Chapter Five: Campus Robbery

Author: Xiao Tianyi

Chapter Five: The Campus Robbery "Fusheng, what do you want to eat today? Sister Zhenzhen will cook for you." Wang Zhenzhen asked Fusheng with a smile, completely unaware of the fear in Fusheng's eyes. "Sister Zhenzhen, you've worked so hard these past few days. Why don't you rest for a day? Dad and I will just eat whatever we want." Fusheng looked up and secretly glanced at Wang Zhenzhen's face, his little hand touching his stomach. Remembering the stomachache he'd had these past few days, his face turned pale.

Since Kuang Tianyou and Fusheng moved into Jiajia Building, Wang Zhenzhen seems to have taken a liking to Kuang Tianyou. Seeing that the two never cook, she started cooking for them under the pretext of malnutrition. Fusheng, that clever little devil—no, more like an old fox—wanted to give the two a chance to get closer. He praised the food, making Zhenzhen very happy, and so she cooked for them every day. Kuang Tianyou couldn't refuse her, so he had to comply. The direct consequence was that after each meal, the two would rush to the bathroom (zombies feed on blood, eating anything else would give them diarrhea). Today, hearing that Wang Zhenzhen was going to cook again, Fusheng, worried about his stomach, quickly declined. Wang Zhenzhen, thinking Fusheng was concerned for her, laughed and said, "It's okay, I'm not tired. You two shouldn't always eat instant noodles. When we get home, I'll make you your favorite West Lake Vinegar Fish."

"Oh no, looks like I'm going to have to fight with my older brother You for the toilet again today. I really brought this on myself." Fusheng thought to himself as he walked with his head down.

"Fusheng, wait for me!" A little girl chased after him, panting. "Fusheng, why are you walking so fast? Didn't we agree to go home together?"

"Liu Ting, weren't you supposed to be leaving with your mother today?" Fusheng asked, seeing that she was alone.

"I don't know why Mom didn't come to pick me up today." After hearing this, Wang Zhenzhen said, "Liu Ting, if you leave like this, your mother will be very worried because she can't find you. How about this, Fusheng and I will stay here with you and wait for your mother, okay?"

"Thank you, Teacher Wang."

The students left the school in twos and threes, and in the end, only the three of them remained at the school gate.

After waiting for a while, Liu Ting's mother still hadn't arrived, so Wang Zhenzhen decided to take her home with Fusheng. Just as they stepped out of a small alley, a man suddenly appeared. He grabbed Liu Ting, holding a fruit knife to her neck in his other hand.

"Let her go, what are you doing?" Wang Zhenzhen was stunned by this sudden event.

"This is none of your business. I don't want to hurt you. Get out of my way." Wang Zhenzhen carefully examined the middle-aged man in front of her. He was the kind of person who would easily blend into a crowd and go unnoticed. He had an ordinary appearance, but it was clear that he was destitute. His once pristine white shirt was now stained. His stubble was at least half a centimeter long, clearly unshaven for days. His eyes were bloodshot and his gaze was vacant.

“Sir, we can talk things over. She’s just a child. You’re going to scare her like this.” Liu Ting was initially stunned, but upon hearing this, she burst into tears.

"Hmph, she was terrified. My son is seriously ill and still in bed. I've worked myself to the bone to earn money to treat him. But her father fired me. My son won't survive, and I'll make sure he loses his daughter too." After saying this, he led Liu Ting into a nearby high-rise building and went to the top floor.

"Officer Liu, is there something you need?" Kuang Tianyou asked as soon as he entered the office. Experience told him that there must be another case, otherwise Officer Liu wouldn't have called him. "Kuang Tianyou, I just received a tip that a Chinese man is holding a little girl hostage in a building near Shengyuan Elementary School. Go and handle it. The little girl's father is my cousin, so be careful not to hurt my niece."

"Don't worry, Mr. Liu, I know what to do."

On the rooftop, the middle-aged man and Liu Ting were on the street-facing side, surrounded by police officers who had rushed to the scene after being alerted. Wang Zhenzhen and Fusheng watched them nervously.

"How is it?" Kuang Tianyou asked the police officers present.

"We've already notified the child's parents, and they should be here soon," the uniformed police officer replied.

"Sir, we can resolve any issues gradually. Please put down the knife first." Kuang Tianyou tried to persuade the middle-aged man, fearing he might hurt the child.

“I don’t care, call Liu Jiang, or I’ll die with her. Don’t come any closer, or I’ll jump. I’ve seen this on TV too many times. You’re trying to distract me so other police officers can come and rescue her. Don’t think I’m stupid.” Kuang Tianyou glared angrily at the approaching police officers. “You all step back. I need to speak with this gentleman alone.”

“Sir, I won’t stop you if you want to die, but think about it, if you jump from such a high building, you will die a terrible death. Your brains will splatter out, and your bones will be broken.” Kuang Tianyou vividly described the scene of death.

"Stop talking." The middle-aged man was clearly frightened.

"And now that you're dead, are you just going to abandon your son and let him lie in bed waiting to die? Is that the result you wanted?"

“I’m useless, I can’t save my son, but even if my son dies, I will make Liu Jiang’s daughter die with him.”

"Trust me, I can help you. I can talk to Liu Jiang and he won't fire you; he can let your child see a doctor."

"No, Liu Jiang won't agree. I kidnapped his daughter, how could he not fire me?"

"You're wrong. I promise you right now. As long as you release my daughter, I absolutely will not fire you," a man said as he walked out of the stairwell.
