Résurrection de cadavres - Chapitre 7

Chapitre 7

The thin director sternly rebuked, "Nonsense! Didn't we arrange for your student representatives to meet and discuss with the director immediately?"

"Those representatives were all appointed behind closed doors by the student affairs office and cannot represent the will of the majority of students." The one who stepped forward was Guo Qinqin, who had been the center of attention at the bonfire party the night before.

How did you know?

"I am one of the lucky representatives who were selected. The student affairs office has already written my speech and asked me to read it..." Guo Qinqin said, taking out the speech.

The thin director, startled, quickly stepped forward and restrained them: "Don't make a fool of yourselves. Don't you even consider that the dignified director wouldn't just see you like that?"

"Good question! What do you all think?" Director Ma, who had quietly approached, asked loudly, startling the thin director.

"Yes--!" The students, clearly encouraged by the director's kind gaze, cheered and applauded enthusiastically.

"My fellow students understand me best." Director Ma then smiled and asked the thin director, "Tell me, if an education director doesn't even want to see or is afraid to see his fellow students, does he deserve to be called a dignified director?"

The thin director could only force a laugh, and was then glared at even more fiercely by the principal who had followed him.

Director Ma walked among the students, shaking hands with each of them. Finally, he shook hands with Guo Qinqin, pointing at her affectionately: "Old friend, I knew it right away, you're the mastermind behind it all."

Guo Qinqin immediately corrected her: "No, you guessed wrong!"

Director Ma was puzzled: "Hmm?"

The other students chimed in, eager to answer: "She's our—front desk director!"

Director Ma slapped his forehead in feigned frustration at his misjudgment, which drew another burst of laughter from the students.

The principal and the thin director standing to the side couldn't laugh. The principal gritted his teeth and pointed at the thin director, who then gritted his teeth and pointed at the fat security guard. The fat security guard had no one to point at, so he could only spread his hands and look helpless.

Guo Qinqin casually smoothed her bangs that were swept to the left of her forehead, and extended an invitation to Director Ma with a natural and generous air: "Respected Director, would you mind coming to our classroom and having a friendly exchange with everyone?"

"To the classroom?" Director Ma frowned.

Guo Qinqin didn't shy away from the topic: "What? Is it not allowed? I suppose you haven't heard the story of Lord Ye who loved dragons but was terrified of them?"

Director Ma seemed angry. He pushed aside the students and walked straight to a wide lawn by the roadside.

The atmosphere at the scene suddenly turned cold.

The thin director, his hands trembling, whispered a warning to Guo Qinqin: "Don't push your luck."

The lawn was enclosed by a few tattered straw ropes, connected to several wooden warning signs that read "Do not step on it, violators will be fined".

Seeing Director Ma standing with his hands on his hips by the rope circle, the thin director quickly stepped forward and whispered, "Director, this straw rope is temporary. The one-meter-high stainless steel railing is being rushed out and will be replaced soon."

Director Ma pushed him aside, suddenly bent down, yanked up a wooden sign, snapped the straw rope, and turned to shout at the astonished students, "Isn't this place perfectly fine?!"

"Oh--!" The students suddenly realized what was happening and cheered as they rushed toward the lush green lawn!

The boys who were running ahead also rushed to pull out the remaining wooden signs and break the rope!

"Hey! Hey!" The thin director jumped around anxiously, trying to stop him, but the principal blocked him: "Don't make things worse, he's an agricultural and forestry expert and a doctoral supervisor! He's the one who cultivated this grass, the more you trample on it, the more it grows."

Upon hearing this, the chubby security guard was excited and wanted to step on it, but the principal quickly stopped him: "Hey, I think you should skip it. As far as I know, infinitely pressure-resistant lawns haven't been invented in our country yet!"

On the carpet-like lawn, Director Ma took the lead and sat down, followed by the students. Only the sanctimonious officials from the department and the school were unsure whether to stand or sit...

The carefully planned reception schedule was completely disrupted, or rather, scrapped. In the end, even the banquet scheduled to be held at the Education Hotel was changed to the student restaurant. Director Ma not only had to have dinner with thousands of students, but also insisted on queuing up with his own plate and getting his own food, just like the students.

This was tough on the accompanying officials who were usually so dignified and aloof. They hadn't even finished feeling bad about getting mud and grass all over their expensive trousers, and now they had to huddle up and imitate others in queuing for food under everyone's watchful eyes. It was really tough for them.

Just as Director Ma was about to reach the window, he suddenly left the line and refused to play!

The principal nervously went to greet him, only to be met with a tirade from Director Ma: "Who owns this restaurant? What kind of restaurant is this?"

The principal hurriedly looked around for the thin director who was hiding far away to answer him.

"You're such a bureaucrat! Come here, let me tell you!" Director Ma pulled the principal to the cafeteria window, pointing to the menu pasted onto the glass with colored paper cutouts: "Look, this is a shady business run by Sun Erniang!"

The principal took a closer look and couldn't help but chuckle. It turned out that some mischievous student had played a prank, removing a few strokes from "ham and winter melon" and "tiger-skin pepper," turning them into "human flesh winter melon" and "tiger-skin uncle."

Amidst laughter, Director Ma ate and chatted happily with the students around him.

The skinny director, who was hiding in the corner of the restaurant and swallowing the "human flesh winter melon," was far from happy. He had originally hoped to take this opportunity to make a good impression on the director and get his vice principal position approved quickly. However, he didn't know whether the director had a good impression of him or not, but he certainly didn't think much of the director's impression: "Hmph, let's see how far you can go with your 'show' today!"

"Please be quiet!" At this moment, Guo Qinqin, who was dining with Director Ma, climbed onto a stool and announced loudly, "Students, I have some good news to share. Director Ma and several other leaders just approved on the spot that we can hold the first direct election for student council president at the new campus of Lianyungang University tonight as scheduled. They also decided that our university will be a pilot unit for democratic management and student self-governance, and that our experience will be promoted among universities throughout the province!"

"Oh--" The restaurant erupted in cheers, with bowls and plates clattering in celebration!

QQ Lost - Part 2

QQ Lost Chapter 11

Night falls.

Since all the students had gone to the auditorium to participate in the direct election of the student council president, Building D of the student dormitory was as quiet as the surrounding buildings.

Behind the building, the old, dark, withered locust tree still stands silently leaning against the ground...

A moment later, a dark figure slowly peeked out from behind the tree, looking up at the rooftop.

A moment later, a noise indeed came from the rooftop.

"Snap!" First, the bundle of rope was thrown up from the skylight again, and then Xu Haibing sneaked up and, as usual, hunched over and hurried toward the northwest corner room.

Logically speaking, today was truly an unlucky day for him. He slipped and fell down the stairs at noon, suffering physical pain; then, his blind date at KFC caused him further emotional distress; and when he got home, his mother greeted him excitedly, asking how tall the girl was, if she had fair skin, and whether she had single or double eyelids, assuming her son was always the one picking girls. Little did she know, this time she was the one being picked, and her face was utterly humiliated. Xu Haibing harbored a thousand resentments and bitterness, which transformed into a determination and action to get to the bottom of the 507 situation.

This time, he clearly learned from his midday lesson. He not only secured one end of the rope firmly to the door latch, but also tied the other end around his waist. Finally, he even took out his phone and turned it off, for triple protection.

The dark figure behind the tree craned its neck to watch Xu Haibing's every move on the rooftop.

Xu Haibing grabbed the rope and began to climb down the wall, using the suspension method for the second time to approach the rear window of 507.

The curtains weren't drawn on the back window, but it was pitch black. Xu Haibing held his breath, pressing his face close to the windowpane to peer inside, even pressing his delicate nose against the glass.

Suddenly, a large, grinning, yellow head appeared right in front of his face!

Xu Haibing's vision went black, his hands loosened, and he plummeted into the air...

Shen Daxing was surfing the internet in his dorm room late at night when he suddenly heard a light tapping on the window. He turned around and saw a huge yellow head with a gaping, blood-red mouth! He was so frightened that he fell to the ground...

A terrifying thought jolted Xu Haibing, who had been momentarily unconscious, back to reality.

Upon closer inspection, he realized he was sitting against the wall of the building!

Upon touching the ground, one discovers that the rope tied upstairs is now lying on the floor!

A glance around: A vast, dark wilderness stretched out before me, utterly silent…

At that moment, the stage in the school auditorium was suddenly illuminated, and Guo Qinqin, standing in the center, smiled and bowed deeply to everyone. The vote count on the large whiteboard behind her showed that the tally marks under Guo Qinqin's name were almost overflowing the whiteboard, clearly indicating that she had defeated the other candidates by an overwhelming majority and been elected student council president!

Thunderous applause erupted from the audience!

At the repeated request of the teachers and students, Director Ma, who was sitting in the last row, went up to the stage, warmly shook hands with Guo Qinqin, and delivered an impromptu speech:

"Dear students: On this exciting night, I not only congratulate Guo Qinqin, but also all of you, for you have created new history. If I were not ignorant, what I just witnessed was the first direct student council election in all schools across the country. You have advanced the progress of the Republic's political civilization with extraordinary courage! I recall the German philosopher Karl Jaspers saying this about the concept of the university: 'The university should always be permeated with this idea: students should be independent and self-reliant, taking control of their own destiny,' and 'everyone can feel called to become the greatest person.' Everything I have seen today gives me reason to believe that every student here today has the potential to become—the greatest person—in the near future! Thank you."

Touched by Director Ma's earnest words, the students remained silent for a few seconds before remembering to applaud in response.

Xiao You arrived at the school's Party Committee office early in the morning.

The thin director, who was on the phone, suddenly stood up, startling Xiao You, who had just entered the room. Thinking he was just being polite, Xiao You went over and tried to get him to sit down. But as soon as the director sat down, he jumped up again, bowing and scraping into the phone, offering his apologies.

"Yes, yes... Principal, it's my fault for not doing my job properly... Oh yes, it's dereliction of duty... It has caused you... Oh oh, it has caused the whole school... Oh oh, it has caused trouble for the entire higher education sector... I accept any punishment from the organization..."

Xiao You couldn't help but chuckle. She wanted to remind him that it wasn't a video call, so there was no need to match his actions and expressions. But seeing how engrossed he was, she knew that reminding him would be useless, so she could only sit down and wait patiently.

The thin director didn't hang up the phone until he had thoroughly criticized himself, belittled him to the point of being worthless and almost executed, before slumping dejectedly into his chair.

Xiao You asked, "What's wrong?"

The thin director slammed his hand on the table: "Still asking? It's all your fault!"

"Um?"

"You're such a jinx, saying I'd be a vice principal soon, a vice principal soon. Once you've revealed the truth, it won't come true anymore, will it?"

"Oh dear, this was all pre-arranged. All that's left is to get the paperwork done and go through the formalities."

"This document is about to be issued, but it's not an appointment document; it's a disciplinary document!"

"Why? Is it because Shen Daxing died? Yu Suo and I have been keeping this under wraps for you!"

"That's because of that. It's something I couldn't have imagined, so there's no point in telling you. Hey, what brings you here so early?"

"I'd like to check the student dormitory registration list for Building D."

"Oh." The thin director stood up and habitually glanced at the top of the cabinet. Seeing it was empty, he remembered to open the cabinet door and casually asked, "Which room do you need to check?"

"507."

The thin director closed the cabinet door: "No need to check anymore, there's only one person in room 507."

"who?"

"Guo-Qin-Qin!"

Xiao You asked in confusion, "Your student dorms are so spacious, with one person per room? When we were in police academy, there were 12 of us crammed together, practically stacked on top of each other."

"You don't know this, but these student apartments are different from regular student dormitories. Isn't the new school required to operate under a new mechanism? Our school's logistics services have also introduced a market mechanism. These dormitories are no longer apartments; they have bathrooms, and each room is for two people. To put it bluntly, it's whoever can afford it lives there. Currently, apart from the fourth floor where working-age graduate students like Xu Haibing live, the male students on the first, second, and third floors, and the female students on the fifth floor, are naturally from wealthier families who can afford it. Guo Qinqin lives alone; obviously, her family's financial strength is even greater, and they can afford two beds."

"Oh? What do her parents do?"

"The student's file is still at the old school and hasn't been transferred over. I don't know much about it, but he's definitely not an ordinary person."

"Did she have unusual living conditions, and did she also behave in a special way?"

The thin director gave a wry smile, thinking to himself, "Xiao You, you really know how to rub salt in the wound!" "It's unusual, very unusual! Right after the semester started, she and a few students came to me clamoring for a student council. I told them the new school was just starting out, everything needed to be done, so let's put this on hold for now. You know, a student council is just for show; it'll be a formality sooner or later. But I never expected they'd secretly start planning it. First, a public election, then a direct election—all planned and methodical. Yesterday, they seized the opportunity of the provincial leaders' visit to the school to launch a surprise attack, dragging the director into their pre-designed ambush, forcing him to comply, and thus succeeding in their conspiracy to directly elect a student council. We school were caught completely off guard, caught in the middle!"

"This is perfectly normal. The student council, as a self-governing organization of students, should be democratically elected by the students. What they're doing is reasonable and legal."

"Brother Keyou, in our country these days, what is done according to reason and law? Isn't this blatantly kicking over the school leaders and staging a coup?"

Xiao You's phone, slung across his waist, rang. He picked it up and answered, "Hello?... Oh, Yu Tou, what's the instruction?... Oh, I'm on my way right now. The intersection is congested, I'm helping to clear it..." As he spoke, he gestured wildly and shouted, "Hey! I'm talking to you, back up your bike... You, you stand behind the yellow line..."

Then I heard Da Yu yelling on the phone, "Others are lazy at home but work hard at outside jobs! Hurry back, there's a mission!"

"Is it Dayu? I'm here to talk to him..." The thin director tried to take the phone.

Xiao You quickly covered his mouth, turned off her phone, and mysteriously warned him, "You absolutely mustn't let him know I came here, understand?"

"I understand, I understand." The thin director nodded blankly, and only after seeing Xiao You leave did he mutter to himself, feeling something was amiss:

"What do I understand about myself?"
