Qiao Anchen opened the refrigerator, took out a bottle of frozen coffee, and then the footsteps grew closer and closer. He actually walked over and sat down next to Chu Yi.
A damp, fragrant scent of shower gel wafted in, followed by the sound of a bottle being opened. Qiao Anchen tilted his head back, took a sip of coffee, and then his gaze fell on the television screen in front of him.
"What are you looking at?" he asked. Chu Yi slowly turned her head and gave him a puzzled look.
"What's wrong?" Qiao Anchen raised an eyebrow slightly.
"It's nothing." Chu Yi turned her head back and continued to stare at the TV. Then, her flat voice came out and she announced the name of a TV series that Qiao Anchen had never heard of before.
He wasn't too surprised, since he hadn't watched any of the TV series before.
Qiao Anchen sat there, keeping her company as she watched the show intently.
This seems to be a period drama, but the dialogue and costumes are very unconventional, giving it a feeling of being neither ancient nor modern.
The female lead, in particular, wore a long, wide-sleeved ancient-style dress, but the fabric was so thin that the sleeves were transparent, exposing her collarbone and arms. Although she had a very feminine appearance, her speech and posture were incredibly rough.
Moreover, the male lead is also strange; when he's with the female lead, he always seems inexplicably weak.
Qiao Anchen frowned involuntarily. This strange feeling in his heart was not resolved until later, because a voice-over suddenly appeared in the otherwise peaceful scene, and it turned out to be a strong male voice.
He took a full three seconds to confirm that this represented the female protagonist's inner thoughts.
Qiao Anchen stood there dumbfounded, and Chu Yi kindly explained it to him.
"The female protagonist is a time traveler. She was originally a man, but she was struck by lightning and turned into a woman, so she was devastated."
Qiao Anchen: "..."
He was also on the verge of a breakdown.
He recalled the previous scenes where the female lead had pinned the male lead down, lifted his chin, and other intimate moments.
Now tell him it was actually two men?
Qiao Anchen was stunned and unconsciously swallowed.
Chu Yi spoke up again, considerately, "If you can't bear to watch, don't force yourself. Go back to your room and rest."
"..." He decided to take a break first.
"I'll go wash some fruit for you." Qiao Anchen got up decisively and walked towards the kitchen.
Chu Yi watched his retreating figure, her lips curving into a smile. But upon realizing it, she quickly suppressed her urge, hugged her small pillow tightly, and continued watching the drama with a look of amusement on her face.
Qiao Anchen washed some fruit and came back, then watched TV with her intently. For some reason, towards the end, although it was still quite ridiculous, he actually found some enjoyment in it.
Qiao Anchen thought to himself with a bittersweet smile, "This is for the best; time won't be so hard to endure."
The two sat together peacefully, occasionally exchanging a few words about the plot. After watching a few episodes, Chu Yi glanced at the time and realized it was getting late, so she yawned and felt sleepy.
"I'm going to sleep now, do you want to keep watching?" Chu Yi asked. Qiao Anchen reluctantly turned his gaze away, then shook his head vigorously.
"Then I'm going to sleep too."
"Okay." Chu Yi nodded, got up, turned off the TV, and went back to her room. When she reached the door, she stopped and looked at the person behind her.
"Go to sleep if you want to, why are you following me?"
"I, um..." Qiao Anchen stammered for a long time before finally raising his eyes and looking at her with some expectation.
Can we sleep together?
"No," Chu Yi said expressionlessly.
At home, there's no habit of locking the door on the first night of the lunar new year. She trusts each other's character; living under the same roof, there's bound to be basic trust.
However, Chu Yi realized that she had misjudged Qiao Anchen after all.
I must have gone to bed early last night, because when the short alarm clock rang in my ears, I woke up from my sleepiness.
Qiao Anchen released her and got out of bed very quietly. Chu Yi was stunned for a few seconds before she realized that he had come to her bed again last night.
Chu Yi felt a tightness in her chest with nowhere to vent her anger, because Qiao Anchen had already gone to the bathroom to wash up. She rolled around on the bed a couple of times, preparing to settle the score with him when he came out.
With her eyes closed, she soon became drowsy again. It was still too early, not yet the first day of the Lunar New Year. In her half-awake state, she seemed to hear a noise.
Just as Chu Yi was about to open her eyes, her cheek was touched. It was soft and warm, and the touch lingered for several seconds.
This time, no one spoke in her ear. Qiao Anchen quietly closed the door and went out.
Chu Yi opened his eyes.
...
Chu Yi was a little restless that morning and couldn't get into the flow of his drawing. He kept checking his phone, and there were still a few messages from Qiao Anchen in the chat box.
Just like yesterday, it was pretty much the same routine: reporting my daily whereabouts to her, then rambling on and on like a monologue, dull and boring.
Chu Yi's fingers traced the screen, but a smile unconsciously crept into his eyes.
That night, Qiao Anchen sat next to her as usual, watching that melodramatic time-travel drama with her. But he was able to pick up on the plot from the previous night and watch it smoothly.
Chu Yi observed him closely and discovered that Qiao Anchen was actually watching with great interest.
Chu Yi found it hard to accept, fearing that she might influence Qiao Anchen and turn him into a strange person.
Fortunately, not long after, he started looking at his phone, seemingly engrossed in something.
Chu Yi silently breathed a sigh of relief.
Before long, the two people on TV were kissing passionately, and flower petals, seemingly out of nowhere, began to fall from the sky. The male and female leads embraced and spun around, creating a beautiful, romantic, and somewhat childish scene.
Qiao Anchen suddenly handed over his phone and said, "I've selected a few places suitable for a honeymoon. Take a look and see if there's any you particularly want to go to. If not, I'll look for more."
Chuyi: "?"
She looked at Qiao Anchen with a shocked expression, her eyes wide.
"What? Don't you like any of them?" Qiao Anchen withdrew his hand, somewhat puzzled, and was about to look again carefully.
Chu Yi realized what was happening, swallowed hard to compose herself, and found her voice again.
"Why did you suddenly decide to go on a honeymoon..."
Chu Yi couldn't even utter those three words anymore; she'd never seen a married couple, married for a year, talk about going on their honeymoon together...
“We haven’t gone yet, have we?” Qiao Anchen looked at her innocently and matter-of-factly.
The two stared at each other for a moment, then Chu Yi composed herself, sat up straight, and put on a stern face.
"I don't want you to force yourself."
“Not at all, not at all.” Qiao Anchen immediately shook his head, his eyes sincere and earnest.
"This is what I should do as a husband."
Author's note: It will get sweeter slowly, I swear!
The next chapter is about going on our honeymoon, hehe!
Still eighty red envelopes~
35. Chapter 35
Chu Yi stared at him for a full minute before confirming that Qiao Anchen was serious. She paused, then said, "Aren't you supposed to be very busy?"
“I applied for annual leave. Although there were some twists and turns, it has been approved by the higher-ups,” Qiao Anchen replied. Chu Yi thought for a moment and then asked.
"Does your boss agree?"
"I disagreed at first, but later I agreed."
"Why?" Chu Yi asked curiously. Qiao Anchen hesitated for a moment, but still answered honestly.
“I told him that my marriage was in jeopardy because I was too busy with work.”
Chu Yi barely managed to suppress her laughter; she forced a tight smile and gave a blank "oh."
Seeing this, Qiao Anchen immediately moved closer and placed the phone in front of her.
"Is there any place you'd particularly like to visit?"
...
After much research, Chu Yi still couldn't resist the trend and chose a honeymoon destination.
--Bali.
This season seems perfect for a trip to the beach. Sunshine, sandy beaches, coconut trees, and endless blue waters—a simple stroll hand-in-hand with your loved one would be a truly poetic experience.
Looking at the pictures above, Chu Yi couldn't help but feel her heart flutter. Her secret thoughts, which had been deliberately suppressed deep inside, could finally surface, and she could unrestrainedly dream about things she had never dared to imagine before.
The two quickly booked their flights and hotels, and until the day they actually set off, Chu Yi still felt like it was all a dream.
The air in Lancheng was slightly cool in the early morning of June. Chu Yi was wearing a light green tank top and shorts, with a long cardigan over it, a large sun hat, and sunglasses for sun protection.
Qiao Anchen was pulling two suitcases, wearing a short-sleeved shirt and casual pants, and a pair of white shoes that matched hers. He looked very young.
After a long flight, the two finally arrived in Bali. As soon as they got off the plane, they were greeted by a wave of heat, and the wind that came into their faces carried the smell of the sea. The sky was as blue as a clear mirror.
We took a taxi directly to the hotel. When Chu Yi opened the door, the view from the sea-view room was excellent. The large bed in the center was soft and comfortable, making one want to jump on it and roll around in it.
Chu Yi kicked off his shoes and pounced on it, rolling around on it several times.
"Ah...that feels so good!"
The girl's short tank top was rolled up in the movement, revealing her white waist and belly. Qiao Anchen looked at the person who was frolicking on the bed and suddenly regretted not bringing her out earlier.
Because it seemed like something that could make her very happy.
After the initial excitement subsided, she calmed down, found her slippers in her suitcase, and began packing.
Although the long flight didn't consume much physical strength, it left her feeling extremely tired. Chu Yi took a shower and felt a little better, so she decided to take a nap first.
Qiao Anchen had no objections, but he hesitated as he looked at the sky outside, which was nearing dusk.
"Shall we set an alarm for half an hour and then go eat?"
"Half an hour isn't enough..." Chu Yi muttered as he tidied his pillow, "At least an hour."
"Okay." Qiao Anchen didn't say anything more, just lifted the blanket and lay down next to her.
He reached out to hug Chu Yi without hesitation, but she dodged him. She huddled under the covers, only her bright eyes peeking out, looking at him innocently.
