Chapter Fourteen: Painstaking Efforts for You
Author: Xiao Tianyi
Uncle Qiu rolled his eyes at Kuang Tianyou, then turned to look at Kuang Huashi and said meaningfully, "Tianyou, this case is indeed a bit tricky. Since the other party can control walking corpses, they must also have many powerful evil spells. You are good at catching thieves, but dealing with evil spells is beyond the capabilities of ordinary police officers like you."
Kuang Tianyou glanced at Kuang Huashi, who was listening intently to their conversation. "Is there really no way out?" Uncle Qiu stared at Kuang Tianyou and said, "It's not entirely hopeless. Since they're using evil magic, we can use Taoist magic to subdue them. The zombies are completely under human control; once we subdue the sorcerer, everything will be resolved."
Upon hearing this, Kuang Tianyou looked at Uncle Qiu with a sly grin. Uncle Qiu, being a shrewd old man, immediately guessed what he was up to and quickly stated, "Don't bother me. I'm too old to risk having my old bones torn apart by walking corpses. You should go find Xiaoling. The Ma family's Demon-Subduing Curse is the nemesis of this kind of evil magic."
When Kuang Tianyou heard that he had to find Ma Xiaoling, he was at his wit's end. "Uncle Qiu, you know that Ma Xiaoling and I are incompatible. We always argue every time we meet. If you want me to go find that fierce tigress, you might as well kill me."
Uncle Qiu chuckled upon hearing this, saying with schadenfreude, "Xiao Ling has always been very gentle. You must have offended her. I don't know anything about your affair. The one who tied the knot must untie it. You should resolve it yourself. I've already exhausted myself performing the ritual today and need to rest." Uncle Qiu was kicking him while he was down, subtly issuing an order to leave. Clearly, he wanted to see a good show.
Left with no other option, Kuang Tianyou left the shrine with Kuang Huashi, and the two drove back to Jiajia Building. "Is there something you want to say?" Kuang Tianyou, who was driving, noticed Kuang Huashi hesitate several times in the rearview mirror and couldn't help but ask. Seeing that Kuang Tianyou had asked her first, Kuang Huashi finally spoke up, saying what had been on her mind for so long. "Mr. Kuang, how do you know this case wasn't committed by a human? Did you just make that deduction based on the scene?"
Kuang Tianyou's face remained expressionless. "I saw the crime scene that day and felt that many things were beyond human capability. Later, I thought of several mysterious cases from the past, and I suspected that there might be some things we couldn't accept. In order to find out the truth, I sneaked into the hospital and got some general information from Xiao Zhao. Xiao Zhao was terrified, so he didn't explain very clearly, but I already knew that these unbelievable things couldn't be known by other police officers, so I had the doctor refuse any visits to Xiao Zhao. Moreover, I knew that if I rashly told you everything, you wouldn't believe me, so after thinking it over, I brought you here to Uncle Qiu."
Kuang Huashi exclaimed, "Ah! So you went to the hospital a while ago. Then who are Uncle Qiu and Ma Xiaoling that he mentioned?"
"Uncle Qiu and Ma Xiaoling are both psychics. Although they live in this world, they come into contact with things from another world. I have known Uncle Qiu for many years and have seen many strange things. At first, I did not believe in the existence of ghosts and gods, but later I could not help but believe in them."
Kuang Huashi nodded in agreement, "I didn't believe it before either. But after seeing Zhang Jinfeng's ghost today, I realized how ignorant I was before."
Upon hearing this, Kuang Tianyou said meaningfully, "There are many incredible things in this world. We cannot deny their existence just because we haven't seen them. That's why I brought you to Uncle Qiu's place."
"So what do we do now? Should we go find Ma Xiaoling?" Kuang Huashi asked.
"No, we still need Uncle Qiu's help. Although Ma Xiaoling is highly skilled in magic, she lacks experience. She's probably not suitable. Uncle Qiu has lived a long life and seen everything. He's the perfect person to deal with the zombies."
"But…"
"Don't worry, Uncle Qiu, I'll take care of that."
The next day, Kuang Tianyou came to see Uncle Qiu again. The two talked for a long time, and Uncle Qiu finally agreed to help.
Inside the room, Kuang Tianyou and Kuang Huashi had a heated argument. "Huashi, you know the situation. I'm not letting you go for your own good. This time, we're dealing with people, not humans. Your going won't help at all; on the contrary, it will only drag us down."
Kuang Huashi's pretty face flushed red, and she raised her eyebrows, her stubborn expression bearing a striking resemblance to Kuang Tianyou's. "Kuang Tianyou, don't look down on me. My abilities are among the best in Interpol, and I will definitely not be a burden to you."
"It's not that I don't want you to go, but this time it's just too dangerous."
“Now I finally understand why Ma Xiaoling always argues with you. With your chauvinistic attitude, it’s no wonder we argue. Remember, you were sent by the Hong Kong police to assist me. If you insist on doing things your way, I’ll have to go to Inspector Liu.” With no other choice, Kuang Tianyou agreed to participate in the investigation when Inspector Liu was mentioned.
I've finished another chapter, and it's really tiring. Luckily, many friends enjoyed it. While appreciating it, this poor little writer is feeling quite sore. Please vote for me to encourage me!
