Todesanzeige 2 Schicksal - Kapitel 2
Zheng Qizheng paused, glancing sideways at Director Wang, who stood indifferently to the side.
"From now on, you'll be my senior sister. Please take good care of me!"
Zheng Qi smiled and reached out to shake Chen Qing's hand, which felt a little cold.
"My name is Meng Ping. From now on, we're buddies. If anyone bullies you, just tell me, and I'll take care of it right away!"
Just as his senior sister finished calling out, he suddenly felt a forceful pat on the shoulder, followed by a strong arm that gripped his shoulders tightly. Zheng Qi turned his head and saw a man in his late thirties, rather burly, standing beside him with a smile. Meng Ping had a loud voice and bright, piercing eyes, appearing exceptionally frank and sincere.
Zheng Qi smiled without saying a word, and gently patted his hand in return.
"Meng Ping, you're already being kind by not bullying others. Who here would dare to bully you!"
A woman, around forty years old, with a graceful figure and elegant attire, stood up.
“Your name is Zheng Qi. We were family five hundred years ago. My name is Zheng Ling. Everyone calls me Sister Zheng! If Meng Ping bullies you or you have any grievances, just come to me. Don’t be shy!”
As soon as she finished speaking, Sister Zheng, with a fawning smile, swept her arrogant gaze over everyone present. Finally, her eyes landed on Director Wang's face.
Director Wang's face was a little pale.
"Ahem, ahem. Alright, everyone's been introduced and you all know each other, let's get to work!"
Director Wang coughed a few times.
Immediately, seeing the director speak, everyone hurriedly returned to their seats and began to work.
"Xiao Zheng, this is your desk."
Director Wang pointed to one of the two tables near the window and said to Zheng Qi.
Zheng Qi looked up and saw that his desk was empty except for a computer, and the desk opposite his was also empty except for a computer. However, that desk didn't look like an empty seat, because Zheng Qi saw that his desk and computer were covered with a layer of fine dust, while the desk and computer on that other desk were spotless and looked exceptionally clean.
"Could it be that another colleague is missing?" Zheng Qi wondered to himself, filled with suspicion.
"If you need anything in the future, just come to me!" Director Wang said indifferently.
Zheng Qi nodded and went to his desk to start cleaning.
As soon as Director Wang turned to leave, the office suddenly erupted into a cacophony of noise.
Meng Ping slammed down his pen and rushed to Zheng Qi's side.
"Dude, we just met today, we have to have a good time, right?"
Meng Ping patted Zheng Qi on the shoulder and smiled slyly.
Zheng Qi knew perfectly well what Meng Ping meant, so he smiled without revealing his thoughts, and continued wiping the dust off the table.
"Meng Ping, you're bullying the new guy again, aren't you? You chase after pretty girls, but you make the new guys pay for everything. How can you be so shameless!"
Chen Qing pouted and spoke up for Zheng Qi.
"Hey Chen Qing, what did I do to offend you today? What's it to you if I'm talking to Zheng Qi? Look at you, all fierce and menacing. You'll never get married. Tch!"
Upon hearing Chen Qing expose his shortcomings in front of Zheng Qi, Meng Ping blushed, his neck thickened, and he shouted back at the top of his lungs.
When Chen Qing saw that Meng Ping was angry, he pursed his lips, lowered his head, and silently slammed his fingers on the keyboard.
Sister Zheng stood up gracefully and slowly walked to Zheng Qi and the others.
"Alright, Mengping, Xiao Zheng has just arrived here. We can have more time later. Let's make it lively another day. Let him get used to the environment first!"
Meng Ping gave Sister Zheng a cold look, said nothing more, and muttered to himself as he returned to his seat.
"Xiao Zheng, if there's anything I can help you with, just let me know. Don't be shy!"
When Zheng Qi saw Sister Zheng kindly smoothing things over for him, he blushed slightly and smiled gratefully at her.
"Hey, Sister Zheng, do you know who the colleague at this table is?"
Zheng Qi pointed to the table opposite him and asked.
Sister Zheng's rosy, smiling face suddenly turned pale, and a trace of panic and fear flashed in her eyes.
"Um, this, her name is Luo Min. Xiao Zheng, I'm sorry, I have something to do, I have to go now!"
As soon as she finished speaking, Sister Zheng turned around and fled back to her seat.
Suddenly, Zheng Qi felt an unexpected silence in the office. He looked around at everyone and saw that after each person glanced at him quickly, they immediately avoided his gaze as if on cue, lowered their heads and began to work, a hint of fear and unease flashing in their eyes.
Just as Zheng Qi turned his gaze away with doubt and was about to continue wiping his desk, he suddenly saw that the door to Director Wang's office was slightly ajar, and a cold and sinister gaze shot out from the small crack.
Zheng Qi's heart skipped a beat, and a sense of unease began to rise within him.
After Zheng Qi finished tidying up the table, he still hadn't seen his colleague named Luo Min. He suddenly realized that ever since he asked who owned the table across the way, the talkative Meng Ping, the enthusiastic Sister Zheng, and even Chen Qing, who had a slight liking for him, had all started avoiding him, and no one had spoken a single word to him.
The office was extremely quiet all morning; apart from the clicking of computer keys, not even a cough could be heard.
Fortunately, Zheng Qi was not one to talk to people much. After tidying up the table, he picked up some newspaper materials and started reading.
The situation improved slightly in the afternoon, but apart from Meng Ping occasionally making a few casual remarks, everyone just gave lukewarm responses and no one bothered to say anything more.
Zheng Qi's first day at work passed by quietly and inexplicably.
It was time to leave work, and Chen Qing and Sister Zheng had arranged to go shopping together. The two chatted and laughed as they smiled at Zheng Qi and the others before heading out.
Not to be outdone, Meng Ping hurriedly stood up as well. Before he could even clear the table, he said that he had some kind of dinner party to attend. Before he could finish speaking, he had already disappeared.
In the end, only Zheng Qi and Old Master Dong remained in the office.
"Xiao Zheng, let's go together!"
Old Dong, holding a black briefcase in one hand and an umbrella in the other, stood at the door and then turned back to Zheng Qidao.
"Alright, Mr. Dong! By the way, should we remind Director Wang?"
Just as Zheng Qi got up to leave with Elder Dong, he suddenly noticed some light coming from the director's office, which was separated from the main office. He hesitated and asked Elder Dong a question.
"Hmph," Old Dong sneered, a disdainful expression on his face.
"Young man, it's best to mind your own business!" With that, he left without even glancing at Zheng Qi.
Zheng Qi watched Dong Lao's departing figure and smiled wryly: "These interpersonal relationships are really complicated."
He stood at the door for a while, considering whether to go and greet Director Wang. Zheng Qi glanced at the tightly closed door of the director's office, recalling the cold and sinister gaze that had shot out from the crack in the door earlier. He then pondered Old Dong's warning words, sighed softly, unconsciously pressed his hand into his pocket, and quickly turned and left.
The door to the director's office opened slightly, and a wisp of cold wind drifted out. That icy, sinister gaze shot out again, seemingly tinged with blood, accompanied by a low, struggling sound, and a faint smell of blood lingered in the air.
A loud "boom" came from afar, followed by a muffled clap of thunder in the sky, signaling that a rainstorm was about to break.
