Eternal Night - Chapter 162
It turns out that the first person she saw when she was dressed as a woman was Feng Yangxi, not him.
Although she changed into women's clothing when she got married, she wore her usual moon-white dress, leading him to believe that she still cared for him.
"Lord Moon Valley, may I come closer and speak to him?" Yongye asked Yuepo with a grin. That politeness easily created a sense of distance.
Yuepo smiled and stood at the door without moving. "Of course, but don't go too far. Don't forget, you'll be my wife tomorrow. No matter where your hand touches him, I'll rip the flesh off that spot."
"Hey, Yongye, please don't hurt me, stay away from me."
Yongye chuckled as she approached, "It's nice to marry a jealous husband. Although it sounds scary, it feels really good to have him care about me."
Feng Yangxi looked at Yongye and chuckled, "You're marrying him again tomorrow?"
Yongye said leisurely, "You're such a troublemaker! I was going to marry Prince Yan the day before yesterday because of you, and I'm going to marry the Valley Master of Moon Valley tomorrow. Who are you to me? Do I need to marry for you? I've come to see you so you can know whether I'm really going to marry for you."
Her intuition told her that four people were sitting in the next room, all of them experts. She raised her hand to gather a stray lock of hair, and a thin bamboo tube slid down her hand into Feng Yangxi's palm. Whether what Huihun said was true or not, she had no choice but to try. Her internal energy was gone, but her hands were still just as skillful.
Yongye frowned and said, "Have you been poisoned? You're like a sick cat, not at all like a renowned hero."
"It's the Dissolving Power Powder, otherwise what would I be lying here for? Aren't I powerless?" Feng Yangxi sighed, her eyes as sharp as ever. "I don't care about that. I only care about whether you can tell? Did you marry someone for my sake?"
Her brows furrowed deeply, as if the question was difficult to answer. After thinking for a while, Yongye sighed, "After all, you've saved me many times. The Valley Master of Moon Valley said that regardless of whether it's for you or not, I have to marry him. Having another reason won't hurt, it'll be good for you to remember my kindness."
She stood up, turned to look at Yuepo, and said, "Let's go."
Yuepo smiled, walked to her side, and took her hand, saying, "I thought you would rush up to him, cut your wrists and skin to feed him your blood to detoxify him."
Yongye rolled her eyes at him. "Can it really be solved? How could you tell me so easily?"
"Of course, but you're not that stupid. Why would you do something you know you can't do?" Yuepo said, suddenly twisting Yongye's hand. Feng Yangxi's expression changed. Yongye's fingers and wrists were as white as jade, without a single wound.
Yongye was in so much pain that his face turned pale, but he laughed and said, "It's a pity there's no Blood Spring here. I believe that Blood Spring Dissolving Power Powder is much more effective than my blood."
Yuepo stared at her, his eyes revealing a sadness and fear. He slowly released her hand and smiled, "Your hand is beautiful and skillful; I can't bear to break it." He turned to Feng Yangxi with a smile, "Please invite Hero Feng to have a drink tomorrow. You have saved Xinghun many times, and I am very grateful."
Moon Soul embraced Eternal Night as they walked out of the room, carefully closing the door behind them.
Feng Yangxi closed his eyes, placed his palm against the thin bamboo tube, and grinned.
Soul scattered
The waning crescent moon illuminated the valley town. Transparent gray clouds obscured the moonlight, casting hazy shadows that made the place appear so dim. But the stars shone brightly, like lamplight, dazzling and radiant.
Yongye gazed at his reflection in the bronze mirror and clicked his tongue in admiration. He smiled and said to the four maids, "Your hands are so skillful; the more I look at myself, the more beautiful I become."
"Miss was originally a beauty of unparalleled grace."
Yongye stood up, took two light steps, and her magnificent crimson dress rippled like waves on a lake. "Actually, walking is really inconvenient. You have to be patient, you can't rush, and you can't take a big step. That's how you walk like a cat, five inches to the left, five inches to the right, and a little wiggle of your hips." She murmured to herself, gliding to the door like a drifting cloud.
Yuepo also donned a bright red outfit, washing away his previous indifferent demeanor, making his handsome face even more radiant.
He waved his hand. The maids in the room curtsied and took their leave.
"You're just as beautiful as I imagined. Only, not as active as a bride. You should sit here and wait for the banquet to end so I can lift your veil." Yuepo smiled. If nothing unexpected happened, she would be his. Yet, an invisible wall stood between them. Even with everything arranged, he still couldn't have her. He hoped that moment would be delayed. Just being able to see her a little longer would be good enough.
Yongye blinked and said, "Didn't we say we were going to host a banquet for guests at the restaurant?"
"That's a man's business. I'll come back to lift the veil after I've had the wedding feast with the neighbors and Master Feng. Come on, go back and sit down to wait." Yuepo helped Yongye to sit on the bedside, his eyes fixed on her. A wave of sadness washed over him. He personally covered her face with the red veil. The moment the silk cloth fell and covered her face, Yuepo's smile vanished. He wouldn't be the one to lift the veil for her. No matter how much he wanted to.
"What kind of medicine did you give me? It's even more effective than the legendary acupressure." Yongye asked Yuepo through the veil.
“You wouldn’t understand even if I told you. There are so many magical herbs in this world, with so many variations and combinations. This only temporarily numbs you. Sit for a while, and I’ll be back,” Yuepo said softly, slowly backing out of the house. The eternal night before her seemed shrouded in a red mist; she couldn’t see him. Yuepo’s heart trembled, and almost impulsively, he stepped forward, lifted her veil, took her hand, and took her away across mountains and rivers.
She wouldn't go with him. Between them was Rose, a beautiful girl who had once been as delicate as a spring flower, always calling him "Brother Moon" with a smile.
He should have realized when Rose died that he had lost his Star Soul forever.
Yuepo trembled as she closed the door.
The door closed, and firecrackers were already going off in the town below the hill. Faint laughter drifted on the wind.
Yongye focused her mind and breath, and with a slight movement of her hand, the life-saving steel wire slowly slipped from her palm. She moved it little by little with great difficulty, as if fighting off a muscle-relaxing drug in a valley, stimulating her nerves and using pain to relieve the numbness.
The door creaked open. She didn't move, and asked coldly, "Who is it?"
Through the veil, she saw a pair of thin-soled soap boots.
“He really wants to marry you…” Mo Yu’s voice was extremely desolate. “He imprisoned Mother just so he could marry you.”
Yongye laughed: "What, I've even lost my internal energy? You should be able to rest assured that I'm your sister-in-law. How could I possibly defeat him?"
Mo Yu murmured, "Mother has been waiting for you. I kept it from her for so long, I am truly unfilial." As he spoke, he picked her up, glanced at the room decorated with festive cheer, and tears welled up in his eyes. He didn't care about Yue Po and left quickly.
The town's restaurants were packed with guests. Birchwood tables were pushed together to form a large table, on which were laid out dishes personally prepared by Chef Chen, the former head chef of the Peony Garden in Kyoto.
Feng Yangxi sat at the end of the long table.
When Yuepo strode in, beaming with pride, Feng Yangxi's eye twitched. Yongye hadn't come with him. Not seeing anyone, Feng Yangxi couldn't rest easy.
Amidst the congratulatory cheers, Yuepo walked to his side and raised her wine cup: "It is my great honor that Hero Feng could come to witness this ceremony."
Feng Yangxi took a sip of his drink and laughed, "Where's the bride? Is she hiding because she's shy?"
The people around them joined in the commotion, clamoring to see the bride.
Just like any ordinary wedding, there were people here who were clamoring to make a ruckus in the bridal chamber, and their shouts were quite loud.
Yuepo laughed and said, "I'll offer you all a toast. Let's finish the drinks before we start making a ruckus."
