Chapitre 23

A young monk led her into a side room. Meng Wan went straight to the inner hall, where Madam Meng's memorial tablet was placed in the center. Meng Wan stepped forward, took out the pastries from the food box and placed them one by one before kneeling before the memorial tablet.

"mother..."

With a thousand words in her heart, she didn't know where to begin. Just looking at her mother's memorial tablet, tears fell from her eyes.

No matter how close her aunt was, she was not her biological mother. Otherwise, if her mother were still alive, she would not have ended up like that in her previous life, and she would not have no one to confide in in this life.

She kept muttering to herself, and after what seemed like an eternity, a soft knock on the door brought her back to her senses.

Thinking it was Xiaoyun'er who had finished playing and come over, she hurriedly wiped away her tears and went to open the door. But standing outside was a handsome young monk: "Miss Meng, it's getting chilly. The abbot was worried that you would get cold, so he sent me to bring you a pot of hot tea."

Meng Wan thanked him and accepted the gift. She looked at the young monk in front of her but found him somewhat unfamiliar. After all, she had come every year in previous years and had seen almost all the monks in the temple.

So he raised an eyebrow: "Young master, are you new here?"

The young monk was clearly taken aback for a moment, then chuckled dryly, "Yes, I've only been here for a few months."

As he spoke, he went into the inner room, poured tea for Meng Wan, and handed it to her, saying, "Miss Meng, please drink this tea while it's still hot to warm yourself up."

Although he was dressed as a monk, his speech was somewhat strange. Meng Wan paused for a moment, but didn't say much. She thanked him, took the teacup, and took a small sip.

Upon seeing this, the young monk's eyes flashed with an almost imperceptible smile before he took his leave and withdrew.

Meng Wan stared at his face the whole time, watching his departing figure. Then she glanced down at the teacup in her hand, her clear black and white eyes gradually narrowing, as if something was not quite right.

At the same time, the young monk left the separate courtyard.

"Second Miss, everything has been taken care of."

"Hmm, you saw her drink it with your own eyes?"

"Yes, I saw it with my own eyes."

"Alright." Meng Junyao narrowed her eyes, took out a silver ingot from her bosom and stuffed it into the man's hand. Her gaze fell on the courtyard, and a triumphant smile spilled from the corner of her lips: "Listen carefully to the sounds. When the time is right, go in. There's a heated kang in the inner room. You know what to do next, right?"

Poisonous Scheme (Part Two)

"Alright." Meng Junyao narrowed her eyes, took out a silver ingot from her bosom and stuffed it into the man's hand. Her gaze fell on the courtyard, and a triumphant smile spilled from the corner of her lips: "Listen carefully to the sounds. When the time is right, go in. There's a heated kang in the inner room. You know what to do next, right?"

"Yes, yes." The young monk's smile instantly turned greedy as he gripped the silver ingot, his whole body burning.

Meng Junyao also kept sneering.

How dare you compete with me for a man? I'll find a man to serve you properly and see how you'll face people after ruining your reputation, and how you'll cause trouble again!

--

Inside the room, Meng Wan felt something was amiss. Looking at the pot of tea on the table, she thought for a moment before pulling out a silver hairpin from her hair and inserting it into the teapot. Seeing that the spot that had been soaked in water had turned black, her expression suddenly changed.

Just as she guessed, it was poisonous!

But... why would that young monk, whom she had never met before, poison her? Could it be...?

Before her thoughts could even get to that point, a sudden heat surged through her body. That strange feeling spread throughout her entire being in an instant, causing Meng Wan to freeze abruptly.

Her body is still virgin, but her memories from her past life don't lie; this feeling is clearly one of arousal. Could it be... that the water contained an aphrodisiac?

Her whole body stiffened, and her expression suddenly changed.

Although she had only sipped the water with her lips as a precaution, it seemed that the dosage of the drug was not light, so even a small amount would be enough to poison her.

"Tap tap--"

Just as she was panicking, there was another knock on the door. Although the sound was faint, it still made Meng Wan's heart jump.

Did that young monk return? Did he calculate that she was already poisoned, and then deal with her?

There was no time to think further. She didn't even know how far the poison would take effect. The most important thing was to escape first.

She managed to stand up straight, suppressing the pounding in her heart, and headed towards the inner room. If she remembered correctly, there should be a back door, but after only two steps, her legs gave way, and she slumped against the wall.

"pain--"

She murmured something, and the door was pushed open, revealing the voice of the young monk from before.

Meng Wan instinctively shrank back, leaning against the corner of the wall and looking up at him with icy eyes: "What do you want to do?"

"Haha—" The young monk laughed wildly, walking step by step to Meng Wan's side. He reached out and hooked her pointed chin, forcing her to look at him. He lewdly smiled and said, "What can a man and a woman do? Doesn't Miss Meng know?"

"Get away, don't touch me!" His touch made Meng Wan feel nauseous, and she turned her face away abruptly. However, the heat all over her body almost made her lose control of her emotions. She could only clench her fists tightly, her fingertips digging into her palms. She felt a piercing pain, but she was completely unaware of it. It seemed that only such pain could bring her back to her senses.

"Haha, why are you enduring so much pain? I'll help you. Don't worry, I won't let you down."

His wicked smile was nauseating. Looking down at Meng Wan's flushed face, he felt a surge of excitement and almost couldn't resist stepping forward and pinning her down.

Meng Wan panicked completely, regretting that she shouldn't have sent everyone away just to speak with her mother alone. Otherwise, she wouldn't have given the villain an opportunity. Now, she could only desperately hold her hands in front of her chest to stop the man's actions, and then try her best to maintain her composure, speaking in a deep voice: "How much silver did you take from Meng Junyao? I'll pay double!"

Falling from the Sky (Part 1)

"I'll pay you double the amount of silver you received from Meng Junyao!"

It wasn't that she was overthinking things; she simply couldn't think of anyone else besides Meng Junyao.

The young monk laughed upon hearing this, his chest heaving violently and his shoulders trembling, his eyes filled with desire: "Miss Meng is indeed clever, but what I want now is no longer money."

A pair of lecherous eyes stared at Meng Wan, his smile growing increasingly lewd: "Look at Miss Meng's figure and looks. If I don't taste you today, I'm afraid I'll regret it for the rest of my life."

Meng Wan was startled and only then did she begin to regret her actions.
