.

Just before falling asleep, You Ran realized that Qu Yun, this big block of ice, wasn't as cold as she had imagined.

This was the tenth lesson Qu Yun taught her—ice sometimes needs to be melted.

[Lesson 11] Rewards are given occasionally.

For the first time, You Ran fell asleep on Qu Yun's chest, and the feeling was indescribable.

From then on, You Ran, having tasted the marrow, became addicted and unable to stop, clinging to Qu Yun's chest like a maggot attached to a bone.

You Ran began to understand those men who were obsessed with large breasts.

Of course, every time You Ran came to Qu Yun's house, she brought her CET-6 English review materials and had a high-sounding reason: the dormitory was too noisy and she couldn't study.

So every night, Qu Yun would lie on the sofa to review materials, while You Ran would sit cross-legged on the carpet to study. Sometimes when she got tired of studying, she would move Qu Yun's arms aside, lie on him, and close her eyes to rest.

Even during breaks, he kept talking, always asking questions.

There's something I've always found strange.

"What?"

"You said you and...my brother were college classmates. Does that mean you also graduated from a military academy? Then why are you working as a counselor?"

Did I say I graduated from military academy?

"You didn't graduate? Why? Did you break some rules?"

Guess?

Qu Yun is like this most of the time; she never gives a direct answer to a question, unless it's a sarcastic remark. And when it comes to that, she goes all out.

If asked any further, Qu Yun would change the subject.

Have you gained weight recently?

"Hehe, you noticed? I've been eating a bit more lately because my clothes have been covering up my flesh."

"If you keep getting fatter, don't lie on me anymore."

"Qu Yun, I doubt you're a man."

"What a coincidence, I also suspected you weren't a woman."

"At this point, you should have said it's okay, being a little chubby and round is cute, how could you give such a hurtful answer?"

"I have hurt your feelings, but if you keep getting fatter, it will hurt my heart, liver, spleen, lungs and kidneys."

"Is it really necessary to go to such lengths? It's just pressing down a little."

As soon as he finished speaking, Qu Yun nimbly grabbed You Ran, rolled her on the sofa, and the two of them spun around.

Qu Yun didn't look fat, but his bones and muscles made You Ran feel like she couldn't breathe.

"Do you feel good being suppressed like this?" Qu Yun asked.

You Ran could only beg for mercy, and only then did Qu Yun release her.

This led the conversation to other topics.

“Yun, you…”

"This way of addressing me makes me want to throw you out the window."

"Okay, let's try another one, Yunyun... okay, I won't call you that anymore, just don't leave me!!!"

She escaped from the window and, using all four limbs, continued to lie on Qu Yun's chest: "Qu Yun, have you ever liked anyone?"

“I remember you asked this question before.”

But you didn't answer.

"Then how can you be so sure I'll answer now?"

"..."

You Ran rested her chin on Qu Yun's chest, her fingers tracing down his smooth forehead, teasing the tip of his nose.

"I just want to know what you look like when you're passionately in love."

Why would you have this idea?
