Chapitre 8

"Two hundred million. But we've also submitted proposals to other banks, and they'll get back to us soon," Secretary Liu said dejectedly. The chairman had been planning this investment for two years, everything was ready, and the company had invested a lot of manpower and resources, all for this one move, but unexpectedly, this unexpected turn of events occurred.

"How much in total?" Song Qing's heart tightened. Two hundred million alone was already a considerable sum.

"Six hundred million."

Song Qing closed her eyes, looked at her mother sitting blankly to the side, turned around and went to the bathroom, closed the door, and then said, "Don't tell my father yet, I'll come to the company right away."

After hanging up, she couldn't help but comfort her mother, telling her not to make a fuss. In the end, it was all her fault. Her father was too strong-willed and competitive. Even after not seeing his daughter for ten years, he refused to admit defeat and insisted on achieving something great to impress her, which led to this situation.

But her father was always cautious and reliable; he wouldn't invest so much in a project that wasn't exceptional. If it were the project from yesterday, she could understand, but she never expected that her father would say with relief that the funding had been secured through this method.

She rushed to the company and immediately asked Secretary Liu to arrange a meeting for the colleagues in the new project planning team.

Originally, Song Jingmo had planned a grand welcome ceremony for her, so that everyone in the company would know she was back in style. Little did she expect it to turn out like this. After Secretary Liu gave a brief brief report, Song Qing had already sat down with a frown and asked someone to retrieve the investment budget documents sent to various banks.

The slides played out page by page, all perfectly logical and without a single flaw. The team members watched her intently, barely daring to breathe, afraid she would find some mistake in the investment proposal.

After all, they didn't know much about the future chairman.

"Don't worry, everyone. I will negotiate with the banks on this matter. The chairman is currently unwell, so please report directly to me if you have any issues." She smiled at everyone and stood up.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief and greatly admired the young lady's sense of responsibility in suddenly breaking into a smile.

As everyone whispered among themselves, they gradually left the conference room. Secretary Liu, observing their expressions, knew that Fuhua would soon be abuzz with excitement, everyone eager to see the eldest daughter of the Song family, who had encountered such a thorny issue upon taking office, and even more eager to see how she would handle this crisis.

"Secretary Liu, what is the reason for the bank's return of the proposal?" Song Qing sat in her father's chair, staring at the family photo of the four of them on the table. Her eyes were slightly red, perhaps because she hadn't slept well or had been frightened.

"I've been following up on this project, and the feedback from the bank has been very positive. Manager Xiao, who's in charge of this case, called me on Friday and said there were basically no problems. I don't know how I got this news, but he said the amount is too large and needs to be evaluated more carefully."

"This is not the style of a major bank." The bank was the largest single borrower they had ever lent money to, so Song Jingmo must have had a lot of confidence in them.

"Yes, Miss. I believe it won't be long before we hear news of rejections from major banks; they are unwilling to take the risk."

Song Qing nodded. This kind of chain reaction in the market is the most terrifying, especially in terms of loans.

"Connect me to Manager Xiao from the banking sector." She dialed the internal line.

Xiao Meng was restless in his office. Any phone call that morning was enough to make him jumpy. He couldn't help but complain about his boss, who had left him with such a mess. Everyone in the business world knew Song Jingmo's temper, and besides, this time, it was definitely their fault.

"Manager Xiao, second-tier position." The sweet voice of his secretary, Shirley, came through the desktop phone.

"Male or female?" he hesitated.

"Manager Xiao, it's a woman, and she's quite young." Shirley chuckled lightly, wondering if her boss had gotten involved in some romantic entanglement.

"Bring them in."

He visibly breathed a sigh of relief; with something this big, Song Jingmo would definitely call him personally.

"Hello, is this Manager Xiao from the Bank of Communications who is in charge of the Fuhua project?" A cold, unfamiliar female voice came through.

Upon hearing the name Fuhua, Xiao Meng wiped away a cold sweat. "Yes, may I ask who this is?"

"I am Song Qing from Fuhua. Are you free today?" Song Qing raised his wrist to check the time.

"I……"

"If it's inconvenient for you, I can come to the bank to find you. I'll have my secretary check the time with you later, okay?"

Song Qing spoke rapidly, perhaps with an infectious quality, and Xiao Meng mumbled a confused "hmm."

The other end of the line slammed down the phone.

Xiao Meng threw down the phone, clutching his head and groaning. This Song Qing seemed to be someone not to be trifled with, but... at least it was better than dealing with Song Jingmo.

Chapter Eight: A Daughter of a Noble Family OR A Girl from a Humble Family

She shouldn't forget him, just as he has never forgotten her for a single day in the past ten years.

Yan Xunan

Xiao Meng hadn't expected that the woman who had come by invitation would be like this.

At first glance, he thought she was a young woman who had just graduated, though she wasn't as boisterous and pretentious as many young women these days. But after they shook hands and sat down, her sharp and incisive words made him regret underestimating her.

This slender and beautiful woman exuded determination and decisiveness. She would not easily admit defeat and had a very strong sense of self-respect. However, he felt as if he had seen her somewhere before... but he couldn't quite place her. He couldn't find any similarities or points of connection.

While he was thinking, Song Qing had already stood up, her face full of anger.

"Manager Xiao, your attitude towards this issue has made me very disappointed with Yinkong Investment. However, this proposal has had a significant impact on our company. I thought you would give me a reasonable explanation, but obviously, I have to find your superior to coordinate this issue."

With that, she got up and left; she no longer wanted to waste time on such a useless person. Now, a whole host of troubles awaited her.

"Miss Song, haven't we met somewhere before?" Xiao Meng was still caught up in the question he had just been thinking about, unable to process her anger.

Song Qing suddenly stopped in her tracks, clearly furious. She took a deep breath, relaxed her shoulders, and walked straight out the door, ignoring everyone else.

"Damn it!" She kicked a small stone at her feet. She had never been this angry in all these years.

She immediately thought of Mr. Yi from the banquet; they were all strange people. Linchuan was too far away from her, and because of this, she actually lost the calm and rationality she had shown at Haotian Chain Stores.

She thought she was there to solve a problem, but instead she encountered a project manager who looked completely lost and unfocused. She began to wonder what it was that made the bank so big.

"Ouch!" A cry of surprise rang out. She was startled and saw a girl squatting on the ground, her feet touching the ground, with a small stone that she had just kicked lying next to her.

"Miss, are you alright? I'm so sorry, I didn't see you." She carefully helped her up, feeling remorseful.

Shen Xing was in so much pain that tears welled up in her eyes. Her brows were furrowed as she looked at the lunchbox that had rolled to the side, heartbroken.
