Kapitel 14

There were also Mo Yushen's clothes in the walk-in closet of the third-floor bedroom. He found his pajamas and went to take a shower.

Xi Jia didn't forget to revise her script, sitting at her desk by the window and turning on her computer.

A dozen minutes later, Mo Yushen came out of the bathroom.

Xi Jia was focused on her computer screen when she heard the voice. She turned around and said, "Go to sleep. I have to work overtime."

Mo Yushen was not sleepy. He leaned against the headboard and read a book, occasionally glancing at Xi Jia.

He couldn't figure out Xi Jia's ways. She was so enthusiastic just now, but now she wants to work overtime.

Chapter Nine

Xi Jia revised "Falling in Love with the Stars of the Deep Sea" from scratch. After reading more than ten pages, she only changed one punctuation mark and one typo. She couldn't see anything wrong with the plot or characters.

She leaned back in her chair, rubbed her eyes, and spun around 360 degrees in the swivel chair.

"When I retire from the military, I'll switch jobs and become a full-time screenwriter at a film and television company," she told Mo Yushen.

After saying that, I felt it was unnecessary, since he didn't care anyway.

Mo Yushen followed up on Xi Jia's question with, "Where to?"

Xi Jia: "Have you heard of Xinglan Films?"

They rarely chat so calmly.

He's not in the industry and might not know much about film and television companies, so Xi Jia added, "You might not have heard of Xinglan Film and Television, but you should have heard of Zhou Mingqian, right? He's a major shareholder of Xinglan."

Xi Jia had long forgotten that Mo Yushen had a friend in the film and television industry, and for this friend, he even made a special trip to the mountains to visit Mr. Yue.

Mo Yushen closed the letter. "Want to cooperate with Zhou Mingqian?"

Xi Jia nodded; probably every screenwriter would want to work with him.

Not only screenwriters, but also actors all want to work with him.

"Zhou Mingqian didn't like my script; he probably disliked it."

Ye Qiu said that Xinglan is a dangerous place and advised me against going.

"My memory is so bad, to put it bluntly, it's no different from that of an idiot. I'm just someone who gets bullied."

Xi Jia felt she had talked too much.

She sat down and continued revising the script.

Mo Yushen looked at Xi Jia's profile. The dim yellow light from the desk lamp illuminated her face, revealing her long eyelashes and upturned nose. She was quiet and absorbed in the moment.

Her life was mostly monotonous.

I train during the day and write scripts when I get home at night.

Mo Yushen withdrew his gaze, said nothing more, turned off the floor lamp on his side, and lay down.

Xi Jia stared at the script for a while, but still had no clue. She felt it was perfect, so she turned off the computer.

Mo Yushen lay down with his back to Xi Jia. After Xi Jia climbed into bed, she felt cold and lonely. This was how she and Mo Yushen used to get along.

She patted his shoulder, "How am I supposed to rest my head on your arm like this? Don't you want to give me your arm to rest on?"

He looked like he was looking for trouble.

The gentle Xi Jia from just now has vanished without a trace.

Mo Yushen didn't argue with her. He turned around and extended his arm to her.

Xi Jia turned off the lights, and the room instantly fell into darkness.

She didn't lie down with her back to Mo Yushen, but instead faced him, gently wrapping her arms around his neck and pressing her whole body against his chest.

They were very affectionate, like a couple deeply in love.

Their breaths mingled, and Mo Yushen felt very uncomfortable.

Since their marriage, he and Xi Jia have lived separately and have not disturbed each other.

The most intimate moment was last time at the hotel in the mountains, when we cuddled together and fell asleep.

He raised his hand and patted Xi Jia's arm, "Let go, you can't breathe."

Xi Jia not only didn't loosen her grip, but she pressed herself even tighter.

Mo Yushen didn't say anything more and let her hold him.

Dry wood ignites a raging fire.

The next second, Xi Jia's soft lips came closer, and then she gently bit Mo Yushen's lips with her teeth.

It feels tingly and numb.

Soon, Xi Jia released Mo Yushen, saying, "Goodnight." She tried to push Mo Yushen's arm away, but couldn't, as Mo Yushen tightened his grip.

Xi Jia was very familiar with his cool and refreshing scent. Unconsciously, she relaxed and buried her face in his neck, gently rubbing against him as if she were being affectionate.

If Xi Jia still remembered the details of their past intimate encounters, she would sense that Mo Yushen was different this time, showing much more patience.

After calming down, Xi Jia was too tired to move, so she closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

Mo Yushen was afraid that when he woke up the next morning, the scene from the hotel would repeat itself.

Thankfully, early in the morning, Xi Jia woke up, looked at him, then leaned into his arms, reaching out to hug his waist, "Good morning, husband."

"Um."

I didn't treat him as a one-night stand.

Even though she can remember who he is now, the sudden forgetting on the mountain that time was a bad omen. As for recent memories, she has none; she basically doesn't remember most things the next day.

Memories from further back, from last year and the year before, are also slowly fading.

What he feared was that after a while, she wouldn't remember the people and events from three, five, or even ten years ago, until all her memories became a blank.

Mo Yushen gathered his thoughts, glanced at the time, and said, "If you have nothing else to do, you can go back to sleep. I have to go to the company."

Boring, disappointing, and clueless. Xi Jia pushed him away, wrapped the blanket around herself, turned over, and went to sleep on the other side.

Half of her back and one leg were exposed; her skin was like cream, but covered in bruises.

These were all left behind by Mo Yushen last night.

The sounds of running water, rustling, footsteps, and finally, the sound of the door closing in the bathroom.

Twenty minutes later, Mo Yushen left the bedroom.

Xi Jia couldn't sleep, so she threw off the covers and got up. She still had to go to the horse farm for training today.

By the time she came downstairs, Mo Yushen's car had already driven out of the yard.

She took a long time to climb each step, listening to the phone.

Ji Zhenghe called to ask when his daughter would return to the mountains for further treatment. He assumed Xi Jia's trip was just for submitting a script, and since Xinglan had already announced the results, she should return to the mountains and not delay her treatment.

"Jiajia?"

There was no answer on the phone, so Ji Zhenghe called out.

Xi Jia turned her gaze away from the courtyard. "I'm listening."

Ji Zhenghe: "When are you going back to your grandma's place? I'll have Uncle Liang arrange a car to pick you up from the airport there."

Xi Jia has no plans to go back for the time being. "Dad, I'll let you know when I need to. It will be next month."

Ji Zhenghe roughly guessed it; it was because he was reluctant to leave the horse farm again. "Jia, listen to your father..."

She was interrupted halfway through her sentence by Xi Jia, "Dad, I know what I'm doing." After a few seconds, she assured him, "I'll go back to the mountains after this tour, and I won't participate in any other events this year."

"If one day I really can't ride a horse anymore, life will mean nothing to me."

She knew she would have to retire sooner or later, but she hadn't thought about it in the last two years.

They're still young; they can continue to compete on the field.

Ji Zhenghe remained silent, rubbing his temples vigorously.

He dared not tell his daughter that the illness would affect her balance, and that one day she might not even be able to ride a horse anymore, let alone compete.

Ji Zhenghe changed the subject, "I heard from your grandmother that you went to Mr. Yue's house, and Mr. Yue gave you a lot of books."

When talking about Mr. Yue, Xi Jia's tone became much more relaxed. She told her father everything she could remember, even though she had long forgotten most of the details. However, she thought that was all there was to it.

Ji Zhenghe was saying this to Xi Jia, and also to comfort himself, "When I don't want to ride horses anymore, I'll become Master Yue's apprentice. It's rare that you two get along so well."

He then remembered, "Your script wasn't selected, was it? When you go back to the mountains this time, ask Mr. Yue for some pointers. Maybe you'll suddenly have a breakthrough and know how to revise it."

Xi Jia seemed to understand something; that was indeed true.

Since there was nothing else to do in the mountains, I decided to write a script.

Ji Zhenghe: "Grandpa and Mr. Yue are close friends. If you really want Mr. Yue to give you some pointers on writing, it's just a matter of your grandma saying a word."

This was exactly what Xi Jia wanted to do. "I'll go to the mountains in the middle of next month."

It was late at night for Ji Zhenghe. He told Xi Jia to take care of herself and not to overwork herself, "Dad is resting. If you stay up late, your mom will start nagging me again."

"Dad, when are you coming back to China?"

"It will take some more days."

"What about the company?"

“You have your eldest brother and second brother.”

Xi Jia was relieved and urged her father to go to sleep.

After the call ended, Xi Jia leisurely went downstairs.

Today is another beautiful day, with not a cloud in the sky.

Mo's Building.

Mo Yushen leaned back on the sofa by the floor-to-ceiling window, sipping his coffee.

He stayed up very late last night and spent the whole night cuddling with Xi Jia, so he didn't sleep very well. As soon as he got to the office this morning, he made himself a cup of coffee.
