Capítulo 31

"I really envy you..." Fang Xiaoli rested her chin on her hand, aimlessly poking at the food in her bowl with her chopsticks, looking melancholy.

"I just came in and I've already encountered such a great opportunity. I really want to work with Su Mo. Just thinking about designing clothes for him makes me want to..." She swallowed hard, her eyes glazed over.

"Adrenaline surge!"

"......"

The Spring Festival is just around the corner, and iro is preparing to launch a new Spring Festival theme. As usual, designers will submit their drafts, and an internal selection process will be held.

In the afternoon, Jiang Jianhuan began construction.

When the word "New Year" is mentioned, the first thing that comes to mind is red. However, many people in the office have already used this element. Jiang Jianhuan frowned in distress, unconsciously twirling a pencil between her fingers.

The chill was intense when snowflakes suddenly began to fall outside, large flakes drifting down like cotton wool. Cheers of joy filled the air as several young girls from the south rushed to the windows, their eyes wide with excitement as they watched the snowflakes drift down.

Jiang Jianhuan smiled and began sketching aimlessly on the paper. She usually relieved herself this way when she lacked inspiration.

Having painted for an unknown amount of time, Jiang Jianhuan's neck began to ache. She turned her head and looked out the window, only to find that the ground was completely white. The buildings, rooftops, and plants were all covered in a layer of white.

The chaotic world transformed into a clean, harmonious, and unified ice and snow world. Jiang Jianhuan's gaze shifted, and he inadvertently noticed the Chinese knot hanging under the eaves of the opposite house, swaying slightly in the wind. On the glass, there were also exquisite and beautiful paper-cuts.

It is full of the festive atmosphere of the New Year and has a strong Chinese flavor.

A sudden inspiration struck Jiang Jianhuan, and the pen in his hand moved swiftly.

Jiang Jianhuan finished drawing three blueprints in one go. It was already getting dark outside. In winter, it gets dark early, and it gets even darker on snowy days. Jiang Jianhuan glanced at the time; there was still an hour before he could get off work.

She stretched her joints and was about to go to the restroom when her phone rang.

......

Jiang Jianhuan urged the taxi driver to hurry to the hospital. As soon as the car stopped, she couldn't wait to push open the door and rush to the elevator.

The operating room lights were on. Yi Qingxue sat in a chair, holding her phone in both hands, staring blankly at the wall. Her shoulders and back were slumped, and her eyes were lifeless.

"Mom, how is Dad?"

Jiang Jianhuan held her hand and asked anxiously. As soon as Yi Qingxue saw her, her already red eyes couldn't help but shed tears again.

“Huanhuan, your father is undergoing surgery and is still in danger…” she choked out, while Jiang Jianhuan suppressed her panic and tears.

"Why did Dad suddenly faint? He's never been in good health."

“Your father has been complaining of headaches for the past year. I’ve told him to go to the hospital for a checkup, but he refuses. I’ve bought him medicine and he’s taken it a few times, but who knew…” Yi Qingxue couldn’t continue and began to sob softly. Jiang Jianhuan looked around, preparing to ask the doctor for details.

"Who is the patient's family member?" The operating room door opened, and a man in a white coat came out. Their eyes met, and both of them were taken aback.

"Bai Qiu...?"

"Jiang Jianhuan." He looked her over for a few seconds behind his glasses, then nodded slightly.

Are you a patient's family member?

"Yes. How is my father now?"

"The patient is out of danger," Bai Qiu said, then added when she saw that the patient looked like she wanted to ask more questions.

"The fainting was caused by insufficient blood supply to the brain. The patient had stenosis in the right carotid artery. After surgery, there are basically no problems. During the hospitalization, he should rest more." He paused, as if remembering something.

"By the way, those of you who haven't paid your fees yet, remember to go down to the first floor to pay them."

Jiang Jianhuan's expression changed slightly. He nodded to him, trying to calm himself down.

"Thank you, Bai Qiu."

"Of course."

Yi Qingxue still had a card in her hand, which contained all her savings over the years, and it only covered half of the cost of this surgery. Jiang Jianhuan sat on a chair outside the hospital, flipping through the contact list one by one.

She had only known her colleagues for a few months, not close enough to lend them money. Her relatives and friends avoided them like the plague. As their names flashed before her eyes, Jiang Jianhuan's mind went blank, and she felt a tightness in her chest that made it hard to breathe.

The snow has stopped, a light rain is falling, it's pitch black outside, pedestrians hurry by, and the cold wind feels like thorns on the skin.

The trees on both sides had lost their leaves, leaving only bare branches that stretched out menacingly against the dark sky, creating a desolate scene.

Jiang Jianhuan stared blankly for a while, then lowered his head and his finger hovered over a name, just as he was about to dial it.

"Hey, miss over there, someone has already paid your bill."

Suddenly, a shout came from the counter not far away. Jiang Jianhuan opened his eyes wide in surprise and walked over in disbelief.

"Excuse me, who paid for me?"

"Oh, this is our Dr. Bai, you should know him, right?" The young nurse looked her up and down, her eyes filled with curiosity and speculation. Jiang Jianhuan was taken aback for a moment, then nodded haphazardly.

"know."

"Oh." The nurse was a little disappointed. She wanted to ask more questions, but then she realized that the woman from before had disappeared.

"What's the relationship between Dr. Bai and her? Could they be boyfriend and girlfriend..." she muttered to herself, but then she was urged on by the people behind her who were queuing to pay, so she immediately put the matter out of her mind and got busy.

Jiang Jianhuan wanted to thank Bai Qiu and return part of the money to him, but after asking several people, he learned that Bai Qiu had started another surgery, so he had no choice but to wait until Bai Qiu finished.

Jiang Xin was still unconscious and was transferred to a regular ward. Yi Qingxue stayed by his bedside, wiping away tears as she did so.

Jiang Jianhuan went outside and brought in a boxed lunch. The two ate quickly and took turns keeping watch.

Today was a long and stressful day. Yi Qingxue couldn't take it anymore, so Jiang Jianhuan rented a bed for her to rest, while he himself sat in a chair and dozed off.
