Chapitre 48

Ying Yunsheng noticed that Ji Li liked to call him "Ying Tongxue" whenever he teased him, his voice mixed with a lazy, teasing tone that could send chills down anyone's spine.

What was originally a rather unfamiliar form of address seemed to become some kind of ambiguous secret when spoken by the other person.

To be honest, this appearance was very different from his usual gentle and proper demeanor.

But it was only at this moment that Ying Yunsheng could feel that the other person was real.

Ji Li found clean sheets and blankets and was about to move them to the guest room when the other person took them from her as soon as she reached for them.

Ying Yunsheng, wrapped in a thick quilt, had his view blocked, so he poked his head out to look at him: "Which room?"

"The one next to the living room."

Ji Li turned on the light and pulled off the original bed sheet.

Ying Yunsheng laid out the new bed sheet, put on the quilt, and took out the test paper from his schoolbag.

Ji Li blinked: "You're really planning to write it?"

Ying Yunsheng unscrewed the pen cap: "I still haven't finished half of the test paper I did before."

Ji Li didn't offer any advice like "It's too late, do it tomorrow," but simply said, "There are tables and chairs in the study next door, go there and write."

One thing Ying Yunsheng liked about Ji Li was that although he was very strict with himself, he never used his own standards to judge others. For example, back in Tingfeng Lane, even though Ji Li knew about his family's messy affairs, he never scolded his parents for not raising him or lectured him for not resisting and deserving his fate. The other party would only bandage him when he was injured and give him a piece of chocolate when he felt bitter.

Ji Li has always maintained a regular schedule, and this was far beyond his normal rest time. He fell asleep shortly after going to bed.

While writing the final major question, Ying Yunsheng heard the sound of the washing machine outside his room beeping.

Ji Li was still asleep and didn't hear it.

After finishing the questions, Ying Yunsheng put away his pen and test paper, went outside to hang up the washed clothes, and then turned off the lights.

When passing Ji Li's room, Ying Yunsheng stopped, afraid that opening the door would wake him up. He simply pressed his forehead against the door, as if trying to hear the soft breathing inside through the wooden door.

He whispered, "Goodnight."

.

The next day, when Qiu Gu was patrolling the classrooms of the second-year high school students during the morning self-study session, he turned around and caught Ji Li and Ying Yunsheng, who were both late, in the stairwell.

He stared at the two people standing in a row in front of him, and felt his eyelids start twitching again: "You two... what's going on now?"

Before Ji Li could come up with an excuse, Ying Yunsheng spoke up: "I'm sorry, teacher."

Ying Yunsheng said, "I stayed up too late doing practice problems last night and didn't get up this morning."

Qiu Gu wasn't so easily fooled: "You can't do it during the day, you have to stay up all night?"

Ying Yunsheng didn't try to be subtle, but as long as he softened his voice, it would unconsciously remind people of the pitiful little guy huddled in the corner: "I'm afraid I'll fall behind."

Qiu Gu... couldn't continue his tirade, so he could only turn his head and look in the other direction: "What about you?"

Ji Li told the truth: "I didn't stay at school last night, I stayed at home."

Qiu Gu's expression immediately tensed up: "Why did you take leave? Are you feeling unwell?"

Ji Li simply said, "It's nothing."

Unfortunately, Qiu Gu's train of thought had already gone astray. After asking a few more questions and receiving negative answers to all of them, he was still worried and waved for them to hurry back to the classroom.

As the end of the semester approached, everyone was busy reviewing. Ji Li entered the classroom through the back door without attracting much attention, except for being glanced at several times by his deskmate, Jian Mingyuan.

It was a Saturday, and after the fifth period in the afternoon, the entire teaching building was deserted.

Ying Yunsheng carried his schoolbag to the first floor and pushed open the door to the first classroom.

Ji Li was still sitting in his seat.

The experimental class has one more class on Saturdays than the regular class. Lin Chengshuang has also had a tutor hired by her mother this semester. She is not allowed to linger outside the school after school every day, so the two of them don't actually walk together most of the time.

Because Ji Li had to be the last one to leave the classroom key, she got into the habit of finishing her homework while the classroom was still full.

This wasn't Ying Yunsheng's first time here. He had initially come downstairs and passed by the other person in the classroom alone. After asking why, he sat down and did his homework with him.

Then there was a second, a third, and a fourth time.

He didn't say why, and Ji Li didn't ask. Even if he was occasionally efficient and finished his homework before everyone in the classroom left, he would stay where he was and wait for the other person to come and let him know.

Like an unspoken agreement, it was written on the desk under the setting sun, quietly fermenting among the pages of books.

Ying Yunsheng pulled out the chair in front of Ji Li and looked him straight in the eye, only to find that the other man's expression was not good: "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

Ji Li shook his head: "I just didn't sleep well."

He rarely stays up late, but he only went to bed an hour late yesterday, which resulted in him being listless in class all day today.

This is also why I often oversleep and am late in the morning.

As for Ying Yunsheng, he had almost no concept of the passage of time outside of his phone because he couldn't set an alarm without a wake-up call. Even though he tried to move as quickly as possible after waking up, he still missed the start of morning self-study.

Ying Yunsheng looked closely and confirmed that the other person was indeed not feeling unwell: "Didn't you take a nap at noon?"

"I've taken some supplements, but I'm still sleepy."

"If you're not in a rush to go home, why don't you take a nap now?"

Ji Li laughed: "You're just going to watch from the sidelines?"

Ying Yunsheng clearly misunderstood him: "I won't take advantage of someone in distress."

"real?"

Ying Yunsheng assured: "I will not engage in any inappropriate intimate behavior before we establish a relationship."

Ji Li: "So you only kissed my forehead at the hospital?"

“Uh…” Ying Yunsheng was dumbfounded.

He finally realized where he had given himself away.

After realizing what had happened, she was furious: "You were pretending to be asleep back then!"

Ying Yunsheng was somewhat traditional in this regard. Back in the hospital, he had overcome countless psychological barriers before daring to touch her, but he didn't have the guts to take her first kiss. Afterwards, he even cursed himself for a long time.

Who knew that the other party would still be sober this time?

Now that it's been exposed, his voice rose, but his anger subsided; he was mainly annoyed and putting on a show of bravado.

Ji Li wasn't afraid of him at all, and repeated his words with a smile: "Wouldn't you take advantage of someone in distress?"

Ying Yunsheng was practically burning up.

Ji Li decided to stop while she was ahead: "You do your homework, I'm going to take a nap."

After he finished speaking, he put down his pen and lay down on the table.

Once Ying Yunsheng was out of his sight, like someone who had just drowned and was finally able to breathe, the heat on his face gradually subsided before he quietly rummaged through his bag to take out his weekend homework.

The curtains on the window next to my seat were broken, and the glass window was half open. The campus was quiet in the evening. Suddenly, the clouds were blown away by the wind, and the light of dusk shone down, giving my hair a golden edge.

Ying Yunsheng would glance at the side as usual after writing a question, then suddenly stop writing.

Ji Li probably felt the light shining on her eyelids while she was asleep, and her eyelashes trembled slightly as if she was not used to it.

Ying Yunsheng looked up and didn't see the blackout curtain that should have been hanging in front of the window. He picked up the test paper and pen, stood up, and with a push from the windowsill, sat down.

The windowsill was too narrow, and the tiles were cold and hard; it wasn't a suitable place for a person to sit.

However, the advantage was that the moment he went up, his shadow stretched out instantly, easily encompassing the person at the desk by the window.

Ying Yunsheng saw the other person relax his brow before he lowered his head again, placed the test paper on his lap, and continued solving the problem.

.

"It's just that I forgot a test paper... Okay, I'll go check, maybe the classroom door isn't even closed yet."

Cui Zhuoyue walked into the teaching building with her phone in her hand. As she passed through the corridor, before she could even tell whether the classroom door was locked or unlocked, she saw someone sitting on the windowsill.

She didn't recognize him at first, and took half a step into the front door out of habit, but then suddenly stopped.

The first thing that caught her eye was a figure slumped over a desk. She saw him almost every day, and even though only half of his face was visible, she recognized him at a glance.

Then came the person sitting on the windowsill, with their back to the direction the door was opening.

A gust of wind blew in his face, and Ji Li subconsciously pulled his arm in, a few strands of hair falling forward and obscuring his eyes.

Ying Yunsheng put down his pen, leaned over with his hand on the edge of the table, and gently blew on it.

Her hair was brushed aside.

Ying Yunsheng had just straightened up when he suddenly seemed to sense something and abruptly turned his head to look at the front door.

There was only the figure of a girl fleeing in panic in the corridor.

Cui Zhuoyue left the school gate like a lost soul, and her phone rang again.

The other person asked bluntly: "Did you get the test paper?"

Cui Zhuoyue: "Ah."

"Huh? What do you mean? Is the classroom door still open?"

"ah."

“Uh…” Cui Zhuoyue’s mind was filled with images of what she had just seen and the high-rise buildings on the campus forum. She hesitated for a long time between the thoughts of “I’m dreaming” and “I’m going crazy”: “Baby.”

The person on the other end asked, puzzled, "What?"

Cui Zhuoyue considered for a moment: "What do you think of me... how do I look?"

"Uh..." the other person said coldly, "You're crazy."

Cui Zhuoyue breathed a sigh of relief: "Then that's normal."

"What the hell?"

"Otherwise, how would I have seen the dimensional barrier break?"

"Uh..." What the heck?
