Anru stood not far in front of him, her delicate face streaked with tears.
When she saw that Song Lang had discovered her, she cried even harder, feeling an indescribable sense of grievance.
Song Lang sighed, walked over, opened his arms, and hugged her: "Hey, you have bad taste in boyfriends. Remember to open your eyes wider next time."
Anru nestled in his arms, crying so hard her whole body trembled. Song Lang patiently comforted her until she came to her senses.
"Can we go get a milk tea together?" Anru asked, tugging at his clothes.
Song Lang thought for a moment, then shook his head and said, "I have something to do, something important, I have to go now."
He was feeling very frustrated and wanted to go to No. 5 Middle School to see Shen Zhifei.
Maybe his brother can guess two of the final exam questions correctly, and who knows, he might even find out who that idiot is who bewitched Shen Zhifei.
Chapter 024
When Song Lang left his school, he walked openly through the main gate, and the security guard didn't ask him a single question. But after turning two streets to arrive at No. 5 Middle School, he couldn't be so blatant.
It was during class time, and the entire campus was unusually quiet, with only the occasional shouts of students coming from the playground. After thinking for a moment, Song Lang went around to the west wall of the school, took a short running start, used the wall as leverage to push off a few times, and easily straddled the top of the wall.
He looked around, saw no one, put his hand on the wall and jumped into the school, a sudden sharp pain shooting through his palm.
"Fuck!"
Song Lang gasped. A shard of glass was embedded in his left palm, and his hand trembled slightly, causing the shard to sway gently.
He pulled the thing out with a heavy heart, his hand bleeding profusely, but thankfully the wound wasn't too deep, and he stopped the bleeding after pressing on it for two minutes.
"Feifei, your older brother really shed blood and sweat for you..."
He muttered to himself as he sneaked into the school like a thief. Along the way, he encountered two or three teachers who asked him which class he was in, why he wasn't wearing his school uniform, and why he wasn't in class and was just wandering around outside the classroom. Song Lang waved his blood-stained hand and, without batting an eye, made up a story that he had just been to the infirmary.
Just as he stepped into the teaching building, the bell rang, and footsteps and conversations gradually filled the corridor. Taking advantage of the crowd, he climbed up to the fifth floor in one go, and looked into the experimental class, but did not see Shen Zhifei.
Just as he was about to ask someone, the bespectacled boy, who had been his guide before, came out of the classroom carrying his workbook, and the two of them locked eyes.
"Big brother? What are you doing here?" The boy with glasses was, after all, a polite and model student, and he couldn't do something like not recognizing someone he met.
"Hey? Perfect timing! What's your name again?" Song Lang was overjoyed, but embarrassingly, he seemed to have never known Shuguang's name.
"Big brother, my name is Xiao Xi."
"Oh right! I owe you a favor for bringing me in last time. By the way, where's Fei Fei Ren?"
“He was just called to the teacher’s office and shouldn’t be back for a while. We have self-study next period, big brother, you…” Xiao Xi took off his school uniform and handed it to Song Lang, “You should wear this, it won’t be too conspicuous.”
"Thanks." Good students are always thoughtful.
Song Lang reached out and took the school uniform. The large, dried bloodstains on his palm terrified the good student, who stammered, "Big brother... your hand..."
"Hey, it's nothing, just a small cut." Song Lang acted nonchalantly, casually putting on his school uniform and saying to Xiao Xi, "I'll wait for him here for a while, you go about your business."
"Oh... okay, okay." Xiao Xi walked towards the teacher's office with the exercise book in her arms, looking back every few steps. Seeing Song Lang leaning against the corridor railing with his hands in his pockets, he thought to himself that he was indeed a big shot in the underworld. Getting injured and bleeding was probably a common occurrence for him. His left hand was stained red with blood, but he didn't care.
The break between classes was 20 minutes long. Xiao Xi thought it over and over and decided he shouldn't let his injured older brother stand in the cold wind for so long. So he went to find Shen Zhifei and told him everything about Song Lang waiting for him at the classroom door and his injury.
Shen Zhifei was helping the teacher organize the score sheets from the mock exams two days ago when she heard the news and suddenly stood up, startling another teacher in the office who was grading papers.
“Let’s talk outside.” He strode out of the office, and Xiao Xi pushed him to follow.
"How badly is he injured? Did he tell you why he came to find me?" Shen Zhifei asked Song Lang as he ran towards the teaching building.
In the bustling corridor, everyone saw that the usually calm and composed aloof beauty was running frantically with a look of anxiety on her face, and they all made way for her with question marks on their heads.
His legs were too long, and he ran too fast. Xiao Xi was panting as she chased after him and soon couldn't keep up.
Xiao Xi, bent over and panting heavily with his hands on his knees, said, "Big brother is fine. He said it was a small cut and the bleeding has stopped, but he didn't say why he came to find you."
Shen Zhifei was still worried, so he ran up to the fifth floor in one breath, but suddenly stopped at the bottom of the stairs.
He stood silently behind the wall, his eyes slightly red, staring at the person not far away who was chatting and laughing with several girls. His violently pounding chest slowly calmed down, and he slowly clenched his fists.
Xiao Xi caught up, panting, and bumped his head into Shen Zhifei's back, knocking his glasses frame askew.
"N-I'm sorry," he adjusted his glasses, glanced at Shen Zhifei who was pursing her lips and remaining silent, then looked down into the corridor and asked in confusion, "Why aren't you going over there?"
Shen Zhifei slowly withdrew his gaze and looked down at Xiao Xi, who was still catching his breath: "Could you please take him back to the dormitory first? Tell him I'll go back to find him at noon."
Xiao Xi checked the time; there was enough time for a round trip, but he wanted to ask Shen Zhifei why he didn't go himself. However, before he could ask, Shen Zhifei had already turned and gone downstairs, seemingly heading back to the teacher's office.
"Huh? I, I..." Xiao Xi stretched out Er Kang's hand and waved it haphazardly in the air, not understanding how he had suddenly become the messenger for these two.
Sigh, what can I do? I'm too enthusiastic, but I really don't dare to offend the big shots in the underworld.
Xiao Xi scratched his head helplessly, walked towards Song Lang, and relayed Shen Zhifei's words.
Song Lang didn't refuse. He had skipped class today and didn't plan to go back, so he felt perfectly justified in letting Xiao Xi lead the way. He pretended to be a student who had just come out of the infirmary and needed to go back to the dormitory to rest, thus successfully fooling the dormitory supervisor.
"Big brother, you should rest well. I'm going back to study now."
Xiao Xi closed the door for him. Song Lang went to the bathroom first to wash the wound on his palm before coming to Shen Zhifei's bedside to take a look.
The quilt was folded like a tofu block, and the sheets were laid out extremely smoothly. Song Lang lifted a corner of the pillow, and the area underneath was clean, with no smelly socks hidden there.
