Chapitre 44

Qin Chu used all his strength to pull the hunter's face until it was bright red, but he couldn't find any traces of artificial intervention. It seems that he was born with this kind of face that deserves a beating.

Since it wasn't just one person, Qin Chu felt slightly relieved.

He thought, "That makes sense."

Although Zhao Yuan was a bit mischievous, liked to act, and was a bit of a jerk, he didn't seem as repulsive as the guy in front of him.

"Alright, get lost." After confirming, Qin Chu slapped the person away and swaggered onto the bed.

K huddled at the foot of the bed, cupping her burning face in her hands, and sighed, "Do you still have yesterday's face mask? Can I borrow it?"

Qin Chu was completely baffled by him. How could he have gotten addicted to it after just one time?

Seeing that Qin Chu didn't respond, K looked at Qin Chu with a troubled expression and accused, "How could you do this to me? Just because you're good-looking, you think you can do whatever you want to me?"

General Qin glanced at him and said confidently, "It's because I can beat you."

Upon hearing this, K laughed in exasperation: "Really? You want to try something serious?"

Men always have a competitive spirit.

The two exchanged a glance, and before anyone knew who had made the first move, the mattress was nearly blown off its feet.

It has to be said that fighting in bed is much more convenient than in a coffin. The most important thing is that it's quieter and won't attract the housekeeper.

Qin Chu was known for his ruthless fighting style, and K was no exception; his methods were incredibly vicious. What was even more infuriating was that, whether he was winning or losing, he always wore a lazy smile.

With a muffled thud, the two of them landed on the ground together.

Qin Chu grabbed the hunter's throat with one hand, while his knee pressed firmly against the hunter's abdomen.

His hair was a little messy, and he was only slightly out of breath: "You admit defeat? If you admit defeat, then get out of here."

K laughed hoarsely, "Your skills are better than mine; I can't beat you in a normal fight. But you have one weakness..."

Qin Chu's eyebrows twitched slightly, watching to see what he would say.

The hunter's smile deepened: "You won't kill me."

Qin Chu narrowed his eyes slightly, knowing that the hunter was right.

He was on guard against an attack from behind when he noticed the hunter's unrestrained smile falter slightly, and he stared at him blankly for two seconds.

"What are you looking at?" Qin Chu asked.

He felt beads of sweat sliding from behind his ears down his neck, and casually wiped them away with his hand.

Beads of sweat clung to her porcelain-white skin, the cold white hue softened by the intense fighting, casting a dazzling glow. Unaware of this, the man casually brushed his slender fingers against his neck, a move that seemed almost seductive.

This was actually a lapse in technique, but K didn't retaliate.

Qin Chu looked at him, puzzled, only to see the man pause for two seconds before making a gesture of surrender.

General Qin, still not satisfied with the fight, was a little annoyed: "That's it?"

"That's it? We can't beat them." The hunter's smile returned, but he inadvertently shifted his gaze away.

He thought that if the fighting continued, something bad might happen.

Qin Chu released the person with suspicion.

The hunter took a while to sit up from the ground. He slowly stood up, and instead of touching the bed again, he walked to the window and opened it.

It was a cloudy day, and there was no sunshine outside yet, only a damp, cold wind blowing in gusts. K looked around and went straight to the balcony to stand.

After standing there for a while, out of some reluctance, he turned back and glanced into the house again.

His Highness the Prince had already made the bed simply and was now leaning against the headboard reading a book.

The man's profile was icy cold; he remained like a sword tempered with ice water, showing no change except for his coldness and sharpness. Clearly, the intense physical contact had had no effect on him whatsoever.

K rested his chin on his hand and stared at Qin Chu for a while. Then, leaning on the balcony railing, he shook his head, chuckled softly, and muttered to himself, "Can't compare."

Chapter 34, Second Story (9)

But some people... it's impossible for them to be honest.

Before Qin Chu had even turned two pages, K, who had been vehemently admitting defeat, came over again and sat down on the bed with an air of nonchalance.

Lifting his eyelids to glance at her, Qin Chu scoffed, "Have you no shame?"

K smiled but didn't reply.

Perhaps knowing he couldn't win, the man began to bargain: "Let's make a deal."

He patted the bed: "Give me half the space, and I'll give you a 20% discount on anything you ask me to kill vampires or murder in the future?"

Qin Chu closed the book, somewhat surprised: "You, a vampire hunter, have quite a wide range of businesses?"

"There's no other way, it's just making a living." K sighed insincerely, and lifted his foot to put it on the bed.

Qin Chu kicked him directly: "Get lost, I'd rather do it myself than ask you."

K reluctantly withdrew his foot: "Then a 30% discount? 30% at most."

As he spoke, he looked at Qin Chu and suddenly said, "Your Highness, I always feel that you owe me something."

Qin Chu had never seen such a shameless person in his life: "What do I owe you? Explain yourself."

The hunter stared at Qin Chu's profile for a while.

The curtains were open, and the outside was gloomy. The indoor light was as dim as ever, with only the flickering candle in the corner casting a dim yellow glow that fell directly on Qin Chu's profile.

The hard jawline was thus softened by a touch of ethereal gentleness.

K said matter-of-factly, "Although I can't remember right now, you definitely owe me one."

Qin Chu glanced at him, not in the mood to listen to his nonsense, and simply stood up to go for a walk.

Seeing this, the hunter changed his tone and offered a different bargaining chip: "Then I'll go all out. You take me in, and you can drink my blood as much as you want from now on, how about it?"

Qin Chu stopped in her tracks and turned to look at him: "So you want me to drink your blood?"

“I was worried about you.” K smiled habitually. “Although I don’t know how you managed to suppress your thirst for blood, going without blood for a long time will make you weak. High-ranking vampires always have to be careful, because if someone has the chance to eat you, they will become the new prince.”

Qin Chu did not show any worry on his face.

He released his grip on the doorknob, turned and walked back to the bedside, staring into the hunter's eyes, and asked pointedly, "What did you do to the blood?"

K's eyes sparkled with amusement, and he exclaimed, seemingly genuinely, "Oh dear, you actually found out."

-

Qin Chu left the bedroom, but instead of going outside, he walked up the stairs to the library on the top floor of the castle.

The idea of tampering with the blood was initially dismissed by Qin Chu. According to Noah's information, blood is of utmost importance to vampires; no one would be foolish enough to poison their own blood vessels.

K's ability to do this makes him, in a way, a madman.

Qin Chu could never figure out K's behavior.

As a mere vampire hunter, many of his actions were excessive. In this hierarchical world, as a low-ranking vampire, he often seemed far too adept.

What Qin Chu found even more incomprehensible was this person's attitude.

He clearly knew a great deal about vampires and harbored a deep aversion to them, yet he often seemed oblivious to most of them. Despite being hired by humans, he showed little empathy for the humans kept in the castle.

It seems he was simply doing things for money.

But... it's a bit too perfunctory.

With a creak, the heavy door to the library was opened.

Noah couldn't quite understand Qin Chu's current behavior and couldn't help but ask, "Sir, I know K tampered with the blood, but you don't need to drink his blood to survive. So it doesn't affect you. Why are you still here looking up information?"

"Better safe than sorry." Qin Chu walked directly to the window and opened the curtains to let the sunlight in.

Instead of immediately searching for those ancient books on the bookshelf, Qin Chu sat down at the table first and took out the stolen gun to disassemble it.

The only bullet was embedded in the wall of Qin Chu's bedroom. Since Qin Chu couldn't find anything else to practice with, he could only estimate the value based on the gun's parts.

Guns are only personal weapons. Although silver bullets are very lethal to vampires, the vampires move very fast, so this weapon requires a high level of skill from the user.

Based solely on this weapon, Qin Chu did not believe that the impending war would lead to the extinction of the vampire race.

After assembling the gun, Qin Chu stood by the window and pondered for a while.

He hadn't left the castle in days, but according to the butler, vampires were hunting humans every day. If this continued, war would be inevitable.

Qin Chu tossed aside the gun in his hand and suddenly asked, "Noah, can I become a vampire hunter?"

Noah: "...What are you thinking? Your daily life is about being a refined vampire and raising children, not about killing vampires. Please remember that!"

"Even disguising myself isn't enough?" Qin Chu was still eager to try. "For example, I can disguise myself as K."

Noah felt a pang of sympathy for the hunter for two seconds: "No. Your behavior can deviate to some extent from your identity, but you can't just change your persona entirely."

Qin Chu had no choice but to abandon this plan.

"Sir, please don't be anxious," Noah comforted us. "Even if the mission completion rate in this world is not high, it is not dangerous for us. We can make up for it in the next world. But if we attract the attention of the mainframe, not only will the difficulty of the next mission increase significantly, but we may also be sacrificed."

"Noah, I am willing to sacrifice myself." Qin Chu looked out the window.

Noah was somewhat moved. Since the old marshal passed away, Qin Chu had truly been living with his life on the line. People with no ties to them are incredibly reckless.

Just as she was feeling touched, Qin Chu changed the subject and emphasized, "But to be honest, I don't want to sacrifice myself with you."

Noah held back his tears: "..."

Qin Chu added the reason at the right time: "It's too embarrassing to have a negative progress bar."

Noah became completely withdrawn.

Night fell again, and Qin Chu dismissed the butler, skipping dinner.

This time, he did not go to the castle gate to greet them, but stood on the open-air balcony, looking down at the parents outside the castle walls.

Yesterday, the group of little vampires bid farewell to their parents and entered the castle one after another. They were clearly quite frightened by Qin Chu's confinement yesterday, and their actions upon entering the castle today were much more restrained.

But when they occasionally looked up at Qin Chu on the balcony, their still bewildered eyes held a deeper sense of awe.

A short while later, the butler appeared on the balcony and said to Qin Chu, "Your Highness, the ladies are in the living room, apologizing for the children's rudeness yesterday."

"Okay, I'll come over in a bit?" Qin Chu waved his hand.
