Scarlet Rain Overwhelms the City - Chapter 26

Chapter 26

The carriage has stopped.

Murong Yin was dressed in a bright yellow brocade robe, dazzling and noble. Under the golden sunset, a serene and radiant light flowed between his brows.

He turned around to face the white curtains that obscured the interior of the carriage, his voice carrying a gentle warmth that could melt ice and snow, "Miss Lotus, please forgive Murong Yin's abruptness."

He stretched out his long, slender hand and slowly lifted the white curtain.

Lotus sat upright in the car.

Her fingers seemed to clench nervously, and beneath her long, black hair, her fair and delicate face wore an expression of unease. She subconsciously raised her watery eyes to look at Murong Yin, who was lifting the curtain for her.

Murong Yin looked at her.

He smiled, a warm smile that silently dispelled her unease. "Lotus, this is our home."

A neat and simple courtyard.

A pond where lotus flowers bloom in abundance, with a crescent-shaped, winding bridge spanning it. The evening breeze embraces you, and the courtyard is filled with the fragrance of lotus blossoms, a refreshing and delightful aroma that soothes the soul.

"This is my Qingfeng Garden."

Murong Yin pointed out the elegant pavilions and terraces to Lianhua, saying, "From today onwards, you will live here. If you need anything, you can tell me, and I will take care of you."

Lotus nodded.

He led her forward, pointing out the blooming lotus flowers to her. In the pond under the bridge, there were even some very rare golden lotuses.

This is the lotus of Jiangnan, standing tall and graceful, its beauty dazzling, elegant and pure.

Lotus gazes at the pond full of lotus flowers.

She paused for a moment.

"Thirteenth Brother!"

A loud voice suddenly came from behind Murong Yin and Lianhua.

They turned around.

A boy with bright eyes, dressed in crimson, strode up from the other end of the small bridge. He looked anxious. "I knew you were back when I saw Yuan Qing, Thirteenth Brother. Did you find Xiao Ci?"

He spoke quickly, with a touch of impetuosity.

Murong Yin's expression darkened slightly, and before he could speak, the young man had already seen the lotus standing beside Murong Yin, and his eyes brightened even more.

"Is this Xiao Ci? Xiao Ci—"

Before Lianhua could reply, he grabbed her hand, tears welling in his eyes. "Xiao Ci, do you still recognize me? I'm Hua Chen, your..."

The boy with bright eyes was so happy that his fingers trembled.

He was as naive and impulsive as a child.

Lotus's face turned pale.

She took several steps back, trying to avoid Hua Chen, but Murong Yin had already reached out and rescued Lianhua from Hua Chen's ardent gaze.

"Hua Chen, she is not Xiao Ci."

Hua Chen looked up, "Isn't she... Xiao Ci?"

“I’m sorry, I haven’t found Xiao Ci yet,” Murong Yin’s eyes deepened with sadness. “Her name is Lianhua, and she is an orphan girl that I rescued.”

Hua Chen first looked at Murong Yin in a daze.

He then turned to look at the lotus flower.

Those bright eyes no longer held the eager anticipation, but rather a deep disappointment... which slowly... transformed into a barely suppressed anger...

He looked like he was about to get angry.

Lianhua opened her eyes wide, bit her lip, and stood timidly beside Murong Yin, subconsciously clutching his bright yellow sleeve.

Hua Chen's expression turned ugly, and a cold smile appeared on his lips. "Well, you, as the older brother, didn't find your long-lost sister when you went out, but you brought your sister-in-law into the house first."

Murong Yin knew his cousin Hua Chen's volatile temper very well. He hesitated for a moment, then said, "Hua Chen, Lianhua is also an orphan with no one to rely on..."

Hua Chen didn't wait for him to speak and turned to leave.

Murong Yin stepped forward, looking at his impulsive cousin with concern, "Hua Chen."

Hua Chen walked straight ahead without turning his head. "Xiao Ci is my betrothed. If you, as her older brother, don't care about her life or death at all, I'll go find her myself."

The other side of the small bridge.

Hua Chen's angry figure quickly disappeared.

Murong Yin looked in the direction he left, his handsome face showing a helpless expression, and he gently furrowed his brows, which were as clear as distant mountains.

A small hand silently tugged at his sleeve.

Murong Yin looked at her.

Lotus carefully observed every expression on his face, her anxiety like that of a vulnerable child. "Did I... cause you any trouble?"
