Just as his consciousness was fading, he heard footsteps jump out from behind him, kick him, and yell at her, "Qingyan, where did this lecherous fellow come from? How dare you harass a girl like this in public!"

Her voice was clear and cheerful, with a hint of annoyance, "Who knows? It's so strange."

A voice shouted from the other side, "Hurry, Qingyan, over here! We're going to be late!"

"Coming!" she called out.

Chapter 125: [Side Story] Part 4

Cheng Jue's Story: The Past is Grief, Part Four

He panicked and tried to get up to grab her, but he had no strength at all. He could only watch helplessly as footsteps rushed away. His heart ached terribly, and he finally fainted.

Near another entrance to the auditorium, away from the flowerbeds, several well-known princes on campus were searching around. "Hey, have you seen Cheng Jue?"

"Ouyang Chengjue? I don't see him."

Ouyang Chengjue is the mysterious prince of this university. The performance by several princes that night was canceled because Chengjue was missing. His friends were indignant and shouted that they wanted to beat him up, but no one really cared. Chengjue often disappeared suddenly for no reason and then reappeared a few days later, so they were already used to it.

Cheng Jue slept alone under the low evergreen shrubs on the grass all night, and didn't wake up until the early hours of the next morning.

After waking up, he activated the time-space medium and returned to his own country, feeling depressed.

For the first time, he began to confront a question: no matter how unforgettable or serious his encounter was, it might have been just a small interlude in her life. Her response at the time might have been just a casual joke, never taken seriously.

She forgot him, as if she had forgotten a trivial matter.

He was depressed for a long time and didn't touch the thing that led him to meet her, the culprit behind it all—the time-space medium.

He drowned his sorrows in alcohol, and he began to accept women without hesitation, even approaching the concubine his parents had arranged for him. He tried to numb himself, hoping to forget her, but each time he would run away in a sorry state just before they were about to consummate their relationship.

A sliver of hope remained in his heart: if, if the day ever came when he could finally realize his dreams, would she mind that he had been with other women?

He could not sever his longing and yearning for her; he still spent his days and nights in her world.

Two years have passed in the blink of an eye.

He drove past a supermarket and suddenly felt a strong urge to stop and take a look. He spotted her immediately, standing idly by the raffle box.

He still couldn't control himself and rushed over immediately, grabbing her hand without thinking. She was startled, then got angry, "Hey, there are so many prize tickets here, why are you taking mine? Go pick one yourself!"

He gazed greedily at her lively face, her half-grown phoenix eyes incredibly bright, her slightly pouting red lips, glistening with desire. His hand involuntarily rose, wanting to touch her, when suddenly a sharp pain shot through the back of his foot. He cried out, hopping up on one leg, "You...you...you..."

Oh no, she stepped on my foot again! She was wearing high heels, her foot must be swollen by now.

She wrinkled her nose, as if to scoff disdainfully, or perhaps to boast triumphantly, and waved her hand, "Who told you to try and steal from me? Serves you right!"

In an instant, the little girl from his childhood, separated by years of dusty years, seemed to be walking towards him again, with her playful short hair, a few smudges of mud on her face, and her rosy cheeks. She held up her small, white hand, pointing it directly at his nose, "Who told you to take my things? You deserved it!"

The gloom of many years dissipated, and he felt an unprecedented joy. For a moment, he just wanted to burst into laughter.

She turned around to scratch the lottery ticket and disappeared into the crowd.

A sweet smile played on his lips as he inhaled sharply, grimacing as he shuffled out the door and into the car. The supermarket had only one entrance; she would definitely come out from there.

That day, he secretly followed her in his car. When she got home and went upstairs, his palms were already covered in a fine layer of cold sweat. He was so nervous that he almost forgot to breathe. He was afraid that in the blink of an eye, another 16 years would separate them.

After returning home, he thought about it for several days and nights, and finally decided that he could not let go, he could not lose her, he had to hold on to her tightly, and hold on to the happiness he had longed for for so many years.

Even if she has completely forgotten, even if she never took it seriously...

She will never know how clear and dazzling the starry sky was that night when he sat in the car, gazing up at her house with a wistful and greedy look.

Chapter 126: An Unexpected Incident

I was being held so tightly by Cheng Jue that I could hardly breathe, but I was also affected by his sorrowful emotions. For a moment, I felt an unusual heaviness in my heart, and I forgot to struggle, just staring blankly. Just as I felt it was getting hard to breathe, I suddenly felt my body loosen. Cheng Jue let go of my hands, froze for a moment, and then fell to the ground with a thud.

Huh? What happened to him?

I quickly squatted down, somewhat surprised.

"Cheng Jue, Cheng Jue?"

I reached out to push her, but Cheng Jue's body was stiff and he didn't move at all. Only his face suddenly filled with intense anger. His eyes were wide open, and when he looked at me, his eyes were full of embarrassment and shame.

I was taken aback, my lips twitching slightly. Was he acting like this? Could it be...?

He asked tentatively, "You...were you acupunctured?"

Cheng Jue blinked, both annoyed and furious.

I couldn't help but chuckle, but under his fiery gaze, I dared not show it. I cleared my throat and said, "Uh, well, you should know, I don't know how to release pressure points."

Cheng Jue's eyes were blazing with anger, and he rolled his eyes.

I turned around, trying my best to suppress a laugh, and said, "Xiao Zheng, find a few brothers from the gang nearby. Have them help escort Marshal Cheng back to the inn."

Xiao Zheng nodded with a grin and was about to leave when Cheng Jue's eyes suddenly showed horror, his anxiety overflowing. He blinked frantically, as if trying to convey some message to me.

What was he doing? I was stunned, wondering what he meant, when suddenly someone grabbed me around the waist and lifted me up, landing me on the roof of the opposite building.

A hand gently encircled my waist from behind. I didn't even look at the person behind me; my gaze was fixed on the spot where I had just been standing. There, a row of small throwing knives, arranged in a cute plum blossom shape, were stuck in the ground, their tips gleaming with a chilling light.

My lips twitched, and a hedgehog-like figure covered in throwing knives suddenly flashed into my mind. I couldn't help but shudder, then flew into a rage. Damn it, who is this? If someone hadn't saved me, I would be dead right now!

Cheng Jue was still lying on the ground, looking over from afar with deep fear and lingering dread in his eyes. A warm feeling welled up in my heart. This guy was actually quite nice; perhaps he could be a good friend.

As the throwing knife flew, several men in black jumped out from the crowd on the street, wielding swords and knives, and pounced on Cheng Jue, who was lying on the ground, and Xiao Zheng, who was stunned.
