Capítulo 2

Yang Ke, who had just reached the bottom of the stairs, was bumped aside by Ye Xun, who rushed down from upstairs. When he turned around, Ye Xun had already disappeared into the crowd, leaving him only a blurry, indistinct silhouette. Yang Ke picked up his coat from the ground and found a broken bracelet underneath.

Ye Xun ran a long way but couldn't find her boyfriend, so she stopped in frustration.

"Could it be that I'm seeing things, and it's not him? He didn't even come to see me!"

Ye Xun murmured to herself, wiping away her tears, only to find that the bracelet her boyfriend had given her was missing. Ye Xun ran frantically back downstairs at Tianyi Pavilion, frantically searching all the way up to the third floor. Just then, Yang Ke, who was on the other side of the wall, turned around, looked around, and then put the bracelet into his coat pocket.

“The bracelet is already broken, who would come back looking for it!” Yang Ke said, turning and walking away.

When Tong Tong returned to her dormitory, she found Ye Xun staring blankly at the empty bracelet box, lost in thought.

"Ye Xun, the teacher took attendance tonight, but thankfully I was here!" Tong Tong said with a smile, but then noticed that Ye Xun seemed to be out of her mind and hadn't heard her at all, so she asked with concern, "Ye Xun, what's wrong?"

"It's nothing!" Ye Xun said evasively.

Tong Tong wanted to ask more questions, but her phone rang. She turned on her phone and went to the balcony.

"Yuanyuan, is something the matter?"

"Are you free this weekend? It's my birthday, I'd like to treat you to dinner!"

"I'll definitely go. Who's going?"

“They’re all good friends, and I’m going to introduce you to someone. You should seize the opportunity!” Yuanyuan joked.

Tong Tong turned off her phone and turned around, only to see Ye Xun still staring blankly at the empty box. She couldn't help but sigh softly. A gust of wind blew by, and the wind chimes that had just been hung on the balcony rang crisply. Tong Tong stared at the wind chimes intently.

"Introduce someone? Who could it be?" Tong Tong muttered to herself.

Yang Ke was reading alone in his off-campus house when there was a knock on the door. Yang Ke opened the door and saw a boy standing outside. The boy looked to be about the same age as Yang Ke, and his appearance and build were handsome, but there were still traces of his student days on his face.

"May I ask who you are...?"

"Did you put this poster up?" The boy waved the poster in his hand.

Yang Ke took the poster and looked at it. It was indeed written by him. The rent for his current apartment was too high, and it was a two-bedroom apartment. He had been looking for someone to share the apartment with.

"Hello, my name is Yang Ke, please come in!"

The boy walked in and said, "My name is Dai Qiang. I'm here today to look at the apartment and also to ask about the rent!"

Yang Ke led Dai Qiang around to each room, introducing them to him one by one.

"The apartment has three bedrooms, a living room, a bathroom, and a kitchen, as well as a balcony. The bedroom on the east side is my room, and if you move in, your room will be the one on the west side. The other rooms will be shared by the two of us, and the rent will be split between us!"

Dai Qiang nodded and said, "Okay! Tell the landlord I'll be moving in in a couple of days, and I'll give you this month's rent as soon as possible!"

Chapter 004 Love Will Eventually Come True

Updated: 2008-04-13 22:18:02 Words: 0

Ye Xun had just logged on when "Nan Ke Yi Mu" sent her a message.

"Miss Chigusa, it's been dozens of days since I last saw you!"

"Literary rogue, how about you too?"

"I know you probably wanted me to say it was bad, but the result disappointed you!"

"Nan Ke, there's a provocative tone in your words. Are you trying to cause trouble? I'm not afraid of you! Bring it on!" Ye Xun typed rapidly on the keyboard.

"You say I'm provoking you? You're clearly challenging me! You've already issued a challenge!" Yang Ke laughed.

"I'm scared of you. Judging from your tone, you've got as much guts as ever!"

“You still have courage! Haha!” Yang Ke said.

"Nan Ke, after talking to you for so long, I always feel that you are very much like a plant!"

Which plant?

"A cactus!" Ye Xun said with a smile, "It's intimidating just looking at it, so it dares not get close!"

“You’re wrong, Miss Qiancao!” Nan Ke said. “It seems you have quite a misunderstanding about me! But speaking of flowers and plants, I do have some that I like!”

"Oh, really? Which one is it? I'd love to hear the details!"

"What a brilliant writing style!"

Ye Xun sent a picture of herself sticking out her tongue as a form of mockery.

"Miss Chigusa, what kind of plant are you?!"

"Lavender, with its fragrant stems and leaves, has been a fragrant herb since ancient times, and its fragrance has been appreciated throughout history!"

"I don't think so! I've been seeing you for so long, and I've never smelled your fragrance!"

"If that's the case, then we must be birds of a feather!"

"I wouldn't dare! I wouldn't dare!"

"Nan Ke, you were indeed jumping to conclusions just now. You haven't even known my name for so long, so how can you judge my character!"

“Miss Chigusa, I think your name must contain the character ‘薰’, because ‘黑千草’ combined with ‘黑千草’ forms the character ‘薰’.”

“Then your name must also contain the character ‘Ke’!” Ye Xun retorted without backing down.

"Impressive! Impressive! It seems we're evenly matched again today!"

"Nan Ke, what have you been busy with lately?" Ye Xun asked.

"They're busy arguing! Hasn't the school debate competition already started?"

"So you're a debater too! I'd love to have a match with you!"

"Don't we fight every day? Every time it's a battle of swords and flying blood!"

As soon as the dormitory door opened, Tong Tong ran in from outside, singing and dancing wildly.

"Nan Ke, I'm not talking to you anymore, a friend is here, I have to log off!"

"Then goodbye, Miss Qiancao, whose fragrance lingers in the air. Next time we meet, let's fight to the death and see who's better, and I'll prove you inferior!"

"Ye Xun, here's the information you requested!" Tong Tong handed several books to Ye Xun, then clenched her fist and said, "You absolutely have to beat them black and blue. What weapon do you think is suitable? I'll go get it for you right away!"

"How do we fight?" Ye Xun asked deliberately. "The debate rules clearly state that no actions are allowed that go overboard. In other words, we can only use our mouths, not our hands!"

"That's easy!" Tong Tong pulled Ye Xun in front of the mirror, made Ye Xun open her mouth, and then pointed to Ye Xun's two rows of white teeth, saying, "Then we'll use these two rows of teeth to make a few round calcium carbonate marks on their faces!"

"I can't do that! That's your only consistent style!" Ye Xun retorted.

"Then let's use the Lion's Roar!" Tong Tong opened her mouth, striking a pose like a shrew.

"You should handle these complex and mysterious skills!" Ye Xun said. "Can you come on the day I have my debate competition? Don't tell me you don't have time; I absolutely won't allow you to be absent this time!"

"Ye Xun, I'm sorry! I really can't come this time!" Tong Tong said. "I have classes at the Jiangbei campus next week, and I'll be staying there until the weekend!"

"What about tonight? You're not coming back?"

“My aunt lives near the school, so she has to stay there for the time being!” Tong Tong’s eyes lit up. “Ye Xun, you have to be careful at night. I’ve been seeing things moving and floating around in the house these past few nights! It’s so scary!”

Ye Xun knew that Tong Tong was deliberately scaring her, so she chased after Tong Tong to punish her, and the two of them started playing around in the room.

Tong Tong turned off her phone and entered the private room of the restaurant according to the address Yuan Yuan gave her. Yuan Yuan was chatting and laughing with several people. When they saw Tong Tong come in, they all stood up to greet her. Tong Tong knew most of them, but there was only one person who was both a stranger and a familiar face to her. This person was Yang Ke, whom she had met at the last lantern riddle party.

"Tong Tong, let me introduce you to a friend!" Yuan Yuan said, pointing to Yang Ke. "This is Yang Ke, a friend I just met!"

"Hello!" Tong Tong said excitedly, "It's so nice to see you again!"

Yang Ke was startled, then a smile appeared on his face, and he nodded generously.

After the meal, everyone dispersed. Yang Ke had only walked a short distance when Tong Tong caught up from behind.

"You don't mind if we go together, do you?" Tong Tong asked with a smile, her smile more adorable than spring flowers, exuding a charming and delicate aura.

"How could that be?" Yang Ke laughed as well. "I couldn't be happier!"

"Thank you so much for that day. Seriously, you were the one who gave me that wind chime!"

"Don't be so polite!" Yang Ke said. "We're all friends, it's nothing!"

"Yes!" Tong Tong said with some emotion, "The coincidences are just so incredible. These things are unbelievable, like they happened in a movie. We are all characters in the script!"

The two walked side by side, and for a while neither of them said a word. Yang Ke didn't know what to say, while Tong Tong was so excited that she was speechless. Tong Tong didn't believe in the so-called "love at first sight," but she couldn't forget Yang Ke after the first time she saw him. For days, Yang Ke's image had been swaying in her mind. Even though the first meeting was brief and blurry, it was crystal clear in Tong Tong's mind.

Tong Tong looked at Yang Ke standing next to her. She really couldn't believe her eyes. She had been sitting next to Yang Ke at dinner that night and had been staring at him with that same look the whole time.

Yang Ke wanted to go back to his dorm, but Tong Tong didn't say anything, so he kept quiet as well.

"Where are you going?" Yang Ke finally couldn't help but ask.

"Do you have something urgent to do?" Tong Tong asked Yang Ke.

"No!" Yang Ke shook his head.

"Then come walk with me on campus!" Tong Tong said with a smile, her manner reminding one of the word "tricky".

Yang Ke smiled, unable to refuse, and could only follow behind Tong Tong.

The two walked across a small bridge and through a grove of weeping willows. The lights shone brightly beneath their feet, creating a path that seemed to lead to heaven or a bridge of magpies floating among the stars. Tong Tong couldn't contain her excitement and began to dance along this path. The evening veiled the ripples of Emerald Lake, its mirror-like surface appearing more serene. However, the reflections of the lamps rippled gently on the lake's surface, and a gentle breeze stirred, mingling their breaths together.

Tong Tong leaned closer to Yang Ke, and the breeze carried his body heat to her, making her blood rush and even feel a little dizzy with desire. Tong Tong couldn't help but close her eyes, savoring everything.

"What a beautiful night, and this lake!" Yang Ke said.

"Just like a gentle and refined girl!" Tong Tong said, then suddenly burst out laughing.

"What's wrong?" Yang Ke asked curiously.

"It's nothing, I just thought of a very interesting analogy!"

"What metaphor?" Yang Ke asked curiously.

"It has another interpretation: 'It makes the moon hide its face and the flowers blush with shame, and the fish sink and the geese fall from the sky!'" Tong Tong said.

Yang Ke smiled and said, "Her hands are as soft as tender shoots, and her skin as smooth as cream!"

The two looked at each other and smiled, instantly closing the distance between them. They exclaimed in unison, "So it was you!"

It was already 11 p.m. when Yang Ke dropped Tong Tong off at her dorm, but the two of them still couldn't stop talking!

“Stretch out your hand!” Tong Tong said to Yang Ke.
