Capítulo 44

"Plop."

With a soft sound, Yi Heye almost froze. Then, his keen hearing detected another sound coming from above.

He quickly moved away from the center of the corridor, turned to the side to find cover, and almost the next second after he moved aside, a metal tentacle "splattered" out of the pile of flesh in front of him, tearing the arm that had just fallen to pieces to shreds.

The entire movement was almost a graze to Yi Heye's ear; he could even feel a bloody wind slicing through him like a blade.

Yi Heye hid by the stairwell and observed—beside him, the monster had finished punishing the arm that caused the commotion and was trying to retract it, causing the already unstable mass of flesh to scatter all over the ground with a crackling sound.

The commotion enraged the monster, and in an instant, seven or eight tentacles flew over, turning the pile of flesh into tomato juice.

It would go berserk when stimulated by sound, and its tentacles themselves lacked sight. Yi Heye made this judgment in his mind, and the siege plan gradually took shape.

After the bloody execution ended, the road in front of him was completely cleared. Yi Heye endured the nausea and walked through the sticky mess, continuing to move forward.

He didn't have time to check layer by layer to see if there were any survivors; his immediate priority was to rescue the child who was definitely still alive.

At this moment, Yi Heye had already broken through to the vicinity of the eighteenth floor. He could even hear the sound of the monster on the upper floor pacing back and forth.

He checked his weapons, adjusted his breathing, and prepared for a sudden attack.

Three, two, one.

With a loud bang, Yi Heye kicked open the safety door, and the loud noise quickly attracted a tentacle that swiftly stabbed towards him.

Fortunately, Yi Heye was well prepared. He not only dodged quickly, but also swiftly flew up to the nineteenth floor.

But this inevitably caused a commotion, and soon another tentacle flew in, as if it wanted to flank from both sides.

Having been bombarded by the Blue Sheep cannonballs, Yi Heye was now prepared for attacks that relied on speed. He subtly retreated, adjusted to a suitable position, and then raised his hand to fire a shot at each of the tentacles in front of him.

With two loud "bangs," the tentacles exploded into fragments in mid-air, which was slightly unexpected for Yi Heye—after all, the thick skin of the blue sheep had left a deep impression on him, and the sudden transformation into such a fragile skin made him feel uncomfortable in no time.

This action angered the monster's main body, and several more tentacles came, attempting to envelop him. Countless tentacles descended from the sky, all of them lunging at Yi Heye without prior agreement.

Yi Heye rolled away, dodging the core of the attack, but he was somewhat helpless—

Compared to Blue Sheep's brute strength and iron skin, this guy is clearly the type who wins by sheer numbers. No wonder he punctured everyone in the entire building. His own ammunition is also very limited, and it seems he doesn't know how long he can last.

At this moment, Yi Heye hid on the side of the corridor. Judging from the direction the tentacles flew from, the main body should be hovering between rooms 901 and 902, while the child in the video should be located to the north, which is room 902.

So he held his breath and rushed inside in one breath.

"Clang clang clang!" A row of tentacles stuck to the wall and pressed against his head, moving so fast that Yi Heye didn't dare to breathe.

But his dynamic vision was far beyond that of ordinary people. In the instant he brushed past room 902, he saw a furry head staring at him in terror.

Yi Heye found it strange. Logically speaking, even the slightest movement would have killed the monster. The child looked to be no more than five years old. How could he have survived unharmed until now?

But this thought was quickly overshadowed by the immense crisis. The corridor in front of him was about to end, and the monster behind him was still rapidly closing in without hesitation, clearly determined to kill him.

Yi Heye remained absolutely calm. He quickly analyzed the terrain and discovered a window at the end of the corridor, on the north side, that let in light.

Just a second before the tentacles pierced his back, Yi Heye raised his hand and smashed the window in front of him, then jumped out in a desperate move.

For a moment, he almost thought the monster was going to catch up and stab him to pieces. He desperately grabbed the ventilation duct outside the stairwell, his whole body hanging in the air at the height of the nineteenth floor.

At that moment, he only wished he wasn't in the game, otherwise a flying sheep would have caught him safely.

He closed his eyes in despair and waited for two or three seconds before realizing there was no movement.

Yi Heye opened his eyes with some confusion, only to find that the tentacle was writhing up and down half a meter away from the window, looking rather anxious.

Yi Heye frowned, shifted his position to steady himself, and stared directly into the monster's tentacles.

After observing for only half a second, Yi Heye, seeing the attack hidden deep in the darkness, immediately concluded that this thing was afraid of light!

Because he was afraid of light, he blasted the entire artificial sun on the south side, plunging half the building into shadow. Also because he was afraid of light, he couldn't harm the child hiding on the balcony. And for the same reason, he was powerless above the ninth floor—there was no natural light there, which was very unfriendly to his actions.

Having reached this conclusion, Yi Heye quickly clarified his next plan. He glanced at the balcony of apartment 902 and, almost without hesitation, quickly climbed back over the edge of the window.

Falling from the nineteenth floor would mean certain death, but Yi Heye wasn't worried about his technical skills at all. In no time, he made a beautiful turn and leaped out of the window of room 902.

Seeing the commotion, the child, holding back tears, scrambled to the window and pulled it open from the inside before Yi Heye could instinctively and recklessly smash it.

At this moment, the monster's tentacles had already followed them into 902's living room. The dense tentacles twisted and turned at the edge where light and shadow met, looking like they were about to go berserk at any moment.

Having already grasped his weakness, Yi Heye jumped onto the balcony without hesitation.

When the child saw someone coming to rescue him, he immediately broke down in tears. The tears he had been holding back flowed down his face, but he dared not cry out loud. He could only run over tremblingly and hug Yi Heye's leg.

The child's appearance reminded Yi Heye of the child in the game who collapsed in front of him due to the poisonous fog.

Yi Heye gently squatted down and stroked the child's head: "Don't be afraid, it's alright now."

The tentacles behind him were still probing wildly. Yi Heye quickly tied a safety rope around the child and lifted him out of the window with both hands: "I'll put you down, and someone will catch you down below."

The child looked down and saw the sky above the nineteenth floor; his legs immediately went weak: "No...it's so high..."

By this time, Yi Heye's limited edition gentleness had sold out. After things had completely cooled down, the child's pleas for mercy were nothing more than a passing breeze to him: "Don't waste time."

The child was so frightened that he choked, looked down at the terrifying sky again, closed his eyes, and hugged Yi Heye's arm.

Just then, a tentacle was about to cross the boundary and rush onto the balcony. Yi Heye grabbed the child as if he were a chick and kicked him: "Get down yourself or should I throw you down?"

The child looked into his eyes, which were more frightening than a monster's, let out a sob, and quickly grabbed the rope and swam down.

Seeing that he was cooperating, Yi Heye slowly lowered the rope with one hand while immediately contacting the downstairs: "This guy is afraid of light and will go berserk in the noise. He can't come to the north-facing room for the time being. Arrange for a powerful spotlight to shine on him immediately. I'll be waiting for him in 902."

The other side received the message with a tense atmosphere, gave a few instructions, and then began preparations.

A few seconds later, the rope loosened, and the walkie-talkie crackled to life: "The child has landed safely." Yi Heye immediately freed his hand to steady his pistol, adopting a defensive stance.

Almost instantly, the foremost tentacle twisted and lunged at Yi Heye. Perhaps the exposure to the sunlight was too painful, for the tentacle had lost its strength when it reached Yi Heye.

"Bang!" Yi Heye fired without hesitation, shooting it down, but at the same time, more tentacles tried to crawl over from the other side of the shadow.

As Yi Heye fired, he reached out and, just as the tentacles were thrusting at him, pulled out a powerful flashlight hidden at his waist.

In that instant, the tentacles, like squid falling into a fire, immediately stopped moving and writhed in agony.

Yi Heye reached out again and knocked them down one by one.

Taking advantage of the tentacles being restrained, Yi Heye fired his gun while using a powerful flashlight to approach them. The tentacles, which were already somewhat weakened by the blows, retreated under the powerful aura emanating from Yi Heye's holy light.

The moment he stepped out the door, Yi Heye finally saw the thing's true form—just as the case report stated, it was a humanoid mechanical butler, dressed in decent clothes, kneeling in the middle of the corridor.

His body from the neck down was completely intact, but his face had turned into the shape of a man-eating flower, with his skin split open and spewing out menacing tentacles.

At this moment, upon hearing Yi Heye's movement, the body twisted strangely a few times and looked towards Yi Heye.

"They're here." Yi Heye broadcast the signal over the walkie-talkie. To the east, the drones that were already ready emitted a deafening roar—"Clang clang clang clang! Clang clang clang!! The great river flows eastward..."

A tremendous singing voice boomed in from outside the window, making the shards of glass on the ground seem to dance with its powerful force.

Yi Heye felt as if his heart was about to fly out of his chest. After a wave of unbearable discomfort, the monster in front of him also began to go berserk.

He covered his ears with his hands, let out a loud hiss, and then ran like a madman toward the south window.

"Click!!" The moment he turned his head, the previously pitch-black south was suddenly filled with dazzling light. Yi Heye felt like his eyes were going to go blind. When he looked up, he saw that those awesome people had actually sent a drone to bring in an artificial sun.

The monster visibly twitched, swayed, and tried to turn its head to run north, but because it exposed its vitals, Yi Heye blasted off half of its tentacles with a single shot.

"Awooo!!" At this moment, the monster was like a snail that had been sprinkled with salt, struggling helplessly under the bright light, but still waving its tentacles, trying to stab it to death.

Yi Heye returned to the balcony and quickly received the machine gun that was brought downstairs, setting it up in a few moments.

"Rat-a-tat-tat!!" A burst of violent gunfire blasted the already fragile monster to pieces. Just when it was about to be completely destroyed, Yi Heye suddenly stopped shooting, ran over, and kicked its head off to the ground.

The second after subduing the monster, Yi Heye picked up a knife and pried open its skull with a clang, taking out the guy's chip from inside—he had promised to bring the chip out intact, and he would definitely keep his word.

The moment the chip was removed, the robot completely lost power, collapsing into a pile of fragments. Yi Heye picked up the walkie-talkie: "Complete, prepare for follow-up rescue."

Too lazy to climb the stairs, he used the child's rescue rope to climb over the wall and down to the ground floor.

The teamwork turned out surprisingly well this time, giving Yi Heye a taste of what it's like to be guided and supported by SHEEP in a game.

Just as this thought flashed through his mind, a familiar figure appeared in the crowd that came to meet him.

"How was the collaboration? Are you satisfied?"

In front of him, Jian Yunxian was still holding a walkie-talkie, clearly indicating that he was the one who had just commanded the battle.

Yi Heye, still hanging in mid-air, was stunned for a moment before finally landing with a "thud," clapping his hands and looking at Jian Yunxian in front of him: "What, it's you?"

"Please allow me to reintroduce myself. I am the liaison commander for this operation, and your partner from now on, Jian Yunxian." The man smiled and gave him a gentlemanly bow. "Nice to meet you again."

Chapter 44, number 044

Before him stood Jian Yunxian, dressed in a refined and composed manner, leading a large, fat sheep wearing sunglasses and looking arrogant.

Yi Heye stared at him for a long time before slapping away his hand that was about to shake hands, and said with a cold smile, "Utterly unscrupulous, Professor Jian. It must have been hard for you to get close to me by such unscrupulous means."

Jian Yunxian chuckled and withdrew his hand, which had been hurt by the blow, and began his traditional act: "Mr. Yi is starting to say things I don't understand again."

Yi Heye stared indifferently at his smiling face for a long time before lowering his voice and sneering, "I've always admired your confidence. You really don't think I can do anything to you."

Jian Yunxian leaned down, his emerald eyes still holding an unpleasant smile: "Haven't I been waiting for you to punish me all this time?"

Seeing that Jian Yunxian was almost face to face with him, Yi Heye did not back down. Instead, he returned a fake smile and stared into his eyes: "Theoretically speaking, the feel of poking a human eye and a machine eyeball should be different. I've always wondered if it's true."

Upon hearing this, Jian Yunxian immediately stopped smiling and straightened up, not giving him a chance to poke his eyes.

“Mr. Yi, a persistent violent impulse is an abnormal phenomenon,” Jian Yunxian said, “especially when it’s directed at such an excellent and considerate work partner as me.”

Yi Heye remained unmoved, his smile unwavering: "If I'm sick, do you think you can just poke my eyeballs out?"

Jian Yunxian finally shut his mouth, no longer wanting to make a fool of himself.

After his outburst, Yi Heye felt better. He looked back at the intense rescue work inside the building—amidst screams and cries, everything was proceeding smoothly as people escaped from danger.

At that moment, a small figure stumbled over from the ambulance not far away and grabbed Yi Heye's leg. Looking down, it was the child he had just rescued from the balcony:

"Thank you, brother... thank you!"

Yi Heye was not good at handling this situation, so he could only reach out and rub his head, not knowing what to say.

After waiting for a while without getting a reply, the child looked up and asked seriously, "Why didn't you say you're welcome?"

Although the child's tone was very sincere and questioning, Yi Heye felt that this little brat was teaching him how to do things, so he turned cold and lifted him back to the ambulance with one hand: "You should thank me."
