Chapitre 25

Uncle Nine leaped down and joined Qiu Sheng in a fierce battle against the zombies.

Upon hearing the noise, security captain Awei and Ren Tingting carefully opened the door after hearing Uncle Jiu's voice. Seeing that it was temporarily safe, they ran over to help Wencai up and ran towards the entrance of the main room.

Jiang Fan stood there, taking in everything downstairs.

When Jiang Fan saw that Awei and the others wanted to open the door, he did not stop them, because he had already sensed that several auras, much weaker than the zombie in front of him, appeared outside the door.

As time went by,

When Jiang Fan saw the eight zombie bodies pinning down the zombie that was actually Old Master Ren, he avoided the broken wood on the stairs and walked to the wooden pillar with ropes controlling the beams and lamps. After Uncle Jiu used all his strength to knock it back with a stick, he loosened the knot.

"Smack!"

The oil from more than ten lamps was poured onto the zombie, and the flames ignited and grew stronger.

Seizing the opportunity, Jiang Fan quickly ran over and, before Qiu Sheng could lift the wine jar to smash the zombie, he raised the jar and smashed it down on the zombie covered in flames.

"Bang!"

The wine jar shattered, and the concentrated alcohol amplified the flames on the zombie's body several times over.

The zombie, now a fireball, roared and howled, futilely stretching out its bluish-purple arms covered in livid spots towards Ren Tingting. Finally, its body disintegrated and fell into the burning living room.

Uncle Nine and the others stood there silently watching the scene unfold before them.

Wen Cai and Awei's faces were full of expressions of relief after surviving a disaster.

As Ren Tingting listened to her grandfather's dying wails and saw that withered, black arm reaching out to her, she couldn't help but burst into tears of grief.

No one noticed that Jiang Fan, who had just finished off the menacing zombie, had an undisguised surprise hidden deep in his calm eyes. His guess was right after all; killing monsters could give him a power feedback!

Jiang Fan felt countless streams of energy drilling into his body through his pores, like small snakes slithering through his meridians, causing an unbearable tingling and inexplicable comfort. A feeling several times stronger than before arose spontaneously along with the ever-increasing power.

Jiang Fan didn't see it.

His originally tan skin became even whiter and more delicate, and the typical brownish pupils of an Easterner in his eyes subtly changed, turning as black as ink, captivating like a black hole.

Clench your fists

At this moment, Jiang Fan felt an inexhaustible power in his body, with a vast and magnificent aura in his chest. He opened his mouth to speak, but suddenly found a powerful energy rising from his chest and bursting out of his mouth. He tried to shut his mouth and hold it in, but it was too late.

"ah!"

A hearty roar echoed throughout the mortuary, and Uncle Jiu and the others stared at Jiang Fan with wide eyes and astonished expressions.

They never expected that this gentle and refined young master Jiang, who seemed to have very ordinary strength, would suddenly burst out with white mist. When the white mist dissipated, they saw that young master Jiang's face was flushed and his eyes were as black as millstones. A feeling of awe and fear arose in their hearts, and they were terrified!

Chapter Sixteen: Return

The alley was deep and narrow, with a few small, verdant trees outside its entrance, their branches laden with green leaves like canopies, casting patches of shade. The poor families in the northern part of the city couldn't afford to keep pets that were pampered even more than humans, nor did they have the inclination to do so. They only kept a yellow dog to guard their house, if they could afford it.

Without exception, every household in the alley with a yellow dog keeps their dog tied up in their yard to prevent any accidents. These days, not only do dogs not intentionally hurt people, but people also have designs on dog meat. It's common to see people cursing in the alley because their dogs have gone missing.

The sky was overcast.

A few dark clouds drifted by, and soon after, a light drizzle began to fall from the sky.

Pedestrians hurried along the street, shielding their heads with their hands as they made their way home. But before they could even wipe the raindrops from their faces, they heard the barking of dogs echoing through the alley.

The alley is not big.

There were only a few households living there, and when the dog barked, those households would immediately know that outsiders had come to the alley.

Several families who had lost their dogs thought a dog thief had come. The men in the family had learned from the experience of opening the door and scaring away a dog thief, so they all rolled up their sleeves and slowly climbed up the wooden ladder in the yard to the top of the wall, only their eyes showing as they scanned the narrow alley.

I only glanced at it.

The men in the courtyard came down the wooden ladder. They knew without even guessing that the person they saw was not a dog thief. Dog thieves usually have a roguish air about them, but the man outside, even though they only saw him once, was certain that he was not a dog thief.

What dog thief would be so magnanimous?

A man in a blue robe walked gracefully through the dark brick alley, holding a paper umbrella to shield himself from the drizzling rain. Because of the umbrella, the men couldn't see the face of the man in the blue robe, but his captivating noble bearing alone was enough to win the hearts of these poor people.

Jiang Fan, holding a paper umbrella, walked past the doors of each house. Unlike when he was being chased by those two bandits last time, this time Jiang Fan was calm as he walked through the alleys. With the help of the rain and the breeze, he strolled through the alleys, calming his internal energy.

The energy he gained from killing the zombie last night was much stronger than that from the female ghost. Jiang Fan not only felt his physical abilities improve several times over, but his innate sensory abilities also increased.

More importantly,

The energy I gained from killing the female ghost last time was completely gone after my physical abilities were improved. However, the energy I gained from eliminating the zombie this time, after greatly improving my physical abilities, still had some energy remaining in my chest cavity. And every three hours, it would automatically circulate through my limbs and bones before finally returning to my chest cavity.

With each cycle, Jiang Fan felt his power grow stronger. This change left him bewildered. After much thought, Jiang Fan could only temporarily conclude that the spiritual energy within his body was perhaps too domineering, directly opening up his meridians and transforming him into someone similar to a martial arts master or a cultivator.

At first, Jiang Fan thought his idea was a bit ridiculous; how could such a fantastical thing exist?

But after remembering what world he was in, Jiang Fan felt that his idea might be correct.

"This should be it."

Jiang Fan stopped in front of a door and looked at it quietly.

This was the same courtyard where Jiang Fan had passed by the crying child when he last went to the mortuary. The gate was closed, and there was no sound inside, as if the family was not there. However, Jiang Fan still stood there. With his hearing heightened to an unknown degree, he could hear the faint breathing of the child inside the courtyard.

Jiang Fan didn't hear what that woman was making last time, so she probably wasn't home.
