Kapitel 36

He stood up, feeling a jolt run through him; everything around him seemed to ripple outwards. Looking around, it was still the same dormitory. Zhao Long lay there, not in a state of decay; the small holes on his body had decreased considerably, he was simply fast asleep. Wang Feng was also unharmed. However, there was another person in the dormitory—Liu Hong.

At this moment, Liu Hong was sitting on the bed, slowly opening his eyes, covered in sweat. He looked at Lin Feng with a wry smile and said, "I underestimated you!"

Lin Feng looked at the wounds on his hands and shoulders and said, "It's alright, you almost killed me!"

Liu Hong asked, "How did you discover that all of this was an illusion?"

Lin Feng said, "You've read that book too, right?"

Liu Hong nodded and asked, "What does this have to do with that book?"

“Yes!” Lin Feng said, “The book says that the descendants of the devil need the heart of one of their own kind to overcome their bloodthirsty nature. But the author of this book didn’t even know that the descendants of the devil don’t have hearts!”

Liu Hong exclaimed in surprise, "Oh!" and said, "I've never cut open my own chest to look at it, but when I heard the call in my mind, my intuition told me that I am a descendant of the devil. I firmly believe it, so there's no need for me to do anything unnecessary!"

Just as Lin Feng was about to speak, a voice suddenly rang out from the doorway: "Since you're so sure, then I won't stand on ceremony!" Before the words were even finished, Qiqi had already walked in.

Lin Feng asked in surprise, "Why are you here?"

Suddenly, a shadow appeared beside Qiqi; it was Xiaoxue. Qiqi said, "This little girl came to find me and brought me here!"

Lin Feng nodded approvingly at Xiaoxue and said, "Thank you, Xiaoxue!"

Xiaoxue happily made a face and said, "It's nothing!"

Qiqi walked up to Liu Hong coldly and said, "You are a descendant of the devil, I can feel it!"

Liu Hong nodded and said, "I'm not as lucky as you. I always thought of him as a descendant of the devil, but I ended up being utterly defeated. My abilities are insufficient to fight against you!"

Without saying a word, Qiqi stretched out her hands and tore open Liu Hong's chest. Where Liu Hong's beating heart should have been, there was nothing there.

Lin Feng was dumbfounded. What should he do? Demons don't have hearts, so how could he help Qiqi recover?

But Qiqi smiled naturally, and Liu Hong, without any pain on his face, said, "You finally understand what to do?"

Kiki nodded and said, "Actually, the sound that triggered my demonic nature in the first place was made by you. You've been looking for people from the demon race, so you made that sound. Any person from the demon race can sense it. As long as I kill you, I can solve all the problems!"

Liu Hong nodded and said, "You're very smart, but do you know why I made that sound?"

Kiki shook her head!

Liu Hong said, "The lifespan of demons is actually only slightly longer than that of humans, around a hundred years. But there is a way to extend the lifespan of demons indefinitely. As long as you absorb the energy of another demon, your lifespan can be extended by another twelve-year cycle. Who knew that I would be defeated by you the very first time I used this method! You are a genius among demons, and you possess immense power. A demon like me is utterly vulnerable in front of you. Now, if you kill me and absorb my energy, you can live for many more years!"

Qiqi sighed and said, "Actually, I don't want to kill you, but Xiaofa's death, Liu Shenghu's death, and the deaths of many others were directly caused by you. I have to kill you!"

Liu Hong nodded in understanding and said, "Let's get started!"

He had barely finished speaking when Qiqi plunged her hand into the top of his head, a look of pain flashing across his face. Qiqi pulled her hand out; there wasn't a drop of blood on it. Meanwhile, pale green energy continued to emanate from Liu Hong's skull. Lin Feng knew this was Liu Hong dissipating his spiritual energy before he died.

Lin Feng urged Qiqi, "Why aren't you absorbing that energy yet!"

Qiqi smiled and said, "Even if I live to be a thousand years old, what's the point if I don't have Li Mingsheng with me!"

Lin Feng was overjoyed; it seemed he had completely emerged from his previous shadow.

Suddenly, a trembling voice came from behind: "Qiqi, you..."

The two turned around and saw Li Mingsheng standing behind them. He looked extremely happy, clearly having overheard what Qiqi had said.

Two red clouds immediately appeared on Qiqi's face. She stomped her feet and said coquettishly, "How could you eavesdrop on other people's conversations!"

Li Mingsheng said apologetically, "I didn't mean to. I saw the note you left on the table and was worried, so I rushed over. I just got here and heard you."

Lin Feng quickly stepped in to smooth things over, saying, "Alright, alright, everyone's happy now. Qiqi's bloodlust problem is solved, and you two can stop talking about it too!" Lin Feng stopped himself as he saw Qiqi's murderous gaze.

Liu Hong's spiritual energy had been completely exhausted, and his corpse rapidly decomposed, eventually turning into a small pile of ash. Qi Qi gently blew on it, and the ash flew out through the window Lin Feng had just broken, leaving no trace.

The red spots on Zhao Fei's body on the bed disappeared quickly, and Wang Feng turned over, looking like he was about to wake up.

Xiaoxue made another face and disappeared into thin air. Lin Feng and the other two also left the dormitory and closed the door. They hadn't expected such a tricky situation to be resolved so easily.

"Qiqi, I want to know how you knew that guy's fatal spot was his skull?" Lin Feng asked, puzzled, on the way.

"Because once I accidentally bumped my head on the cabinet, it hurt a lot and I felt dizzy, I knew that was our vital spot!"

"Oh, so if Old Li and Qiqi dare to bully you, then hit her on the head!" Lin Feng's scream came from the road; it was Qiqi pinching his arm hard.

These past two days, Li Mingsheng has been feeling quite overwhelmed, constantly running around. He's received over sixty cases in just two days, including over twenty rape cases and over forty robbery cases. Police manpower is simply insufficient; all the interrogation rooms are overflowing. How could Li Mingsheng not be anxious?

Initially, it was thought that these people were a robbery and rape gang, but during the interrogation, it was discovered that they did not know each other at all. Some were locals, while others were migrants from other places, and they had no connection with each other whatsoever. What's more, the age range was quite wide, with the youngest being only a teenager and the oldest nearly sixty years old.

The Special Investigation Department has been relatively quiet lately, while Li Mingsheng has been incredibly busy. So, Qiqi specially made some soup for him and brought it to him today. He's been leaving early and returning late these past few days, which has made her very worried. After resolving her bloodlust issue, her personality returned to its former gentle and quiet state. Moreover, she hasn't lost her abilities; those who don't know her would find it hard to imagine that she's a witch even ghosts would flee from.

For some time now, the guys in the criminal investigation team have known that Qiqi is their future sister-in-law. So when Qiqi arrived with the soup, everyone greeted her warmly.

Qiqi entered Li Mingsheng's office, where he was deep in thought, staring at a large number of case files. Seeing Qiqi enter, Li Mingsheng quickly stood up, took the soup from her hand, and said, "What brings you here!"

Qiqi smiled and said, "I was worried about you, because you work so hard every day!"

Li Mingsheng was so happy he didn't know what to say, he just kept grinning like an idiot.

Qiqi looked at the pile of case files on Li Mingsheng's desk and said, "Why are there so many cases?"

Li Mingsheng sighed and said, "Who knows? They're all inexplicable cases, seemingly all sudden. These people themselves can't explain why. It's really a headache!"

Qiqi picked up a case file, looked at it, and said, "Hmm, the crime scene was in the 24th Residential Area? Isn't that near Lin Feng's school?"

Li Mingsheng said, "Yes! Most of the cases happened near the medical school. Now no one dares to go there at night, and even the students are afraid to walk around!"

Qiqi tapped the table lightly with her hand, thought for a while, and said, "Have these people been interrogated? Are there any commonalities in their testimonies?"

Li Mingsheng said, "It seems like there's nothing in common. Qiqi kissed Li Mingsheng and said, "Okay!"

When they found Lin Feng, he was playing chess with Zhou Liang, shouting and yelling. Seeing Qiqi enter, Lin Feng exclaimed in surprise, "Oh my, our Miss Qiqi still has time to report here? Didn't she go to the criminal investigation team?"

Qiqi walked up to Lin Feng and said, "Do you want to die again?" As she spoke, she pinched Lin Feng's arm hard with her delicate hand.

Lin Feng quickly raised his hands in surrender and said, "Hey, hey, it was just a joke!"

Qiqi asked, "Don't you have class today?"

Lin Feng said, "Yes, I only have four classes a week!"

Qiqi nodded and said, "Let's go to the school and take a look. More than sixty cases have occurred around your medical school. I believe they are related to the energy Liu Hong possessed before his death!"

Lin Feng curled his lip and said, "I think it has something to do with your Li Mingsheng!"

Kiki immediately grinned maliciously and asked, "Are you going or not?"

Lin Feng quickly said, "Go, go, go!" Then he said to Zhou Liang, "We'll stop here for today. We'll continue another day!" As he spoke, he put on his coat.

Upon arriving at school, Lin Feng went to see Xiao Jie Jie, spent some time with her, and then went with Qi Qi to investigate the matter.

The two decided to go and check on Zhao Long and his friends in the boys' dormitory.

As soon as they entered, the two guys were happily playing cards with the beautiful female ghost, Xiaoxue. They didn't even greet Lin Feng when he came in; their eyes seemed fixed on Xiaoxue.

Lin Feng gritted his teeth in hatred, slammed his hand on the table, and said, "Do you think I don't exist?"

The two then feigned surprise and said, "Teacher Lin, when did you arrive?" But after saying that, they saw the beautiful Qiqi behind Lin Feng.

The two guys immediately made room for Qiqi, inviting her to sit down and then pouring her tea and water, showering her with attention while completely ignoring Lin Feng.

Lin Feng, feigning speechlessness, said to the heavens, "Two scoundrels who value women over their teachers!"

No sooner had they finished speaking than they both simultaneously gave each other the middle finger and exclaimed, "Damn!"

Lin Feng rushed over and grabbed Zhao Long by the neck, saying, "Have you forgotten how I saved your life?"

Then he grabbed Wang Feng and said, "And you, how could you be in the same room with such a beautiful female ghost like Xiaoxue without me?"

The two men pleaded together, "We know, we know. What brings you here, Boss Lin?"

Lin Feng then sat down, lit a cigarette, and said, "Nothing much, your beautiful sister has a few questions for you!"

The two of them stared at Qiqi with lustful eyes. Zhao Long said, "Beautiful sister, ask us anything. We'll answer everything we know."

Lin Feng interrupted Zhao Long, saying, "So much nonsense!"

Qiqi smiled and said, "Hey beautiful, why are you hiding so far away from me?" It turned out that Qiqi had noticed Xiaoxue hiding far away from her and looking at her timidly.

Xiaoxue said, "I dare not go over there!"

Lin Feng said softly, "She-devil," but before he could finish, Qi Qi pinched his arm again, making him wince in pain.

Qiqi smiled and said to Xiaoxue, "Why don't you dare come over? I won't hurt you!"

The two boys in the dormitory were unaware of Qiqi's background. They were quite surprised to see that even the female ghost Xiaoxue was too scared to approach her.

Xiaoxue slowly approached Qiqi, who smiled and took Xiaoxue's hand, saying, "Why are you so scared? I won't hurt you!"

Lin Feng said to Xiaoxue, "Xiaoxue, have you noticed anything strange about the area around the school?"

Xiaoxue shook her head and said, "I don't know, I've never been out!"

Qiqi asked Zhao Long, "After Liu Hong dropped out of school, did anything unusual happen at your school?"

They were afraid Zhao Long and the others would be frightened, so they told them Liu Hong had dropped out of school. Besides, even if they were told Liu Hong was a devil, they might not be able to accept it!

Zhao Long shook his head and said, "No, there's nothing unusual at school."

Before he could finish speaking, Wang Feng said, "Hey, Teacher Lin, has something supernatural happened again? How about we go take a look?"

Zhao Long, who was standing nearby, suddenly said, "I think Teacher Lin is here because of the recent cases around the school, right?"

Lin Feng patted Zhao Long and said, "You're so smart!"

Zhao Long said a little embarrassedly, "No, it's just that so much trouble has been happening near the school lately, everyone knows about it!"

Lin Feng nodded and said, "Actually, I'm most worried about something happening to you."
